[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] STILL HAVEN'T MET YOU YET The Words: 992 The Outfit: clicky The Notes seriously he's awesome Nervous really didn’t even begin to describe how Corbin felt. He really didn’t even understand why he was nervous. First off he had taken plenty of girls on dates. It wasn’t a foreign concept to the twenty-five year old. Second of all, this was Molly, his best friend. It wasn’t like it was going to be some awkward first date where you tried to get to know each other. No this was just going to be a date. Just a date, nothing more. He was pretty sure that if Der could hear his thoughts he would be telling him he had gone through a lot of trouble for just a date. Corbin pushed the little voice out of his head. Der wasn’t allowed in his head. That was his job, he got in Der’s head, not the other way around. He sighed as he got in his car, knowing that tonight would probably tell him everything that he had been wondering since he had left those seven years ago. At least she had said yes. At least she didn’t just not say anything. He also knew that whatever happened that night he couldn’t run away from his problems. He had to face them head on and just gone on with Molly being his friend.
As he drove to get her all of the thoughts of him pestering her in high school to go on a date came flooding back. Of course he always did it as a joke, and he would never admit that when she went on that date with Josh he was more than jealous. All through high school Molly’s answer had always been the same when he asked her on a date, no. When she said yes at Starbucks he was actually a little surprised. He rationalized it all by telling himself that she only said yes because she hadn’t seen her friend in a while. There was also the nagging feeling that it was all in pity. ‘I’d stay if you wanted me to.’ The whole scene replayed in his mind once more. He shook his head as he pulled up to her house. He couldn’t be letting himself think like that when he was about to spend the next few hours with her. It was Molly. The same Molly he had always known. The Molly that had been there for him when his home life got bad. The Molly that stole his clothes when he was high. The Molly that convinced him that smothering peanut butter on his chest would make his high more intense. Also when he was high. Just Molly.
Corbin parked his car and checked himself in the mirror. Why in the hell did he just do that? This was just Molly. He needed to just calm down. He took a deep breath and got out of the car, making his way up to the door. He knocked and waited for her to answer the door. When she did he couldn’t help but contain his smile. ‘You look great Mols. May I?’ he asked offering her his arm. When she took it he walked her down to his car, opening the door for her and closing it once she was in. He got into his side of the car and started it. ‘I think you’re going to like what I have planned.’ Once again he smiled really big. He had literally spent all day setting up, with a little help from Der. He had never gone through this much effort for a girl before, with the exception of the girl he dated his first year of college. Yet he kept telling Der that it was just Molly and it was just a date.
After a long drive Corbin finally pulled up to their destination. It was their field. The field where all their memories were made. Corbin got drunk for the first time here. Hell, he got high for the first time here. They spent the best day he could ever pin point in his life here. And he spent some of his worst. And it was where he had kissed Molly. It was where he had seen her before he left. And this was where he was taking her on their first date. He had always figured that one day Der would propose to Anna in this field. He also always thought that one day maybe one day when the four friends were old and retired they would meet up here and have one last beer. Corbin knew that the last one wasn’t going to happen, or even the one prior to that. Too much had happened for that. But he was hoping to make one last good memory in the field to make up for how poorly he left it seven years ago.
Corbin got out of the car and opened Molly’s door for her, shutting it once she got out. He made his way to the trunk, pulling a huge package of Red Vines and some beers out. He offered Molly his arm once more and lead her to the blanket that he had sprawled out. ‘How’m I doing so far?’ He could bet that Molly never in a million years would think that Corbin would come up with this, but he had. No help either. The only thing helped on was Der helping him set up and watching the place for a while when he went to get ready. Corbin reached up and hit play on the lap top and then popped open two beers, handing one to Molly. The opening credits for Sleepless in Seattle hit the screen and Corbin couldn’t help but smile as he thought of all the times the two of them had watched it. He wouldn’t admit it, but after his whole jail debacle he had gone straight home locked his roommate out, and watched Sleepless in Seattle wishing she was there the whole time. |

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
Molly couldn't remember a time she had felt more nervous getting ready for a date.
She was never the nervous type, really; aside from the occasional butterflies and what if's, Molly was generally a fairly level-headed and realistic individual. Even in high school, when she was a little wilder than she was now, she didn't get extremely nervous. Granted, she had been much less reserved than she was now, but nerves still didn't apply like they did at the moment. She'd rummaged through her closet - twice - and half the clothes she wore were scattered over her bed, on her floor, some of them even managed to find their way through her open bedroom door and into the hallway beyond. A frustrated growl left her lips, which caught the great dane on her bed's attention. The dog whined and raised his head, bringing a pile of shirts to life. Molly turned to look at Boo and laughed at the shirt that hung haphazardly off of the left side of his head. "Oh, Boo," She walked over to the dog and pulled the shirt off of his head. The majority of his thin, long body was covered by a pair of skinny jeans and he'd found one of her shoes. "Sorry buddy." She pulled the clothes off the dog and laughed. "Date night." The dog stared at her and she laughed, even more, because now she was explaining that it was date night to a dog. One exasperated huff later, Molly had turned back to her dismal closet - and entire room - and resolved to just pick something decent at random. Details of the date were a surprise, so she she settled on something nice but functional, in case she ended up rock climbing or something. Picking out a pair of skinny jeans and a white top, Molly changed quickly and made an effort to repair the tragic state of her room.
Make up and hair. Right. She did them both fairly quickly, settling with minimalistic make up and a few loose curls in her blonde hair. She'd gone on more dates in her life than she cared to count, but this one was different. Half of her life she'd looked at Corbin Castleman as a little brother, nothing more than that. And then he went and complicated everything when he left for college, and left her feeling rotten and somehow imbibed with a sense of obligation. She'd said no to him all those years ago and everything had hit the fan, so she'd simply had to say yes this time, for fear history would repeat itself. She didn't need to give Corbin Castleman another reason to leave Ocean City when he'd just gotten there to begin with.
She sighed, raked her fingers through her curls and turned back to her room. Almost, as if on cue, there was a knock and she looked over at Boo. "I'll be back later, be a good boy, don't eat my clothes. Or that shoe." She plucked the sandal from him, strapped it onto her foot and trotted to the door. Putting her best, mega-watt smile on, Molly opened it and assessed the damage. Well, definitely no five star restaurant - which was good, because she was definitely not dressed for it either. She laughed when he complimented her. "Thank you, Corbin," It was strange, trying to get used to the dating scenario with Corbin. Corbin, of all people; her best friend for most of her life, the little kid brother, the one who ran off to Texas. The boy who kissed her on the hood of her car in a field on his last day in town. The one who came back and didn't even tell her. That fact was first and foremost in her head; he was the kid who came back and didn't tell her. She couldn't, in good conscience, blame him for that after all. Molly had been given the key to keep him there, in Ocean City, and she hadn't used it. She just sat there and didn't say a word. Molly bit back the urge to sigh and took Corbin's arm, following him out to his car. This wouldn't end badly, she kept telling herself, it wouldn't end badly. Please don't let it end badly.
During the drive, Molly began to recognize things. Of course she lived there, and had her whole life, but things became more familiar. She knew the route they were taking, and they pulled up to the familiar, if not infamous field shortly thereafter. She looked at Corbin and pursed her lips, but didn't say a word. She was well aware of what had happened the last time she was in this field - she'd never gone back, not after Corbin left - and she really didn't want to pick up where the disaster had left off. She forced herself to smile as he came around the car to open the door, an unnecessary, but surprisingly chivalrous gesture. "So, the field, eh?" She looked nostalgically over the field, which had changed slightly in the seven years since she had seen it, but ultimately it was the same field. It was the same place she had built most of her memories with her friends, from dares to drinks to sitting out late at night and looking up at the stars, or being out past dark and getting unexpectedly rained on. She smiled fondly at it, because how couldn't she? Despite its blemish, the field was the single point in time and space that she had been happiest. She followed him out to the back of the car while he got the beers and Red Vines - of course - and then walked with him to a blanket he had set up.
A picnic? She furrowed her brow slightly, trying to determine what he'd set up. It wasn't like he'd gone and taken her to a movie or a dinner, which were staples in dating, but he'd set something up himself. Part of her admired the thought that he had obviously put into this, and part of her was very flattered. She sat down beside him on the blanket and took the beer when he handed it to her. "This..." She said, motioning vaguely with her hand to everything around her, "This is amazing." It took her a while, to get the words out, because she was actually pretty impressed. Sleepless In Seattle started when he pressed the laptop button, and Molly actually laughed. "Really?" Of course. Of any and all movies for them to watch on a first date, it would be Sleepless In Seattle. Molly couldn't even tell anyone how many times they had watched it together, a go-to when one of them needed a break, or when they just wanted to hang out and do something together. It was so blatantly a chick flick too, but Corbin had watched it with her tirelessly, never once complaining about it. She smiled, a genuine gesture, as she looked to the screen. And yet somehow, she had forgotten how sad the movie started. Tom Hanks' wife was dead, and he had a kid, and that was that. She could quote the movie beginning to end and backwards, and yet it struck her now that the beginning of the movie was sad. It ended okay though, that was all that ever mattered. She took a sip of her beer and stole a Red Vine. "I have to admit I'm a little impressed. Did Der help you?" She raised an eyebrow accusingly and poked him. "Not exactly what I'm used to from the Corbin Castleman brand. Well, except for Sleepless in Seattle. That's all you."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] STILL HAVEN'T MET YOU YET The Words: 734 The Outfit: clicky The Notes seriously he's awesome The whole thing was a little out of Corbin’s comfort zone. Sure he had taken girls on dates before. He even had come up with some creative ideas, not like he had ever told anyone about them. No he just kept all the brilliant date ideas to himself. He had shared one or two with Der before. Well that was before Der started calling him a closeted romantic. Once that started Cor no longer shared what he did when he took girls out. It was just easier to tell his friends that they went to dinner, then a movie where they ended up making out. Ninety percent of the time that was true, but there were those few girls who Corbin felt deserved more than just dinner and a movie. Most of the time these girls were also the ones that he just felt like he needed to catch them and the only way to do that was to do something out of the ordinary. The only exception was Justine. He had fallen hard for that girl and took her on a hot air balloon ride for a date once. After she had broken up with him and almost got him put in jail he stopped doing over the top romantic things. He just stuck to picking girls up, having sex with them, and sneaking out the next morning. This really was the first time he was doing something so out of the norm in the past six years.
