Oh she was terrified. In fact, she'd never been so nervous.
So nervous in fact she was sure she could blow chunks right there. Stood in front of her mirror in her bedroom, she went back and forth on what to wear. She'd made a conscious effort that evening to be pretty. Her normally curly hair had been straightened and deep conditioned, her long blonde locks now shiny and smooth to the touch, hanging just below her slender shoulders and to add a touch of personality, she slid a little white stain bow hair slip in for a little flair.
She'd never met a boyfriend's parents before. Was Logeun her boyfriend? She'd spent hours in her bedroom with the door locked, going through all of her clothes to find something appropriate. Kate wanted to make the best first impression but she didn't want to lie about who she was. She didn't want to wear something frumpy when she was a smart, vibrant young lady. She should have gone shopping. She'd also spent ages agonising over her make up. As a girl who very rarely wore any, she finally decided on one coat of mascara, a little powder to disguise her freckles and a coat of deep red lipstick for a pop of colour.
Kate wasn't sure if she was happy or mad at her mother. After she'd gotten home from the beach date with Logeun, she's made the mistake of telling her that she and Logeun's father worked at the same ward in the hospital. Of course, Elsie had flipped into overdrive and insisted they all meet up and before Kate could stop her, she learned that she'd bumped into Dr. Copperman at work, told him that his son and her daughter had gone on a date and insisted that he and his wife come to dinner and bring Logeun, too. Hence her current predicament.
The agreed restaurant was a cute little bistro on the beach front and Kate had chosen it herself for a number of reasons; it was quiet, it was cosy, it was smart enough to be comfortable and they made the best Caesar salad she'd ever tasted. They were meeting at eight and it was a little after half past seven when her mum's voice drifted up the stairs.
"Katie!" she called, causing Kate to jump. "C'mon, honey, we need to start going!" Swallowing, her big green eyes looked at her reflection, quickly fastening her necklace around her neck, sliding her earrings into her lobes, grabbing her bag and jogging downstairs. The floaty chiffon material of her peach coloured dress swished as she walked, pausing to grab her white blazer and pull it over her shoulders. "You look nice, love," her dad said with a smile as he pulled her in for a cuddle before letting her go and her family piled into the family car.
The drive was short and before she knew it, the car pulled into the parking lot and she got out, closing the door behind her and taking a deep breath. Offering a smile to the woman waiting by the door, the waitress showed them to a large table that seated six, near the window that overlooked the beach. Then the nerves set in. "Guys," Kate said, having her parents look up expectantly at her with a smile. "Just…you know, be nice, yeah?" She asked softly, hinting that she would prefer it they just cooled their jets. They weren't stupid. Her mum clearly knew there was something going on between her daughter and Logeun but her dad was a little slow on the uptake. Kate had overheard them talking in the kitchen. Her mum had told him that she'd been on a date with a boy and that she liked him a lot, her dad had gotten all uptight about it but she'd managed to calm him down a little.
Her mum was up to something. Her mum had insisted that the dinner was simply because it was a small world and that she had Dr. Copperman were work colleagues and that this wasn't some sort of cunning ruse to meet Kate's boyfriend. Aha. Yeah. Right. Kate wasn't dim.
"I'm always nice," her dad replied with a smile, making eyes at his wife across the table and she laughed. With a groan, Kate shrugged off her blazer, resting it across the back of her chair as she anxiously rubbed her palms together. Had Logeun told his parents about her, or not? Would they like her? Would they think she was good enough for their son? Oh shit. The waitress suddenly appeared with a jug of water and a basket of bread for the table.
"Honey, relax," the warm voice of her mother said as she squeezed her shoulder. "They're going to adore you, just like we do. Don't we Andy?" Elsie asked, flicking her eyes to her husband who merely smiled. "Of course we do and we're excited to meet this new friend of yours." "Traitor!" Kate suddenly gasped, pointing a finger at her mother who simply chuckled, finding Kate's behaviour hysterically funny and it made her husband laugh too, leaving their daughter wearing a scowl. "If you carry on like this, he won't be my friend for much longer." logeun was a nervous wreak, he would have to be, he needed to be. ever since that beach 'date' and the kiss he had flipped head over heels for her. but his parents didn't know, all they knew was that he was seeing a girl, and that the girls mother invited them out to dinner. his father had gotten all giddy about the fact that the world was so small, and logeun had to remind him of the dimensions of the actual earth, which was met with a glare and a witty joke about him taking it easy. his mother of course, was like any other mother, all happy and excited that his little son has a date now and is all grown up. he of course was embarrassed and held it against his mom that she was flattering him. his father was too, both when it came to clothes. he buttoned up his plaid dress shirt and slipped on some generic black khaki pants. which he topped of with a family heirloom watch, a rolex of course. and some armani dress shoes. needless to say, he looked sharp. his mother complimented him and his father gave him a small smile. and of course, leave it to the copperman's to be late. well, they weren't late late. just on schedule to be... about five minutes late. and they rushed to the car, his family all giddy with excitement as he was shaking in nervousness. surely kate's parents would think of him as a joke, just some wimp of a guy with the brains. after all usually girls ended up with douches and the nice guys all alone in the world. oh well maybe he was lucky. maybe... and as they entered this little escape from life, on the beach and overlooking the waves, it could only bring back the memory of him and kates last 'meeting'. but he snapped back into reality as the waiter walked them to their table. and he caught a glimpse of kate, oh my god. she looked absolutely stunning. and by this time, his father was being the man of the family and introduced us to his co-worker, or kates mom. and once that got all settled he could only smile and sit down, which he of course reserved a seat next to kate and he could only whisper out to her as the family had their chitchat "hey kate." he paused to make sure nobody was looking at him cowering in fear "you look stunning..." he breathed as he looked at her again quickly, but snapped back as the table grew silent as they went to their menus. he then smiled as his father started to strike a conversation, leave it to him to do it, he was a nice ice breaker, no wonder he found his wife at a club, and his lips curled at the thought, and once he finished his mental laugh he glanced to kate quickly, almost catching his mothers eyes, so he focused on food, he thought and just decided to play safe and go for the lobster tail with a salad on the side. words; 658 music; day n night notes; <33 |

Kate's long legs crossed under the table at the knee, nervously jiggling her foot as she chewed on her lip, her eyes glued to the door to the restaurant for any sign. Her stomach was in knots, uncomfortable knots and she didn't really feel that hungry. Swallowing, she let her parents chat amongst themselves, zoning in and out of the conversation. Her mum had some funny story about a patient. Her dad was talking about going somewhere that weekend. She loved her parents but she just didn't care.
Fidgeting in her seat, her eyes went from the breaking waves to the door and back again when she caught sight of a tall boy. And her heart did a somersault in her chest. At first, she didn't acknowledge his parents, her green eyes were honed directly on him. Unable to help herself, she admired his shirt and the way it fit him perfectly; it must have been expensive. Swiftly, she cracked a grin.
