alex was in a happy mood as he always was, a nice swift attitude in his step, even though the day had been grueling. he was making his way to the band room, he was just looking to relieve himself with his guitar. he had been thinking of starting up a group, or band rather. all he needed now was a back up singer. with his luck he would find one, if not they usually weren't necessary.
but when he made it to the door, he remembered that the handle was only from the outside, strange door it was. usually it was propped open, but it wasn't today, considering the fact it was after school the teacher had probably left. but nonetheless he snuck himself inside. and once in he had found himself a chair. he unzipped his guitar and thought up the song he was writing in his head in class today. and once he got comfortable, he began strumming and playing, losing focus of the surroundings.
anyone could be standing around listening or watching, he was too focused to care really.

Sure it was a safe haven from the silence that echoed through her house, but as she walked through the halls she couldn’t help but feel as if everyone was whispering about her. She knew that that wasn’t really the case since she was pretty sure most had moved on from the accusations against her of being a total whore. When she walked past her old so called friends though she felt like she was a prisoner who couldn’t do anything more than look down and walk by quickly.
Being there after school hours was a different story though. It was the exact escape that she knew she needed. It wasn’t as if she really had anything to do when she was there. Most days she snuck into the back of the auditorium and did her homework as the theater kids practiced for whatever play they were currently working on. Then there were the days where she snuck up onto the roof like Bruce had taught her. And then there were days like today where she just ended up aimlessly wandering around the huge, confusing school. It wasn’t like she ever found anything interesting, but it was a lot better than going home.
Jaylee found herself making her way back to where all of the music rooms were. She didn’t know why, but for some reason she was drawn there. Maybe she would see if one of the practice rooms was empty and play piano or something. She hadn’t really touched either of her instruments at home lately, mostly because she didn’t feel like she could break the silence. Oh the joys of parents going through a nasty divorce. Jay spotted an empty practice room and let a small smile cross her lips, not something that she had been letting happen often lately. She made her way towards it until her ears picked up on the faint sound of a guitar. Without question she made her way towards the noise to see the door to the band room slightly propped open. She hesitantly grabbed the door and opened it enough for her to get through, curious as to who else had a similar idea to her own.
She couldn’t help but smile and shake her head when she saw who it was. She softly let the door close behind her and leaned against the wall, just letting the notes hit her ears. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, now regretting that she hadn’t touched her own guitar since her mother had been kicked out. She had forgotten how much music soothed her. When it seemed as if the song was finished, or at least he was paused, she made her way closer to him. ‘You’re pretty good.’ Jay crossed her arms across her chest and shifted her weight from one foot to the other, biting her lower lip. ‘How long have you been playing?’ | [atrb=width,140]words ,502 tagged ,alex outfit ,clickynotes ,...... | [cs=2] |

alex played his guitar with precision and skill, he liked to do this on his spare time. it was soothing really, he calmed him, or atleast kept him this calm. he never really got crazy loud or anything like that unless he was drunk or something. but that one time with jay was a different story. but that was beside the point, he was focused on his guitar playing. he was playing a song that he was writing, kind of for his band that he was starting up.
as he was finishing up the song, he looked up to see jay standing there, looking all sorta mad. he decided not to prod at her emotions, she seemed to be going through alot, with that joke of a gossip blog that everyone followed. so he finished his song and was now only holding the guitar on his lap. he smiled at her compliment, knowing that he wasn't that good, but he'll take it.
"thanks, ive been playing about.... five odd years now?" he said as he looked up to her, she didn't look like her usual self, so his curiosity would kill him. "why the long face?" he asked with concern, he could see it in her that she was sad, from the moment he saw her look at the computer screen in the country club.

As much as she loved standing she would much rather be sitting. Although sitting meant that she was going to be there for longer than a minute or two. She didn’t know if she wanted to be there longer than a minute or two. Well she was already sitting so she guessed she didn’t have much of a choice. It was a little weird to her to be hanging out with him in this situation since they had only hung out once outside of their normal area and Jay didn’t even remember that. She had been totally drunk and the next day didn’t remember anything. So technically according to her memories this was the first time she was really hanging out with him.
‘You’re welcome.’ Jay gave a small nod. ‘That’s pretty cool.’ Jay debated on whether bringing up that she played or not but then decided against it. She really didn’t feel like bringing that up. Sure it was an appropriate time to bring it up, but she just didn’t feel like it. She blamed the divorce. It really had messed her up. It changed how she was. Sometimes she felt like even though she put on a face it wasn’t that hard to break through. She used to be good at covering up everything, but this was just too much. She could tell that on that day she especially was bad about hiding everything from Alex’s question. She sighed at the question not knowing what to say.
‘Just…lot’s is going on in my life.’ Her mind raced with everything that had been going on. No there was no way she was going to blurt it all out. She barely told Jaxton about this and he had been her best friend since they were kids. He only knew because well her parents were like his parents so he deserved. No she would keep it all inside like she always did. It was a bad habit sure, but she had issues trusting people. And could you blame her, every time it did, it all seemed to blow up in her face. | [atrb=width,140]words ,364 tagged ,alex outfit ,clickynotes ,...... | [cs=2] |

