It had been a week since Alani had had her conversation with Der about the kiss. Two weeks since the kiss had actually happened. The whole thing seemed like a dream. She kissed the man, he kissed her back and then she didn’t talk to him for a week. Then they talked on the school chat. That really was when things started to happen. Somehow the man had convinced her to admit her crush on him. As much as she had hated it then she was happy about it because it got it where she was now. Literally the next day he texted her and was asking her on a date. As much as she loved that she also felt a lot of pressure from this date. Der quit his job just so he could take her on this date to see if this would even work. She was really trying to not let that thought enter her mind, but she knew that she could have messed up a source of income for him just so they could try this out.
The fact that she had never been on a date and there was a lot riding on this date, Alani had gone out and actually bought brand new clothes just for this. She just wanted to impress him and the entire night to be perfect. Alani was pacing in the living room waiting for him to arrive. When the doorbell rang her eyes went wide and she could feel her heart rate pick up. She made her way to the door, taking a deep breath before opening the door. She was glad her parents weren’t home so they couldn’t ask questions. She didn’t want them to know until she knew exactly what this was. She smiled when she opened the door, extremely happy to see him even if she was nervous. ‘Hey Der.’ She walked out, closing and locking the door behind her. She had the urge to kiss him again, but this was the start of the date and she knew they needed to take it slow. Figure things out before doing the kissing thing again. |

He felt his heart beating fast, eyes looking around as he waited for the red light to shift to the emerald one that would allow him to continue his path. It had all been so sudden, it almost seemed like a hazy dream. One moment he had been talking to her about leaving everything behind and the next he was sending his letter of resignation to Manchester. Holy shit he had actually resigned; he had done that. His mind had started processing the entire thing when the repetitive sound of a honk made him blink a few times to see now he was allowed to move his car and people behind him were waiting for him to do so. In one quick movement he was driving away. Eyes fixed on the road while he did his best not to second guess this because that was usually when he ended up ruining the entire thing. He needed to just think positive and enjoy his time with her which he hoped was going to go smoothly. When he moved the car to the right he realized he had managed to arrive at her house. He suddenly felt even more nervous; although his body continued to move as he got out of the car, moving to walk to the front door and then his finger pushed the doorbell without hesitation. At least his body was reacting before his mind was having an internal battle. Derrick needed to push all those thoughts and ideas away, he needed to learn how to push it all aside and focus on what he was about to do. You are just about to go on a date with your former student... his brain said and he mentally cursed. Why did he decided to listen to his brain? It never seemed to be of much use when it came to the relationship subject.
What if this didn't worked out? What if he had just quit his job and then she would realized she liked someone who was not really that worth her time? It was thoughts like those that often cost him his relationships. While most of them ended because the significant other left, instead of him leaving them he found the same pattern all the time. Stop it Romanov] he said to himself as he glance down at himself. The glanced around the place, even with his eyes shielded behind the sunglasses he could still feel the sting of the glare coming from some windows. One might say his eyes were delightful, but man was it hard for him to go out without a pair of sunglasses near by. Sensibility, that's the price to pay for having his eyes and he didn't quite like it. He wasn't even sure if they were even worth it at times. There was little time for him to complain about the sunlight in his mind because the door slipped open; he turned to look at the person standing before him and without a second through he smiled a little. "Hey Alani" he said back to her as he took step back to allow her to come out and actually lock the door. His eyes remained on her, because a) he was happy to see her and b) she looked beautiful. Awkwardly enough, he felt his heart beating slower as soon as he saw her; they could live through this, they always talked to each other, why should this be any different?