Cor couldn’t help but shoot her a toothy grin at her question. ‘I figured all of my other great memories were made her, so why not add another to the list.’ That of course was only half of the reason he had picked the fields. Despite the fact that it was a great spot for what he had planned, he needed to make up for how he left things here. He felt like his life had ended in the fields that seven years ago. It was the last time he had seen Anna and he didn’t even say bye. It was the first time he had not told his best friend that he was leaving or where he was going. This field also held the only secret he had kept from the man. Corbin had never really told Der what happened that night and Der had never asked. He figured that Der would have only bugged him if he thought something really important had happened. Although the fact that Corbin left without a word though insinuated that something did happen, but he was glad that his best friend had never pressed him. It was a memory he always tried to forget, even if it did haunt his dreams.
A smirk played on Corbin’s lips as he realized how impressed she was. It wasn’t every day that he saw Molly Haralson speechless. Actually, in all of his memories of her, speechless was never a word he could ever use to describe her. Wild, outspoken, loud, or crazy sure, but speechless had never been in that line of words that described his best friends. ‘Ya I know.’ He laughed as he slightly bumped his shoulder against hers and then taking a sip of his beer. Another laugh escaped his lips as she questioned the movie that started playing on the screen. ‘Yes really Mols. You couldn’t expect me not to play this. I haven’t seen it in seven years.’ There was no way he was telling her that he had in fact watched the movie several times in the past seven years. Every time he was upset he would clear the area, making sure no one was there to revoke his man card, popped it in and cuddled his pillow. He had actually only watched it a few weeks prior. Right after he quit. Like Molly he could quote the entire movie and knew it backwards and forwards. That’s what you got for practically watching it a millions times. ‘Really? I feel honored to have impress the great Molly Haralson.’ At the question Corbin shook his head. ‘Only thing Der helped with was the set up.’ Corbin grabbed the finger that poked him and without really thinking playfully bit it. ‘Ya well ask Der. Apparently I’m a closeted romantic.’ Corbin smiled softly and leaned his head against her, taking another sip. ‘It’s all us, Molly, all us.’

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
All the other great memories were made here, so he might as well add another. That meant two things; that yes, a lot of good memories were made here, and that he intended tonight to be just as good. Well, no one purposefully set out and aspired for a bad date, but he had high hopes for this venture. Which was probably a good thing, considering how much time he had put into this, and the effort and everything. Molly was genuinely surprised that it wasn't a generic date. It wasn't dinner, or a movie, or going to see a play or something. Heck, it wasn't even rock climbing. It was something he had thought out and obviously tailored to fit her, because who else would he watch Sleepless In Seattle with? Der? The thought almost made her laugh. She nodded in agreement. "Yeah, this field has seen some pretty crazy times." It had become the backdrop of their youths, something as integral to their lives as their skin and bones or the houses that they grew up in. They had left the field in bad shape though, seven years ago with that one night that changed everything. Molly leaned into him a little and bumped her arm against his. "I think the field missed you." She said simply. Molly knew she had missed the field, and more importantly what it represented in her life.
Corbin had left that night without saying goodbye to anyone, Molly found out later on of course. She had walked home, not because she was too drunk to drive, but because she didn't trust herself to and she wanted some time to think. Thinking that night had been a bad idea, though. Der had told her later on that Corbin hadn't said goodbye, and Anna had confirmed the story. Naturally, she assumed they thought something had happened while they were gone, and the occasional looks Anna would give her only solidified the theory in Molly's mind. She honestly hadn't meant to ruin everything, but she just hadn't been ready, she wasn't ready for that kind of responsibility. And worse, she knew Corbin was leaving, he hated Ocean City, and what was to say that, even if she did ask him to stay, that the words of one intoxicated boy would mean anything? Perhaps her only fear larger than staying quiet and Corbin leaving was asking him not to and having him leave all the same. Sitting there in the field seven years later was surreal, and it was impossible not to think about that night. What would have happened if he would have stayed?
"It has been a while." She agreed. Not that it really was, she watched it a lot actually. The first year after Corbin left she wouldn't touch the movie, wouldn't look at it, and was thankfully happy that it wasn't that large in popular culture to have to avoid references of quotes. But occasionally she'd hear someone say a line in the movie, completely unintentional, and she'd become agitated. Time eased her dislike toward it though, and eventually she watched it. It was never the same though, not like with Corbin. She couldn't quote things in a funny voice or point out her pet peeves with the movie to anyone but her empty room. It wasn't fun anymore; the movie had lost its magic when Corbin left. She laughed when he said he was honored to have impressed her. "It's not that big of a deal." She said, in regards to her being impressed. Sure, Molly wasn't really impressed by a lot, but it wasn't like she was unimpressed by it either. This, though - this was something big for Corbin, she had a feeling. Well, maybe not, it wasn't like he'd had his shortage of dates or anything since she'd known him... But something about it was nice, some intangible, unknown factor. Perhaps it was the nostalgia of the field or the movie, or just being able to see him again, or... Well, she didn't really know. "Ow! Hey!" She laughed between the interjections, pulling her finger away from his teeth. "Fingers are not for biting." [/b] She pushed her shoulder into him - why had he gotten so tall? It wasn't like it had been all those years ago, when he was only a decent bit taller than herself. Now it was like trying to move a mountain. She was still laughing though, and she could still feel the line along her finger where his teeth had gently grazed it. "Closeted romantic, eh?" She said thoughtfully, her eyes focused on the screen. She knew exactly what was happening in the movie, didn't even need to watch it to really know. "I wouldn't have believed that in a million years." She said, beginning in jest but then become slightly more serious. "Well maybe now, this I wouldn't have expected out of you, either." It was nice though, it was impossibly nice what he had done for her. Corbin leaned against her and she smiled. It was actually really different, being so close to him after so long. He hadn't changed and yet, at the same time he really had, in all the ways that mattered. Her eyes flicked to him for a moment, and she just allowed herself to enjoy the moment, before they went back toward the screen. Tom Hanks' character Sam was in grief counseling, before his son tried to convince him to date again. The plot of the movie was a little hard to believe sometimes, but she always got caught up in how cute it was to really even care. He was talking about his wife, and how he'd just helped her out of a taxi one day and he just knew. He said it was like coming home, like magic; it had always been her favorite part of the movie when she was younger, because she'd needed to believe in that perfect love when her world had essentially fallen apart and she didn't believe in much else besides it. Perhaps that was why she liked the movie so much, because everything in Tom Hanks' life was ruined because his wife had cancer and died, and yet he still fell in love with Meg Ryan's character and they were happy despite it. When she was younger she needed to believe in that. "All us." She parroted when he said it, quieter and subdued because part of her was paying attention to the scene and part of her was reflecting on what was even going on. She never would have expected this to happen seven years ago, then again, she wouldn't have expected any of this. Molly relaxed, and let herself lean into her friend. "This is actually really nice, Corbin." There was no hint of a joke in her voice, just seriousness, just thankfulness. It was nice to get out and enjoy herself, something she had forgotten about recently. It was even better, though, with him. "I always wondered, do you think Sam would have gone out and found someone, even if Jonah hadn't made him? Like - if none of this had happened with the radio show, do you think he would have ever been happy?" She thought as she leaned against him, her eyes focused on the movie. If Jonah hadn't called into the radio station, would Sam have been okay? Would he have been miserable? "It's just sort of crazy, how one little thing changes everything."[/div] WORDS --- / OUTFIT / TAGGED MAE & CORBIN / awwwwww [/center]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] STILL HAVEN'T MET YOU YET The Words: 813 The Outfit: clicky The Notes only because it's you The butterflies in Corbin’s stomach had not calmed down since he had left the field earlier that day after setting up. This was the date. The date he had been waiting for since he had met Molly and now he had it and he just wanted it to be perfect. He knew that the field had a lot of great memories, and it also had a bad one or two, but he was hoping that this would wash the last memory the two of them shared away. Not only would that make him feel better, but he also hoped that it would help the memory not haunt him anymore. ‘I think crazy is an understatement. Psychopathic is a good word to describe a lot of what happened.’ Corbin couldn’t help but let out a laugh at that one. High school really had been crazy. Most of the crazy had happened in that field too. He really had missed this field more than he thought he had. It was funny how you didn’t realize how much you missed something until you saw it again. ‘Well I missed this field. And how couldn’t I?’ Corbin shot her a weak smile knowing they both knew how he could not miss this field, but he just pushed the thought away, not wanting that night to ruin this night.
It was weird to think about that night while sitting in the field where it had happened. One simple question with a different answer could have possibly changed his whole life. As much as he hated Ocean City back then, and still did, he would have stayed for Molly. She had been the only thing worth staying for. Sure there was Der, but he was gone most of the year anyways at school. For Molly he would have done anything. She actually made Ocean City more bearable, so if she had told him to stay his bags would have instantly been unpacked. Of course, that wasn’t what happened. Something that kept him away from the city and his best friends was the real outcome. He would never know what would have happened in the long run if she had told him to stay, all he knew was he was going to make the best of being with her right then.
