Now if that wasn’t worse enough, as she was falling asleep during the meeting about the cheerleading squad’s goals for the oncoming year, she realized some vital – that she ran out of lipgloss. Staring at the empty tube in purse, she almost felt her heart breaking, realizing that after the coffee date with her sister in the mall, she would have to find a new tube as soon as possible, or she could quite literally go insane. In a panic, she searched her purse for what seemed like a fifth time for a spare tube, but alas, she had run out and she had to go through this painfully boring meeting with dry lips – oh, what a tragedy. After nearly nodding off several times, and making a few comments to seem a little more engaged, she couldn’t help the feeling of freedom as she pushed the doors away and hopped into her car. Their parents had gotten Valencia and Adelaide matching new cars for their sixteenth birthday, and when she glanced at the shiny, perfectly glossed convertible, she couldn’t help but smile all over again, like the day she got it. She had an adorable car, and it was a beautiful silver color, and she couldn’t help but feel a little beautiful as she drove down the road with her slightly ostentatious car. As she parked it, she hit the lock button on her keys and headed down towards the Coffee Shop, where she was sure Adelaide was already waiting for her, always the punctual one. Her purse tucked under her arm and walking swiftly on her heels, she opened the glass door and searched the room for the girl she had known all her life. But quickly, their eyes met and she waved at her, Valencia went to join her at the table, where Adelaide was reading one of the fashion magazines that they both adored so much. “Hey Addy,” she greeted her smoothly, pulling out a chair and letting herself relax on it. She crossed one leg over another, leaning forward on the table, intent on making conversation. “Uuuugh, the cheerleading meeting was such a drag,” she moaned, dramatically, rolling her eyes. “And guess what happened? I ran out of lip gloss!” Valencia pulled the magazine towards her, studying the contents of the cover, when she noticed all the bags Adelaide had beside her on the ground. Widening her eyes, she forgot all about the fashion magazine as she looked at all the labels of the bags – BCBG, Juicy Couture, Ralph Lauren, the list could go on – as she instantly felt a squeal rising up in her throat. “Oh my god!” Valencia exclaimed, reaching forward and snagging a bag in her hands. “You have to show me what you got! Did you get those heels we were talking about?” there can be only one mikey! of caution 2.0 |