He watched her lazily as she sat down, on the floor rather, and it slightl reminded him of that one night she had with him. laying on a couch to avoid the police, it was a weird night, the one he only had a recollection of, as she was dead drunk and he was completely sober. in fact, she was so drunk that she actually laid on him, it was a bit sad to know that it might not happen again. she just seemed to be all up on that stupid ladder of social status.
but he knew about the whole situation about her taking a tumble down this retarded ladder. he really didn't care about it, well he cared about the fact that she'd been crushed with all that fake information about her sleeping around with him and three other guys, it was all so sick and unrealistic. who would do that, completely crush somebody's dreams, to his knowledge, without this popularity, getting into a badass college was out of question, and it might have had something to do with him.
oh well, she would have to move on, you get knocked down? you get back up again, and nothing will stop you from doing it again. but he kpet quiet as she did, and when she spoke again, he only nodded, understanding her pain, atleast his was swift as he would be sharp tongued and he got kicked to the bottom at year one.now three years later, he still didn't care. "oh don't worry about it, bumpy roads even out sooner or later." he sighed and picked up his guitar again, playing a melancholy chord "and if you need somebody to talk to, i know you have jax, but im here for you too." he continued to ramble on, he didn't know why, maybe it was his inner song writer. "and they say," playing another chord "the more people that know about your problems, the small the problem seems."
he felt like an idiot rambling on like that, but it was his job, he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but when it came to life, he was quite experienced, he had been through some tough times as well, even if she didn't know, he never really got that deep into a conversation to tell anybody.

She doubted Alex wanted to hear all about her life and why it was falling apart. Sure he listened to her whenever she was at the country club, but she was pretty sure it was because it was part of his job. No, she was going to try and not whine about everything that was going on. Although by her demeanor something obviously was wrong. She figured that Alex assumed that it was just about the entire social ladder thing. Sure she hated how she had been completely alienated because of rumors that weren’t true, and she probably lost her connections into Harvard, but that was the least of her problems. As much as that kept weighing on her mind she knew with her grades, gpa, ACT score, and the fact that her dad was an alumni she still had a chance again. Her family life was what really was getting her down, but it was just easier to focus on the less meaningful problems than the real ones.
She forced a smile towards his comment. She knew he was right, but for now she couldn’t even begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The notes hit her ears as he strummed them on his guitar and her fingers longed to wrap around the neck of her own and let her other hand lazily strum the cords. Not here though. When she got home tonight though. She would lock herself in the basement, lay on the ground, and play whatever came to her mind. At least it would make the house seem less silent. Jay looked up at him as he told her that if she needed someone to talk to he would listen. So maybe all those times at the country club weren’t just because of obligation. Maybe the two were friends on some strange level. ‘Thanks Alex.’
Her mind fought back and forth on whether to spill her guts right then and there. She had been doing such a great job of just keeping the whole thing hidden from everybody except for Jax. The part of her that didn’t trust anyone told her to just nod along and thank him for offering, but she would be fine while a tiny part of her was telling her to just take a chance and trust the guy. Somehow that tiny part of her won out. ‘My mom cheated on my dad. Apparently it’s been going on for almost a year now. I had suspected it a few weeks ago but wasn’t for sure.’ Jay took a deep breath, biting her inner lip refusing to let any emotion take over while she recounted the story. Jaylee Lyric Ralston did not cry no matter what the circumstances. ‘My dad found out and they had this big blow out fight. Kicked my mom out. All of her stuff is gone. And he’s now in Milan or something on business and I’m left to this huge house by myself with this tense silence that hangs over it. I’m one hundred percent sure they are going to get divorced and I’m going to have to pick a side.’ That was the part she was dreading the most. Not the divorce itself, not even being home alone like she was now, but picking sides. How was she was supposed to pick between her mom and dad who had never done anything but love and support her? Her fingers itched even more to run across a guitar. It would most certainly calm her and before she knew it her hand was outstretched reaching for Alex’s guitar with a look on her face asking if she could play. | [atrb=width,140]words ,631 tagged ,alex outfit ,clickynotes ,...... | [cs=2] |