‘Oh contraire. I have never impressed you so it is a huge deal.’ Corbin put more emphasis on the word huge as he spoke, letting a small smirk play on his lips. He had never really been an impressive teenager. Not that it wasn’t because he didn’t have the ability to be impressive, it was he never had the drive to truly impress Molly. Probably because he had always told himself that it was some silly high school crush that would fade, even when it hadn’t after four years. ‘They are when they are in my face.’ A devilish grin graced his face as she pushed him. He softly pushed her small frame back, enjoying that he was so much taller than her now. ‘Ya…let’s just forget I ever admitted to that one.’ Corbin looked at his feet wishing he wouldn’t have parroted the words that Der had once said. ‘Ya well, I have to keep you on your toes don’t ?’ He looked back up to her with a soft smile. Thoughts of kissing her rushed through his head, but he pushed them away. He was not letting that happen again. Friends. That’s always how this relationship had been and most likely how it always would be.
He couldn’t suppress his smile as she repeated the words he had said. The movie defined the last two years they had had together and he had missed it. He missed it more than he had ever let himself realize. Now that he was back, with Molly, watching this movie he had to admit to himself that he wished he would have stayed even though she hadn’t answered. ‘I’m glad you like it Molly.’ He let himself move his arm closest to her a bit so that she wasn’t having to lean against his bony shoulder as much. Corbin swallowed the lump in his throat that had instantly formed as she started to ask the question. Although he knew it was just about the movie, it seemed like so much more. ‘I do think he would have been happy Molly. He would have found someone who made him just as happy.’ Corbin’s mind drifted to Der. Sure the man put up a good front, but Der worried about him. He was sure that one day he would find someone who made him happy, but he doubted that Der would ever love someone as much as he loved Anna. He hoped he would find that again, but he didn’t know if he would. ‘It really is,’ he said in an almost whisper.

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
The field had seen everything, and psychotic was a pretty good way to describe those things. It was the citadel of their teenage years, the symbol for their youth, everything good went into this field - even some bad, too. Molly tried very hard not to let that night creep into her mind, but little details seemed to worm their way into her thoughts. The stars, or the car, or things that Der and Anna had said before everything went to hell. It was hard to believe, with little, infinite details she remembered, that the night had been years ago. Over half a decade ago. She could still remember what she had worn, and how warm the night felt, and the way the stars twinkled in the sky. She could remember the hazy light on the horizon from Ocean City, which was not unlike the way it was tonight. That night had been clear, not a cloud in the sky. She remembered how unfitting it seemed, after she had gone home to cry herself to sleep, that such a perfect night was wasted on a rotten event. Like she had been doing for the past ten minutes, Molly pushed those thoughts from the forefront of her mind and willed them, hopelessly, to stay buried where they belonged at least long enough for her to enjoy fixing them. Though a little nagging part of her crept up to tell her that she'd never be able to fix them, at least not as well as she hoped she might. It didn't help when Corbin sent her that weak smile, because she saw right through it and knew he was thinking exactly what she was.
Molly had hoped, that maybe if Corbin never came back, that she could move on and forget about what had happened. That she ruined everyone's lives, in some minor way or another. She had almost gotten there too, until Anna died, and then things hit again. Molly had been a small mess for a few months after her friend died, and when she'd finally recovered, things seemed bleak. At random moments of the day she'd be reminded that Corbin never got to say goodbye to her - a thought punctuated by his presence at her funeral - or that she had been the direct cause of that. The idea that Corbin was thinking about that now bothered her, just a bit. It made thinking about tonight, rather than a night seven or so years ago, more difficult when she knew he was thinking about the disaster too. And those little details hit her with more force than they had before, making it impossible to think about anything else. Molly took a breath, a slow thing to calm herself down, and focused pointedly on the screen. She didn't want to look at Corbin's face, not while she knew he was thinking what she was; she didn't want to risk seeing disappointment, or worse, hurt. Because she had hurt him, immensely, and that was the worst part of the entire ordeal.
So when the subject changed, Molly was relieved. She let out a laugh, bubblier and more genuine than she would have expected from herself, when he said he had never impressed her. "You have, too!" She rebutted, although she could not remember a time when he had impressed her for the better. Maybe some less-honorable feats, like just how big of a whorebag he could be, or how many times he could pester a single girl for a date; those had all impressed her, but not positively. Molly figured it would probably be a bad idea to mention those now. She made an exaggerated frowning face when he talked about her fingers. "Not even then!" She retorted, resiting the urge to pout or cross her arms childishly. It was amazing how much her behavior could regress around her best friend. She snorted when he said they ought to forget he had said that. "Nope! It's already been said, Corbin Castleman, there's no backspace button for your mouth." Although, undoubtedly, Corbin could have definitely used one at a few points in his life. Molly could have though, too. Especially seven years ago. It was an interesting thought though, that Corbin was a closet romantic. She couldn't even imagine it, to be honest; it was like suggesting a turtle might one day grow wings and fly. That was not to say that Molly thought he wasn't capable of doing nice things - he was doing a nice thing for her right now - but the idea that it was romantic? It was hard to comprehend, really. Molly hadn't even been aware that Corbin knew the word.
Corbin shifted his arm and she took advantage of the movement, scooting herself in so she could tuck herself against him. It was amazing how it was late summer and the evenings could still be colder than one would expect. And she hadn't necessarily dressed for the outdoors, either. Corbin was warm, too, a fact that she latched onto as she snuggled in closer to his chest. She repeated the thought in her head to justify herself - he was warm, she was cold, basic survival instinct. She refused to admit to herself that it might be anything else, although in all reality she was aware on some subconscious level that that was definitely the case. She continued on with the conversation, which had taken a somewhat somber tone, as she weaseled her way in closer to him. "You think so?" It was an interesting answer, one she hadn't expected . "I don't think he would have. I think he would have been alone." She had always thought Tom Hanks' character would have never gone out and tried to find anyone, for fear of ruining what he thought of his wife. Perhaps he had even overly romanticized her in her absence, but she never considered the idea that he might be alright without her. When he answered her, she pursed her lips, unable to see his face because she'd tucked her head into his collarbone, but he had hardly whispered an answer back to her. Molly curled her legs in toward her and sat there, thinking about themselves. It was hard not to be overcome with emotion, and Molly was painfully aware of a dull sensation in the center of her chest, foreign and heavy, something she wasn't quite sure of. It was there though, something new, completely alien. She also knew she didn't want to think about it much, but the feeling was there, nonetheless.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] STILL HAVEN'T MET YOU YET The Words: 835 The Outfit: clicky The Notes rain or bust Cor was honestly trying to forget the night seven years prior. He just wanted to enjoy his time with Molly now. He wanted to live in the moment. He wanted to just forget the past and live in the present. There was so much more than that night that he wanted to forget too. Not like he would ever tell Molly about the other instances where she slightly broke his heart in that field. No, he wasn’t going to add that to her conscious which he knew was probably weighed down with the memory of that night. He knew his best friend and he knew that no matter what, even if it really wasn’t her fault, she was going to blame herself for all of the domino effects that happened because of her answer on that night. His mind pushed past that night to a night two years prior. It was the night before Der and Anna had left for school. It was the night before the whole dynamic of his and Molly’s friendship would change. Of course the festivities had taken place in that field. Der had snuck out some beer from his house and Molly had brought a bottle of tequila. It was that night that Cor had realized how much Der loved Anna. He always knew his best friend cared about the girl, but that night he could tell how deep it really went just by the way he looked at the girl. He could tell Anna reciprocated it too. Of course he was happy for his two friends, but that night he realized something else. To Molly he would always be that freshman boy who tried to flirt with her the first time they met who she put up with because he was Der’s best friend. That truly was the first time Molly had broken his heart. Same place just two years previous. Cor was crossing his fingers that history didn’t repeat itself for a third time.
Cor rolled his eyes and shook his head. ‘When?’ At the silence he smirked because he knew he was right. ‘See you can’t think of a thing.’ It was the total opposite when it came to Molly impressing Cor though. She just never ceased to amaze him. The thing that stood out in his mind most was how she dropped everything to help her mom after her dad died. Not a lot of children would do that for their parents, especially if they could continue their education so they could move on with their lives. Not Molly though, she dropped out of school and came back to make sure her mother was taken care of. In a strange way he was grateful for that because if she hadn’t done that then his last two years of high school he would have been all alone while his three friends were off at school and him and Molly would have never become as close as they were. ‘Oh especially then Mols. Didn’t you know that?’ Cor laughed a bit at her reaction. Man he really had missed joking around with her and making fun of her. Why had he ever left this? ‘Molly Haralson you should invent one for me. Because that should be a thing.’ Corbin could have used that on countless occasions. Some pretty dumb stuff could come out of his mouth. At that moment though the only thing he wished he could use it on was that night in the field. He knew he had put Molly in a bad spot and if he could he would take it back. All he needed was a time machine and a backspace button for his mouth. ‘So cynical Molly.’ He guessed he always thought that Tom Hank’s character would end up happy because he hoped that if he never got to be with Molly he would still be happy. That he would move on. That he wouldn’t dwell on her forever. Cor lightly smiled as she moved closer to him. He wrapped his arm around her, feeling the small goose bumps on her arm as he let his hand rest on him. He liked this. Sure they had cuddled before, but for some reason this just felt different. Corbin took a deep breath telling himself that there was no need to let his imagination run wild or to get his hopes up. This wasn’t different, it was just like every other time. ‘So do you think Der will ever be happy then?’ If she didn’t think Tom Hanks would be then he wondered if she felt the same about Der, or even himself but he wasn’t going to bring that up. He rested his chin on the top of her head, looking past the projection screen into the night sky. A low rumble reached his ears and he could see a few clouds forming far in the distance. They seemed far enough out though so he doubted that it would hit them before they left. |

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
There were plenty of times that Molly missed Anna, and none more than these. She missed being able to hang out with her - she was the only other girl in their crazy group, the only person she could really talk to about girl things. Sure, she could talk to Corbin about almost anything, but she couldn't girl-talk with him. She couldn't go home from this date and call Anna up and tell her she wouldn't believe what Corbin had wrestled her into, and that he'd actually grown up an ounce since he left for Texas. She hated to think about things that way, but it was hardly a year and it seemed so much fresher. She missed her friend all the time, missed her so much that she had no idea how Derrick kept on going. The movie was approaching the end of the middle, and Tom Hanks' son was conspiring to arrange a meeting at the Empire State Building for the two of them. Molly knew how it went, but every time he went up to the woman and asked if they were Meg Ryan's character, Molly couldn't help but let her breath catch. It was hard not to, even when she knew that Meg Ryan would show up later and Tom Hanks would fly to New York to find his son, and they would all live happily ever after. Part of her just expected the movie to change. It would be much more realistic if it did.
