this guy here is holden william cain-hawthorne. i know what you're thinking - why the hyphen and the two last names? truth here is that little holden was adopted by the hawthorne family. in fact, he was adopted at the sweet age of twelve. he grew up a moderately happy kid, in a household that had enough money to sustain him nicely but not an overflow of the amount. the cain's had many friends, but they're closest friends were those of the hawthorne's. they'd continually go out and spend days together and eat dinner together, much to holden's disgust. he'd never really liked roman hawthorne. always too snarky for his own good. but his whole life changed one saturday evening. he'd been at a friends house, being a general nuisance and breaking toys, and was eventually kicked out by the kid's unhappy mother. with a great amount of reluctance, he'd sprinted home. you see, mr. cain had a job as a biochemist. he'd been testing some stuff out in the labs - a new type of pesticide that wasn't yet perfected and very deadly - and he'd taken some home to work on over the weekend. the thing had a crack in it, and one thing lead to another - and their whole apartment was filled with the stuff. as they were dying, mr and mrs cain had managed to call the police - to tell them what was happening, but they died shortly after. that was around the time holden came home. he was confused, to say the least, and then horrified to find that his parents were dead. he was pulled out of the house though, after several minutes, by the police who were aware of the situation and had arrived on the scene. turns out mr and mrs cain had been inhaling the stuff for a solid twenty minutes before they'd passed, and holden was lucky - he'd only been inhaling the stuff for about ten minutes. but as he found out later, he developed a sickness. they're not so sure as to what it is, as of yet, but it's a terminal illness. which means, yes, he'll die. the doctors gave him around ten years to live, which means holden will only live until the age of twenty two. holden was then adopted by the hawthorne's, and here he is six years later. originally, from coming into high school, holden was a natural favorite. he was naturally charming, and he always knew what to say at the appropriate time. he quickly ascended the ladder, making friends as he went. his lust for power was, of course, prominent. and he quickly tried to woo the heart of the past head bitch of manchester academy. his tries were refuted until finally, once, she gave in. when she found out, though, that he was only using her for status, he was cascaded down the chain to the very bottom. transformed with age, and with his illness, holden's someone you'll want to look out for. he's brilliantly intelligent, maniacal, and incredibly charming; despite his less desirable attributes. he's not short of giving up, either. he doesn't have many friends, as he's very manipulative, but he values his "brother", roman, as an asset. pretty much, he's a big fucking douchebag.