Derrick waited until she was facing him again and he leaned down and kissed her cheek, his mind yelling that he should have kissed her lips but he didn't wanted to rush this. "I really think you'll like the convention" he said with a nod of his head before turning so they could head to his car. "I went last year and it was great" he was not going to address any type of comment that spoke about him quitting his job, or about her being her former student or her being ten years younger than him. It was then that he felt rather happy that he didn't look his age because it allowed the entire thing to look more normal than it actually was. He smiled a little, then once he had reached his car he opened the door for her. He was going to act like the gentleman his mother had raised, sure he could be cocky and arrogant from time to time, but in reality he was a nice person. Not someone who would feel like they are actually better than the rest of the world. He wanted to show her that, although he also sort of hoped that she would already know that. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT IN LOVE The Words: six nine eight The Outfit: click The Corbin Commentary wrong place dummie Hearing him say her name washed most of her nerves away. This was just Der. She had talked to him before. It wasn’t like she had never said a word to the man before this very moment. Yes, things were going to be fine and she could tell that all from him saying her name. Of course she was going to have to push all thoughts of him being her former teacher out of her mind if she really wanted all the nerves to go away. She just knew that he quit his job just for her and well if things didn’t work out it was her fault that he didn’t have a job. This thought brought a lot of her nerves back and she had to try hard not to hyperventilate. She bit her tongue and told herself to calm down. Everything was going to be all right. She was just going on a date. Her first date. With her teacher. Wait, no former teacher. Who was ten years older than her. And incredibly attractive. She could hardly believe that her very first date was about to be with someone who was older than her oldest brother. The age thing didn’t matter much to her, it was just a little weird to think of. Not weird in a bad way, but weird in an oh that’s interesting way. Der probably had been on tons of dates before. She was sure he had kissed tons of girls before. He was a jock in high school after all. So this was nothing too new to him. So she was probably the only one freaking out. She just wanted it all to be perfect. There was something about this guy that just made her smile and get insane butterflies but feel calm at the same time. She could not let herself mess this up.
Her cheek burned where his lips had just been. Did he just kiss her cheek? Did that just happen? Is this real life? She could feel the corners of her mouth tug into a smile though. She had it bad for this guy and she really didn’t realize it until this moment. Ok she had started to realize it when she kissed him because that was so out of the norm, but standing here, about to go on a date with him, she couldn’t deny how strongly she felt about him. Nothing insane like she loved him, no, but she did care about him greatly. She found herself extremely glad that he quit his job so that they could go on this date. She felt a small part of her whispering to herself that everything was going to be fine and it was going to work out she just needed to be calm and be herself. ‘Ya it sounds really awesome.’ She followed him to the car with a small smile. All trace of nerves gone. She really could just be her around him. ‘Did you go with anybody last year?’ Why in the world would she ask that? Of course he went with somebody. You don’t go to conventions alone. The real question was with who. But did she really want to know the answer to that? No, not really.
As he opened her car door she couldn’t help but wonder how many guys her own age would do that. The number zero quickly came to mind. Sure there were sweet guys at her school, at least she figured since she hadn’t started going yet, but chivalry was dead in her generation no matter how sad that was. She got in the car smiling at him as he closed the door behind her and putting on her seatbelt. ‘So how far is it from here?’ The strange urge to jump on top of him and start making out like in those teen films overcame her, but she quickly suppressed it. No, there would be none of that. ‘And what exactly should I be expecting to see at this book convention?’ Sure she had read the description, but it didn’t give much detail. She figured Der would know better anyways since he went the previous year. |

Not to say that his previews dates were rushed or lame, but to be honest there was something that felt different about this one and he couldn't quite put his finger on what made it so. His mind was trying to figure that one out while also not trying o get too distracted because he needed to still pay attention to her and her words. Even so, he couldn't help but thing that at least he had managed to get here in one piece and not end up running away like how he had done in the past when he was younger. His mind should not travel back to his past failed relationships because it would only get him down and take him down a road that could easily lead to disaster. Derrick might be the guy with all the confidence in the world; he could joke and have jokes thrown his way and he could easily take the punches. He would brag and he would live his life to the fullest; however, touch the subject of relationships and he runs away like a scary little cat. It wasn't always like that, but it was probably due to the fact that he tended not to be very good when it came to getting to know the other person. He was always nice, he was always a perfect gentleman but more often that not, his job tended to take a toll on him and so every girl he ever dated ended up saying he was cold, distant and just not interested on them. It was not at all true, he just wasn't very smart when it came to relationships, as much as he wanted to deny it he knew that was true; which was the reason he didn't wanted to mess this one up. He needed to make this work because he really liked this girl, it caught him by surprise to suddenly realize about it; he had not expected it and he would have never guessed it if she had not kissed him. It would have ended with him thinking she was a great student and a rather special person but that would have been it.
