here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
Molly wasn't sure whether she should be angry at Derrick for withholding vital information, or whether she should let him off the hook. Corbin coming back was not something she often dwelt upon, especially since, as of a few days ago, he had been pleasantly located in Texas. Now, that was not the case anymore, and Molly had been taken a little off-guard by the sudden reappearance of her friend. Granted she loved Corbin, she'd been friends with him for a good portion of her life and that didn't change the fact that she was happy to see him, but a heads up would have been preferred to running into him at a coffee shop unprepared. Her brown eyes narrowed as she glanced at her cell phone, weighing her options. She could call Derrick and yell at him, but Molly wasn't much for yelling and that was much too impersonal. Besides, she loved Derrick just as much as she loved Corbin, and had been friends with him just as long. They were a team, a trio, well, they were now. And then there were three. They'd been a duo for a short time with Corbin gone, but now that he was back, their duo was up to two.
A little warning would have been nice.
Maybe she was just upset that Corbin hadn't told her. He told Der, and had assured her that even his parents didn't know he was in town, but really? Der couldn't have told her? Perhaps she just felt excluded and that was what made her upset. The woman sat on her couch and watched as the enormous dog, Boo, uncurled himself from his bed and stretched. The canine, once limbered up, lazily plodded toward her and deposited his massive head in her lap. "Yeah, I know, Boo," She pet the canine's head as she looked at her phone again. She might as well head over, since she hadn't seen Der in a while and if she didn't get to see Dmitri soon she might explode. Mindful that the baby might be napping, she shot him a text, a simple I'm coming over., nothing out of the ordinary. She never just went over and knocked, in case the baby was napping, because she was thoughtful and considerate - something apparently Derrick and Corbin weren't. Although she wasn't that upset by the whole matter, it did itch away at her subconscious. It wasn't that hard to pop up and say 'Hey Molly, Corbin's coming back to Ocean City' was it? Of course not. Molly wasn't exactly a grudge-holder or wrathful in any way, so it wasn't like she'd keep it over their heads. But she'd just wished they'd thought to include her too.
The drive to her friend's place wasn't all that long, and when she parked, she sent him another text that she was there and to open the door because she didn't want to stand outside all day. It was a joke, honestly, and she got out of her car to head to the doorway. "Wasn't sure if the baby was sleeping." She explained, holding up her phone to explain the texts. Not that she needed to, it was routine. "So when were you planning on telling me that Corbin was back?" She piqued a slender brow at her friend and hoisted her purse a little higher on her shoulder. "A head's up would have been nice, y'know Der."

N I C E T O S E E Y O U A G A I N ! how have you been ? [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image: url(http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad32/paperheartx_x/bg3.png); width: 388px; padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 20px;]
Oh the lovely sensation that fills the body when you realize that in that particular day nothing needed to get done. Derrick was thrilled, no, he was beaming with pure and utter happiness while his eyes traveled around the living room. A small one sided smile was on his lips, his deep, ocean blue eyes settled on the television in the end. Even when the stupidity box was not what he would have liked to pick at the moment he felt that maybe that would do if Dmitri ended up asleep in the next couple of minutes. Going against his better will, Derrick put on feet forward, impulsing his feet to move in order to head down the hall that lead to the bedrooms; which eventually guided him to Dmitri's bedroom where the little kid seemed to be moving a little around the crib which caused a bright smile to appear on his lips. It was amazing to be able to spend time with his kid, he was just always looking forward to being with him, even when he knew that he should allow the kid to sleep more. It was impossible for him not to want to riled him up, he only wanted to have fun with the little fella on this day that everything that needed to be done was done. The twenty-seven year old father had done it all the day before in order to have this day off; he was particularly lazy, but when he truly wanted to get things done he was able to do that. Like today; too bad there was no one around for him to brag about. Eyes locked on the kid that was moving, even when Loki was trying to demand his attention by moving around at his feet. "Come on, let's go to the living room" he said as his hands picked up the baby, seeing him smile while his eyes glanced around the room. It still amazed him how Dmitri could look surprised, even when he had seen this room on countless occasions.