"You really do need a backspace button for your mouth, Mister Closeted Romantic." She giggled, because it was funny. The idea of Der thinking that about Cor was just too much for her to bear, and the giggles erupted from her like a pot boiling over. "I'll see what I can do. But it may involve duct tape." She laughed again. There were plenty of times she'd wanted to take a roll of duct tape to Corbin's mouth, although now really wasn't one of those times. "But no, these are my fingers, thanks." She wiggled her fingers in the air in front of her, and then in front of him. She sucked in a breath and laughed again, quickly pulling her hand away before he could bite at it again. She was so happy he was back, so glad that she could sit and be goofy with him again, like they used to be all those years ago before everything went to hell. Sure, not everything was great, but she had Corbin and he had her and together they were an unstoppable force. It had ended on that sour note though, but she was willing to look past that as best she could. It was too good to be able to joke with him again to let the last time she saw him completely spoil everything. But despite her wishes, the reminders were everywhere, and she'd never completely escape that night seven years ago.
"I am not cynical." She huffed, leaning against him. "I mean... I guess I always just thought that there's like... one person for everyone, you know?" It was bizarre, Corbin's chin resting on the top of her head. He had never been so tall before, and it was bizarre now that he was. Molly had never been tall, not once in her life, but Corbin had at least been average sized once. And when she huddled up to watch Sleepless In Seattle with him then, it wasn't quite so odd. But now he practically enveloped her, whether he wanted to or not. She smiled a little as he wrapped an arm around her, and she huddled in closer to the warmth. "If it wasn't for his son, Tom Hanks' character would have thought it was his dead wife, I guess. Maybe all along with was Meg Ryan. Not to demean what he had with his wife." She shrugged a little against him and pulled her knees up to her chest. Molly swirled the beer bottle in her hand around in a few lazy circles, watching the light catch the liquid as it sloshed. "I hope Der will be happy." She said without hesitation. "And as much as I'd like to think Anna was the girl for him, I also equally - if not moreso - do not want him to be miserable. He's too young to live out the rest of his life alone and sad." Even the thought of Der growing old, raising Dmitri on his own, made her want to squirm. "After everything Der's gone through, he deserves to be happy." They all really did, to one extreme or a lesser one. Molly was still acutely aware of that bizarre feeling, almost like her chest had tightened up and all the muscles were taut. It wasn't entirely uncomfortable, just enough so that she paid express attention to it. It was almost a little like butterflies, but they had migrated up her esophagus. She looked out at the clouds that were hanging over the horizon, almost ominously. "Sounds like thunder." She said simply, listening to the rumble. Convenient of course; right when she didn't really want to move, or back out, or go anywhere, rain would threaten them. She squinted past the bright projection screen at a slender line of white that arced into the sky at the horizon. "You don't think it's gonna move over here, do you?" She asked of the storm, grabbing onto his wrist so she could wrap his arm tighter around her. "You still make an excellent blanket, by the way, especially now that you've grown like ten feet." She joked, rolling her head back so she could look up at him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] STILL HAVEN'T MET YOU YET The Words: 965 The Outfit: clicky The Notes rain or bust Corbin often wondered if it was weird for Molly to not have that best friend who was a female anymore. Cor knew that as soon as this date was over he would make his way to Der’s house and spill everything. Man that made him sound like a girl, but Molly just confused the heck out of him and Der was his best friend. He told the man everything. Well…almost everything. Cor had never told him about that night seven years ago and the way Der acted he figured Molly had never said anything either. Anyways, he knew he would go and tell Der all about the date and Der would mock him and Cor would punch him in the arm and they probably would drink because well that’s what guys did. Corbin knew that Molly didn’t have that girlfriend to go and gush the details about her date with or someone to give her advice or anything. Cor knew that she always told him everything, but you can’t discuss a date with the person you had just been on the date with. That was just weird. His mind wandered a little. It made him wonder how many discussions Molly had had with Anna. He wondered if she had told her about that night. He wondered what Anna responded. He missed the girl. He missed the way that Der use to light up when talking about her. He missed how she would try and convince Molly and Der not to convince a high Corbin to do something outrageous even though it never worked. He missed calling her up at random times to ask her about some girl. He had to keep himself from frowning as he thought about the last time he talked to her. Sure the last time he had actually seen her was that night seven years ago, but he had talked to her on the phone two months prior to her death. It had been about Molly. He hadn’t talked to her in a while and he wanted to check up on her without actually checking up on her. Anna had said she was holding it together well. He could still hear Anna’s words in his head telling him he should just come back and fight for the girl. He wished he had now. He could have had a few more laughs with his friend if he had. But his pride won out and he stayed in Texas. He regretted that decision every day.
A frown met his face as she held his stupid comment over her head. ‘You are going to forever hold that over my head aren’t you?’ He didn’t even need an answer from her. He already knew the answer. It was Molly. Of course she was going to hold it over his head. When he was ninety she would still be holding over his head all like remember when you told me you were a closeted romantic and then laugh at him. Ya he definitely signed his fate with that one. ‘Duct tape is not a back space button. It’s a prevent you from talking thing. Not the same.’ Corbin shook his head at that. He did not like the idea of duct tape near his mouth. That had happened once when he was in Texas and he did not want to be revisiting that experience any time soon. An evil glint raised in his eyes as she wiggled her fingers in his face. He playfully bit the air knowing he wouldn’t get them. He then reached out and took her hand in his and smiled. ‘My fingers now.’ Ok ya that sounded cheesy, but he really couldn’t help it. Any reason to be closer to her was a good reason for him.
Corbin chuckled as she huffed about not being cynical. As she spoke he could see where she was coming from. Although at the same time she hoped that her view of love wasn’t true. The only reason he hoped this was because what if he wasn’t the one for Molly? What then? ‘Ya I guess I get what you’re saying.’ His tone was a little more serious because the thoughts about how he might not be the one for her were quickly brewing in his head like the storm clouds on the horizon. ‘Who knows, they could have still found each other. I mean if they were meant to be don’t you think they would have?’ He sure hoped that if they were meant to be that everything would work out or what would be the point of just having one person who you were supposed to end up with? ‘I heard he’s been dating at least. I don’t know how it’s going. I just want him to be happy too but I’m not sure if he’ll ever love anyone like he loved Anna.’ Cor did believe that Der could love again, but he didn’t know if it would ever be the same. No one could ever take the place of your first love. Cor nodded to her observation, choosing not to sass back some smart aleck comment. ‘I sure hope not. Pretty sure Der would kill me if his projection stuff got soaked.’ Cor knew they could try and salvage all the electronics if it did start raining, but he knew he was going for his computer before anything. He needed that for work. Cor smiled softly as she pulled his arm tighter around her. He liked this and he honestly wished that they never had to move. Just freeze time here and he would be happy. ‘I did not grow ten feet. It was only seven. Get it right.’ Cor laughed at this, looking back down at her. Man had he missed her. |

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
Molly leaned her back against him as he chomped at the air where her fingers had been. "What, the closeted romantic?" She smiled. "Of course not. Of all the things I could have ever labelled you, 'closeted romantic' is definitely not one of them. I'll have to go do some field research and ask Der why he seems to think so." She was a bit curious as to his reasoning, simply because it was so beyond what Molly had stereotyped as Corbin behavior. Der probably knew more about Corbin than she did, though, so she'd happily hit him up for information. "But, then again, I definitely wouldn't have pegged this as Corbin behavior either." She said, waiving her hand vaguely to the get up around them. It was impressive, and the fact that Corbin had done all of this, for her, was even more impressive. Molly tried very hard not to let a smile slip across her lips as he reached for her hand and held it in his own. It was a bizarre feeling, something she wasn't opposed to, just... Made curious by. In fact, she was finding she rather liked it, which was a bit alarming in and of itself, but Molly made a point not to show that. She squeezed his hand with her much smaller one and looked to the screen. She had watched the movie so many times that she didn't have to pay attention to it to know exactly what was going on, in fact, she could probably even leave for a half hour and still be able to rattle off the scene. Maybe even the frame, or the line, if she was feeling spot on that day.