When she responded he smiled, it was good to see that even when they had been through some really awkward moment before she was able to speak to him. The guy had been worried, yes, because if she was unable to move away from the fact that they had kissed suddenly at his house, that he had been her teacher not more than a few days ago and that he had given up his job to give this little thing a try. Actually, he wouldn't blame her if all that was running through his mind because it was certainly rushing through his mind as well. By now he wasn't sure what was causing him to feel more worried about this; if the fact that he was just freaking terrible at the relationship area, or the fact that he was worried about all the things that had happened for this date to become a reality; or a possibility even. Most people would wonder if he did a smart thing, he knew that very well but then again Derrick had always been a man of impulse, he didn't exactly cared much about his money even when he had a kid but that was mostly because he had three sources of income; even now that he had dropped his job at Manchester he still had three. His job at College, his job at the magazine and he was more than sure than when his father retired he would inherit the company which would just help him have another job. So yes, money was not a problem for Derrick Romanov and despite common believe he actually made sure to have enough money for what needed to be done. Then when he saw that he had a few extra bucks he would just use them to have fun with them one way or another.
The guy smiled as she asked that question but he closed the door and moved around the car, deciding to answer the question once he was inside it. "Well, I went with a friend, she was supposed to speak in the convention so, I decided to go, give some moral support" he said with a chuckle before slipping on the seat belt and starting the car. He smoothly moved out of the drive way and continued down the road. "It's actually not that far away" Derrick said as he continued to drive; he moved to roll down the window on his side, setting his elbow there as he used his other hand to move the wheel. "Some writers talk about the books, other take questions" he explained. "There are some street performers here and there; which is actually one of the most interesting thing about the event" Der glanced at her, his eyes looking through the brown glass of his sunglasses. A boyish smirk on his lips as he continued to drive. He really liked driving, it helped him calm down his beating heart. "There are also some stands with some activities, but I am not sure what those are going to be like" he finished with a slight shrug of his shoulders. "You'll like it though, I am sure you will" he turned to look at her, a smile on his lips before he looked back at the road. There were pretty close now and he knew they will be arriving soon. Like he said, it really wasn't that far away from her house. Suddenly the thought of her house made him think about her parents; he wondered if she had told them about this, about him. Probably not. He wasn't sure how good or bad that was, but he guessed at one point or the other if they wanted this to work and move forward, he was going to have to meet her parents. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT IN LOVE The Words: four eight four The Outfit: click The Mae Says bleh bad post It really was a little hard to silence the thoughts in her head. The thought about how she might have just cost him his job kept playing over and over. She told her brain it needed to shut up. She really liked this guy and it seemed different than other crushes she had before. She honestly didn’t know why either. He just seemed special and different. She wasn’t complaining either. ‘Oh that’s really cool. What did they speak about?’ Alani figured that whomever he was speaking about was probably a female, but she was going to tell herself over and over that it wasn’t. It wasn’t as if she wasn’t aware that he had had girlfriends or whatever before. The man was twenty-seven so he must have dated, if not in high school in college. She was the only one in this situation that hadn’t been on any sort of date or in any sort of relationship. Alani gave a small nod to the answer of her question. ‘That’s good.’ She turned to look at him as he told her what all was usually at the convention. It all sounded like a lot of fun and she was glad she was going. She was even more glad that she was going with Der. She just felt like it was going to be more enjoyable with him since he shared the same taste in books as her, at least to her knowledge he did. ‘That all sounds like a lot of fun. I’m sure I’ll love it.’ She smiled back at him, just glad to be there. She just had to keep thinking positive. Everything was going to be alright. None of this was a mistake on either of their parts.