Once he was settled at the living room, with a baby blue blanket over the floor, some toys scattered all around, his kid moving around a little and himself sitting down at the floor, he felt like his day was ready to start. Most guys that he knew would not be particularly pleased with spending their day like this, but he knew that at least one would understand why he is so entertained right now. Corbin knew how much Derrick loves Dmitri. A small sigh escaped his lips, seeing the kid move to grab one of his toys; making some cute baby noises as he hugged the little toy against his little body. "It's good to have a day together, right?" Derrick was truly beaming right now; glad nothing was ruining the moment while he heard his son laugh and move his hands a little, seeing the little man moving to crawl around when he saw Loki walking into the living room to join them. It was then that he heard a noise, his cell phone ringing and he reach over to the couch where his phone was and he read the text quickly. A smile came to his lips; he hadn't seen Molly in a while and it was always nice to spend time with her. He didn't bother in replying, for she already knew that she was able to come anytime she wants; his house was truly open to his friends any time, any day. On another note, he was sure that Dmitri would love to see Molly once more, it was good to see that all of his close friends seem to get along with the little fella. "Do you want to see Molly? Yes you do, don't you" he said smiling as he picked him up and kissed his cheek; hearing the kid laugh as he bounced him up and down. It was just amazing how much a single little non-talking person could do for him to be happy. The kid truly looked like Anna, it had so many of her features, which caused him to smile even more as he was about to set the little kid down but he stopped, instead holding him close as he moved to read the new text on his phone. "Come, let's go before she gets upset with us...or, well, me" he said chuckling as he pushed to stand up, walking over to the door, opening it with a smile as he saw Molly.
The greeting was definitely not what he had been expecting to hear; although he did appreciated the fact that she took into consideration his little kid. "Oh well he-" his voice stopped as soon as he noticed the look on her face, instantly causing him to stop his thinking and listen instead. Oh Corbin; his eyes instantly turned into a sort of puppy dog eyes; it was impossible for him not to do that. It wasn't that they had planned it that way, it was not their intention to hide this away from her. "I am sorry Molly; we have been a little busy with getting him at his new apartment that we didn't had time to tell you" he apologized, holding up Dmitri while moving back so she could step inside. "Besides I had work to do and a little kid to watch but....now you know that Corbin is back in town you should be happy about it" he mentioned, smiling at the fact that he had his best friend back, obviously happy about that fact but highly sad that it was due to those circumstances. "Wait, how do you know he's back? did he went to see you?" Derrick asked, reaching the living room and sitting down on the floor once more, soon letting Dimitri down as well, where the kid quickly went to play with Loki once more, tugging on his large ears or hugging him as if he was another plushy. Now that she knew he felt better, but Molly couldn't blame him for this, it had been Corbin the one not to let her know he was back; in fact, as far as he knew, he was the only one who knows that Corbin was back.

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
Molly, as a rule, never got angry. She hadn't in high school, she hadn't as a young adult, and on the cusp of thirty or so now, she still didn't. She was a generally laid back person, the kind to let things go with the flow and roll with the punches, instead of fighting the current and making waves. Even now, annoyed that no one had given her a heads up to Corbin coming back, she wasn't prone to make waves. Ripples, maybe, but most certainly not waves. In fact, she could never really remember a time in her life where she had raised her voice or actually told someone off, not even in high school, when she'd been a little crazier than she was now. So it was no surprise when Der opened the door and had Dmitri up, that any sort of idea of even possibly getting angry sort of fell out of her plans for the day. Not that she could genuinely be mad at Der as it stood, but Dmitri sort of sealed the deal. The worst part was is that Molly was fairly certain he knew that. No sooner than the name had left her lips, Derrick pulled the puppy dog eyes, and Molly squirmed a little. "Der, stop that," She mumbled, glaring at him. It wasn't serious though; there wasn't a soul on the planet who could resist Derrick Romanov's puppy eyes. "Really." Her glare had dissolved at that point, cracked around the edges to let a laugh through, and she was smiling at him fondly. He was one of her best friends, the only one she had left on Ocean City, so how could she stay mad at him? Corbin was back now, so she supposed she had two, but she and Der had stuck around each other lately.
