If there was one thing Hannah despised with every morsel of her being it was going to the Lipton shopping mall. Could it have been the distinctive odor of the greasy nastiness that we American's called food, or the Justin Bieber loving teenyboppers that filled every crevice of this mall on a daily basis? The mall itself wasn't exactly horrible - it had stores that Hannah frequently shopped at but Hannah was looking for something new and exciting. She had lived in Lipton for all of her seventeen years and was yearning for a change - something exciting and new that could spark her interests. Hannah was known as Lipton's "it" girl: someone that all of the guys wanted to date, and the girls wanted to hate. It was an interesting label to have but Hannah loved every minute of it. No one remembered her from the girl she used to be and Hannah was more then glad to keep that chapter of her life buried deep within her. She hated to relive her experience from when she was a nobody, an annoying and chubby girl who had no idea how to tame her frizzy blond hair if her life depended on it. She ate, boy did she eat. If it was one thing she loved was food, using it as a relief whenever she felt nervous. Hannah walked casually to the escalator and took a step up toward the upper level as she continued to relive her past. It wasn't until she hit high school (and lost touch with Camden, her childhood friend) and began her transformation. She lost all of her wait and developed, and boy did she develop. She began to get attention from the boys and from there it only continued. Not one person knew how she lost all of that weight, and she wasn't about to tell. When she was asked she would quickly retort to saying she dieted, but it was a lie. A lie she would keep hidden.
She took a step off of the escalator, her black Ugg boots making a light shuffling sound as she walked throughout the mall, a smile plastered on her face as she received attention from the boys passing her. Situations like that only got Hannah riled up with amusement. She never did anything about it, she just liked the attention. Hannah was so lost in thought that the sudden vibration coming from her pocket frightened her a bit. She glanced down at the screen of her iPhone as she navigated through the mall, weaving through crowds of people without looking up to see where she was going. Hannah was craving coffee and if its one thing she liked about this mall was it's Starbucks.
As soon as Hannah made her way to the entrance of the coffee shop her nose was filled quickly with the light, refreshing aroma of the coffee. Hannah loved the smell of coffee shops almost as much as she loved the smell of freshly make chocolate chip cookies. She walked up toward the barista and nodded, a flirtatious smile gently forming across her lips. She leaned on the counter as her eyes focused on the menu. "Umm..can I have a tall cinnamon dulce latte with no whip?" she decided as she reached into her purse to fish for her wallet but was surprised when she didn't have enough money to front the cost of her drink. "Uhh, nevermind." she said, her face glowing red with embarassment. That was not happening to her! Hannah knew the reason she didn't have enough money to cover the cost and it was her own damn fault. Of course Hannah knew that she shouldnt have spent the last of her money on the new Dolce and Gabbanna purse, but she at least thought her credit card would cover it. Declined. That wasn't happening. Hannah let out a heavy sigh as she scratched her head in embarassment.

It didn't matter if they were being dragged there by their friends or being cornered there in search of a gift for a family member or friend, the mall was the last place anyone wanted to be. However, it was a place every man had to face from time to time, there was no getting out of it or escaping it. Unfortunately for Gale, one of those days was today. His mother had called weeks ago with a list of birthday gift ideas for his father and it didn't matter how long Gale tried to put it off, it was time to face the music, after all, his fathers birthday was tomorrow. So making his way to the mall, Gale tried to remember how much he loved his father and how he only needed on gift. It could be a simple in and out process, if it was easy to find. Just concentrate, rush, but don't run, and soon he would be back out in the real world, not surrounded by teenage girls swooning and following, no only him, but other men around.
Making his way through the small stores the simple task was starting to be harder than expected. What was meant to be a quick in and out was turning into a day long event. It didn't matter what store he went into or who he spoke with, no one could find the gift he wanted to get his father. It was a tad bit annoying to Gale. For a moment he thought about just going to one of the major stores and getting some of the dress shirts his mother said his father needed, however Gale always hated to get people things they needed for their birthday, he felt it was gypping a person out of a gift. Plus, who wanted to get shirts for their birthday? Even if it was his father, he wasn't about do to that to him.
