life
born and raised right here in maryland, beverly crawford became accustomed to the goody two-shoes label from early on. being the girl that could capture someone's attention without being loud or boisterous almost came natural to beverly. to some, beverly was stuck-up because she would rather sit in and listen than push and shove to make her opinion heard. throughout elementary school and middle school, beverly was the golden girl. the girl that came from money and was near the only one that didn't flaunt it. though the crawfords came from a long line of wealth and positive reputations, their only image flaw was their son, beverly's brother, mason. mason, sixteen to beverly's thirteen, was the complete opposite of his silver spoon sister. he enjoyed staying out late and partying rather than finishing his studies and work. his reckless lifestyle only headed south in a downward spiral. there was only so much influence that beverly could have on her older brother, and try as she might she knew that things were only getting worse with him.
beverly was first introduced to cheerleading in the sixth grade, when her group of friends encouraged her to try out with them. as a kid up until the age of about seven or so, beverly had been enrolled in many dance and gymnastics classes, but never really saw either going anywhere. with her already athletic ability, beverly was the perfect fit for the small middle school team. she enjoyed the friendships formed on her team and the ambition it brought out in her. beverly, more than ever, noticed a drive that hadn't seemed to come out beforehand. she wanted to win and she wanted to be the best she could be.
high school was a completely different playing field. going from her small middle school to a much bigger high school was slightly intimidating, but beverly was charismatic and outgoing enough to find her place. although there was always a spot for her with the royals, beverly seemed to find friends in all kinds of different cliques. she could talk classwork with the nerds, bring out conversation in the wallflowers, be friendly toward the loners and invite them places. she didn't really fit in one category, and she liked it that way. when beverly was fifteen, one of her mother's friends heavily encouraged her to enter in a local pageant, in which beverly was crowned and awarded the title. finding her knack in pageantry, beverly decided she would go big or go home when she next entered the teen miss maryland usa pageant at sixteen years old. although this pageant was much more grueling, and she was competing against girls that had been working for this their entire life, beverly was stunned to be crowned with the title. with pageants, she supported many causes, attended handfuls of charity benefits and spent time volunteering at schools and nursing homes. she loved being teen miss maryland usa, but she knew that with that title came dedication to compete in the miss teen usa competition. during the time before, she trained harder than she had ever trained and prepared everything that she could to win. her hard work paid off, but not completely when beverly was awarded first runner up during the competition.
the night that beverly competed in teen miss usa, she received a call from her mother saying that mason was in the hospital unconscious: he had fallen while doing heroin and was on life support. from that night on, beverly's life changed forever. it had taken only a few short hours after she had seen her brother for the last time for him to slip away. she was destroyed, but she knew she had to stay strong for him. mason passed away at the young age of twenty.
now, beverly spends a lot of her free time supporting drug awareness and volunteering with troubled teens. she also is a freshman at the local university, studying communications and public relations. though beverly proclaims herself "retired from pageants", her beauty queen personality is still that that it has always been.
roleplaying sample
The room was smokey and dark, crowded. What time was it? Quinn blinked down at her phone, unable to hold her eyes open fully. Late, she knew that much. She was never a party girl, never the kind of her girl to walk outside her comfort zone.. at least, not this far. Aaron Parks was really something else. If she would have been a little more outspoken, put her foot down a little harder (or even at all for that matter), maybe she wouldn't be in this situation. Of course, the seventeen year old girl she was, Quinn was hopeless. Hopeless for Aaron, as cliche as that sounds. It was almost like a Romeo and Juliet scene, except the fact that the feeling was doubted on the other end. Not that Quinn didn't believe that Aaron liked her, because he had told her countless times to assure her before she gave herself to him that night, she just knew the kind of person he was. Vain. Self-absorbed. He would choose his party lifestyle over her in a mere moment if the option had surfaced. So why was she even bothering with the likes of him? Was she smitten like a little child by his charm and good looks? Did the fact that he was rough and tough and popular in oppose to her shy, wallflower attitude drive her crazy (in the best way possible)? Whatever it was, Quinn knew that she was doing a hell of a lot to convince him that she was worth it.
"I've been looking for you for thirty minutes, Quinn, where have you been?" Ian Samuels called out, finding Quinn running her thumb along the ruffles of her red solo cup. Ian. He was a good friend. Her attention suddenly drew north to make eye contact with the worried boy. "Here." She replied with a small shrug.