"It's fine, I guess," She said, smiling at Dmitri as Der moved to let her in. She wasn't seriously bothered or anything, but the courtesy - baton down the hatches, Corbin's coming into town - would have been nice. She hadn't seen him in seven years, after all. They moved to the living room and Molly sat down a little ways across from Der, her legs folded up because, of all days to be sitting on the living room floor, she picked this one to wear a dress. Molly smoothed out the canary yellow fabric and looked at her friend. "Believe it or not, I actually ran into him at Starbucks." She said, laughing while she did, because it sounded hilarious. "I feel like I'm in a movie, you know? Like you don't see your friend because he moved to Texas, and then one day you run into him at Starbucks and your whole life goes crazy." She laughed because it was true, because Corbin coming back had completely changed everything. Not in a bad way of course, she was elated that Corbin had come back, even if he was a bit childish still and she worried about him teaching impressionable teenagers at a school. Though it wasn't genuine worry, she knew, she was sure he would be successful and he'd be one of the fun teachers at Manchester - they certainly needed a few more there. And if Der had thought enough to help him get a job at Manchester with him, then obviously he'd done something to prove himself worthy of it.
She turned her brown eyes toward Dmitri and Loki, and watched them play. Molly couldn't help the mother henning, she just couldn't - at first she'd been a little worried for the kid. A fox, really? But they got on so well that it was easy to sometimes forget that most people didn't have pet foxes. She looked back to Der and set her purse down beside her. "And I never said I wasn't happy about him being back," She answered, "Just shocked, you know?" And perhaps a little hurt, because she had run into him at Starbucks, which meant he hadn't had plans on telling her he was back yet. In fact, that he had been back, for however long, and hadn't made a call to tell her, or stopped by her house. That was probably the worst part. They'd been friends for so long, after all. But maybe, with him having been gone to Texas for all those years, and her never going out to visit, maybe they weren't as good of friends as she thought? She shook the thought from her head and pulled her hair back thoughtfully. "So how are you? I didn't really come here to barge in and make you feel bad, I promise. Not that I could really do that when you bust out the puppy dog eyes less than three seconds after I get here." She laughed and shook her head at Der. "My real reason for coming was seeing this little man," She looked over at Dmitri and smiled. "Because I'm fearfully afraid he stole my heart and won't give it back." Molly loved kids, she always had and always would, and her greatest regret was that she hadn't gotten married and had any of her own yet. So Dmitri was as close as she got, and she was determined to spoil him rotten if she was given half the chance to do so.

If there was something Derrick Romanov enjoyed, were this little casual and non planned visits from his friends. Some people might enjoy it when someone lets them know they are coming over, so they can get ready, clean up the house or maybe even plan out the rest of their day but not Derrick. With being an almost neat freak came the benefit of always having his house in a spotless way; so there was no way for him to have to hurry up to clean up the house once Molly had announced she was dropping by. To say that he was not surprised would be a lie, but then again who was he to say that her not having anything to do today was a rare thing? For all he knew she was always free during this day and he just had never been fortunate enough to have her come visit him; or him to go visit her of course. His eyes stayed on the girl that was now stating at his doorway; he looked at her for a few seconds as if comparing her to what they were like back at school. Honestly he felt like they all had changed, whether it was in a physical aspect or a mental one didn't quite mattered much but he did felt they were all different on a little way. Obviously the changed had been for the best, because he adored all of his friends and actually felt glad that they all seemed to have a somewhat steady life. Sure Corbin's had changed a little due to what had happened at Texas but he was still happy to have his best friend back. It was that reason that Derrick had given out great reviews on the male; so he could get a job at Manchester. In all honesty, he felt the school needed teachers like Corbin, and maybe even like himself; they needed to be more open and relaxed, to not be so strict because that only causes the student to want to leave the class and be done with it. So with that done he had decided to help his friend as much as possible so his life could be back on track. He had to smile at what she was saying; loving the fact that he could always manage to pull out those puppy eyes mixed with the cuteness that is Dmitri and he was saved.