Totally out of it and totally engrossed in Logeun, it was rude how she hadn't listened. "Dr. Copperman! Thank you so much for coming, it's lovely to see you. This is my husband, Andy," Kate's mum said as she stood and her dad did the same. Andy extended a hand out towards Logeun's dad and did the same to his mother. "Hello Doctor," Andy replied, grasping the other man's hand tightly and smiled, the trademark Harrison left cheek dimple shining through. Kate's mum went around the table and to Logeun's mum, pulling her into a hug and kissing the other woman's cheek which only caused Kate to pull a face.
Remembering her manners, Kate stood up straight and offered her prettiest little smile. "Hi Dr. Copperman," the tall blonde replied, her smile lighting up her pretty face as she leant across the table to offer his dad her hand to shake. "Mrs. Copperman. Thank you so much for coming." Feeling incredibly awkward, she sat down and was so thankful Logeun was so close to her. "Hi," she replied softly as she offered him a lopsided grin. Swiftly, she turned a shade of pink as he complimented her. "Thank you," she replied afterwards. She worked hard tonight and she deserved to be complimented so she took it with a smile, the tips of her ears turning red. "You look great," she said gently, really meaning it. He always looked good but he looked so…dapper in his shirt, shiny shoes and equally shiny watch.
Automatically, she turned her body a little, pointing her knees in his direction. It was probably painfully obvious that she liked him, her body language was positively screaming it. She was thankful that Logeun's dad had taken the initiative to start a conversation and that her own dad was laughing. "I heard you and Elsie worked together," Kate's dad's voice boomed, causing her mother to laugh. It was rude that Kate wasn't looking over and joining in but she couldn't drag her eyes away from her date.
The conversation was jovial, focusing on the concept of it being such a small world. As the parents chatted, Kate's mum's eyes drifted over towards her daughter and she arched an eyebrow. A soft smile curved her lips as she leant into her husband, whispering "She likes Logeun, look at her. No wonder she's wearing her best dress."
Kate didn't hear it but she was still pink and she followed Logeun by picking up a menu, her eyes scanning the printed words but not really taking anything in. "How long have you kids known each other?" Andy said, noticing his daughter had gone quiet. Snapping to attention and dropping her menu like she'd been doing something inappropriate, she looked over to the table of expectant parents. "Um," she said intelligently, looking at Logeun with a small smile with a hidden meaning. "A few years? We have a couple of classes together but we've been hanging out a little more recently," she concluded. The simple statement she said caused her mum to snigger suddenly before she turned it into a hackling cough. Oh shit. She was so busted. Kate narrowed her eyes at her mother before flicking them back over to Logeun's mum swiftly. "You're looking really lovely tonight, Mrs. Copperman." .
logeun's father enjoyed the welcoming, he felt like royalty, but he knew his manners and did not show it. he would only smile and take the strong hand that was kate's father and shook it with ease. and of course, his wife did her greetings and also embraced kate's mother with a few friendly kisses. it was like watching a family reunion, it was so awkward and weird, atleast for logeun, he didn't know if kate was enjoying it, by the look of her face she looked like she did.
but she turned pink as he said his greeting, which was cute and could only smile in response. and as he did she told him much the same thing. and with that his smile grew wider, and he was about to say something, but the conversations began and he focused on his menu.
thats when the missiles began to launch. because from the corner of his eye, as he set his menu down, kate's mother did what looked like scheming, and all his parents were doing were reading the menu while his dad just looked around, him and logeun usually choose their foods pretty quickly.
when her mother spoke he was about to take the initiative and reply back, but kate did the job for him, so he could only smile and nod as the conversation continued.
but his mother was given a compliment out of the blue, which was fine, as long as it wasnt an insult... "oh thank you darling. but dont flatter me, your the one who looks absolutely stunning!" by then logeuns father just gave up on trying to keep up with his fancy talk and just looked to kates father, nodding in response to the fathers question, but he grew bored quickly and looked to a newby tv to see a game on "you follow sports andy?" he said in his casual tone, formalities were over.
but logeun just sighed and tapped his foot nearest to kate, not really indicating anything but she could take it as a sign to play footsies, her call. and if not they could always sneak their hands under the table and grasp them for the next hour or so.
but he noticed kate's look, he guessed it was the nervousness, so they were alike. which was fine, they could comfort one another. but he looked to her quickly as the waiter began to take the orders, smiling and just nodding, trying to reassure her.

Gosh, she hoped so. After all, it would be nice if she won their approval but typical Kate, even if she didn't get it, she wasn't going to stop seeing Logeun. She felt so strongly about him and seeing him all dressed up kind of made her forget what day it was. It was pathetic, really. Still pink from his unexpected compliment, her big green eyes scanned the menu. She still felt unsettled but the warmth from Logeun was helping just a little bit but she still wasn't quite herself.
"Oh," she said suddenly, going as far to blush even harder as she offered his mum a shy smile. "That's so sweet of you, thank you," she said sounding a little awkward. It was true, she'd worked bloody hard to look good tonight. She'd agonised over everything; her clothes, her hair, her make up and even her underwear which was stupid because Logeun wasn't going to see that tonight. It was far too soon. Kate's freckles stood out even more as she blushed furiously and she wished she could just chill the eff out.
Kate's dad looked visibly relieved when Logeun's dad brought up a familiar subject. He didn't like stuffy dinners, he was very much a beer and chips kinda guy. During the course of the evening so far, he was shooting glances at the TV and hoping his wife hadn't seen him. "Sure do," |
he said with a grin that was so much like Kate's. "I'm a big fan of soccer. Kate's older brother used to play and now my grandson does." For a panic-stricken second, Kate thought his parents might have thought she had a kid but she did not! No no no! Her brother did, not her. Oh God. It felt nice to have him so close. She couldn't help but smile as she felt his foot touch hers and automatically, she leant a little closer to that her leg touched his, just to be close. She wasn't ashamed but she didn't want her parents to keep watching her actions. Very slowly, she slipped her foot out of her peach coloured high heel and very gently touched the back of his calf. It was probably too flirty and she soon realised so she dropped her foot but slid her palm across the booth, her fingers a few inches away from his hand, letting him decide to take it. Still smiling, she had her eyes focused on the menu. Her mother ordered spaghetti carbonara, her dad ordered a cheeseburger. Looking up at the waiter, Kate smiled. "Hi," she said. "Could I get a Caesar salad, please?" She asked politely. "And a pink lemonade," she concluded. In all honestly, she wanted a beer but she wasn't twenty-one and she was trying to be polite. Logeun's smile did a little to calm her down and she forced herself to exhale, her shoulders slumping as she tried to loosen her tense muscles. Their dads were engaged in a sports conversation with her dad leading; he was passionate about soccer and he followed the British and European premierships. "Kate plays tennis," Andy said with a proud smile in his daughter's direction, causing her to smile back softly. He was behaving at least so that was a plus. If Logeun's dad wanted to ask her some questions about that then she'd be more than happy to answer them. Elsie had engaged his mother in a conversation about superficial things like the weather and other non-important subjects. "Logeun is very handsome," Kate's mum said to his mum, keeping her voice low so Kate didn't hear her. "And so polite! He's a credit to you both." Kate leant into Logeun a little but not obviously in the pretence that she was going to flick a bit of lint off of his shoulder. "I'm freaking out," she admitted in a whisper, offering a shy little smile. "I've never met anyone's parents like this before. Am I doing it right?" .