As they pulled up to the convention Alani felt her nerves hit her again. A million thoughts came rushing through her head. What if people looked at them funny? What if her parents were randomly here? Oh gosh her parents. She wondered how they would react if they knew who she was out with right now. Not like they disliked Der. They were actually the ones that set her up to babysit for him the first time. They probably never thought it would lead to this though. She pushed those thoughts out of her brain just to be hit with another wave of questions in her mind. The one that scared her the most was will he hold my hand? She didn’t know if he would and she didn’t know if she wanted him to. Ok she did want him to, but the entire idea scared her. She looked out the window trying to calm herself down as she looked at all that was already happening at the convention. ‘It looks awesome.’ Another small smile came to her face as she looked back at him. She could do this. Just roll with the punches. |

It was probably due to the potential of this turning out to be the start of something great; or the possibility of this ending in disaster. He didn't exactly felt like the second one was likely, for things seemed to be going rather smoothly; they weren't clawing at words and the conversation seemed to be flowing nicely. It was part of that that confused him greatly; should he push away all his doubts? Probably, but he was still unsure about how this day was going to end. Had he ever been so nervous on dates? God, he could hardly remember; sure when he had started dating it had been odd, but he had moved pass it quickly so why was he debating on so many things on this one? Oh right, several elements going against him. Well, a couple of ones. His quitting his job had been one that he took care off, then there was the age gap; would that be too much for them to make this work? Derrick had always thought that he had the mentality of a twenty-year old, others had told him similar things as well so perhaps that could play in favor. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves, he needed to get a grip on himself; this was nothing new. This was just like any other date and he should see it as such. If he kept thinking about the fact that she was a former student, that she was ten years younger than him, then he was going to snap and leave. God he didn't wanted to end up doing such stupid thing again. He always left when things were going good, he would freak and he knows it's the worst thing to do. Thankfully Alani spoke again and that got him to get distracted once more "Oh well, they talk about how they started writing, their inspiration, what the book means to them, stuff like that" he mentioned, eyes looking around as he was now trying his best to find a parking spot. It wasn't incredibly crowded, but it still had some decent amount of people. "I am sure you will too" Derrick flashed a smile before finally finding a parking space. He quickly drove the car down that place and easily parked the car. He had to thank his father for being the great driver that he is today. Why was he nervous once again? Was it because they were going to be in public? What if he saw someone from the faculty here? Who cares? It might happen whether he likes it or not, people were bound to find out one way or the other, right? Not the entire city of course, but some people. He sighed, crashing down the thoughts to focus on her words again.