It was amazing to hear that answer come from him because he would have hated it if she had said that it had been awkward or annoying to see the fella once more. In all honesty he missed spending time with the two of them; they seriously needed to get together and enjoy the time. His eyes looked over at her, nodding his head and then laughing at how they had met. A quick smirk came to his lips when she began to mention the movie scene like that was her meeting with Corbin. Boy did he thought so many things at the time that could probably cause Molly to pounce on his and make him eat his words and regret them; so for his sake he did his best to keep all comments of the sort inside his head instead of bursting out of his mouth. "You know, he doesn't go to Starbucks that often, that I know off at least" Derrick was going for the safe ground here, he was doing his best not to tease her or anything because she had literally just walked through the door like less than five minutes ago and it might be too soon but she was clearly giving him all the ammunition to bother her a little. A chuckle came to his lips and that was when he knew he had lost it, Derrick Romanov had lost and it he was surely going to pay for his following words but damn, they were going to be absolutely worth it in his mind. "You know, funny that you mentioned it was like in a movie" he started, preparing Molly and himself for the final blow. "I think it is like a movie as well" maybe he was just trying to delay the punch. "I feel like you should agree with me when I say that 'bump at Starbucks' could be your meet-cute; I mean, it would surely be cute" he finished and a wide smirk came to rest on his lips in matter of seconds. It was too good, to perfect and too freaking amazing not to say it; he had saved away all the other comments and this was the less teasing, so she should actually be thankful that he picked this one out of the rest.
As soon as those words were out he had been seeing Molly eying both Loki and Dmitri; he couldn't believe that after seeing how the pair interacted she still seemed to be a little worried every now and then about them. It was a silly thing to be worried about, Loki was more likely to bite him than Dmitri. However he felt people would most likely see it that way so he had learned to deal with it. "Yeah I suppose I would have been shocked if all of the sudden he was there" Derrick admitted as his head moved up and down. He then moved to take his kid; bouncing him a little while Loki looked at both of them with a careful eye. Oh, that comment on his puppy dog eyes just send him over the edge and he began to laugh; causing Dmitri to laugh as well due to the sound. "Oh, well if all I have to do is to give you those eyes then I am most definitely going to use them more often" he said as he looked at her and then saw Dmitri moving to want to go over to Molly so he let him go for him to crawl his way over to him."There's no way for him not to have done that" he said with a chuckle before shrugging "Although I am sad to know you didn't came here to see me" he added with a shake of his head while he moved to pet Loki who had come to move closer to him as if seeking attention from someone. "So, what did you two talked about? anything interesting?" he asked a second later, kind of like wanting to know how the entire thing had gone just for mere curiosity to be honest. He felt like they all got along, but after that night when Corbin just left without saying goodbye he had wondered if anything had happened while Anna and himself had been else where, leaving the two alone but he never asked and besides, he knew that if something had happened, they would have told them. He was certain of that for they told each other everything.

here i am, a rabbit hearted girl, frozen in the light,
Corbin didn't go to Starbucks often, eh? Molly resisted the urge to let her eyes narrow at her friend; a nagging suspicion rose in her that he was going somewhere with that, and she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to follow Der off the deep end just yet. "Well maybe he needed some coffee. Late nights, not unlike Corbin." She said, her voice breezy and nonchalant. She fixed Der a look, because it wasn't unlike Corbin's reputation didn't precede him. It was hard not to know about Corbin's tendencies to sleep around - he'd done it high school, and for all Molly knew, he still did. People like that didn't just change overnight or anything, and Molly seriously doubted Texas had done much to tame the beast that was Corbin Castleman. "I wouldn't be surprised if he had someone keeping him up at night, you know? Things like that make a man need caffeine. Typical Corbin." And that was it. She wouldn't have honestly been surprised if it was. Not even bothered, actually, because she happened to like familiarity and Corbin sleeping around was something that was familiar. The woman shifted and tugged down at the hem of her yellow dress, so it went down over the curve of her knee.
