Valencia and her twin sister, Adelaide were born in Beverley Hills, CA to a wealthy family of three gorgeous daughters and a single son. After spending some time in the high life of Los Angeles, the family decided when the twins were 10, to move out to Ocean City, Maryland for a little change of scenery and a new life. Ever since she was a child, her controlling mother signed her and her sisters up for modeling gigs for local magazines or commercials. She had enjoyed it, loved modeling ever since she was wearing designer clothes as a little toddler, but as she grew older, she realized that her body was not quite like the other girls. While her sisters stayed eternally thin despite all the food they had consumed, Valencia seemed to be gaining weight faster than Adelaide, who she envied for being extraordinarily skinny and beautiful. Though as a kid, she hadn’t realized it, but she had become chubby and slightly overweight.
It was during one of her modeling gigs, at age eleven, where she was first called “fat” by one of her peers. She had become more sensitive about her weight, dieting to keep the weight off and trying to be perfectly skinny as the girls she was surrounded by. Valencia had become a victim in a world of unattainable beauty, where the skinniest models got the jobs, and the constant feeling of constantly having to compete with them. She began to feel inadequate, and focused so much on her outer beauty that she was constantly trying to find reassurance. Valencia felt so inadequate, being born in a family of beauty, that she searched for attention, and sometimes stooping so low as to secretly hooking up with a few boys to feel important. On the inside, she hated herself and developed anorexia nerviosa, starving herself and believing that she was strong by resisting food. Though she had been treated by doctors because of her lovely sister who had helped her through her hard times, Valencia constantly has relapses from her disorder.
On the outside, Valencia is outgoing, fun-loving, and extremely social. She’s the type of girl who likes to go out to parties and constantly keeping busy. Whether it be gossiping with her girls, or dating around with a few boys, Valencia is definitely extroverted. She loves her cheerleading and is definitely the type of person to try the newest moves, or dare to do some stunts. Going shopping and wearing the most fashionable clothes to date are what she lives for, as she’d never get caught out in public in sweats or without makeup on. Superficial, she’s slightly judgmental and won’t be very kind to people of the reject crowd.
Family-wise, Valencia and Adelaide, are very close. Possibly the closest that any people could ever be to each other, best friends and eternally attached at the hip, Valencia trusts her twin with her life, her secrets, and everything in between. As she is struggling from anorexia, her sister constantly checks up on her to see if she is eating and if she is feeling alright, which sometimes set Valencia off, but in the end, she appreciates it.
