I decided to include a bit more about her character, as she's quite the contradicting mess. I would really like you to not be confused, after all. c: i decided to break her down with some sins & virtues. i hope you don't mind my additions
☆ diligence;; For literally eons, the Sarrlow name has reeked of contemptuous eminence – elegance is all they're allowed to inhale, and anything less is deemed unworthy of being graced by those with similar bloodlines. It's accurate to recognize the small fact that girl has practically been handed everything to her on a golden platter – as quite frankly, the Sarrlow's have found the hue to shine far beyond what a mere metallic-ally gray can shimmer – but she's one of the few souls who have always tossed away the comfortable luxuries & treasures towards anybody wishing to put better used to it all. Melanie's brother believes her to be ungrateful and absurd, for fantasizing about a much simpler lifestyle, but labor is where she feels the most useful; and if she knows that she can do the work, she'll ensure that she does the work with much effort and devotion. She earns everything she uses to provide effectively for herself, and she only spends the many dimes practically raining from her name when she's able to spoil a good friend or sibling on a special occasion. Her stubbornness and determination to prevail on her own gives Melanie a rather interesting form of independence, which is also usually accompanied with a fierce iron fist.
☆ temperance;; Scandal is everywhere – it materializes in the shadows of a lie, it haunts your ever blink & breath with the promise of total destruction, and it essentially robs the skeletons of others in order to carefully collect within the secret depth of your closet. Melrose, although her family is described to be proud and proper, is the honest proof of her mother's betrayal to her supposed father – Stephen Kiriakis – and because the woman has such a love for being friendly with other men, she invested her time in learning how to cling tightly to dignity. Those shameless actions have made the junior want to regurgitate one too many times in her childhood: she loathes women who don't respect their bodies or their minds enough to remember what honor truly entitles.
☆ charity;; You first need to comprehend that Melrose Sarrlow is perfectly capable of doing everything by herself, and she harshly refuses any charity directed her way. However, when it comes to the hypocritical sense of the virtue, there isn't anything she loves more than helping others without asking for a favor in return. There is a reason why she does generally spoil her friends (mainly because if they can manage tolerating her aggravatingly annoying traits that contradict too frequently, they do deserve to be rewarded with at least something other than her surprisingly compassionate affection), and knowing that somebody is enjoying a moment of luxury far better than she ever would does make the sixteen year old grin. A lot of times, Mel describes herself to be selfishly selfless: which is basically having the need to sacrifice whatever she needs to restore pure serenity to a situation. The thin line she runs along – between villain and super hero – does knock her off balance a lot, but you may happily thank the last trait to her character you'll find conveniently typed below. She will not ask for nothing, and instead give away what she physically and mentally can, if she has the time to do so. This is also the side of Mel that swoops in and saves the day when people are in need of a savior, despite the fact that usually, she's the reason why they need saving in the first place.
☆ wrath;; Tying up each loose & severed end with the most dominant negative, acrimony consumes Melrose easily whenever she flows smoothly along with vengeance. No level is too extreme to rise on, and asperity has the frequent tendency of erupting unwaveringly from her deepest depths. She walks here and there, settling scores of those who've provoked her one too many times; and like shattering a mirror at your own will, she seemingly comes hand and hand with bad luck that doesn't end for possibly even years. And as treacherous as it sounds, she finds satisfaction in seeing her enemies squeal & squirm under her grasp.
life
She was supposed to be the first child shared between Lillian and Stephen Kiriakis, but once her mother's deceitful secret pertaining to her affair with the next door neighbor surfaced, all dreams of being a happy family crumbled into appalling piles of ash. Melrose's father filed for divorce before she turned two, and by the time she was three, Lillian returned to her father's most favored estate in England. She wasn't given the chance to know either of her fathers – Stephen, because he simply refused to be apart of the life of a child that wasn't his, and her actual father because her mother never revealed his location to her – but she learned to accept the downfall of this fact and moved on fairly swiftly. Sometimes she'll still wonder about the what ifs of this dilemma, but that isn't really anything out of the ordinary.