Almost from the tone of his voice, Molly knew where Der was going with the movie comment. She regretted it immediately, and her eyes narrowed as she looked at him. "Der-" She started, her tone warning. Derrick loved to tease her, and she loved to tease him in return - in fact, most of their friendship was based upon mutual teasing - but it didn't mean she enjoyed all of it. Her narrow brows lowered above her eyes, and her face became the closest to menacing that it ever could. "It was not a... A... A meet-cute!" She said, or rather stammered, enthusiastically. "It wasn't like I planned it, I just wanted a frapp and a quiet spot to read my book!" It wasn't like she knew Corbin would come sauntering into her life like he'd never left it seven years ago, it wasn't like she planned to meet up with the kid who had made her life a purgatory of regret for a year after he left. It wasn't like she had intended to bump into him at all. There were too many what-ifs and alternate scenarios that had gone through Molly's head for the year after he left for her to casually want to bump into Corbin at a Starbucks. Moreover, she should have known Derrick would tease her for it, and that would have been enough to avoid the coffee house on her own.
She nodded as she watched Loki and Dmitri. "I mean, part of me is like 'Okay, he's here, that's great' right? But there's another part of me that is utterly offended that he didn't tell me he came back." She grumbled, and then shot Der a look. "And it's not because I'm madly in love with him or whatever your convoluted little maniac mind can come up with." She wasn't, that was for sure. But they had been best friends before he left, and it was mostly - entirely - her fault that he had left in the first place, because he'd given her the power to stop him and she didn't. She trusted enough to tell Der about it, because he was really the only one she could tell. He was the only one who would understand, or at least come close to understanding, how bad it would make her feel to have a friend outside of her life for so long magically reappear without telling her. "But at the same time, Corbin and I have been friends for years. And I know he told you he was coming back, but he didn't tell me. I ran into him on accident. Like, I don't even know if he was planning on ever telling me." It hurt too, cause they had been friends for so long. And they had been close, especially after Derrick and Anna went off to college, and when Molly's dad died, it had been Corbin who sat up and made her feel like the world wasn't completely slipping out of her grasp. Molly smiled as Dmitri crawled over to her, and she hoisted the child onto her lap. "Well, jeez Der, why on earth would I come here to see you?" She laughed as she looked up over Dmitri's head at her friend. She then preoccupied herself with making goofy faces at the baby, poking her tongue out in a raspberry. "Uh, I don't know, it was a pretty typical reunion-type deal. He told me about Ash's baby... Uhhh, told me that you and Josh knew he was in town but I didn't... Got a job at Manchester... I think that's about it." No talk about the disastrous last night, or that kiss, or anything. Of course she had purposefully omit the part about the date that he'd somehow managed to coerce her into. She felt guilty, she owed him a yes, that was all it was. All it was. And she'd keep telling herself that.

N I C E T O S E E Y O U A G A I N ! how have you been ? [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image: url(http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad32/paperheartx_x/bg3.png); width: 388px; padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 20px;]
It was what he had understood, that Corbin was not very fond of going to Starbucks very often but then again he could always be mistake; however, for purposes of the situation at hand and his lovely teasing, he was going to insist on the fact that he was right and nothing would be able to stop him. Oh Corbin and his fame; it was going to be difficult for him to shake that away, just like he had a reputation of being rather picky, even when he had been in school and a jock people knew that if he dated someone or if he slept with someone it was going to be because he found them to be more than just a pretty face. "Oh, he is not like that so much anymore, people grow up, you know" it seemed like a good way t give his friend a bit more of a good fame, or at least the kind of fame that Molly would think was good or at least in the right direction. The guy chuckled, it did sounded very much like their friend, out of the two -former three- he was the one who happened to sleep around. Anna was never that kind, even when being a cheerleader sometimes could steer you to that direction due to the reputation, but Anna and Molly were the living example that that wasn't particularly true. He could also fit in there, for jocks tended to 'go under the bleaches' but he was never that kind due to more than one reason. "Oh, I doubt it, Molly" a shake of his head was given before he dropped that subject now.