She shifted slightly as his tone grew more serious. "Well of course they would have. Well, maybe. One way or another, if they were meant to be, they would be. Something would happen and everything would be alright. The stars would align and all that jazz." She said, leaning her head back against him. "There's that one someone that everyone has, and fate has a funny way of bringing them together in the end." Without flaw, without error, that's how it worked. Fate had a funny way of doing things like that, of pulling things out of nowhere when you least expected them. "I don't know, maybe it's just some silly girl thing. But that's how I've always felt about it." She shrugged and took in a breath, as if to dismiss the matter. It probably was pretty childish to think that way, a bit ridiculous even, but she did. Perhaps it was like believing in Santa Claus, where you had to be proven wrong to stop believing. So she'd sit there and go on believing until something proved her wrong. That considered, maybe Anna and Derrick really weren't meant to be. Maybe Der had been Anna's someone, but she wasn't his. It was a bit tragic to think of things that way, and Molly wasn't sure how fond of the idea she was, especially having seen them together. "He's dating? Really?" She turned a little, startled by the news. He hadn't said anything to her about dating anyone, and she had seen him the same day she found out Corbin was back in town. "Well, that's great! I mean, hopefully everything is going well for him. It must be if he's dating someone." Again, with everyone holding things over her head. It was getting a bit annoying, not being kept in the loop, but she wasn't there to be annoyed with withheld information. Besides, if Der was happy, Molly was happy. "Good on him."
On the horizon, the clouds loomed ominously. She could have sworn they were closer than they had been a moment ago. Thunder clapped loudly and she startled, jumping a little at the sound. Lightning arced again, followed by another loud bang. "It sure sounds like it's getting closer." Molly glanced worriedly to the electronics that they had set up outside. If it started raining, that would be terrible. She furrowed her eyebrows and glanced back up to the clouds in the distance. "Damn it." Molly huffed at the weather, as if her input would have any say in the matter. "Of course it would rain, wouldn't it?" It hadn't started yet, thankfully, but she had a feeling it probably would. There was a thin electric buzz to the air, the kind that happened before a storm, and there was a breeze that hadn't been present a few moments prior. "We should probably think about packing up before this thing gets us." She looked around to the technology. That was a bummer, ruining something that Corbin had obviously put some thought into. "The universe obviously saw that something was amiss with Corbin Castleman and is trying to restore its natural order and balance." She laughed jokingly. It was sweet that he had done all of this for her, and it really sucked that there was rain threatening it. She laughed even harder when he said he had grown seven feet, not ten. Molly leaned forward away from him and threw her shoulders back at him playfully. "I'm pretty sure it was ten." She laughed, digging her heels into the blanket so she could push her back against him, all the while still holding onto his arm. "It doesn't matter though, because you're a giant amongst us Lilliputians here." Even Der was tall compared to her, and he was pretty average sized for a man. Corbin, on the other hand, had shot up like a weed. Molly wiggled and pushed her heels further into the blanket for leverage, well aware that she was flirting with her best friend. But she didn't really mind, because the bizarre feeling in her chest was sated, and everything seemed alright with the world.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] STILL HAVEN'T MET YOU YET The Words: 907 The Outfit: clicky The Notes rain or bust Corbin rolled his eyes with a small smile as she continued to make fun of. He quickly made a mental note that he needed to threaten Der not to say a word about why he had labeled the man a closeted romantic. That would just give Molly more leverage to tease him about it. No he wouldn’t have that happening. ‘You can ask him all the questions you want Miss Haralson, but there is no way in hell he is telling you why.’ Corbin smiled a satisfied smile at this knowing that Der would be on his side because even though the three of them were friends, Cor and Der had that friends since they were tiny children bond that could not be broken. Plus the whole bros before hoes thing. Not that he was calling Molly a hoe. Not at all. And not demeaning her friendship with Der. He just knew that him and Der were closer and always would be. His smile widened as she said how this wasn’t normal Corbin behavior. To her knowledge it wasn’t, but he knew that it was. Well it was at least when it came to the girls he liked. He had always been good at this sort of stuff. Never good at the actual relationship part, but the planning a date tweaked to fit them so the girl would know he had never done anything like it before was very him. ‘I am a man of many surprises. You just haven’t discovered them all yet.’ His mind drifted to his days in Texas and how he was there. It was a lot different than the Corbin Blake Castleman that his friends knew. Der knew a bit of how he had been down south, but Cor really hadn’t gone into much detail.
It was a rarity to see or hear Cor serious. He was usually the fun one who was always goofing off. That being said though, Molly had seen him serious before. Like right after her dad died and he was the only one there. Serious Cor had come out and been there for her. There were only a handful of other times that he had been serious with Molly, the very last being that night seven years ago. It was weird to think their last encounter was him being serious instead of the silly, goofy kid he was. Corbin liked what Molly was saying about fate though and how it would have brought them together. He couldn’t help but think about how maybe that’s why he had to come back. He had “quit” his job and come back because the universe had to smoosh him and Molly back together. He liked that thought. At least some good would come out of coming back. ‘It’s not silly Molly. It makes sense.’ He smiled down at her with a small nod. He understood perfectly what she meant and wanted her to know that he didn’t think it was silly. Even though he would never admit it he did believe in fate, even if he didn’t believe that there was only love for everybody. ‘Ya recently dating. He’s only been on one date with the girl. He hasn’t told me much about her though.’ Ok that was a major lie. Corbin knew exactly who Der was dating and was in fact the person who pushed him towards it. The reason he wasn’t talking about it though was for two reasons. One was that it was Der’s information to tell and two he knew Molly would freak because the girl was a former student of his. The reason he said former was because Der had quit his job to make things work with this girl. Cor was sure that in due time Der would let Molly know all about it, but he was also sure that he probably wouldn’t say anything until he knew if the entire thing was going somewhere.
Cor groaned as he watched the clouds grow closer. He knew that he was going to have to get up now. Since it wasn’t sudden he would have no excuse for the equipment getting soaked. And he wasn’t going to explain to Der that his stuff was ruined because Cor didn’t want to let go of Molly. ‘Ya we should. Der would definitely kill me if his projector got ruined.’ Maybe this was fate’s way of saying that this wasn’t meant to be. He had to come back to Ocean City for other reasons and Molly wasn’t it. He tried not to dwell on this too much because the thought depressed him. ‘Hey now, nothing is amiss!’ He laughed back at this. There might not be something amiss with him, but apparently the universe thought there was something amiss with his friendship. Forever friendzoned. Screw you universe. ‘Nope just seven.’ As she pushed against him he could feel himself pushing back. He didn’t even notice the smile growing on his face. ‘I am average height thank you very much. You’re just tiny.’ Cor wrapped both arms around her and tackled her to the short distance to the ground, laughing the entire time. His mind was racing, telling him that he should kiss her, but he didn’t think Molly would appreciate that so he quickly stood, putting out his hand to help her up and clicking a button on his keys to pop his trunk. ‘Let’s get this stuff packed up.’

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
Molly made a jokingly frustrated sound. "You and Der are going to be the death of me, with all of your secret keeping." She grumbled, not entirely offended by it. It did get annoying sometimes, when those things were important, like Corbin coming back to Ocean City, but for the most part Molly didn't bother. She and Anna had their secrets back in the day, and maybe it had just been less obvious when she could tell Anna something in strict confidences. Now that she was missing that part, however, every time she was out of the loop - and it was a loop now, the three of them - it felt like a personal blow. It wasn't, but it felt that way sometimes. She shrugged nonchalantly and hummed a short sound. "I'll find a way. I will find out, Mister Castleman." She said, mildly sing-song. Probably not, Derrick was harder to crack than a bank vault, but she could damn well try. Besides, it might work, if she played it off right. Might. A very small might. "I mean there was obviously a reason he said that about you. Hmmm... What does he know?" She tapped her bottom lip exaggeratedly. "Grab me a pipe and a deerskin hat and I'll go Sherlock Holmes on this bitch." She laughed, amused, and fully intending on at least trying to get to the bottom of it. He spoke again and caught her attention, however, and Molly quirked a brow. "Oh really now?" She asked him, poking her elbow back gingerly to prod him in the ribs. "Is that so?" She found it a little difficult to believe, considering how well she had known him. But now, after seven years of pretty much no contact save an occasional phone call (occasional meaning hardly ever, of course), Molly realized that there probably was a lot of things she didn't know about him. The thought struck her on a melancholy chord, and she pursed her lips and tried to push it out of her mind.
She was relieved when he seemed to understand what she was trying to say, and reassured her that it wasn't silly. She still felt like it sort of was though, as much as she liked to believe in happy endings and such. Perhaps it was just a coping technique, holding onto something that seemed as far-fetched as fate and predetermined destiny and all of that nonsense. Perhaps it was only because she hadn't found her's yet. The thought of Der dating again made her happy. She wasn't the kind of person who'd get hung up over Anna and him being unfaithful to her memory or anything - she didn't understand people who thought that way. Sure, they had been in love, but Der was still here and he deserved to be happy. Molly liked to think that if there was some sort of afterlife or great beyond, Anna would understand. "Well, hopefully everything works out well." She said, glad that her friend wasn't caught up in what had happened. She found it a little harder to believe that Corbin didn't know anything about it though, knowing the way those two were. She didn't press anything though, because it wasn't really Corbin's place to tell her anything, anyway. And if Der hadn't said anything... Well, she'd just have to play the waiting game. Again. That was going to get old, quick, and it only solidified the idea that she really missed Anna. She'd get over it though, sooner or later. Preferably sooner. She hated being stuck as a third wheel in their group.