"OK, I really am sure you are going to have fun today" Derrick said with his always confident smile and words. It was something he couldn't help but doing, sure there were times in which that confidence had been broken and beaten to almost pure dead but he had managed to push through that and glue some pieces back together. Once he had parked, once he had taken off his seat belt he quickly got out of the car and moved to walk around it, opening the door for her and offering his hand to help her out. "By the way, here's your pass" he added once she had gotten out of the car and he had closed the door. His free hand, the one that wasn't still holding on to her hand moved to take two tickets out of the pocket of his jeans. He held it out for her. It wasn't like he was going to come here and guy it now, no he had made sure to go buy them almost instantly after she had agreed to come with him. By the time Derrick realized he was still holding on to her hand he was unsure as to whether he should or shouldn't pull it away. Was she alright with walking with him like this? Was she waiting for him to let go of her hand? It wasn't like he was holding it too tight that she was unable to pull it back if she wanted to, in fact it was a pretty light grip and she could do so if she so desired. It had been like a reflex not to let it go and now he felt like a fool. Derrick continued to tell himself that if she wanted to let go she could do so at anytime. Yet he was seriously hoping she wouldn't do it. The man had been thinking he could offer his arm for her, so holding hands was kind of like the same thing right? More relaxed and usual. Why was something as simple as holding hands causing him to feel so confused? He kept the emotion away from his face though, he was just smiling and acting accordingly to the emotion that was the biggest one inside of him. Happiness. "Have you ever been to anything like this before?" he asked her, he was never good at asking those type of things, he would rather wait till someone tells him because he would hate to make people feel like he is prying into their lives. Even when his past relationships did ending for him acting cold and uninterested which translates to him not asking those questions. So he was trying to change that, because he was by no means, cold or uninterested. As he talk they moved to the line to walk inside. There were only a few people before them, so he was certain they wouldn't be standing in line for too long. CLICK HERE Soooo, he ended up holding her hand haha |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT IN LOVE The Words: five nine three The Outfit: click The Mae Says bleh bad post The more Alani focused on the words that were coming out of Derrick’s mouth the better she was at keeping her thoughts under control. It only got bad whenever the car went silent. It wasn’t as if it was an awkward silence either. It was more of a natural silence and it just ended up putting thoughts in her head that she didn’t want there. She just wanted to enjoy the night without over analyzing anything. But alas this being her first date and all she couldn’t help it. She would continue to over analyze and just hope that she didn’t act on whatever thing came to her mind. ‘That’s really cool. I’m always interested into what makes author’s write what they do.’ Alani found herself all the time reading some book by some author and wondering how they came up with such an amazing idea. She would admit that she wondered the most about this when it came to The Hunger Games. It was her guilty pleasure book and she could honestly read it over and over. She would never outwardly fangirl over it, but her inner fangirl was there and it always would be. She smiled as he reassured her that she would love it. It was weird how she felt like she already knew him so well just from their short chats and their random going ons over instant messaging. She could see that ya she really did like this guy, even if he was older and used to be her teacher.
Alani smiled as he helped her out of the car. What a gentleman. And who said chivalry was dead? She took the pass, holding it firm in her hand, trying not to focus on the thing in her other hand. ‘Thanks’ She had never held a guys’ hand before. Sure it was just to help her out of the car, but he had yet to let go. She didn’t want to pull away either. She liked the way her tiny hand fit in his larger one. She liked the warmth that radiated from his body. It wasn’t as if he was pulling away either. So there they walked with her hand cupped in his. She wanted to lace her fingers within his, but she didn’t know if that was ok. This was a first date after all. She would just wait to see if he moved to do it. The longer she was with him the more she realized how she liked to be old fashioned dating wise. The guy being a gentleman and making the first moves. Yes, that definitely was her style. She would never be forward, but her shy demeanor also probably played into that. Alani shook her head at the question before stopping herself and realizing she might not have been to a book convention, but she had been to conventions before. ‘Back in Hawaii I went to a lot of surfing conventions.’ That was about all she was going to say about that. Most times she had just been a guest, but there were those few that she was there with Roxy since they had sponsored her. Or that one time after Worlds where she actually had to speak. Ya she wouldn’t bring that up. ‘Have you been to anything other than this convention? Better, have you ever spoken at a convention?’ She figured it was safe to ask him that without the question being reciprocated. She was younger so why in the world would she had ever spoken at a convention before? |

Since pushing it all to the depths of his mind didn't seem to do much work he was going to try a different approach. Let the words come to his mind, analyze them in a rational and quick way and then file them up to be taken cared of later on. It seemed like a better and much organized way to deal with things rather them pushing and crushing them away; because apparently if he did that they would just come back two times stronger, and with friends. So yes, he was going to do things differently from this point on. However luckily enough his mind was currently thinking about the fact that she said she was always interested on why the writer decided to write those stories or how he comes up with them. That was actually a very normal question during this type of things, and he was certain that the question was going to be asked if the writer itself didn't just went along with saying it before hand. One could sort of hear the people in line talking now, discussing their favorite writers and their books, wondering on what they were going to find inside and if it was going to be different than last year or something similar to it. Derrick smiled, he was wondering the same things as well but he knew somethings were bound to be different, one could not have the same show over and over if they wanted to attract new people. Suddenly the thought of her hand came to him again and he resisted the sudden urge to look down at it. He needed to keep his head leveled, and he was fine with holding her hand and she seemed alright with it as well so why push his luck?