his mother could only smile as she ordered her usual salad and a glass of wine, she wasnt much of a big eater, she left that to her husband and logeun to wolf down whatever she set on the table, and her being a stay at home mom now, she's learned how to cook fairly well. she took pride in setting down the meatloaf, and then minutes later her boys were begging for more, she felt as if she was in power, even if the cliche family was the father was. but it peaked her interest at the fact that logeun's love also liked salad, how interesting.
like two caveman to some food, his father laughed softly at the tone from her father, relieved. and once he mentioned soccer his father smiled "soccer huh, i heard manchester's got quite the team this year." chuckling slightly as the waiter came to him and he ordered a steak, he was partly food addict and he knew that this place had quite the meats.
logeun followed in suit, smiling as his dad went off about soccer, and when the waiter came to him all he ordered his lobster tail, and the waiter was off and away. thats when it was brought to the table that kate played tennis, sure logeun did to, but it wasn't much of thing for him, he knew how to play, just not maybe as well as kate might be able to, but a spark flew in his head, future date for sure then.
but footsies under the table was not the best of ideas, and she read his mind as she backed away, or atleast he thought she read it. but he noticed the proximity of her hand, hidden from view from her parents.
but he snapped back into reality as his name was mentioned, he had good ears, he heard the comment, but he pretended not to hear it, instead his mother spoke for him "i know right?" she was acting like a highschool girl, and mothers arent allowed to "he's just so perfect, and kate, shes just lovely!" she could help but smile out, still keeping the whisper. but she quickly moved to a different subject, its not polite to talk about people in front of them.
logeun could only smile as kate leaned in, he pretended to have lost his napkin, which of course he slide it down inbetween his and her chair, as he leaned over to get it he smiled out for the parents "excuse me." but when he was picking it up he whispered "dont be, your doing fine." he finished as he 'placed' his napkin on his lap, when in reality he just let it sit on the floor, he wasn't that messy of an eater.
but he turned his attention back to her hidden hand, and in which, he slipped his hand inside of it and gave it a quick squeeze of reassurance, she really was doing fine, his parents loved her. as long as that tattoo remain out of the picture.

Kate's dad's jovial voice boomed as he laughed with a shake of his head. "Unstoppable if you ask me. The manager I can't stand but that accent, I can't even understand him. Do you like basketball?" Andy asked. "There's a game on next weekend and if you're not busy, you're more than welcome to come along." Tennis was a comfortable topic, a common ground. The rules were easy to pick up and it was exciting to watch. "You know, you should really try out for the team, honey," Kate's mum said as she looked down the table, causing her daughter to blink. She'd been on at her for months about that but she wasn't really a sporty kind of girl. She didn't like competing, to crush someone else's dream. She really much preferred to be by herself, she couldn't deal with being responsible as a team captain. Rather than voice that, she simply smiled meekly. "I'm not sure there are any openings," she lied easily with a shrug of her shoulders. Kate would fantastic at tennis, she could be the best player if she really wanted to. "But I'm playing a friendly match on Sunday," she said, her eyes sparkling. "At the country club. One of the girl's twisted her ankle and couldn't play." Kate said, her eyes straying over to Logeun. "Would you want to come and watch?" The blonde asked, holding her breath and hoping he'd want to. Having him in the stands would settle her. She hoped he'd see yes. Battering other girl's at tennis was her party piece. Any excuse to see him again. Looking over at Logeun's parents, she smiled, trying to make an effort. "You're both welcome to watch if you want to. It'd be nice to see some friendly faces." As Kate heard his mum say he was perfect, she folded her lips together as she tried to restrain a laugh but found herself placing a hand over her mouth. Oh gosh, his mother was adorable! And she clearly adored him. "You are such a mama's boy," she whispered with a grin as she leant into Logeun a little more, clearly amused. Her heart was starting to beat faster and faster as he ducked under the table, relieved to see his face again. Her scarlet lips formed a soft smile as he reassured her. This was so utterly nerve-wracking, she wasn't sure she could actually stand it. His parents seemed nice; his dad down to Earth and his mother devoted to them both. "Help," she whispered playfully and with a nervous grin that made her eyes twinkle. Her heart stopped when he took her hand and she forced herself to swallow. It felt like an electric shock. Such a simple action and it caused her body to shut down. Offering him a soft smile at the squeeze, she sighed softly; she really needed to get her shit together and fast. Returning the gesture, she let the pad of her thumb stroke the back of one of his knuckles. Just the simple, repetitive action made her feel a little happier. He'd been nothing but nice to her all evening. But what happened when the food arrived? She'd have to let his hand go and not make it look suspicious. Uh-uh. She just wanted to kiss his cheek and cuddle up. "So Katie," Andy asked, looking down the table at the two teenagers with a smile. "Are you dating anyone?" Swiftly, Kate's mouth fell open as she stared at her dad, only to see him simply shrug as his eyes flicked back to the TV, ignoring the face that his only daughter was now totally mortified and wanting to die. " Dad!" The blonde hissed, turning pink again. Her mother shot her husband daggers across the table. He'd never been particularly tactful and Kate was currently ruing the day. "I, er, um," she said, totally flustered and suddenly acutely aware that there was five pairs of eyes set firmly on her and she wanted to cry. "I'm not really sure.." She settled on, clearing her throat and visibly wincing. Oh God. Please someone embarrass Logeun. They were dating, he needed to take some of the metaphorical punches for her. logeuns father grinned along with kates father "he's like a talking blender, absolutely horrid to listen to." he grinned at the request for him to join "might as well, i have nothing planned." he smiled to his wife who could only frown and shoot a 'wtf' face to her husband, but she smiled to kate's father and nodded gently.
but kates mom continued on her eventual assault, which was bringing up the issue of tennis. a brow was raised on logeun and his mothers brows. but his mother had other intentions, and logeun sensed it, as he glanced over to his mother who could only give him a weak, trickster like smile. he frowned and just sighed. she answered for him when the question came "oh im sure he will go." she smiled deviously "he wouldn't want to miss his crushes performance." he shot her a glance, but he sensed this was just the beginning.
