the prynne famly consists of gweneth, dillon, rhian, terrwyn, garth, and cerdiwen. gweneth and dillon were purely welsh, coming over to america when their oldest, rhian, was eleven, terrwyn was nine, garth was seven, and cerdiwen was five. the two chose ocean city because dillon's brother, aeron, had migrated himself over some years earlier. his brother was content with running one of the shops on the boardwalk, but dillon, being more power hungry and ambitious decided that he would let america know that he come give his family a new and better experience at life. how did he manage to make his name worth millions in only a little over two years? he decided that he would try his hand at publishing his book he had been writing, the tale of the welsh warrior. dillon had always been bright and his ideas were loved. a publishing company, torrence publishing, supported him from the very start. his book was made for young teens, but his candid writing style was admired and soon he was asked to write a novel for young adults and adults. in only a little over a year his next book was out, black sun, and the welsh family living in ocean city, maryland were wealthy and on their way to becoming even more rich. dillon had shown his kids what you could achieve if you followed your dreams.
all of the kids were jewels...except for cerdiwen. she had been but a young child when had transported themselves over to america. while the rest of the family was holding onto their welsh traditions she had no idea that was she was even foreign. garth, the next youngest, had only been two years older than cerdiwen, but still had more of a respect for their heritage than cerdiwen. she had only been in american schooling for two years and the seven year old girl had already been americanized by the education system and her friends. she loved the american lifestyle and didn't need to know anything about her welsh routes. her mind was closed off to anything related to her family and completely opened to anything that this new shiny world had to offer. she would have been the perfect little girl if her parents had been able to keep a more firm hold on her. but from a young age cerdiwen had expressed that she was an independent soul and there wasn't anybody would be able to try and keep her tied down. she had started to cause arguments with her dad and mom from the start, lash out at them for no good reason, and slowly start to establish the fact that she didn't want to do associate with her family in any way.
the incident happened when she was thirteen years old. her mom had always been the spouse who was more independent, not as reliant on her husband, and had a perfectly fine time doing things without him. the other siblings were out living their lives, just as cerdiwen was. she was a teenager, obnoxious, rebellious, and unwilling to listen to her family or associate with him. but it had still hurt her when she had gone into her mom's room to go and grab the straightener to find that she was in bed with the man from next door. the guy had been banished from the house and then her mom had slapped her right across the face, telling her that she would kill her if she ever told anyone what she had saw. the cheating when on for three more years. eventually, even cerdiwen got tired of it and she set up video cameras in her mom's room. each one of her affairs, all with different men, were captured and she decided that she would blow everything up. by that, she sent the tapes to the local tabloids and her mother and her cheating got thwarted. her dad and the affair scandal were featured on the news for a whole two months, until they settled the divorce and the two eldest kids sided with their mom and the whole family split up. cred didn't give a damn, things were more quiet and she was more closed off and vulnerable because of the experience. that just led her to act out more and do more stupid shit, giving her the title of a punk.