Derrick was still a little on the nervous side but luckily he had been on enough dates to know how to act confident. He did tended to sometimes come off as cocky or arrogant but like he always said, that was not a bad thing at all. His mind went back to reality when the girl spoke again and he turned to look down at her with a smile on his lips. So surfing conventions? He could obviously see how that could work out for her, he still recalled how much she seemed to like surfing, even more since she had told him about the competitions. Der had noticed the apprehension when he asked about such subject so he did his best not to say much about it, because in reality he was not going to bring up a subject that could cause the nice mood that had settled between them to sink. Derrick wondered how a surf convention would be, certainly an entertaining thing to think about. To her question he chuckled, recalling some moments from several ones. "I have been to way too many conventions to really count them" Derrick said as he moved forward a little when the line moved. "I have actually, on several ones" he added, shrugging his shoulders in a very soft way, he actually liked that a lot "It was rather fun the first time than I had to keep doing it" he added as he guided her forward and finally gave his pass to the lady taking them. "Welcome to the annual book convention, with this you'll be able to walk in and out" she handed each a small sticker and then Derrick moved them along. Once they were both inside Derrick would realize just how crowded it actually was, so he pulled Alani a little closer to him, his fingers lacing with hers to get a better grip on her hand, so she wouldn't end up being taken away in case they happened to run into a big crowd. He didn't even realized that he had done that until he was already walking. He tended to do that around her; act first then think later, and to be honest that was not the way things should be done. It was the complete opposite and he wasn't sure how good that was going to be. "What would you like to see first? I think the authors aren't scheduled for another fifteen minutes so we could just walk around and see what else is around" he suggested.
The guy was still too wrapped up in the thoughts about this ate that his brain had not been able to link the fact that the last time he had been here was with the woman he had called to be the love of his life. Anna. Boy was his brain going to have a blast once Derrick was able to link everything together. One part of his brain was ready to link it, yet another part was stopping it all costs in order for him to keep having a nice fun date with Alani. Nothing should be ruined, but then again Derrick tended to screw things up, not that he wanted that to happen right now, in fact he was going above and beyond to not let that happen today. Alani was different, he knew that very well, which was why he was giving more than one hundred percent to make it work. Because it took more than just a simple girl for Derrick Romanov to not even hesitate much on quitting his job just to go on a date that might or might not work. It had to work, he wanted it to work, but even so. |

Unreal. A dream. Those words circulated through her head a few times trying to push all the negative out. She really was lucky to be out with Derrick. She was lucky that somehow she had found this amazing guy who seemed like he wanted to put it all on the line just for her. A guy who obviously genuinely cared about her. How she lucked out with such an amazing guy on a first date was beyond her. She didn’t know where this would lead to or if it would even lead to anything, but a part of her really hoped it went somewhere and somewhere far. She just wanted to jump in with both feet and not think about what could happen or the negative consequences. But she didn’t know how Der felt. Although he did quit his job just to go on one date. Just one single date. That had to mean something, right? It meant that she was special, right? She wasn’t really sure and she really didn’t want to read too much into it. She was only sixteen. She couldn’t just meet the perfect guy for her at sixteen. And that guy couldn’t be her old teacher. Although her mom was sixteen when she met her dad and he was the only man that she ever dated and they were happy and had four children. So maybe just maybe things could turn into more, but she wouldn’t let herself dwell on that right now.