It was impossible to miss the tone of voice on Derrick's voice, one knew very well when he was about to say something to them that was meant to tease, to be a joke, to play mock them if you will. It was just easy to change the tone and despite his efforts to sometimes stop himself from being obvious he found that it was impossible. Not even her mention of his little nickname said in a warning voice caused him to stop. She had to know it was going to happen, she had basically set it up for him to say it. Molly and her menacing face; if he didn't knew her so well he would actually come to believe that she was upset with him; however he knew her too well to know that now all he needed to do for her to forgive him was to pull out the puppy dog eyes and Dmitri and he was set for life. It took all of his power not to just burst out into laughter, however when she spoke he lost it. "Molly, that is why it's called a meet-cute, because you don't plan it, it just happens" he spoke through the laughter, his eyes lip up when he said those things, finding he would think it cute if his friends ended up together. "I think this is a nice meet-cute you know; I would be alright if this was the start of it all, and know I called it first is awesome" smirks, finally being able to stop laughing and merely smiling over at her. Oh to be able to tease her; this was not how he had planned his day to be like but he welcomed it nonetheless. The plan was to spend the day with Dmitri all day, and he was doing that so it was great.
Derrick felt like he could somehow comprehend why she was feeling on the offended side that he didn't told her he was here, he would have felt the same way if his friend hadn't told him. However, in his mind, in the end he would have been fine with it, he got his friend back and that was what would have counted. Today Derrick Romanov could not wipe the smirk off of his face, she was amazingly good at causing him to do so. "Hey, you love my maniac little mind, it has the best ideas and you know it" how could someone hate his mind? It was really a part of him that he loves and felt was worthy of bragging, something he had done in his youth quite a lot. That and playing sports of course, although that wasn't so much bragging as it was showing that he was good at them, it came with having to play out in the field. Derrick had always felt something was missing, from the day that Corbin had left Ocean city but he had never truly been told if he was right or wrong; he had asked Corbin and he had asked Molly, neither of them really saying anything to him so he had decided that he was just being paranoid; they were his best friends in the world, they would have told him if anything important had happened. There was no way for him to obsess over it once more, he had done that for a few months after Corbin was gone, but now it was buried deep within his mind and he was leaving it there; not wanting to think he had missed something all of this years. "Molly don't be silly, of course he was planning on telling you; I think he was just waiting for him to get settled so you wouldn't think he was just crashing and not getting his life together" he rose an eyebrow for a second, unable to truly believe that Molly would think that Corbin was planning on never telling her he was back. Out of all the people in here, he was certain she was the next on the list, and he also felt he had given a valid reason for Cor not telling Molly he was back. Despite Corbin being the particularly way that he was, he had grown regardless of him realizing about it or not, and he wanted the rest of the people to realize about it as well. "Oh I don't know, because I am your best friend?" Derrick said with a shake of his head while he noticed her picking up Dmitri. He hide away a smile by placing his hand over his mouth for a few seconds, having always found amusing how people tended to make funny faces at babies. Him included in that group of people of course, but he still found it rather amusing and funny. Der nodded as she told him what they had done in their little meet-cute (for he is now forever referring to that moment with such name) his hand moved to pet Loki, grabbing a little toy and throwing it over at him for him to entertain himself with it. "Really? What a boring meet-cute then; you two should have made plans or another meeting, although the fun part about meet-cutes is that sometimes you think you won't see each other again but then you do" he smirked and looked over at her. Never; he was never going to let this one go."Oh well; I'll compare your description of this meet-cute with Corbin and then I'll see where you two stand in this little shenanigan". Der gave her a look, a look that said 'if you are hiding something I will find it' all in good fun though.