and that it was "oh honey i would love to, but you see me and rick are a bit busy that day, thank you anyway." isolation, what a schemer, his mother really really really wanted this to work, but her comments might not help that. "and maybe you could teach him some tips! oh how lovely!" his mother gushed but he sunk further into his seat, and logeuns father only laughed, not helping at all. "he's quite the joke when it comes to sports." his father was a generic father when it came to his son, always forcing him to try and find the sport for him, but logeun wasn't a sporty guy, not at all.
but not before long, he heard kate whisper that he was a mama's boy as he was 'retrieving his napkin' and all he could mutter back is "shut up i know i know." but he wasn't harsh in his tone, more of like a jokester type of shut up. he hoped not to kill the mood. and when she asked for help, all he could do was continue with his plan and play handsie's.
that was when her father asked a rather painful question to her, even to him it was painful to listen to her trying to respond. and as a silence fell for a moment his mother followed up with the killing blow "well logeun is..." she shot him a glance "arent you sweetie!" she shrilled out as the food began to be distributed. "i...i...i.." he studdered in fear as he looked quickly to kates parents, "yes... i am..." he smiled slightly out, "and i think shes sitting nearby?" he grinned and followed through, he looked around in a thoughtfull scan, noticing a mirrored corner, he thought for a moment and remembered his angles "if you look in that mirror you'll see her."
he pointed to the mirror structure, it should aim the angle right back at kate, hopefully.

She wasn't sure just how much more uncomfortable she could possibly get. She was stupid for thinking that her parents would let them all have a nice, problem-free meal together but instead, they'd left her cursing their name. When Logeun's mother answered for him, Kate's head snapped up and now she just felt guilty. "Oh it's fine, really," she stated hurriedly, backtracking as fast as she possibly could. She shouldn't have said anything, not really. Logeun was probably busy, he had a social life so why the Hell would he be wanting to watch her volley a ball back and forth over a net?
She felt guilty, putting him on the spot like that and she wished she hadn't done that. It was unfair. At her words, Kate felt her blood run cold. Oh shit. Was it a parent's job to mentally scar their child well into their teens? It was uncomfortable for her but she could only imagine in was tenfold for him.
A true trooper, Kate simply offered his mum a shy smile. "Does Logeun fancy Kate?" |
Came the confused response from her father who quickly looked back and forth from his wife to his daughter and to Logeun, clearly not adding things up. Men! So slow on the uptake. The blonde forced herself to swallow, pretending that she hadn't heard it. But her smile soon dropped as his mum said they wouldn't be attending. "Oh," was all that she could say, trying hard to cover up her noticeable disappointment. Was that a polite way of saying that they hated her? Kate was a sensitive soul, she always took things the wrong way. She offered his parents a valiant little smile, waving a hand through the air nonchalantly to express brushing the subject aside. "Don't worry about it," she replied gently. "It was just an idea." A horrifically bad one at that, she needed to stop thinking. "I'm sure he doesn't need any," Kate piped up helpfully, springing to her boyfriend's defence with a sunny smile. His father's words upset her a little but she figured that was the way fathers and sons worked; banter, back and forth. "But I'm fairly certain I could teach him a few things," she joked, hoping to get on Rick's good side. "I've always found mental prowess far more attractive than sporting promise," the blonde replied politely, effectively trying to show Logeun that she didn't care. Jocks weren't cute. Physics nerds were cute. Kate's dad suddenly laughed and sent her a wink. He might mortify her but at least he had her back when she needed it. "I think it's cute," she said with a grin, wanting so very much to lean in. The urge to kiss the tip of his nose was almost unbearable but she settled for just holding his hand, content with the contact. She was thankful Logeun was actually holding her hand because if he wasn't, she probably would have used said hand to punch her dad in the face. She gripped his hand tightly as her pulse sped up, positively squirming. It causing her pain, actual physical pain but it was his turn now. But it still wasn't pretty the way he stumbled over his words and she wanted nothing more than to throw her arms around his neck and kiss him, showing everyone that yes, they were dating and yes, there was bugger all they could do about it. But oh Hell, this was excruciating. Kate was sure that all of the parents knew the truth and they were just doing this to torture their children but at least the food had arrived. With regret, she let go of his hand and pulled it back, offering a smile to the waiter as her food was dropped off and she wasted no time in shoving a forkful of lettuce into her mouth so she didn't have to speak. They'd both admitted they were seeing someone, his mother seemed to know that it was each other. Kate's mum was grinning broadly but her dad seemed a little lost and promptly looked around when Logeun said she was sitting close. As he said something about a mirror, Kate nearly choked on her chunk of char grilled chicken and promptly reached for her glass. As far as the revealing of a relationship went, it was pretty darn cute. Promptly, the parents swivelled around to see the aforementioned mirror and in the reflection was a shy Kate. She looked over at Logeun with a smile, suddenly overcome with a surge of affection that made her heart swell. Wait. Woah woah. He'd said they were dating. Legitimately dating. This was exciting! Still keeping a respectful distance despite wanting to do nothing of the sort, she raised a hand, indicating that she was the girl in the mirror he'd mentioned. She was in awe of all the quick maths he'd done concerning the mirror and it was honestly adorable, just like him. "Surprise?" She stated with a bright smile, feeling like she was on cloud nine. Finally, her dad realised. "Oh!" He exclaimed with a laugh, tucking into his burger happily with a shake of his head. You're dating him, Kay? I knew that. And it's nice. At least he's not a moron like the last one." "ohmygod," Kate said with a groan, slamming her left hand against her forehead as her mother tutted softly. "No Andy," Elsie said tersely, expertly twirling her pasta around her fork and taking a neat little nibble. "You are the moron, leave her alone. But good for you, Logeun. Our Katie is a good catch," Her mother concluded with a playful wink in Logeun's direction. .
logeun saw the sadness and despair in her voice as he mother went on the assault, it reminded him of a d-day landing or something. he only smiled and looked away, he would tell her later that he would go. it was far too much pressure to do it now. he could only rub his hand on hers to try and send a message of safety, he doubted it would work though.
it was his mothers test, just to see if she could hold her own ground, she knew logeun didn't fancy those cowardly nerds that he mingled with alot, but his mother thought that she, she was something else. first of she was incredibly stunning, unlike most of the insecure girls she sees when she dropped him off to school last year. now that logeun has a car and everything, she hadn't dared think of who he sees now in.
but it was a relief to her that he had finally manned up.
rick could only raise a brow, this was interesting, she was standing up for him, something was up, something he couldn't see. but he only smiled as she talked about liking brains over brawn, staying silent as he looked to the tv, to see a spectacular play go down, so he got a bit absorbed in the tv, even though the food was coming.
when she told both families it was cute he could only gush more. it was one thing to say it in between them both, but to say it to the families? that was something else. and he smiled, knowing that everyone was looking at her, his voice didn't matter right now. but it would soon.
as he went through his brain one more time, he repeated what he thought would work. and to his surprise it did, and it brought a smile to his face as the families finally brightened up and a huge weight was off his shoulder. and her father seemed the most welcoming of this news, as he pretty much proclaimed the luck. and his mother was much the same. but she poked at her husband and it made a small smile on his face. and as he began to eat his food he had begun to miss her hand.
and snapping back into reality, his parents were much the same. only smiling and nodding to the fact that he finally admitted it, they didn't want to say anything to ruin anything, so his father just began to talk to kate's father, and mother to mother, conversations flying he finally had the chance to openly talk to her.
