The only thing he had looked forward to living in Maryland was the fresh start. The blank page. The way he could forget everything that had gotten him where he was and just try to remember the good things. But he couldn't. He couldn't forget how he had been wronged time and time again, and how he had suffered for something he had no control over. He took a deep breath, opened his mouth and started. "I had a pretty normal life, you know... Learning to play soccer when I was 4, learning to ride a bike when I was 6, etcetera etcetera. Actually, I was the golden boy in school just up until I turned 11. When I was 11 I had this beautiful girlfriend, her name Rochelle. She was french. I really liked her, she was gorgeous and I had a great time with her and then I met Caleb, he had just moved to Ireland and I got assigned to show him around and stuff. Caleb and I became best friends after that, we just clicked. The years passed and I had a lot of girlfriends; Crissy, Lea, Caroline... They were all so beautiful but... Caleb never had one. Then one day Caleb and I were playing around, wrestling when suddenly he pinned me down. He was lying on top of me and suddenly I felt him get excited down there, I was shocked, purely shocked when he looked deeply into my eyes and he said 'I love you'. I'll never forget because in that moment I knew... I loved him too, and I told him. That day was the first and only kiss I've shared with another boy, and I can't say that it isn't a treasured memory. I loved Caleb I really did. I was 14 and a half at the time." His eyes glistened but no tears fell out, his hands were shaky as he passed them through his hair as he got the courage to continue. "I don't know what happened after that, it's all so blurry. Caleb came out of the closet in school and tried to get me to do the same but I didn't want to. The only guy I loved was him. Then he moved away that summer, I was heart-broken, my best-friend had just left me. In school people didn't see it that way, they thought I was gay too. Which in a way I was but at the same time I wasn't. The bullying started that school year, I was 15. It was normal bullying, manageable and not really hurtful until a homophobic named Ian transferred to our school. I have to say, he was pretty good-looking and a nice enough guy, until he heard the rumors. He was the one that started with the beatings. And well, I already told you the rest. They beat me up, left me in the hospital. Nobody even went there to say Sorry. And we moved here. We arrived a week ago and I'm hoping... I can discover what I am just in case I run into another Ian."
