[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I KISSED A BOY AND I LIKED IT The Words: 410 The Outfit: clicky The Notes this took forever. sooorrryyy! Cor had only been back a few weeks and in those few weeks he was easily reminded why he had been itching to leave seven years prior. His days had seemed packed though, what with moving and work. He had barely gotten to go around and see the people who he hadn’t seen in years. Not like there were many people he wanted to see. There was Der, who was the only one who even knew he was coming into town before he did. He hadn’t even told his best friend Molly that he was coming to town. Not that he didn’t want her to know, he just wanted to make sure he was settled in before telling her. Not like that was what happened. He had ended up running into the girl at the coffee shop where she did not seem too pleased to learn that this was how she was figuring out he was back in Ocean City.
He wasn’t going to let that happen again though. No he wasn’t going to just randomly run into people he was friends with in high school and be like oh ya I’m back sorry I didn’t tell you. That was why he was marching himself over to the bakery at that very moment. He had heard that Nicolette had somehow landed herself back in Ocean City too. Oh the irony. Both of them used to talk about how much they hated it, how they would get out and never look back, how she would never work at the bakery and he would never step foot in Manchester ever again, and yet both were back. Cor was now a teacher at Manchester and Nicolette was back working in the bakery. Funny how life turned out.
Corbin pushed the door of the bakery open to hear the soft bell ring, signaling that someone new had entered. He walked up to the counter, leaning his chin on the glass case, and started ringing the little bell on the counter. He was hoping that Nicolette would take this as a signal of who it was. He was pretty sure no one else had ever done that and it was his thing in high school. Whenever he knew she was working and he wanted to try and convince her to play hookey with him he would walk in and ring the bell until she appeared. He figured she couldn’t ever forget something like that, right? |

unfortunately this was one of those slow days where not much was going on. customers came in now and then but not much excitement. nicolette was seated in the bakery office going over some financials with her father. she spent most of her time organizing all of his paper work so she could find out what she could do with it. no matter how many times she tried to explain important details regarding the money her father could barely pay attention. he hated talking about finances, all he wanted to do was bake. he trusted her with whatever she thought would be best for the bakery so he urged her to do whatever she wanted. unfortunately for him he wasn't getting away that easily and she continued to attempt to drill the information to his head.
nicolette paused what she was doing when she heard the bell begin to ring. nobody ever actually bothered to with it because they never had to wait very long. that was the first time she had even heard it since she moved back. her father was already standing ready for an excuse to get away from her and her lecturing. "i've got it dad, sit down" she ordered much to his dismay. looking like a disgruntled teen he took a seat and pretended to read the paper that was in front of him. though she was sure the second she left he would somehow find his way back into the kitchen. she just shook her head at him wondering how he survived this long acting like such a child. but she already knew the answer to that, her mother. when she was around she had done all the work for him making it easier for him to just do the part that he enjoyed.
walking back over to the counter wondering who the impatient customer was she paused in the door frame and leaned against it with a smile. of course it was corbin, he had been doing the exact same thing since high school. though he was the last person nicolette expected to run into back here. he happened to be one of the few people who understood her need and desire to get as far away from this town as possible. yet here he was chin on the counter waiting for her to come and hang out as if nothing had changed. seeing him made her wonder how long it had really been since she had left the town behind. it seemed as though it was so long ago but everything she did felt so familiar and normal to her. everything that happened just seemed like a short vacation which was over just when it had really started. sauntering over to the counter she stopped in front of him not bothering to bring herself down to his level. "what can i do for you, sir" she responded with a smile and emphasis on the word sir.