Making his way to the escalator, the tall man moved to step on it, resting a hand on this side as it lifted him up to the second floor, the whole time his eyes searched the names of the stores around him, looking for any kind of place that might have what he was looking for, however it didn't look like he was going to have any better luck up here. He was already starting to wish he had ordered the gift offline the moment his mother had called. Instead it was now down to the last minute and he would be stuck having to find a gift today, even if it wasn't the one he was looking for.
Arriving to the top, Gale stepped of and moved to the side, allowing others to move around him. Looking around he let out a soft sigh. That's when the smell of coffee hit him. Shrugging Gale figured why not. He needed a break. After all a event that was meant to take thirty minutes had already turned into two hours. There was no clue how much longer he was going to be here so mid as well take a break. Making his way into the Starbucks which was only off to the side, Gale made his way inside, stepping into line, not paying much attention to the person in front of him, until he started to notice there was an issue. Looking down at the blond girl behind him, he knew that head. Leaning over some, he tried to see the side of her face to make sure it was who he thought it was. Smiling, he caught a few words of what was going on and pulled his wallet out. "Iv got it." He commented as he moved beside the girl, giving the man a twenty "Add a caramel latte to that please." Smiling Gale looked down at the girl next to him. "Hey Hanna, its been a while." He commented lightly, still flashing the girl a polite smile as he waited for his change.

Hanna couldn't help but glow red in embarrassment as the cashier handed her card back to her. Declined again. Hanna moved the hair from her face and stared at the cashier in disbelief, her fingers nervously tracing the edge of the granite counter. In the corner of her eye she saw a figure move, perhaps to get a better look of the situation, but she paid the person no mind - she had her own issues to worry about then some passerby trying to snoop in her business. She figured it was probably an irritated patron hoping to grab a coffee so they could hurry back to work. Letting out a heavy sigh she began to tap nervously on the counter once more. She spun her head quickly when the figure spoke. "I've got it.". She knew that voice. It was Gale, the guy she had been close friends with growing up. She smiled, her face still a light shade of red as she hesitantly stepped out of the way for the guy as he added his own drink to the order. "Hey Hanna, it's been a while." "Oh my god Gale!" she squealed in excitement, almost immediately embracing him in a hug. She nodded in agreement as she searched to the right response to say. It was surprising that she ran into Gale, especially in a time like this, but at the same time it was oddly refreshing. After a moment she pulled away and glanced down to survey the man, a soft smile crept upon her lips as she checked out his muscular figure. To say he was still cute was an understatement, the boy was gorgeous.
"Thank you..seriously. Thanks." she said softly, her cheeks still slightly red as she cast her eyes down toward the ground. It was embarrassing enough that she couldn't get her drink, and even more embarrassing that Gale decided to cover her. He did that often, especially growing up. Hanna knew Gale when she was known as "hefty hanna" and they hadn't spoke much once she began her transformation. He still seemed like the same Gale, the sweetheart that all of the girls swooned over, especially Hanna. She looked up at him once more, a smile crept to her lips as she made eye contact with him. "How have you been?" she inquired, her voice showing hints of excitement.
Walking toward the bar, Hanna quickly scanned the area for a place to sit before settling in a tiny booth on the side of the building as she awaited to catch up with an old friend. She sat her purse on the seat beside her and sat down quickly, the smile still plastered on her face. Hanna was many a tad bit giddy, much like she used to be whenever she was with Gale. She had so many questions to ask him, and imagined that he might have had the same for her. I mean between the two, Hannah looked completely different. No longer was she fat and shy, instead gleaming with confidence and more comfortable with her surroundings. She looked at him once more for a moment before quickly shifting her eyes to anything that could grab her attention. After all of these years she was still completely shy around Gale.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: ffffff; border: #001d2d solid 15px; width: 400px; padding: 10 5 10 10px;] who can say iv been changed for the better The line had been long enough with out an issued happening with the person in front of him. Gale wasn't an impatient man, however he wanted his treat before getting back to his hunt, which was starting to feel like an Easter egg hunt or looking for a needle in a hay stack. He hadn't been paying much attention to the women in front of him during his wait, instead looking behind him to take a peek at the other shops in the mall he could see from here. However, he was soon blocked by a few other people in line and gave up, before returning his attention to the issue before him. That's when he noticed he knew the figure and took a moment to make sure it was who he thought it was. When he was sure, the man moved up to save the day. After all, that's what Gale always tried to do for his friends, especially ones like Hanna. After all, when he had known the girl she had been known as hefty Hanna and was always teased by other kids in school. Gale had kind of tried to be the buffer and even with the cliques and lines it worked. No one seemed to bother him for being a jock and taking a girl like her under his wing. After all, he had been so cute and so good at sports no one was going to question such a thing. Some people pocked at him, asking if he was cheating on his hot girl for one who had more cushion for the pushing, but he ignored it. He wasn't the kind of man to easily fall to hurtful words, but instead let them slide off his back.