"that was something else." he slipped in between bites as he looked to her and smiled. "i thought it was going to reflect to miss sasafras over there for a minute." he nudged his head to the old lady in the table behind kate.

Again.
His mother's refusal, however polite and totally justified, had dealt her a rather hard blow. But she'd take it. It was a stupid idea anyway and she sighed softly, dropping her eyes to focus them on the hem of her peach chiffon skirt. She'd wanted so so badly to impress her and by talking about tennis? Yup. Clearly not the way to go. So absorbed in her own failure, she barely registered Logeun trying to comfort her but she managed a small smile. Deciding wallowing didn't suit her, she looked up and to his mother again. "I'll be sure to let you know how I get on," she said breezily.
There. That was nice, right? No hard feelings.
Biting on her lower lip, she instantly regretted saying that to Logeun's father but she couldn't help herself. It was ridiculous. She'd offended both parents in the space of two minutes, that had to be record. She was definitely off his parents' Christmas card list and there was no way in Hell that she was going to be invited over to their house for Sunday dinner. This…was a big mistake. This was too soon. She hadn't been given enough time to perfect a façade. When she was herself, bad stuff always seemed to happen. Falling silent, she offered an apologetic smile to Rick. He knew what his son was like more than she did, she needed to back off.
That being said, she wasn't going to apologise for what she'd said because she was right. She didn't want a jock, she'd had a jock and it was God awful but with Logeun? The future, however tentative, looked bright. "Touchdown!" |
Her dad yelled, throwing her fists in the air with his eyes glued on the TV and the loud noise had caused Kate to drop her fork with a loud clatter. She was a nervous wreck. With eyes as wide as dinner plates, she pressed a hand to her rapidly beating heart as she coughed. "Oh sorry," her dad said, looking and sounding embarrassed but Kate only giggled. Good ol' dad, he was always good at diffusing tension, bless him. After the big reveal (she didn't know why she'd been so nervous, everyone seemed pretty cool with it) she let out a soft sigh of relief as her eye shifted from parent to parent. His were smiling so that must mean that it was good. Still blushing, she reached up to tug at a long blonde lock, an action she'd had from childhood that comforted her when she was feeling anxious. It just occurred to her that this was probably the first time Logeun would have seen her with her hair glossy and straight, it was usually in curls. She had no regrets about making a conscious effort for him. As Kate happily munched on her lettuce leaves, her mum leant across the table and towards his mum and asked her if she was interested in coming to a cake decorating class with her. Looking over at Logeun, she chuckled softly. "I thought that was really sweet," she said genuinely, her big eyes sparkling as she reached for her glass, visibly relaxing as she wrapped her lips around her straw and took a sip. "Mmm!" She said suddenly. "This is really good," she said, sounding amazed before smiling again. All she could do in his vicinity was smile. It was a bit creepy. Her instinct was to offer the glass to him in an automatic share but she forced herself to refrain. Looking over her shoulder at the lady, she laughed again. It was painfully obvious just how into Logeun she really was, every inch of her body told it to the outside world. "She's kinda pretty," she mused with a thoughtful frown of her soft plump scarlet red lips. "But she does look like she could sit for oil paintings." It felt nice to just be able to talk to him, as strange as it seemed. She wanted to hold his hand, yearned for it in fact but she needed it to hold her fork. Looking over at her parents, she was pleased to see that they were in conversation, not even noticing their kids. She wished she had a mirror, she was sure her lipstick was smudged. Not thinking much of it, she continued to eat, still feeling all warm and gooey inside from Logeun's mirror trick. That was quite possibly the most romantic thing anyone had ever done for her. She needed to make it up to him. Maybe they could share a cheesecake or something. Kate reached out and allowed the tips of her fingers to very gently brush the arm he had closest to her before turning her attention back to the table and taking a small nibble of one of the bread rolls the waiter had dropped off, eyes on the view out of the window. Vaguely, she could hear her mum telling his about Kate's love of fairytales. Why? What had that got to do with anything? She needed to escape and just be with her boyfriend. She hoped he didn't hear her mum say that as a kid, she had a colossal crush on Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. "Your parents are really nice," she said gently with another smile. .
although his mother had meant to be nice about her denial, they really did have something to do that weekend, she had a surprise in her tummy that logeun has yet to know about, and they are just making sure its even alive. but she smiled as she saw kate brushing the topic aside, good, not a girl who likes to dwell in the past, she's perfect for him.
his father was having the same mindset, and he was still a bit happy about the fact that his boy has grown up, but he saw the same denial and retraction that was expressed in her body language, he decided to say nothing as he watched a golden play unfold on the tv. when the touchdown was made his new buddy andy said the words for him. but rick stayed silent, he still had the mind that he was in a restruant, andy on the other hand... not so much.
but the mood lifted and rick just breathed out "what a play..." it was quite a nice one, caught the defense off guard and anything. but the women looked at them as if they were crazy... women, such confuzing creatures.
after his successful reveal (which he thought would fail) he felt relieved, logeun did. his parents didn't flip, nor did hers. heck they were quite happy for them. and they carried on finally knowing that the boy had the cajones to say it was a relationship. but it took alot of strength to do that. alot of strength he never knew he had. it was refreshing.
his mother of course, had been highly engaged in a conversation with kate's mother as well. and when the invitation was sent, she gladly accepted, might as well bond with the future in-laws. she thought about that with a smile, looking to logeun then getting sucked back into their chit chat.
but logeun felt himself stronger around her, especially when she smiled and thanked him like that. sure it wasn't as powerful as a kiss. its true that actions speak louder than words. but in this situation, words are enough. she commented on her drink, which made him yearn for a taste, but that would be impolite. he would have to taste it off her lips later. he could only smile and laugh softly as she told him that she was jealously pretty "she looks like crumpled up old rag." he could only whisper out with a childish grin.
another compliment poured out, but this time to his parents, his father heard it, but he didn't really care, well. he did. but this game was much more important. logeun could only smile and reply back "yours are too." he grinned and looked at his plate again, almost finished.
he then smiled as he thought of something as he ate, it was wierd how things came to him while he ate, and he hoped he wouldn't got back to being that fat nerd. "we should go for a walk after we finish, just for some fresh air." he said with a smile, making sure to make it sound casual just in case a parent over heard.