‘What’s been your favorite?’ She figured they couldn’t all be book conventions. There were conventions for everything today from the planet to Mars to that random fly on the wall. And as much as she loved books she didn’t think she could ever go to several book conventions in one year. Alani smiled when he didn’t retort the question. She had never been one for crowds so having to speak at those conventions had been the most nervous she had ever been. Although being on this date was starting to rival that. Butterflies shot through Alani’s stomach as she was pulled closer to Der and his fingers were laced within his. She felt safe being near him. There wasn’t even anything that she needed protecting from and yet she just felt safe. Alani shut off her brain and just let instinct take over. Soon enough her head was lightly leaning against his shoulder and she was pretty sure if her smile was any wider it would touch her ears. ‘Ya that sounds good to me.’ Alani looked up at him with a big smile. She honestly didn’t care what they did, she was just was glad she was here with him |

It had been his idea to come to this convention so he wanted to make sure she was going to have some sort of fun here and there. His bright blue eyes continued to scan the area as people seemed to move effortlessly around them as if they already knew where they were heading too; he was also thinking about what she had told him. What was his favorite convention? It was such an easy question but even then he just couldn't think of one that had been best than the rest by much; he had enjoyed each and everyone in their own particular way. Everything had been different, and the subjects were so different that he could not even put them in the same category. He should really have an answer to what she had asked him but he was taking a few seconds to respond, not too much because he didn't wanted to take too long and then have her not be very interested. "I know which one was the best" he said in the end, his face moving up and down as he had finally figured out which one he had liked the most. "Venice was great, I got to talk and they had some amazing people talking as well" he said to her with a smile on his lips; he had been very interested on it. He had also been able to make some great friends, then after that he had gone to have a nice dinner with them, OK his mind really needed to go back on track so he let the memories slip away so he soon came to smile and look down at her. "It was a journalism convention, which was rather fun" he said with a chuckle as he looked around the place. He wished this had been one of those, even so he was fine with it being one about books. A small sigh escaped his lips, but it was rather nice, it was a sigh of happiness. He was happy; well, that was clearly not expected. A few weeks ago he wouldn't have been happy to be here at all, in fact too many memories would have come crashing down in his mind and cause him to be extremely sad.
It was in that very moment that he realized who he had come here last; his heart began to race as he tried his best not to let the sentiment to reach his face. He felt his throat dry up and he was glad he was not a person to sweat because if he was then his hand would have been soaked. However he was fine, he could deal with this; his feelings about Anna should not mix up at the moment, he was having a good time. Dear Lord, this was a little too much for him, he could not help himself as he thought about Anna. His eyes slowly moved away, not really focusing on anything but thankfully it seems as if he was trying to find somewhere for them to go. Before the gloom sensation could take over him entirely he felt something that got him to snap out of his thoughts; he instantly turned to look at Alani as he felt her head lean against his shoulder. The feeling of her head there made him smile, actually smile as he almost stared down at her. His thought began to move away, he could not understand why or how but he found himself simply focusing on her once more. Derrick didn't even questioned it, no, the male just went along with the sensation and focused on her words once more as she agreed to just browse and see what they could find. "Alright" he said to her as he began to walk with her, it was a nice and calm pace; for they were in no particular rush. As he walked he began to see several stands, some selling books, other had some art merchandise, one even had some stickers and shirts about the event. He never had much interest on those. Then he saw in the distance some performers; one of them was dancing, other one was drawing, the third was playing a soft tune in a violin while the last was merely reading some poetry. All of them well enough apart, for three of them had their own music. He wouldn't mind see one of those while waiting so he began to guide Alani that way. "This is one of my favorite things about this place" he said while he looked at the first performer which was dancing. Some sort of lyrical jazz he assumed by the looks of the movements. . Not my best work, hope it's ok! |
