my ecstasy ,finally. things were empty and he could leave the damn place. with a tired exhale, gabe ran a damp cloth over the bartop one more time. it was only him and some waitress left to close. typically, gabriel enjoyed his job as a bartender, but some nights, all he really wanted was to do something fun outside of work. getting hit on or called to like a slave got old after a while, though the former was definitely not something he would complain about. okay, maybe he would, considering half of the girls weren't up to his standards. plus, gabe had never been the most gentle at letting girls down. he tossed the rag into the sink behind the counter and stepped out from behind it, peering around the nearly empty nightclub for the other waitress. "night. make sure to lock up." gabriel slipped out of a back exit to the nightclub, sipping on the remnants of a warm beer he had gotten himself an hour ago. he wasn't supposed to drink while bartending, but gabriel was a bit more capable than handling a beer and not fucking up drinks. he slipped into his car, twisting his neck to the side to stretch out the sore muscles on his shoulder.
halfway near his home, gabe made a different turn in the subconscious of his mind. he had decided to head to his girlfriend's house instead. perhaps she could bring him out of the grumpy soreness he was experiencing - she always had a knack for that. or pissing him off even more. gabe pulled into the driveway of the kessler household, and made his way up the familiar path to her door, pushing a thumb into the doorbell and leaning up against the wall tiredly.

One of the things that Hayley Kessler liked the most about summer time was the amount of free time she had. During the school year, she was always preoccupied by something, whether it be homework, cheerleading practice, or other extracurriculars. By the time she was done, all she wished for was her bed because she felt eager to rest and sleep before repeating the cycle. Since school had let out, she was able to do whatever she pleased even at unreasonable hours. It made her sleeping schedule somewhat erratic, but that didn't seem to matter when she didn't have to get up early and risk spending an entire day looking like an unattractive mess with bags under her eyes and sloppily styled hair. Tonight was another one of those times when she stayed up even though her parents had gone to bed hours ago. She didn't have anything productive in mind and ended up curled on the couch, snuggled beneath a cotton blanket as she watched a silly movie. The only light came from the television set, and in the midst of the nighttime silence, the muted sounds coming from the movie scenes and the cool breeze escaping from the vents of her air conditioner seemed much louder.
Shifting so she sat more comfortably, the blonde wondered if maybe it was time to head off to bed. She was beginning to feel drowsy, but the sudden chime of her doorbell resonating through her house awakened her senses. Who would possibly visit at this hour? Wrapping the blanket over her shoulders, she headed to a window to peek out through the blinds. The sight of a familiar looking car in her driveway answered her question, and she hastened towards the front door, quickly pulling it open. Leaning against the doorway, she couldn't fight off the smile that had formed on her lips when she saw her boyfriend leaning against the wall, looking quite exhausted. "Gabe! What are you doing here so late?"