All the stress and all the work was unneeded, she'd soon realised. His parents weren't the judgemental, pompous people she thought they might be. What with his dad being a doctor, weren't they all sanctimonious? She felt guilty for even considering it. Kate had kind of wished that she'd been able to wear a pair of jeans. Her dress was gorgeous but it was constricting. She'd picked it up in a second-hand store and the lady who owned it had cooed over her when she'd tried it on, remarking that it fit her like a glove before saying that it had been a 1950's original.
She could tell with the fit and flatter cut. The boning of the dress was starting to dig into her ribs and hips, the material of the dress sucking in her already flat stomach to create that elusive hourglass shape but the longer she sat there, the more she yearned for her sweatshirt and shorts. Still! Pain was beauty and she'd knocked Logeun metaphorically off his feet and that alone was worth all of the uncomfortable feelings.
After his outburst, Kate's dad settled down, wearing a sheepish grin. He had his daughter were so alike; they had the same smile, the same outlook on life and they wore their hearts on their sleeves. She loved her dad and dearly. Oh yeah, he constantly embarrassed her in public but she wouldn't change him for the world.
Kate's mum was positively over the moon that his mother had accepted her invitation. Elsie loved to make new friends and Kate felt a little bit awkward now that their mothers were becoming fast friends. Her big green eyes watched her mum rummage in her bag to fish out her Blackberry and she proceeded to give the other woman her phone number, whether she wanted it or not. Mrs. Copperman was not given the choice. Catching her dad's eye, he offered her a sympathetic smile. They'd always been on more of the same wavelength. Andy mouthed the words "Sorry, pumpkin." |
at her which only made her smile. No, this was a good thing. Kate was as close as she could possibly be to Logeun without sitting on his lap. His remark made her laugh, giggles really. "Oh stop!" She gushed, finding it hilarious and the old woman in question turned to fix her with a menacing glare which only ceased to make her dissolve in giggles. She was laughing so hard because she knew she wasn't meant to and for the life of her, she couldn't stop. His presence was making her giddy and she loved it. She was probably flirting too hard but she couldn't help it. Flashing him a grin, she reached for her drink again, placing her left hand gently on his thigh to squeeze his knee affectionately and thinking nothing of it. Her food was nearly finished. She'd never been a big eater and her nerves had made her feel queasy for most of the evening so she simply chewed the last of her lettuce leaves in silence. The notion of a walk seemed to perk her up and she nodded eagerly, her parents exchanging knowing smiles. "Wanna go right now?" She asked gently as she sipped her sunset coloured drink once more. She was finished, he was pretty much finished, it was nice outside, why not? Their parents wouldn't miss them surely. The dads had the football game and the mums were no doubt culminating embarrassing stories to share about their kids. She was planning on paying for dinner herself. She'd been paid yesterday so she could afford it but she knew her dad would be distressed so she didn't plan on telling anyone. Ducking below the table, Kate grabbed her purse, tossing her long and lustrous locks back over her shoulder. She was still getting used to having it straight and it felt…weird. But if Logeun preferred it, she supposed she could straighten it again. "We're just going for a walk," Kate announced to the table, the adults looking up. "Okay honey," her mum replied with a pleasant smile. She debated on bringing her jacket but she didn't know how long they would be outside. Raising to her impressive full height, she offered a dimpled smile as she elegantly brushed past Logeun and wandered away from the table a little and headed straight to the bar, ready to pay and for him to join her. logeun couldnt help but notice the dress she was wearing. it was definately not of this age. shes a hipster? maybe she just was too busy to care about her dress. either way she still looked stunning in his eyes, even if she had one of the most expensive dresses in town or if she got it from a thrift store, which he doubted she did.
but his mother was having a much better time now that she was connecting with kate's mother, phone numbers were given and the plotting would soon commence. logeun couldn't help but look over to his father, who only gave him a nod and a smile, he was a man of actions than words, and it really helped sometimes. so he drifted his gaze back to his mother, who was smiling like a little girl as she finished her wine and ushered the waiter to take down her order of deserts.
she of course giggled at his comment to the old lady, it felt like middle school making fun of the poor soul like that. but he got more than what he wish for out of that. he raised both of his brows at the sudden grasp, only sinking back down slowly, trying to make the motions not so noticeable.
but when she asked him if he wanted to go all he could do was smile and nod "sure." and he looked to his parents, all busy in their conversations, or in his mothers case, food. something was up with her, she never ate deserts....
but he stood up and followed suit behind her to what seemed to be the bar. but once he got out of earshot of his family he could only smile and whisper "that was a nightmare." he said as he took a more comfortable seat, seeing as she would pay for him his heart dropped, he should be the one doing that. but no, instead she was, maybe next time when they go on a date like this, without parents, he could, no he would pay for the whole tab.
he kept his quiet though, whatever she was planning, he had to be ready for it.

