as far as nicky was concerned growing up in maryland was boring and uneventful. sure it was fun living near the beach but she wanted to live somewhere more exciting and alive. she spent a majority of her teen life working at her parents bakery but whenever she wasn't stuck at work she was out looking for an adventure. nicky was a wild child that could not be tamed and she had big plans for herself. the first step was finding a way out of her boring state and to get herself to where the real party was. she received a full scholarship to new york university and graduated with a degree in business. luckily enough it didn't take her long to find a job and when she did she excelled at it. nicky was moving up the business ladder faster than any other employee ever had. she was so busy with her new life that she rarely ever even thought of home let alone visit. on her twenty-third birthday her fiancee of a year proposed to her and they made plans on having a huge wedding. he was also in the business world and couldn't help but admire her work ethic. but not too long after that her mother ended up having a heart attack which in turn killed her. nicky was devastated not fully grasping the situation, all she could think about was how she was too busy living her life to even think about the people she had left behind. coming home for the funeral was the hardest and she ended up staying for a few weeks. when she went back to work and back to new york all she could think about was her father and how he was going to run the bakery alone. then impulsively she quit her job and decided that she was going to move back home. unfortunately her fiancee didn't agree with her decision and thought she was throwing her life away. but she didn't see it that way she saw it as a way to make sure that she helped her father all she could not wanting to lose another parent at an early age. her fiancee broke up with her which only made the move an easier move for her because she didn't want to see him again. now back in maryland shes working hard to help the bakery stay afloat but her mind always wonders to new york and what her life could have been like if she had decided to stay.