Melrose has never failed to ignore the lustful faults her mother does have, and although she personally despises those who cannot bring themselves to find an appropriate level of self-control, she loves the woman just as tenderly as any child would care for their mother. Lillian Sarrlow – formerly Kiriakis, mind you – couldn't comprehend the job description of a mother correctly is all, and her inability to make wise decisions during Melrose's early childhood left her children with more than one void to fill. Staying faithful was a constant struggle for her mom, naturally making her the epitome of the word whore, but turning her life around became very possible around Mel's sixth birthday. Fashion was the seductress' passion, and working her way to the position of editor-and-chief proved to be successful after years of complete devotion and undying determination. Now, you'll find that the name Lillian Sarrlow is written and known internationally, thanks to some of the investments she made with other agencies and companies.
However unfortunately, she forgot to include her two children on the difficult climb to the top, instead choosing to let her own parents raise her children however they pleased. Growing up, Melrose decided that she and her littler brother were a part of their mother's old & shameful lifestyle, so they weren't lucky enough to be remembered when she so nonchalantly buried the memories away six feet under. Feeling abandoned by the age of about eight, she took on the maternal roll her brother craved so much and put her little daydreaming fantasies on hold whenever he'd demand her immediate attention.
Melrose's sort of “wonderland” -- to momentarily add in one of her favorite novels by lewis carrol -- was founded within the summer of her fifth year of being alive, only it was named Elderado instead, in honor of her most favored author. Her vast knowledge within the world of literature can be credited to the girl's grandmother, Elizabeth, because without her familiarity with Poe, her secret dreamworld of make believe might not still be accessible. For hours she'd stay out in the astonishing gardens her grandparents owned at their estate in Manchester, talking to “herself” and getting more acquainted with the creativity of her own imagination. I suppose you could get away with calling this place "the land of Melrose's imaginary friends", because for quite a while there, she actually believed that the book was a prophecy concerning her fate in life. Oswald believed her to be delusional, and to be honest, she likely was. Think Pan's Labrinthe, if you'd like a better reference.
But reality needed her more than Elderado did, concluding with Melrose focusing on what her grandfather insisted she act & talk like, as well as making sure that her little brother was always content, at the very least. There was even a point where she forgot about the silly land of nonsense, despite the fact that she wished to run right back to that very place. Her skills with music and painting increased while she allowed herself to float around on a small hiatus, and after her favorite uncle died, she made it clear that she wouldn't rest efficiently until she'd make a career out of being a musician. And to this very day, this determined mind frame has yet to alter in the slightest.
Hm...ah, it seems that I forgot to mention something of importance, as far as this character is concerned. Melrose met a boy, you see, during her freshman year of high school, and a confusing tango of cat and mouse commenced to both of their amusement. It wasn't long before Judas Ambrose realized just how equally matched they both were, with the twisting of words and the illogical mind wars, and pursuing after her was an inevitable choice his feet made whenever she was walking through the area. Eventually, Mel agreed to call their playfully devilish relationship a draw, and the two began to date.
On January 1st, December Love Ambrose was born to Melanie Sarrlow and Judas Ambrose. Being only fifteen at the time, she found a way to take care of her daughter while still trying to achieve her diploma through a homeschooling system. Her grandfather was furious to hear that his teenage grandchild was already a young mother, and due to the fact that her stubbornness kept his usually persuasive outlooks from entering her mind, he disowned her entirely and signed emancipation documents when she was of the legal age to go off on her own. For a while, Melrose and December lived with Judas while he attended college for a teaching degree. Things were mildly mediocre, compared to how the situation could have turned out.