Her dad asked as he finished up his meal, setting his cutlery and napkins down on his plate. Kate chewed on her lip as she thought. Did she want desert? A little part of her said yes, she would love to try the cheesecake because the picture looked delicious. Her thoughts kept drifting to Logeun. She knew it was inappropriate to be thinking of him in such a sinful way so soon, especially since he was dressed so nicely. Her mind started to drift. That well tailored shirt of his didn't do justice to the lovely muscles that were hiding underneath it. Mmm. Oh God, she needed to stop. Kate was suddenly aware that her dad was looking at her, his eyebrows raised and she blushed again. "No thanks," she said softly, looking down and feeling guilty. So guilty. For crying out loud, his mother was sitting less than three feet away from her. Andy didn't seem to realise and, like his daughter, didn't order anything. Elsie ordered apple pie, like she usually did, served warm with ice cream. It was their "thing", a cute married couple quirk. She always ordered the same but she asked for two spoons so she and her husband could share. Previously, she'd always gagged at it but maybe because she was all loved up, she thought it was kinda cute. Once at the bar, the waiter behind the counter flashed her a smile and she blushed, unable to help it. He was cute, all blonde and tall with vivid green eyes. He said hi and she said hi back, handing over her credit card. Kate was a flirty girl, she always had been, was Logeun the jealous type? He shouldn't be, she wasn't a cheater. By the time he joined her, she had already completed her signature, large and loopy as she handed the slip of paper back to the young man. "Hi," the blonde said with a broad smile that lit up her entire face as Logeun came to sit next to her. She took no notice of the boy behind the bar who eyed him suspiciously. "Oh it wasn't so bad," she said with a grin, sliding her hand down one of his strong arms. "I mean yeah, parts were wholly uncomfortable," she said with a chuckle, placing her card back into her purse and into her clutch bag. "They're nice and they clearly love you. They were just checking that I passed the initial test and I hope I did." Suddenly, she stopped when he frowned. "Don't give me that look," she scolded him lightly, her bright red lips pouting at him. "Your parents will think my parents paid, my parents will think your parents paid, no one will know I paid, it's a perfect plan!" She said, exasperated and hoping that it didn't lead to their first fight as a couple. Aha. Couple. So strange. Yeah it was expensive but she wanted to let Logeun know right from the start that she wasn't one of those girls. She didn't expect him to pay for everything and she didn't want him to. She realised that he wanted to, he was that kind of guy and she knew that she would have to relinquish her control occasionally. Kate looked up at him, giving him the classic puppy dog eyes as she pouted again, tilting her head to the side. Was it too early on in the relationship to be using her feminine wiles against him? Maybe. Probably. Hopefully he'd just laugh and forgive her. Or swoop her up in his arms. Oh yeah. That was way better. "To be honest, it's killing me not being able to touch you," she finally admitted as she chewed on her lip. His reaction to her touching his thigh wasn't what she wanted but she could see why. Thighs were sensitive. Sliding back onto her feet, she smiled again, afraid to hold his hand as she turned and headed straight out of the front door of the restaurant. She wasn't usually so self conscious but she couldn't help but feel like she'd made so many mistakes tonight. She just needed a cuddle. Once outside, she inhaled the sea breeze. It felt delicious as it whipped up her long blonde hair, causing her to close her eyes briefly. Her hands went to her waist and she rubbed the sore spots where the boning had been digging into her soft pale skin. It was worth it. If she looked good, she'd take it. She was living proof that girls didn't need to spend a fortune on the latest designer fashions to impress a boy. Her boy impressed her. "You look really nice tonight," she said with a soft smile as she sensed him behind her. "Do you want to go for a quick walk? Away from prying eyes?" She asked with a grin, pointing to her mum who was looking out of the window. Without waiting for an answer, she tilted her head and began to walk. when she lit up, he could only smile, he listened and nodded, noticing the rather looky bartender who quickly went back to work as logeun shot him a rather fake smile. "i guess your right." but then she kind of veered off and talked about some initial test with his parents "oh you did fine, dont worry." he could only try to comfort her, she seemed really stressed about tonight, but he had no clue how to relieve it.
as logeun frowned slightly she sort of noticed, which he knew he shouldn't have done. after his slight mistake and her explaining the situation he knew she did the right thing, and besides, she was the first one here to pay for the table. then again, what girl would want to pay a table tab. he would let it slide, but next time he would pay, maybe it could be a back and forth thing, so no person has the burden of the relationship, money wise. he only lifted a small smile as if to say 'ok'.
oh god her looks were killing him, he could only smile and brighten up as she did those eyes, he would kiss her for sure, but his parents would expect some decency, having massive temptations sucked.
he could only whisper in response to her wants "me too." he said with an invisible wink. atleast it was invisible to his parents rather, he did it with the hidden eye. there was a moment of rest, and then she was on her feet again, moving towards the exit. freedom awaits. he grinned, freedom to do what they were hiding, freedom, such a misused word.
he followed suit beside her, opening the door for her, like what he was supposed to do, atleast in his mothers eyes. and as he walked out, he stood behind, but quickly got in her view as she spoke "oh thank you." he wanted to say so much more, but he knew she knew that he would say it. it should be implied that she looked absolutely stunning, he only said it about a million times. he smiled at her suggestion for a walk, and followed behind her, but quickly caught up to her.
once the windows of the place could not see them he thought of what he should do, now that they were alone. he looked to her for a moment, a smile on his face, they were walking on a dock. and it seemed like a love story moment. he grasped her hand and smiled, looking to her and thinking of what to do. maybe she would attack him, or they could wait till the end of the road, or dock or whatever, and just enjoy a few there, it was really all up to her. all he cared about was that he was with her, and that nothing would change that.

She was kidding. She was often wrong but a bit of gentle banter wouldn't send him running for the hills. He seemed to like her personality so far so why change? If he fell deeper for her (which she hoped!), she didn't want to be fake. His words seemed to soothe her and she nodded. It meant so much to her that she earned his parents approval. "Thank you," she said with a gentle smile, ignoring the cute bartender who seemed to have disappeared without warning. Besides, she only had eyes for Logeun.
Aha! Puppy dog eyes worked! She'd store that away for use at a later date. When he winked, her heart did a somersault in her chest and she felt a curious thrill of excitement shoot down her spine. Did he…find her sexually attractive? Or was he just being nice? Either way she was enjoying herself immensely. Yup. They needed to leave. Her hormones were dancing a salsa, right there in the middle of the restaurant.
"Why thank you, kind sir," the tall girl replied cheerily, sinking into a low curtsy, clearly joking as he held the door open for her. Did he have any idea the last time anyone had ever done that for her? In school, she was usually too busy chatting to a friend and she often walked into doors that had been slammed so unceremoniously in her face. He was just so cute, it was impossible to be anything other than goofy around him. She needed to stop.
Noticing him staring at her, Kate laughed. "What?" She asked, her eyes wide, letting them scan his handsome face. She was suddenly overcome with the overwhelming desire to compliment his chin. As weird as it sounded, she was a chin kinda girl. Some girls went for nice eyes or a perfect smile but she was all about chins. His was so strong and defined, it was a wonder how she hadn't melted right on the spot. Blushing deep pink, her hands went to her face, confused as to why he was looking at her so intently. Did she have something on her face, in her teeth? Confused, she simply stared back at him, her lips forming a big, goofy grin.
As Logeun took her hand, her left cheek dimpled as her smile stretched. He was holding it tightly and she liked that and she gave his hand a squeeze. "Hi," she said with a shy smile as she gave his hand a tug, guiding him to walk, her heels clacking merrily. Kate was hesitant to kiss him. She was wearing statement lipstick in a rather seductive shade of red. The manufacturer promised "12 hours of kiss-proof colour" but she wasn't sure she wanted to risk it but the thought amused her. As she ambled, she absently swung their interlinked fingers together gently, much the same as a toddler was. Kay was young for her years, she really was.
"Fancy heading to the rocks?" Kate asked as she lazily wandered, she was in no rush to reach her destination at all and why should she be? She had great company. Subtly, she took a half-step towards Logeun, effectively invading his personal space so their shoulders very softly occasionally brushed as they walked.
"It's so nice tonight," she mused out loud, her plump lips forming a thoughtful frown as she looked around. The sky was slowly turning orange and the soft light made her skin look like it was glowing as the underside of the clouds were tinged with red. Little did Logeun know but they were heading to her secret place. Well…it wasn't exactly secret, people often went there but it was secret to her. "Wanna see something?" She asked, her pretty face lighting up with excitement. Pausing, she slid off her shoes and lead him towards a couple of steps which she neatly descended. Momentarily (and regretfully) she let go of his hand as she carefully and gracefully picked her way across a few worn, jagged rocks, looking like a dainty little ballerina.