When she thanked him, he only brushed it off, she couldn't be serious. all he was doing was offering help, although nobody ever asked for his help, was he that unhelpful? he didn't really feel like he was helpful, just the prick that didn't care about life. he had some decency though, he didn't smoke, and he was in good relations with his parents. he didn't smoke, or do any drugs, but for some reason, everyone hated him. oh well, he didn't give a damn, he was living his life, and whoever stood in the way, better get out of it.
the silence was killing him, but he knew she needed it. and when she began to spill, he felt that slightly it was his fault, he did kind of force it out of her, even though he didn't want to, what was his problem. and he heard the story, took it apart, and tryed to think of something to say, he would say something like 'bummer' or like 'oh sorry to hear' but that wouldn't help much now would it? he just sighed softly, playing a sad set of cords, his guitar talking for him. but when he looked back to her to see if she was crying or anything, her hands were all outstretched, and reaching for his guitar.
he couldn't resist the face she gave, and the situation she was in, he had to give it to her, so he did. he let the warm wood slip from his fingers, and into her hands. he smiled to her, rotating in his chair to face her. "dont break it, it was expensive" he said with a wink. he knew that it was a cruel joke, but he wanted to move on the topic of discussion, it was never a good idea to dwell in the past, but he knew she was hit hard, and he could try and tone down his attitude a bit.
but he couldn't help but wonder, was she just like him, finding safety in music, or guitar strings rather. maybe they did have things in common, because the country club was always a joke, them messing around as she annoyed him at work. although he didn't mind her presence, in fact, come to think of it, he slightly liked it.

If you would have told her a week prior that she would be sitting here with Alex blabbering on about what was going on in her life she would have laughed. She didn’t usually tell people about her life so why in the world would she tell someone about her problems who she had only talked to a few times and the conversations were nothing more than small talk. But here she was, telling him about what happened. Of course not in as much detail as she had told Jax, but there was a difference between the boys being that Jax was basically her brother and her parents had unofficially adopted him. So Alex knew the important stuff and that was what mattered. It mattered that she even told him. That meant that then on some level she trusted the boy. She didn’t know when she had gained this trust towards him, but somewhere between just asking him for the next raspberry lemonade and him teasing her about whatever school thing she was procrastinating she had started to trust the boy. Weird.
Jaylee was a little surprised that he even gave her his guitar. She knew how she felt about her guitar and if someone reached out for it, no matter the circumstances, she didn’t know if she would give it over without knowing if they played or not already. She took the guitar into her hands, instantly feeling a bit better and rolling her eyes at his comment. ‘Oh I won’t. I’ll just make it all out of tune and what not. Because ya know I’ve never touched a guitar ever.’ She let a smirk slide on her face. This was familiar territory. Joking around with the boy and making fun of the other. That’s all she needed in her life right now, familiarity. Jay took a deep breath and let her fingers start strumming over the cords. She honestly was just letting her fingers do as they pleased and wasn’t putting much thought into the notes the left the guitar. She was soon lost in the music and had forgotten that she was still in school and this wasn’t even her guitar. | [atrb=width,140]words ,372 tagged ,alex outfit ,clickynotes ,...... | [cs=2] |

the wierd thing he realized he was in, the situation rather. he didn't know it if she was really trusting him with this situation. in reality, or in public, he probably would have just ignored her and tried to fool around with her. but this situation was different, he didn't know why. probably the reason she just spit it out like that, was the fact that she was bottling it up. sure the strategy worked for the short term, but by the way she said it, it was almost like she wanted to get it off her shoulder. he respected that. but another thing he wasn't expecting, was a joke. he could only grin slightly, chuckling at her joke, knowing it was a lie.
"wonderful..." he laughed as she began to play, but he shut up when she did, letting her have her time on the guitar. whatever joke she made about having a bad musical ability, he completely brushed aside now, she was talented. he didn't really say anything or want to, but when he got his chance, or at least he thought he did, he just smiled out, looking toward the door, seeing it was still open, she might have gotten some fans by now "Doesn't sound out of tune for me..." he grinned and had now moved to sit next to her, and at the same level of elevation. he could only smile as he looked to her, wondering what she was thinking, probably something else than him, he wasn't worth thinking about, nothing to like about him, but who knows.