However, there's still a bit more to the petite blonde who really is as catastrophic as they come (and for that, I really apologize). It seems to be a bit of a slutty part to this story, though not but a few months after her first child was born, Melrose discovered she'd be bringing her second one into the world in no time at all. But this was not a child with Judas's DNA – oh no, because that would be just too easy and expected, am I right? Anyway, she actually took a liking to a crazily tall aspiring musician, with dark hair and haunting blue eyes (and as a sort of joke and mock towards religion, he often claimed to be a modern day Lucifer himself) and he had a bad attitude to go right along with everything. Things went way too fast, Melrose found out she'd be a mother of two before turning seventeen, and that really did scare the living hell out of her. So, she disappeared off the face of the earth when she read the positive pregnancy test, and allowed her flighty traits to kick in a lot. About eight months later, she named her second daughter Annabel Lee – as another tribute to Poe & her father, who also adored his work – and began trying to straighten herself out.
Now, a lot has happened since then, I can easily tell you. She's matured, and she's back in school for one reason; to obtain the diploma she never got around to getting. As a nineteen year old – soon to be twenty – she doesn't have too many credits to make up, and with the help of her older brother Fritz, who is the self-proclaimed second parent to whom watches his nieces almost 24/7, she has a really good chance at actually succeeding with something for the first time in her life. After graduating, she plans on continuing to pursue her dreams to make it as a musician.

Memories of his childhood were more than accessible & cherished, but even though he did spend a lot of his earlier years being raised in LA, the British folk he eventually adapted to during his seventh grade year were truly missed. As he began to reminisce on the spontaneous wedding his step-father insisted to conjure years ago, the corner of his lips begged to twitch upwards gently with a smile. Emory had never seen his father so happy in all his life, apart from the holidays the two males spent entirely secluded away from the world at home, and knowing that he'd ultimately started his life with his apparent soul mate made him feel less worried about the man's well-being. So caring Finley (his father) was, even when he honestly needed to focus on his own issues more than anyone else. The junior thought him to be the kindest human he'd ever come to meet face to face, and he assumed that his own selflessness was inherited from Finley's DNA.
Emory was strolling at a leisurely pace down the sandy shoreline of San Diego beach, partially yearning for the more historical atmosphere of London. Gaining the opportunity to move there after his father married Preston was one of the coolest things he'd never take for granted, though as he glanced around at the simpletons enjoying the sun's rays, the new scenery began to grow immensely on him. The civilians weren't rude, unless you gave them a reason to be, and the social aspects of the city were always hot and buzzing. The longer they stayed, the longer he liked it; Millbrook High was beginning to feel like a new, cozy home.
Because Emory already spent a majority of his morning eating breakfast with his beloved half-sister, Zatanna, his schedule was practically cleared for the rest of the afternoon. He figured that his other companions would be off spending time with their lovers – if they were knowingly in a relationship – or too busy to mingle at the moment, so wandering around aimlessly is what he opted to do. Saturday was always the best day of the weekend, but at the same time, it proved to be very uneventful if you had no idea how to kill time. Emory lit the end of a cigarette with a thoughtful sigh as he walked, the bottoms of his feet gliding along the soft grains in an attempt to keep calluses from claiming the skin like it did with most people. The thought of the unsightly blemishes made his stomach churn a little bit.
Calluses. Revolting.
As he raised the cancer stick to his lips for an inhale, he looked out at sea while his mouth released the smoke into the air above him. It wasn't as hot as it usually was today, being only about 72 degrees as the high, but he took note that there were still surfers & beach goers making sure to love the ending of bikini weather as much as they could. He paused to wade in the water absentmindedly while he smoked down the inches he had left on his cigarette, looking up only twice to see a few locals jog by with their canines loyally at their side. He began to muse over the thought of getting a pet for himself, but quickly shook his head as he thought better of it. He wouldn't have time to take care of it, he finalized in his mind, but snapped the fingers on his left hand to signify that he had a brilliant idea. Before he'd go home, he'd go and purchase a dog for Zatanna. Yes, he would because he knew she wanted one badly, but didn't want to go through the trouble of getting one herself. She accepted his gifts, so she'd likely take in a puppy if he were to hand it off to her. His hand raised to stroke his chin lightly, his lungs breathing in another long drag shortly afterwards.