As Gale started to hand the man the money, he felt Hanna's arms move around him, her lips allowing a squeal to pass from them, in excitement. He wasn't sure if she was happy to see him or happy that he was covering her bill, however he didn't ask. Instead the man wrapped one arm around her, pulling her into a tight embrace, welcoming the old friend. Taking his change, he pulled from the girl and looked down at her. She looked very different from the last time he had seen her, however that wasn't a bad thing. Gale never judged Hanna on her previous look, he was the kind of man who could look past those kind of things and accept people for who they were, however he had to admit, the change had done the girl good, she looked stunning.
Moving to the side so the line behind them could move, Gale shook his head and brought his hand up as if to stop her from thanking him. "Its nothing, consider it an gift from an old friend. However, if your looking to pay me back, you could sit with me and tell me how you have been doing." Smiling the man moved over to the counter, keeping an eye out for their coffees to come out. Returning his attention to the younger girl, he remembered how she was in high school. They had been close friends, however he always knew she had a thing for him. She would often blush or become shy when he was around and it hadn't mattered how much time they spent together it never changed. "Iv been doing okay, how about yourself. I mean clearly you are doing amazing, however I want to hear every detail." He said lightly.
Watching as Hanna walked off to go grab them a table, Gale waited for their coffees, before they appeared. Grabbing them, he followed the girl to the booth and watched as she slipped in before placing her coffee down in front of her and slipping in across from her, taking a sip from his own cup. Leaning on the table, cup in both hands, he watched the girl for a moment. "I have to admit, you look really good Hanna. I bet you have all the guys after you now don't you? Breaking hearts and everything." The boy was half teasing. She did look great, better even. He was sure she had all the boys falling at her feet and he was also sure she was breaking hearts, even if it wasn't intentional.

The fact that Gale rescued her in perhaps the most embarrassing moment of the day said a lot about him as a person. In many ways he was like Hanna's knight in shining armor and had been in their younger years, always being that guy who stuck by her side even when it meant he would receive flak for it. It never seemed to phase Gale and Hanna knew she was appreciative of it, especially since he always seemed to be the one who consistently bailed him out. Hanna looked at him one more, her green eyes searching his body for any subtle changes, but he looked exactly the same as he always did. He was still extremely attractive and well dressed, yet had a demeanor like he didn't care what people said about him. Hanna thought about him often, often wondering if he still was with that girl - what was her name again? For a moment Hanna tried to remember the name of the girl who Gale dated most of his high school life, but failed to do so. "I'd love too." she replied graciously, "maybe perhaps we can do dinner sometime? my treat." she had to offer him something to show gratuity for such a kind gesture, but it wasn't strictly because he paid for her coffee, it was the fact that she had lost touch with him for a while after they had graduated.
Crossing her legs from underneath the table, Hanna's eyes once again made contact with Gale's, her coffee cup tightly held by her hands. She cringed as he spoke about wanting to hear every detail about what happened in her life. "Thanks." she said softly, her voice cracking slightly. "You know, just been hitting the gym and working over at the bar." Lies. All lies. She couldn't tell Gale the truth behind her transformation - the constant throwing up and diet pills that she went through to look the way she did. She knew Gale would instantly distance himself from her especially since he knew she was better then that. Hanna knew she was going to have to change the subject or lie, only hoping that he didn't prod to know more.
"Thanks, you do too Gale." she answered with a smile, "and yeah, it's been interesting. You lose all that weight and suddenly guys pay more attention to you." It was true. "Hefty Hanna" never got the guy or anyone, minus a band geek here or there. Now that she looked better guys gave her attention from out of nowhere and it still continued to surprise her. "But what about you? Are you still with..?" she said changing the subject, her voice slowly trailing off as she failed to remember Gale's girlfriends name. Hanna immediately looked down, slightly embarrassed that she going remember the girl that Gale had dated for years.