"I come here to think," she explained. It probably didn't make much if any sense to him but she was showing him somewhere…sacred to her. The rocky shoreline wasn't used as near as much as it should. "It's kind of like my secret garden," she said with a smile. "Well, secret rock garden," she corrected herself with a chuckle. "Careful, don't slip." laughed at her sarcasm in her voice as she thanked him for the opening of the door, he was sure plenty of guys did it for her, why was it still so special to her? maybe she really meant it? he didn't know, he didn't want to think, all he wanted to do was to be with her, without the eyes of his parents staring down at him like a hawk as they did at the table. or was he imagining that too?
when he took her hand, she could only say out a cheeky hello, which his smile widened to but he decided not to speak, not before long however, did she start to smile, oh how it brought butterflies to his heart. the lipstick made it even more boho bold. and he almost missed her question. when he deciphered the statement he only grinned out a soft "why not." and again, he was following suit.
as he finally noticed the surroundings, due to her comment about the night he could only nod and whisper out "almost as beautiful as the girl next to me." he finished with a cheeky grin, there was no one else on the docks, so he was good in terms of timing. and when she beckoned him to come forth he could only follow her example, taking his shoes off and socks as well, and was now barefoot as she was.
couldn't help but laugh at the expertise she had on her feet, dancing on the rocks like a ballerina at her recital. he followed her example and took her warning, almost slipping as he tried to be as nimble as her, but he decided to be safe and follow a less agile path, but still keeping up his pace behind her, and before long he looked back and the dock was far behind him, and he looked ahead towards the sunset, continuing to follow her, like a lost puppy to a potential owner.
he could only smile at the memory of their last time on the beach. but he looked to her, wondering if they reached her spot yet.

Even though he didn't think it, she very rarely was told she was beautiful. Except by her mother but that didn't really count. She was smitten. She was practically purring like a happy kitten. Kate's cheeks turned a soft shade of pink, utterly flattered and totally caught off guard. She'd blushed countless times tonight and she wished she could stop it but blushing was an occupational hazard with her and one of the many reasons that she was a terrible liar.
"Oh stop," she said with a giggle, her cheeks now turning the same shade as the pinky watercolour sky. Logeun Copperman was on a charm offensive tonight. Did he learn that from his dad? Or all of those romantic movies she knew he secretly watched? That was another reason she found him so attractive, the fact that he wouldn't pull a face if she dragged him to the cinema to watch a chick flick. One of many reasons, really. His eyes, his smile, his warmth, his intellect, his shyness. Whoopsie-daisy, she might be a little head over heels.
The reason Kate was so deft on her feet was simply because it was a path she'd travelled often, three times a week at least. Hearing a noise behind her, she stopped to turn quickly. "Logeun!" She exclaimed, worried he might have slipped. This was a bad idea. Her eyes were wide as the colour drained from her face, dropping her shoes onto the rocks with a clatter as she neatly danced her way back over. Upon reaching him, she was relieved to see he hadn't fallen to his death and that he'd just momentarily lost his footing. That would have been an appalling day with the date ending with him in the local hospital.
"You scared me!" She exclaimed, the tip of her nose wrinkling with anger before she realised that it was all her fault. Exhaling, she leant up onto her tiptoes to press her lips against his in a brief kiss. Pulling back and dropping back to her proper height, she blinked at him, her eyes drifting to his mouth as she chewed on her lip. No sign of any of her lipstick as she'd imagined. Ah to Hell with it.
Kate kissed him again, a little harder this time. Her long arms wound themselves around Logeun's neck as she stepped closer, their bodies now connected from lip to knees as she parted her lips to kiss him again. Closing her eyes, she poured feeling into the kiss. She hadn't really seen him since that night on the beach a few days ago and sitting through dinner, with him so close and not being able to do anything, was positively torture but she was making up for it now. She hoped she wasn't accidentally suffocating the poor boy. A minute or two ticked by before she finally let him go, taking a step back to catch her breath. There. Without saying anything, she simply offered him a sunny smile before bending to collect her shoes and carry on walking.
Kate followed the rocks down towards the shoreline before coming to a stop. Setting her shoes down, she carefully manoeuvred her body. Shifting a little, she perched herself on the edge of a worn rock, trying hard to preserve her modesty as she fixed the hem of her dress, her long bare legs dangling over the edge. Kate dipped her feet into the still warm ocean, the nails of which were painted a shade of red to match her lipstick. Wiggling her bare toes, she let out a contented sigh, absently moving her feet through the water without care.
"Not much of a secret," she admitted with a shy smile. "But no one can find me here." That much was true, no one every really tended to look for her. The spot was a little away from the main beach and tourist attractions and that was probably the reason why. She imagined it was popular with couples, what with it being secluded but, to her, it was one of the best places to watch the sunset in Ocean City. "What do you think?" She asked, looking up at Logeun. She wanted to know what he thought of her favourite place in town. It was also a good place to catch crabs but there was no way in Hell she'd spoil such a romantic moment with talk of seafood. Even if they could spend ten minutes alone with each other, it would make the trauma of meeting his parents go away. A little. It was still scary as all Hell. as he slightly slipped he only held a small grin as she got all scared and stuff. it was cute to see her caring, but also if gave him a sense of relief knowing that she cared for him. he didn't really want to slip, or else he'd be in the hospital and she'd be all alone for a bit, he never ever wanted to leave her side. and hopefully she shared the same belief. he held a smile however, watching her come back to him, and as she did all he could do was hold a small stare.
was about to say something, like a 'sorry' or a 'my bad'. but her lips took the apology before he spoke, and they held a rather painfully brief kiss. he continued to hold his smile, looking down at the pink face that was made into a picturesque view by the setting sun. and not before long they shared a few more. as she wrapped her hands around his neck he could only find the decency to do the same, but with her waist. any lower and it might ruin the moment. and besides, he wasn't that pervy.
she stopped just in time before he ran out of breathe, and she literally did take his breathe away. such a criminal, but he guesses it was payback for the surprise kiss he threw her on the beach the other day.
once she continued to move he did the same, until she stopped by a rather secluded area, rocky and with a perfect view of the setting sun. he could only whisper "wow..." but he continued to keep pace. and once she sat down on a rock he followed suit. he sat beside her, amazed at the luck he was in, he had been shown a rather interesting place, he was with the most interesting girl he knew, this night has been rather.... interesting.
"its...." he smiled, knowing she would expect him to compliment her, yet again, but he would have to save his endless banter of love later. "magnificent." he frowned at his word choice, the place was indescribable.
with the finishing of his amazement, he wrapped one of his arms around her looking to her for a brief moment and then looking to the lazy sun, beginning to set, which made it possible for them to look at it, or else their eyes would have been burned out of their sockets.
he looked to her again, trying to compare the two beauty's, obviously picking kate as the winner. he then blurted out in a whisper "what a view..." he said rather dumbly, but the silence was killing him.
