life
Alistair and Lara met the second day of school in English class and clashed as opposed to clicked. Alistair had already made a lot of friends in the short time he'd been at Manchester Prep and Lara was the polar opposite. Shy and decidedly meek with dark brown, mousy hair, she was minding her own business to take notes feverishly, only to be distracted by a giggling bunch of boys with Alistair elected as their unofficial leader. Thoroughly ruffled and as prim and proper as her mother, Lara spent the rest of the lesson with a scowl on her face and her shoulders squared, standing as the bell rang to signal the end of the lesson to shoot the boys a clearly unimpressed look as she stormed off. Of course, Alistair thought her reaction was hysterically funny and he became quickly interested in her. The giggles and the distracting of the poor girl went on until their Junior year when Lara finally lost her temper and decided to confront Alistair.
After chemistry class one Tuesday morning, she decided to pull him from the group and into a secluded little alcove before asking him what his problem with her was because she was very much involved with studying for her exams and asked if he'd kindly leave her alone. All he could do was to laugh and comment about how cute she looked when her ire was raised. Lara promptly fell silent and blushed, reacting as any normal teenage girl was and giggled and Alistair took the opportunity to kiss her. Confused and thoroughly flustered, she didn't know how to react and so, she dropped the books she was carrying and slapped him. Lara hadn't really had any proper interaction with boys that way until now but decided she liked it and pulled him back in for another kiss.
Soon after, they began dating. Even though they had the occasion fight because they didn't quite understand how the other worked, the relationship went from strength to strength and they dated through their senior and after graduation. Both teenagers only lived half an hour away from each other and so, were able to see each other every weekend and were happy. Alistair worked with his father for the summer in his bakery, learning the trade for a year before starting to work at a legal practice as a secretary, keeping in contact with Lara as much as he could as she was training to be a doctor and when he turned twenty one, he decided that five years of dating were long enough and he decided that he'd really rather spend his life with the girl. Getting all dressed up and sending a mysterious note to his girlfriend, he took Lara to dinner at her favourite restaurant, holding her hand on a pleasant walk on a summer night before heading to the waterfront. Waiting for the sunset, Lara had no idea what he was planning until he dropped to his knee with a smile and asked her to be his wife. Squealing, she proceeded to clap her hands over her mouth before accepting.
James was born to Alistair and Lara a year into their marriage and his childhood was a happy one. Both of his parents' jobs were busy, what with his dad a lawyer and his mum a doctor but they always found time to sit and play with him. When he was a toddler, his grandparents had given him a toy keyboard as a gift but they didn't expect him to really do anything with it but oh, on the contrary! He loved it. He played for hours, just absently bashing about on the keys until his dad noticed that he was starting to get better and better at it and he was far more advanced than a regular three year old.
Working long days, it was always tricky to keep little James occupied until Alistair had the bright idea of hiring a piano tutor for him on weekends. James took to the piano like a duck to water, often begging his tutor to stay longer than the allotted two hours. Within a matter of months, he was able to play rather complicated pieces of music as well as making tentative steps to writing his own.
In addition to playing piano, James was also a keen fencer. Alistair, his father, had been part of Team USA's fencing team and he'd won a silver medal at the Sydney Olympics for his sport. James had tried it once, his dad thought it was funny but he soon stopped laughing as his son had beaten his coach. James has been fencing for years and training hard and his dad hopes that he might be able to take part in the Olympics in Rio de Janiero in 2016. He joined a club and has been training four nights a week, becoming more and more impassioned. Ever since his dad had mentioned the prospect of representing his country, that was all he could think about.
James continued to play when he enrolled at Manchester Prep. James' school life had always been good; he was kind, he was conscientious, he was smart and most of all, he was sociable. Though not labelled as an extrovert, he wasn't the shy and retiring type and quickly gained himself many friends.
Despite playing the piano to a ridiculously high standard, in his junior year, he soon discovered his talent for soccer, finding himself geared towards the striker position. With his new team, he found himself welcomed by some of the more popular of his class mates. Although still not as charismatic and attractive as his team mates, James found that some of the girls would smile at him when he walked down the halls and to his locker and he had to say, he rather liked the attention.
