TONIGHT I WANNA BE A REBEL
skating through the streets bennett was looking for somewhere that he could be alone and smoke. everyone seemed to be busy today but he really needed somewhere to go and smoke. most of the time he did it in his room but his grandmother was on some obsessive cleaning spree through the house and was constantly in and out of his room. he had already made sure he had carefully hidden his stash in the floor boards so he knew it would be safe while he was gone. but there was no way he was going to be able to smoke in his room without her figuring it out. there was no way she couldn't know that he was on drugs but she seemed to just pretend to be oblivious to it. she knew what a difficult time he was having so maybe this was her way of letting him deal with the death in his own way. though he really doubted she understood how severe the problem really was. if she had found the major stash of an assortment of drugs raging from pills to maybe some rather hardcore drugs he knew she'd have a heart attack. bennett wasn't the smartest guy but he was smart enough to know that he had a problem but he didn't plan on fixing it anytime soon. life was short so he was going to do whatever he could to find some way to get through it until it was time for the end. there was no escaping it so why bother stressing your whole life when everything could just end in the blink of an eye.
it also didn't help that his sister happened to be home for the weekend. whenever she was home and bennett was around she was always attempting to use the psych techniques she learned at university to analyze him. it drove him insane whenever she would diagnose him with some random thing he'd never heard of before. she was on a crazy rampage trying to find out what was wrong with him and how to fix it. it didn't help that he had already been diagnosed adhd, depression, and anxiety order. he had a few prescription for pills but he had already taken it upon himself to self-medicated, every minute he was awake. a sober bennett was a rare sight but everyone was so use to him stoned so they just assumed that was how he was all the time. if only they saw what he was like when he wasn't full of some type of drug. as soon as his sister had taken the textbook out to reference something he knew he had to get away so he grabbed his skateboard and told everyone he was going over to zoe's.
they all loved his girlfriend because they thought she would be a good influence on him. when he had first moved back to the area they had gotten together and had been together ever since. he thought he was the luckiest guy in the world to have such a pretty girl pay attention to him. they were each others first everything and it was all pretty great in the beginning. but things hadn't stayed that way for very long but breaking up with her wasn't an option she already made it clear that she wasn't able to live on if he did. bennett loved her so he stayed with her despite her somewhat crazy behavior. he wasn't sure how he would be able to handle being alone either so maybe this was just the best for the both of them. at the moment zoe was apparently busy with her study group so bennett couldn't even go there to hang out. his two best friends were also busy so he was stuck having to entertain himself and smoke alone, not that he minded the latter.
he stopped when he reached the park kicking the edge of his skateboard so it would fly up straight into his waiting arm. walking through the park he went towards the path that people constantly run. but instead of following the path for long he strayed away and headed towards the creek area where not many people ever bothered to go. the path there was slightly rough and there was always a chance of falling and hurting yourself. but bennett spent so much time in the woods near the park that he knew the best way to get anywhere. he also knew the best spot to stop and smoke where nobody would walk by. finally reaching it he plopped down on the ground and put his skateboard down next to him. fishing in his pocket he pulled out a small blunt that he had rolled earlier and stuck it in his mouth. then he took out his lighter and watched as the end engulfed in flames.