It was a shame that they'd have to get up and leave now, just when she was comfortable with things, just when she and Cor could get to joking around like they used to without the bizarrely awkward air. She sucked in a breath and gave off a light huff to the clouds, who were ruining her night by merely existing. She could feel the rumble of the thunder this time, and when Corbin suggested that Der would kill him if the projector got damaged, Molly nodded in agreement. "Yeah, let's go." She said, before his comments interrupted her and threw her into a fit of laughter. She had really missed him, how freely she could laugh with him, how goofy he was. Corbin was exactly what she needed ninety percent of the time. Ever since her dad had died, he'd been right there, offering her a laugh when she needed it or a hug or just someone to hang out with. There was a reaction for every action, a solution to ever problem, and he was it. She hadn't really realized lately just how much she had missed him when he was gone. And now that he was back, it seemed to hit her like a brick how much she had taken him for granted, and how much she had tried not to miss him when he was gone. "You are not average. You're like six foot-one-million. Okay. I'm almost average. I pretty much am female average." Five foot three wasn't too bad, was it? Not at all. Five-five was the average, last time Molly had checked. "I am not tiny." Well she wasn't really giant, either, and she wasn't exactly all that average. But she wasn't tiny, she refused to be tiny. As her action met resistance, she pushed harder into the ground with her feet, hoping to budge him, but he wasn't really going anywhere. Her legs slackened up and he tackled her forward, causing her to erupt into another raucous fit of laughter. He was laughing too, and it was one of those moments she couldn't really live without. There was a second though, a split second where her thudding heartbeat seemed to stop, where he hovered over her with his arms around her, and her breath caught. Just for that second. But just as quickly he was on his feet and offering her a hand to help her up. What was that? Disappointment? Molly struggled not to make a face at the reaction when she took his hand and hoisted herself up. "Alright, electronics first." She moved to disengage the wires from their various hook ups, shutting down the power sources so they could be transported back into the car. It wouldn't matter if the blanket got a little rained on, but the computer and the projector wouldn't like that much at all. The breeze had picked up a little more, to the point where the screen was beginning to move. "I've got this, you wanna get the screen? I don't want it to fall over and rip or anything." She mumbled, pulling the projector and the various cords into her arms. So much for date night, stupid rain.

The three would always be best friends. The song from the Hangover entered his mind and he mentally bobbed along. We’re the three best friends that anybody could have. We’re the three best friends that anybody could have. We’re the three best friends that anybody could have and we’ll never ever ever ever ever ever ever leave each other. He didn’t notice the small smile that grew on his lips as his mind sang this. He honestly couldn’t imagine life without the two of them. If he lost either of them again he didn’t think he could deal. As much as he hated Ocean City he highly doubted he would ever leave the two people who meant the most to him ever again. ‘You’d make a cute Sherlock Holmes, but I don’t think that is going to work Mols. Der is good at keeping his mouth shut when it comes to embarrassing things.’ Cor loved his best friend for this. He knew he could always count on him for this. Der knew his deepest darkest secrets and Cor knew his. Sure they kept a few things from Molly, but he knew when Anna was alive the two of them kept secrets from them. Molly just needed to find a new girl friend for herself.
Corbin could literally hold onto Molly forever. This moment in time just seemed perfect. He had never had a perfect moment with her and he was hoping that there were a lot more. Even with the rain it all seemed perfect and back to normal. He loved joking around with her and just laughing. He loved her laugh. It could make his smile even bigger and could easily brighten his day. How had he missed out on this for the past seven years? He didn’t ever want to be without her ever again. ‘You so are tiny Mols. Just accept it. But I like that you’re tiny.’ He felt like he could protect her better since she was tiny and he had grown. He didn’t know what he was protecting her from, but he knew that if he had to he could and that’s what mattered. Cor ignored the weird moment that they seemed to just have and nodded as she said electronics first. ‘Ya I’ll get the screen.’ Cor went over and packed up the projector, shoving it in the back of his car and shutting the trunk after everything was packed up. He made his way over to Molly and wrapped her in a hug. ‘Sorry that the chance of rain ended this.’ He looked down at her with a small smile and it seemed like on some weird que like in a movie a rain drop hit his face. Maybe the universe wanted them together. Maybe this was the universe’s way for trying to give them a movie moment. The urge to kiss her grew more as the rain became more. It was now or never. He leaned down and placed his lips lightly on hers. It was better than he had remembered. He felt electric sparks run through his body and even though he knew he should be cold because of the rain his whole body was warm and he didn’t ever want to pull away. This was his perfect moment. This was the moment that he would now always connect to the field. He would carry the memory with him forever and he was holding onto a small hope that it was the first of many. |

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
"Yeah, yeah, of course I do," She waved her hand nonchalantly to his comment. "How could I not love my two favorite goons?" She laughed and shook her head. The two of them were something else, had the kind of friendship that a lot of people wished they had. She loved them both too, and Molly honestly didn't know what she would have done without them in her life. Between Anna, Derrick and Corbin, Molly had found a place in Ocean City when things could have gone absolutely disastrously. She had been grateful for them all for that, for adopting her into their little group of friends. She pulled her lips to one side when Corbin mentioned Der. "You're right," She said after a moment, reluctant to let him foil her plan. In all reality she knew he was right, that Derrick would probably take any secrets they had right to his grave, but the curiosity behind the issue was just too strong. "So what other embarrassing things are there?" She looked up at him curiously, her eyebrows raised. "Hmmmm? Hmmmmm?" She prodded at him, very positive that she wasn't going to get an answer out of him. Or at least, not an answer she would be satisfied with, of course. She shook her head and laughed, then headed over to the electronics to pack up.
It was pretty quick work, getting everything together and loaded back into the trunk. It was sort of sad doing it though, thinking about Derrick and Corbin sitting out in the field earlier setting everything up, only to have it taken down prematurely by the threat of a thunderstorm. "Not tiny!" She threw over her shoulder as she finished packing in the computer. Molly liked storms, to be honest, she liked sitting at home with tea and a book and a cracked open window when there was a storm. Boo hated them, but he was a big baby and she didn't really mind if he hid under her bed for a few hours and whined periodically. For such a large dog, Boo was the epitome of a coward. She had finished packing up the electronics she had gathered and headed back for another preliminary scan for any cords or cables she might have missed or dropped on the way back to the car. Finding none, she placed her hands on her hips and spun around loftily to face Corbin. He was already walking toward her, however, and when he reached her she felt his arms wrap around her. "It's alright." Molly replied, wrapping her arms around him. She was so happy to be close to him that it surprised her, just a bit. It was normal to be happy that he was back, he was her friend and she hadn't seen him in seven very long years, but a little nagging thought on the edge of her consciousness wondered if perhaps she was a little happier than she ought to be about his return. "Rain happens, it's not something you can really stop." Almost as if directed, she felt a drop of rain hit the top of her head, and then one land on her shoulder, her arm. They were slow at first, but in the typical fashion of storms, the rain picked up pretty quickly. She inched in closer to Corbin, because maybe this newfound height would work nicely as an umbrella - but he was also very warm, and she was still very cold.
She was aware of him leaning down, and also aware of how her brain only had enough time to slip in one comment about a kiss in the rain being cliche - and then have another part of her proceed to beat down the critical part of herself - before she essentially lost all conscious function for a moment. From there on it was just emotions, what she should be feeling at war with what she actually felt. Corbin was like a little brother to her, an annoying little brother who wasn't actually related to her so he could pester her throughout his highschool career about going on a date with him. He was the boy she had convinced to smear peanut butter on his chest when he was high, and who had consequently smelled like a sandwich afterwards. She didn't really feel any of those things at that moment; the typical wall of platonic love that she usually had about him had completely crumbled at some indistinct moment during the night, and her body sort of operated without the direct command of her mind. Molly unwrapped her arms from around his waist and brought them up around the back of his neck, stretching up onto her tiptoes to meet him in the kiss. She didn't care about the rain anymore, or the fact that her body was trying to shiver because she was cold, or that her life had pretty much turned into a movie. All she could really focus on was that this was good, that she liked the feel of his lips against her own - as much as she probably shouldn't - and that she didn't care about her reservations. There was something about it that was just profoundly right, and that was all that mattered at that moment.

The last time that he had tried this she quickly drew back. This was the total opposite of seven years ago though. She actually leaning into the kiss and Cor could feel himself pulling her closer to him. He pulled her so she was flush against his body. He knew that they were both getting completely drenched. For some reason he didn’t care though. He just wanted to continue standing there with her in his arms. Her lips were just so warm. He regretted not kissing her before then. Of course he had been scared of her reaction. Even though he knew he was currently kissing her, he still was surprised by her reaction. He really expected her to pull away like she had the last time he had kissed her. He was glad that she hadn’t pulled away though. Maybe Der was right. Maybe they would be able to work. And maybe he came back because it was fate. The universe wanted the two of them together.
What surprised him even more was he was the one that pulled away first. He looked down at her and smile. ‘Molly you need to get in the car so you don’t get sick.’ Cor opened the door to the car waiting for her to get in and closing the car door behind her. He ran around the front of the car and hopped into the car quickly closing the door so the rain didn’t get inside. He turned and looked over at her with a goofy, boyish smile. ‘You look cute all sopping wet.’ Cor leaned over, gently cupping her face in his hand, rubbing her cheek softly with his thumb before leaning in for another kiss. He moved to tangles his fingers in her hair and pulling her closer to deepen the kiss. He knew he had to get going soon so his car didn’t get stuck in the mud, but for now he wanted to be lost in this moment. |

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light, The rain had pretty much invalidated her warm argument, because even pressed flush against him, there wasn't much in the way of warmth. The wind had picked up a little more, to the point of a solid annoyance, but Molly couldn't think about that if she tried. It wasn't the first time she had kissed Corbin, the first real kiss they'd ever had had been seven years ago, and it had been a disaster. Maybe, if she'd felt the things she did at this moment the last time it happened, life would have turned out differently. But the last time it happened she had just jerked away, denied his request to ask him to stay. She'd been young at the time, so ridiculously young and faced with a world that was turning upside down. That wasn't much of an excuse, but it was the way things had been. Now was different though. There was no panicking, that terrible feeling of finality wasn't present, and she welcomed the kiss. She could feel the chill of the rain in her hair, on her bare shoulders, and she could feel her clothes sticking uncomfortably to her and her hair tangling into limp wet waves, but none of those things mattered. She squeezed her eyes shut tight, the mild, oxygenless burning in her chest only satiated when he finally broke the kiss and she allowed herself to breathe in deeply. She'd kissed plenty of people in her lifetime, Corbin included, but this time everything just seemed different. Very, very different.
