| [atrb=border,0,true] It was the same thing every day, get up around five in the afternoon, head out to a bar, and drink till four am. He never changed his ways and everyone knew where to find him. Most people looked down at Ethan for this life style, at the way he acted, but many of them just didn't understand what happened in his past, didn't get what he had been through, how he failed all the people around him already and how nothing mattered any more. They didn't get that this was more of a life than anything else. After Ethan had lost his wife to two a crazed murders who also tried to take Ethan's life, he was left with nothing, except the wish that he had died and not his wife. His wife had a family, had people who loved her, friends, he on the other hand had no one, he didn't have family, friends, all he had was her and she was gone and ever since she had been taken away from him, he had nothing to live for and often wondered why he tried.
Siting there at the bar, Ethan started to twirl his half empty glass, his eyes locked on a spot on the bar. He wasn't paying much attention to the things around him, lost in his own thoughts, wishing his buzz would finally kick in. He was already mostly done with his forth glass and he didn't feel a thing. That was the bad thing about his drinking problem, it was taking him longer and longer to get drunk. That was probably because his body was building up a resistance to it all. It was one of those things that after you do it a lot or have it in your a life a lot, you get use to it and it takes longer for the effects to kick in. Looking up, he quickly brought the glass to his lips and finished it before waving the bartender over for another "Um.. I'm sorry Ethan, but were not looking for trouble tonight, that's enough for you here. If you want more, please go somewhere else." He said softly, before Ethan looked up at him. "I don't even have a buzz and if Iv already been here this long you mid as well give me another. I'm not being annoying yet and you didn't refuse me when I first got here so..." He said looking up at the bartender who walked off to make him another drink. "Thanks dick." He said as he took the glass when the bartender returned. Shaking his head, he went back to looking at the spot, ignoring the things around him or the fact that the bartender was now on the phone making a call to someone.

The Words: 582 The Outfit: clothes The Notes meow Melanie’s life had not turned out the way she had planned by a long shot. She had never imagined that everything would be torn away from her, leaving her completely broken. It had been extremely difficult to wake up every morning with such a huge hole in her heart. The only thing that had kept her going was her son. Tucker had only been one at the time and it broke her heart knowing that he couldn’t really remember his father. There had been so much that Mason had wanted to teach their son and he never had the chance. Melanie at least had her memories; Tucker would grow up without any recollection of the man who had shaped his mother’s life. Sometimes the very thought made her want to scream and smash her fists against a wall. Mace was supposed to stay with her for the rest of her life, the few years they had shared had not been enough.
Losing her sister was another blow that she had hardly been able to handle. Her older sister had been her rock when she had lost Mason and now she felt completely lost. Tucker was the only thing that made her smile and go through every day. Losing so many important people had turned Melanie into a very protective mother bear who would not allow her son out of her sight. When she was at work she felt the need to check up on him at least once if not twice a day. Her own mother as well as her mother in law would take turns caring for the rambunctious boy as she was far too nervous to leave him with a stranger. Loss could do that to a person, even someone as bubbly and cheerful as Melanie. She was determined to keep everyone else in her life safe from harm including herself. She would not allow her son to lose both parents until they were both gray and wrinkled. Even then , death would have to force her over to the other side.
Her brother in law had taken a completely different approach after he was widowed. He shut down and lost all meaning in his life. He used to be a teacher but his drinking got in the way and now he spent all his time at the bar. Ethan had never been Melanie’s favorite person but she wasn’t about to let him drink his life away. Her sister would have wanted her to do her best to help him; she would have hated to see him become a drunken mess. It was that thought that had brought her to the bar in search of her lovely brother in law. She had left Tucker with her mother and now she was entering one of Ethan’s regular spots. Bars had never been a favorite of hers and she wasn’t a big drinker. A glass of wine every now and again was nice but she wasn’t the type to go out and let lose. She scanned the place and spotted him shouting an insult after the bartender. She took a deep breath and walked over to him, perching on a stool beside him. ”Come here often?” She asked, turning to face him so he could tell who she was. ”I’ve heard that you’ve basically moved in” Her voice remained rather detached but she couldn’t stop the small wave of concern that passed through her, he was her brother in law after all.
