I've been in the States all my life. I was born in Los Angeles, California. My mother's name is Anayely Carmela Diez Gonzales. She never married.
When I was born, my mother and I had to live in a small apartment that was falling apart on the wrong side of the tracks. She was away at work most of the time. She worked on this big estate as a maid, cleaning up after the rich snooty family that lived there. When I was a kid, I didn't know the man I called my father was also the man that employed my mother. I wouldn't find that out until very recently. My father was presented to me very rarely, as he was a busy man that had a lot of things to do. He helped my mother gain citizenship, and he always sent me cards on my birthdays. Most of the times, he would give my mother money to help her pay her bills. She hated when he did that, though. My mother is a prideful woman. I grew up about as normal as any kid could; we moved out of our crap apartment and into a better one (thanks to my father.)
My mother, however, spent her time when she wasn't working looking for love in all the wrong places. She was prideful, but she was weak, and she didn't know how to tell people no. All her boyfriends were abusive or irresponsible, and my mother got pregnant several times after me. She was pregnant a total of 6 more times, thanks to the men she spent her time with. She aborted three of the pregnancies, however, and left me with three little siblings: Daniela, Luisa and Pepito. Pepito is the youngest. As my mother was often working strange hours and keeping company with stranger men, I basically raised my little sisters and brother. I got a job as early as possible to help provide for my family, as my father's help became less and less significant as I grew older. In fact, before I entered high school, he completely cut off contact with me. I haven't heard from him since. During the summer before my freshman year, I was contacted by my school guidance counselor, who told me about an opportunity to attend Manchester Prep on scholarship. My mother agreed that it wasn't something I could let pass me by. However, before I left, she told me the truth about my father, and about my half-sister, who currently resided in Ocean City.
I transferred to Manchester, and now live with my mother's older brother who made his life here. I left my family in SoCal, but hope to return to them after graduating. I still haven't made any attempt to contact my sister, and I don't know if I ever will. I fit easily into the Cheerleader clique, despite my scholarship status, as I am as good as the next cheerleader. I have to keep a certain GPA to stay here, and am always working hard at that. I'm just trying to make something for myself.