A smile bloomed across her face as he said she needed to get in the car. She really did - she wasn't dressed for rain, not in a tube top and sandals. She hadn't dressed for the outdoors at night, let alone a storm, and she could feel water in between her toes and hitting her bare shoulders. It hadn't meant much a moment ago, when they were kissing, but now that she wasn't distracted, she felt the onset of the cold. "Right, right. Car." She slipped into the seat after he opened the door, and when he closed it, she slipped her sandals off. They were slippery, and there wasn't use breaking her ankle trying to walk anywhere in them later on. "Cute?" She looked over at him disbelievingly, but laughed as she flicked the passenger side mirror down. "I look like a drowned poodle." She pushed it back up again and looked over at him, admiring his boyish smile. He'd always had a pretty nice smile, even when they were younger, although she'd never really looked at him like that. She had thought about it occasionally, after he had left for Texas, tried to see something in him that might have made her chosen differently. At the time she couldn't, but now? He had changed so much in those seven years, but he was the same in every way that really mattered. She looked at the man who had been the tagalong in her friendship with Derrick for so long, who had once been the boy she loved to torment, who had become her best friend, and realized that maybe he had grown up into something completely different than she had expected him to.
His hand touched her face and she smiled as he grazed his thumb over her cheek. As far as first dates went, this one was pretty good. There was none of that awkward getting to know each other stuff - they already knew everything important about one another, none of that awkward trying to build trust either. She trusted Corbin, she'd had since she'd been eighteen, so when he leaned in to kiss her again she didn't even question it. She let him, sat still and closed her eyes until she felt his lips against hers again, so much different than they'd been seven years ago. His hand drifted into her hair and when he deepened the kiss, she carefully turned herself in the passenger seat so she could face him. She leaned forward just slightly into the kiss, raising her arms up so she could lace her fingers into his own short dark hair. She pressed her lips more firmly against his, pleasantly caught up in the moment. Maybe all the teasing from Der had been warranted, and hadn't just been a thorn in her side. Maybe he'd seen something that she hadn't. Molly broke the kiss off after a long moment, and pressed her forehead against his as she breathed in. "Wow, okay." She said to herself, then leaned her face down to give him a quick kiss. Molly leaned back into her seat, still facing him. "What did Texas do to you?" She laughed easily, her legs curled up onto the seat. "I hate to be a spoil sport, but if you don't move this car soon, it's probably not going to move at all." She noted, wishing, just a bit, that the rain hadn't spoiled everything. She didn't really want the night to end, a feeling she hadn't had in a pretty long time. But she was pretty sure if they were there much longer, the car would get stuck and they'd both end up catching colds. She brought her knees up against her chest in the seat and wrapped her arms around them, because in leaning back into her seat, they suddenly felt a little empty. It was a tad disconcerting, how quickly things had changed and how easily she was accepting them, but she did her best to ignore that feeling, because she didn't want it to spoil what was going on now.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] STILL HAVEN'T MET YOU YET The Words: 802 The Outfit: clicky The Notes muse is sooo back!!! Cor couldn’t help but think how cute she was. She seemed all flustered when he said they needed to get in the car. He loved that though. It had to be a good sign, right? Meant she was as lost in the kiss as he had been. That was good. Maybe through the seven years of him not being there she realized how much she cared about Cor. That would be good. He sure hoped that was it. He hoped with every fiber of his being that that was it. He just wanted to be with her. He had never wanted nothing more in his life. Before he had left he had even wanted it more than getting out of Ocean City. That was how much the girl meant to him. Maybe he had to leave seven years ago. Maybe the entire thing was fate. Even the whole thing with Jenifer. Molly had been there for him through the entire thing even though she couldn’t be in Texas. Maybe they needed that seven years so Molly could figure out that she loved him more than just a little brother or a best friend. And he had to come back because she was the only person in the world for him. He could whore around with whoever or date someone else, but no one would ever make him as happy as Molly did. And he would always compare whoever he was with to Molly, putting an obvious strain on any relationship he was in that wasn’t with Molly. ‘Well a very cute drowned poodle.’ Cor laughed at this because the girl did look a bit like a sad, wet puppy, but he found it adorable. It just added to the reasons why he loved her so much. She looked stunning even when she was sopping wet from an attack thunderstorm.
He smiled at her as she pulled away. Man he was in deep and she didn’t even know it. He was well aware that he was tightly wound around her pinky finger whether he liked it or not. He couldn’t help but laugh as she asked what Texas had done to him. He just smiled and leaned back in the back seat. ‘I’ve always been like this. Just chose not to act on it,’ he said coming back from the back seat holding a jacket. He handed it to her with a smile, leaning over and kissing her cheek before facing forward and putting on his seat belt. ‘You looked cold.’ To be honest, he was cold too, but he knew soon he would be home and could put on dry clothes. Plus he would rather Molly be warm than him. ‘Ya, ya I know.’ He started grabbing for his keys and before he knew it he was laughing a little. ‘Remember when we were all out here and we had taken Anna’s car and it started raining like this?’ Corbin tried to hold in his laughs to finish the memory although he figured Molly knew what he was talking about. ‘She revved the engine so much that her car sank into the mud and we all had to end up sleeping in the car.’ Corbin stopped the memory there, not wanting to finish how they forced him into the trunk. Sure Anna had one of those cars that the seats folded down, but he was still in the trunk. Cor stuck the keys into the ignition, letting the engine purr to life. Then carefully, oh so carefully he pressed on the gas, happy that his car moved forward.
Honestly Corbin didn’t want the night to end, but he also didn’t want this to end like some one night stand trying to get in your pants date. He wanted more than anything to just take her home and cuddle up, nothing more than that, but he figured she would want to go home and get changed. Not that he blamed her. She was soaked to the bone. Although the thought of her in his clothing brought a smile to his face. He might as well ask if she wanted to come back with him, right? ‘So Miss Haralson you have two options ahead of you.’ He took in a deep breath before presenting them to her. ‘Option A is I take you home, the date is over, and you go on your merry way. Option B though is we go back to my place, the date isn’t over, I give you clothes to wear, we drink hot chocolate, and cuddle to keep warm. Which shall it be?’ Option B. Option B. Just say option B! That’s the only thought that was racing through his mind. He didn’t want the night to be over and even more he wanted her in his arms again. |

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
There was something profoundly absurd about her sitting in her best friend's car, the best friend that she hadn't properly seen in seven years, and letting him kiss her. Even more absurd, kissing him back. Molly would have never imagined herself anywhere near here at any point in her life. Two days ago you could have told her and she would have laughed. But now she was here and, perhaps the most absurd part of the entire scenario, was that she found she didn't mind it at all. In fact, despite all the vehement denial, she had come to find herself completely opposite of what she had held to be true on the situation. Der had always teased her about Corbin, that one day she'd end up with the long haired stoner kid, and she would be forced to hit him or glare at him or completely ignore him. She had just checked it off to being normal though - there were two guys in their group, two girls, and half of them were already pretty much a thing. So she had just come to expect it from Der and do her best to ignore it. Never in a million years had Molly suspected that he would be right. And boy was he right. The best part was that she didn't even rethink it, that there wasn't a single moment where she thought that maybe it wasn't what she wanted, not a single moment that she doubted any of it. She wasn't entirely surprised, though. Maybe it had been the absence, which was rumored to make the heart grow fonder after all, that had made her realize just how much he meant to her. And now that she had him back, Molly didn't particularly want to let him go. She laughed when he said that she looked like a cute drowned poodle. If it had been anyone else but him, she might have smacked them. "Have you ever seen a drowned poodle? Or even a wet one?" Molly wasn't really a poodle fan to begin with, so maybe she was a little biased.
Molly was a little disconcerted about how kissing him left her a little flustered though. Molly had never been a head over heels kind of girl; of all the guys she had ever dated or made out with under bleachers (she wasn't just popular for doing flips at football games, after all), she had never really gotten flustered. It was a strange sensation, to feel a little light headed coming out of a kiss. She liked it though, it was a little bit like champagne bubbling in her mind. She leaned back and worked on collecting herself and making her brain function properly, a task it had happily abandoned in the last ten minutes. "God, why not?" She couldn't imagine Corbin circa seven years ago doing something like this. He leaned back into the backseat and emerged with a jacket, which he handed to her. She took it gratefully and shrugged it on. It didn't really help a ton, considering she was already pretty soaked to the bone, but the sentiment was nice and it did help a little. He leaned over and kissed her cheek and Molly smiled, glad that it was a simple thing, unforced and easy. She'd been on her fair share of awkward dates, where everything was clumsy, and she was glad this wasn't like those times. "Thanks." She said, not really just for the jacket, but for everything. Molly fastened her seatbelt and huddled up in the seat, wishing that she was warmer than she was currently. The second he brought up Anna's car, she knew what he was talking about and began laughing. It had been a night sort of like this one, where they'd been taken by surprise with a storm. Anna hadn't been super worried about it, but when it came time to leave, she got the car stuck in the mud and the had to pull the seats down to sleep. It had been super uncomfortable with just the three of them, and of course it had been her idea to jam Corbin in the trunk. Which they all agreed with. She'd been irrationally cruel to him, simply for her own amusement, and sometimes she had no idea why he had stuck by her and stayed her friend. "Yeah I almost died." She said. "Der moved at one point and I thought i was going to suffocate." Her laughter subsided slowly. "I had the worst headache the next morning, but it was pretty funny, wasn't it?" There were all sorts of miscellaneous stories that this field had, happy and sad and frustrating and the kind where you woke up with kinks in your neck from sleeping in the back seat of a car, but they were all worth it, in the end. Even more worth it was having someone to share them with.
