Not being able to fight sucked balls. Really hairy ones with warts. Fighting was her life. It was her passion. It kept her from going insane and being the leader of a mass genocide. Everyone had their different ways of dealing with stress and hers was to take the aggressive approach. She was a professional fighter. A frequent attender and judge at competitions. Award winning. Ruthless with an approach similar to a stampeding heard of bulls. Head first and horns sharpened. That was Evan’s approach to just about everything but all that was temporarily on hold and she couldn’t stand it. Fuck it all. All she could do was judge and goddamn she just wanted to hit someone without the threat of ripping her stitches. Soon Evan, soon. Patience wasn’t a virtue she was graced with but so far she was doing all right. So was she was obeying the doctor’s orders. Kind of. Practicing was a given but for the most part she was being good and doing as she was told.
So rather than going to the gym as she usually would on a day like today the redhead went to the beach, having initially gone with a few casual friends who had long since left for their varying responsibilities. Evan chose to stick around to embrace the opportunity to have a serene moment. They weren’t common with her. Moments where she could just sit and think to herself. Where she could ponder the mysteries of life and grow more self aware and figure out aspects of herself she hadn’t really noticed before. To think about how much she’d grown and everything she had faced. Because usually such thoughts led to reminders of the few insecurities that young woman had and she hated thinking of such things. Being reminded of how vulnerable she could be. Nope. Those didn’t matter because she was at the beach in short shorts and half of a shirt with her bikini soaking through her top. Sunscreen slathered on because her skin lived up to the reputation ginger’s all had for burning. Hair in a very messy and loose braid and sunglasses on top of her head and sandals in her hands.
Feeling hot sand between your toes was so deeply therapeutic.
For the time being Evan had simply been walking along the shoreline thinking to herself. The beach was crowded and she honestly couldn’t even guess how many people she had passed and all of this was rather new to her. Back home the beach she had frequented was small and mostly rocky. Not a lot of sand but tons of little water worn stones and shells. She could recall dozens of lazy days lying on towels while her friends covered her legs and arms and back or tummy with shells and stones so she looked like she had scales. Climbing up the rocks and jumping off of them into the water below because fuck safety they all lived dangerously. Every now and then someone else would come along but scarcely were the beached of Cowichan as crowded as this one was. It was weird and she didn’t know if she liked it or not yet.
Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a Frisbee flying past her and while it was nowhere near hitting her it was still startling. However, it was dangerously close to hitting an old couple right in the face. They were one of those hideously adorable old couples with matching Hawaiian shirts and giant sun hats holding hands and helping each other stay upright. The kind of old couple all of the hopeless romantics of the world strived to be. As heartless as Evan could be she just couldn’t bring herself to let this adorable old couple get hit. She ran for it. Caught it. And threw it back. You’re welcome old couple. You’re welcome world.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I KISSED A BOY AND I LIKED IT The Words: 435 The Outfit: clicky The Notes woo friends The day off. Corbin felt like he hadn’t had one of these in a while. He felt like he had been going to work every day, including weekends, since he got back to Ocean City. Sure it was because he had to work on lesson plans and other school related stuff before the new year started and he had started late since he just moved back, but still. This was his first true day off since then. And what was he going to do with it? He was going to go to the beach of course! It was a beautiful day and as much as he hated Ocean City he had missed the beach. The beach in Houston was great and all, but it just wasn’t the Ocean City beach. The water wasn’t as pretty, the sand was more rough, and it always seemed like it was always crowded. Maryland wasn’t a huge tourist destination, especially for the beach, so even though there were always people it never seemed that bad. The water was a crisper blue and the sand was a lot softer to the touch.
Cor had called Der to try and see if he wanted to come and spend the day with him on the beach, but there hadn’t been an answer. He called Molly and she had some work thing that she had to do so he guessed he was hitting the beach all on his lonesome. The beach seemed a bit more crowded than usual, but that wasn’t really a problem. It wasn’t like when he was in college when him and his friends would show up and try to find a place for all of them. No he was just looking for the perfect spot for his skinny butt. Corbin’s eyes scanned the beach, letting his eyes follow the path of a Frisbee and landing on a red headed girl. He smiled when he realized he knew the girl. Evan. She was a fun person to hang out with. In his mind she was like the female version of him and who wouldn’t want to hang out with him?
He made his way towards her with a goofy, but cocky grin. ‘Evan! Long time no see!’ he yelled out at her as he got closer. When he was close enough he stopped, placing his hands on his hips. He sure hoped that she wasn’t here with someone else because if he was alone and she was alone then they could be alone together. It made perfect sense to Cor. ‘What brings you to the beach on this beautiful day?’ |

The beaches back home had always been a lot more rocky than this one save for the scattered ones with the typical rolling sand that was too hot for your feet after sitting under the scalding sun for too long. While Evan was a fan of the nude beach the rocky ones had always been her favorite. Lying across what little sand there was letting her friends cover her arms and legs and back in little pebbles only to ruin their wonderful makeshift scaled so she could jump off of the rocks into the ocean. Growing up on an island had been perfect in Evan’s eyes. There were beaches littered with rocks to jump off of, beaches littered with seals or sea lions—she couldn’t really be sure which they were—and sites of whales and orcas in the distance. The odd time a jellyfish would wash onto the beach. This one wasn’t nearly as nice as back home but it would do. It was something to pass the time with and that was good enough for her.
She kind of missed home and missed throwing Frisbees at the back of her best friends heads when they were being stupid. She missed pushing each other off of rocks and doing just generally stupid and dangerous things that probably wouldn’t be allowed here. Oh well. At least the approaching Corbin would no doubt suffice as a good enough distraction. The last thing she really wanted right now was to start feeling painfully homesick. She had a reputation of being a fiery bitch up uphold, after all. The last thing she needed was people thinking she had even more of a heart than they already assumed. Seeing his grin explode onto his face brought a smile to her own, spinning away fro the direction she had thrown the renegade Frisbee and focusing on him instead. “Corbin!” |
She always had the biggest urge to scream his name like Chris Tucker’s character in the Fifth Element. “I was here with people but they left. Now I’m saving the world one renegade Frisbee at a time. You?” Just like Corbin, Evan hoped he was there alone so they could be alone together. Which would no doubt lead to being alone and naked somewhere. [/div]