The inevitable was about to happen; he would end up taking her home, she'd say goodbye, sleep on it, and then everything would be uncertain from that point on. That was how things worked, even if they went well. Even under the best circumstances, things were always colored differently in the light of the morning. She wondered absently what she'd say to Der if he ever asked her anything, and realized she wasn't entirely sure. He spoke up and she resisted the urge to roll her eyes, because two options was somewhat predictable and he was Corbin after all. A little part of her nagged and told her she probably should have expected something like this, because Corbin wasn't exactly infamous for his chivalry. She leaned against the door slightly and looked at him, doing her best to keep the incredulous look from her face. Though the options he presented weren't exactly what she had expected. The taking her home one she had, that was standard, and she was pretty soaked and wanted to get into some dry clothes. But the second one, unless it was some clever euphemism for something else, was completely unexpected. She laughed, suddenly and unexpectedly, a sound that just sort of happened. Molly leaned her head back and tried to contain herself, but it just didn't happen that way. She didn't want the date to end honestly, she liked it, she liked being near him - she'd missed it, a lot more than she had realized, in the years that he was gone. So much that maybe it had changed something in her. Seven years ago, she would have asked him to take her home. But she hadn't legitimately cuddled with anyone in a while, at least not anyone she genuinely wanted to, and hot chocolate sounded like heaven. "Well, as entertaining as going home and wrestling Boo outside with the thunder sounds, I think I may actually have to go with Option B." She smiled a little at him, a little more fond of the idea than she'd like to let on. But Molly genuinely liked the feeling of his arms around her, she always had - even when there was nothing more behind it than friendship - and although she wouldn't admit it to herself willingly, in his arms was the only place she really wanted to be at the moment.

He figured tonight he would take Molly out and it would be like old times. It would turn into being more of hanging out like old times than a date. But that wasn’t what happened. No it was so much more than old times. In fact in Corbin’s opinion it was a lot better than old times. In old times when he leaned over to kiss her she would have jerked away. The reaction that he received was of the opposite sort. The entire thing made him warm inside, but extremely nervous. For the first time in eleven years the girl he we madly in love him was at least semi reciprocating the feelings. Another thing that Corbin never thought would happen. He figured he would go through life always loving her, but ending up with someone else. He figured Molly would get married to a doctor or a lawyer, have children, and move out of Ocean City. He never thought that he would ever even be in the running for the guy that was in that future with her. But now, he actually could see himself next to her in years to come. Not like he was going to go around telling her that. No, that wasn’t like him at all. Plus they weren’t even dating so telling her that he wanted to spend forever with her would be a little more than weird. ‘No, but I’m sure they are funny looking. But you’re not funny looking. You’re cute. I swear.’ Smooth move Corbin. Why in the world did she get him so tongue tied? Ok he knew the answer to that one, but he didn’t want to continue on that train of thought because that was when he got even more tongue tied.
Corbin shrugged to her question. He knew why. It had to do with two people. Two people who were older than him. Mainly one person actually. He was never compared much to his eldest sister, but to Josh he was. Josh and Ashley were golden children and then came along the third child in the Castleman family. He was expected to be just as smart and athletic as both of these two, and he was. He could be more charming that Josh and even though he always told his friends he was never good at school he got better grades than Josh too. He hated the comparison though and so he chose not to be motivated. He went down the path of unmotivation and bottom of the totem pole dwelling all to avoid being compared to his brother. Although he was still compared to him, but at least it wasn’t telling him he had to be faster at this or better at this because he had to continue Josh’s legacy. It was more of a why can’t you be like your brother instead. Corbin smiled at her thanks as she put the jacket on. ‘You’re most welcome Miss Haralson.’ His laughing got harder as she continued down the same memory, glad that he was able to walk down good memory lane with her. That was the perks of being friends with someone for eleven years. You had a million memories and you could just say one word and both end up laughing for hours. ‘Ya well you deserved it! Shoving me in the trunk and all.’ Cor had taken a lot of abuse in high school, mostly from Molly and Der, but it hadn’t bugged him. He was the youngest so he expected it. At least he knew Anna was always there to try and calm them down. Not like she ever did, but she tried. It was the thought that counted.
Corbin tried extremely hard not to just beam when she answered option b. He was glad that they were on the same page. This was a good thing. Without thinking and after taking a deep breath, he reached over and took her hand, keeping his other one on the wheel. He could definitely get used to this. ‘My place it is then.’
When they arrived at his place it was still pouring rain and it was times like this that Corbin was glad car ports were invented. He got out of the car, going around and opening the door for Molly. He lead her inside and couldn’t help but think that all he wanted with her was cuddling. Sure they were at his place and he was pretty sure they were in for the night, but Molly was different than everyone. She was special. He couldn’t even really put into words how much she meant to him. Still holding her hand, he lead her back to his room with the only intentions of getting her dry clothing. He opened his dresser and pulled out one of his A&M t-shirts handing it to her. ‘You’re small enough that this will be a dress on you.’ He smiled at that knowing she was going to look adorable in it. As he stood there though he couldn’t help but asking himself over and over again if this was reality. If it was a dream though he never wanted to wake up. |

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
In retrospect, Molly probably should have been nicer to Corbin in high school. But Der always seemed to hop on the wagon as soon as she did, which made backing down from whatever threat she had come up with. And yet when her dad died, and shit went to hell and Der and Anna were in college, it was Corbin who was always right there by her side without a single complaint. Even now, he still got all tongue-tied and ran away on tangents with her, the same old Corbin. She really had missed him though in those seven years he was gone, and it took him coming back for her to realize that. And now that she had, and they were here sitting in his car in the field, and it was pouring outside and he had kissed her and she had kissed him back, she was glad that all of this had happened. Even if it had taken seven years for her to realize that maybe he meant a lot more to her than the annoying little brother, in fact, he meant so much more than that. He was her best friend and, apparently, something more than that too. She smiled at his laughter, it made her happy, to be able to hear him laugh again. Especially such uncensored, genuine laughter. "Well at least you got your own private room!" She retorted, giggling. It had been mean of her, but Der always seemed to back her up on everything. "I almost got crushed by Der's massive girth!" She burst out into a new fit of laughter at the memory. By the time the three of them had woken up, they were all so ridiculously tangled and annoyed that now the memory had become hilarious, even when at the time it was not.
Corbin reached over the center console and took her hand, and Molly let her fingers intertwine with his. She smiled a little as she looked out the window as he drove, letting herself fall into thoughts about how effortless all this was, when she had been nothing but terrified about how strained or forced the date might be with prior circumstances. It was pleasantly surprising, how natural this all seemed, driving with him and holding his hand. When they arrived, he opened her door and took her hand again, leading her up to his place and then, back to what she presumed was his bedroom. That didn't particularly surprise her much, since it was Corbin, but she decided she'd keep him on his word and waited patiently as he rummaged around through his clothes. He pulled out a brown shirt and she laughed, taking it from him. "Niiiice." The woman held the shirt up to her front and, sure enough, it was long enough to nearly be a dress on her. It was wider than she was too, but most things were. She was short and slender and, unfortunately, just tiny. "I'm borrowing a towel, by the way." She called over her shoulder as she ventured forth for a restroom, which she found without too much difficulty. Molly opened up a hall closet, snagged herself a towel and went into the bathroom. Shutting the door behind her, she focused on changing. Her shirt wasn't too difficult to get rid of, but wet skinny jeans were almost impossible to get off. She changed relatively quickly, drying herself off in the middle and wringing the rainwater out of her hair as best she could.
Molly folded the towel up over the side of the bathtub because it was almost entirely soaked at that point and grabbed her clothes, which were in an equally sorry state. "Please tell me you actually own a dryer." She called through the house, giggling a little at the thought. It honestly wouldn't have surprised her in the least, but upon searching, she found the correct place to dry them. She wandered out and found him in the kitchen. Hot cocoa seemed like such a fantastic idea right now, curled up on a rainy night with someone special. And he was someone special to her, wasn't he? She padded barefoot into the kitchen, suddenly a little self-conscious. Molly had never been someone who really worried about her body, having always been athletic, she'd always been slim and strong. But now, plodding along into his kitchen in a shirt - his shirt, more importantly - that came down just past the tops of her thighs and left her legs bare, she felt that minor twinge of self-consciousness. She'd worn shorts before in front of him, but she'd thought twice about it. Now, though? It was just like a scene from a movie, where the girl comes out in the guy's overlarge shirt. Maybe Der had been completely right. Her life was a movie. It really had turned into one. She walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face between his shoulder blades. Molly wouldn't readily admit it, but she was rather fond of him being so tall now, and it certainly didn't hurt his case that he smelled nice, either. "I'm really glad you came back, Corbin." She said quietly, squeezing him a little. It really was pretty amazing, how one little thing could change everything; how one little kiss could show her how she never want to let him go.
