In a way, her name is pretty suitable because when she’s working towards getting something she wants, she can be cold and merciless like a hailstorm. She’s the type who can smile pretty, say the right things, and act the appropriate way. The name of the game is success, and ambition gives her the drive she needs to persevere and seize any available opportunities to get what she wants. She's careful and calculative, and though mishaps and hindrances are the keys to getting on her nerve, she's the type who makes sure to maintain her composure. That isn’t to say she’s an ice queen of any sorts, but at the same time she’s not one to act overly affectionate. friends - - - When someone mentions the term ‘friendship’, the first people whom Hales thinks of would be her fellow cheerleaders. After having been on the squad for as long as anyone can remember, it was just a given that it'd become her clique and that she'd become captain, otherwise known as head cheerleader. There are ups and downs to being friends with fellow cheerleaders, but the main thing is that she understands that need to get along as a team. Her distrusting and doubtful nature has her acting detached and distant, making it hard for people to get close to her. Her high standards towards others has typically has her picking friends based on the extent to which she would benefit from being associated with the particular person. That isn’t to say she’s impossible to truly befriend; it’s just work that requires patience. enemies - - - In an extremely competitive world, who has time to wait around and settle for second place? Enemies may be plentiful because Hales readily tramples over others to get what she wants. In addition to that, as a fairly popular girl, it’s simply natural for her to pick on others as a way of displaying the power she wields due to her standing in the social pyramid. It’s nothing personal; she just has an appearance to keep up. She may not go around looking for brawls, but it’s just as much of fight when she’s spreading around rumours since most people don’t take well to being badmouthed. lovers - - - Past experience in the romance department has left her jaded and insistent on the belief that love is a temporary state of mind. Like with most of her friendships, Hales believes relationships are based on the extent to which she'll benefit. She likes to date around and may have a fling or two, but she isn’t the type who would cheat when in a relationship. At the same time she’s not exactly the cuddliest, most loving girlfriend around, and there’s an ever present risk that she’ll leave because she’s gotten all she wanted out of the relationship. He’s only fun company when you know him on a shallow level because his true nature isn’t one that is particularly lovable. Talented with words, he’s always careful about what he says so he can honestly stake a claim on being reliable and keeping his promises even if he lies compulsively about other things. It can be said that he’s a charismatic and charming social butterfly who makes friends with anyone. However, he is secretive and doesn’t talk about himself. After all, it’s hard to say that he was the product of an affair who was scorned by his mother, and because he was booted out of his home not too long ago, the man and woman whom he refers to as his parents are actually his uncle and aunt. friends - - - Though true friendship should be based on honesty, he has no qualms about deceiving others in order to be liked. He’ll observe others and behave in a way they want him to act, not because he’s desperate but because he just enjoys being liked and praised. Most of his friends would likely be unable to see past his smiles and friendliness. Behind the mask, Dalton can be rather harsh and cruel. He’ll criticise, insult, tease, threaten, and bully the people whom he cares about the most, but because it’s hard to believe that it’s his way of showing that he cares, he’ll have very few close friends. As a result, he typically keeps a safe distance. enemies - - - As a part of life, Dalton will definitely have enemies even though he doesn’t often pick fights. He’s not the smartest kid around, which was part of the reason why he had been held back in junior year; he accepts that he’s better at partying and having a good time, but others may look down on him. Because he’s flirty, a few jilted lovers may also join this category. There is also the handful of people who may have been exposed to his real nature when they got close and felt scorned in the process. lovers - - - Since Dalton dealt with the consequences of love gone wrong at a young age, one might expect him to hate relationships but that would be incorrect. He’s come to accept that love exists but can go awry. As far as he’s concerned, flirting and sleeping around is perfectly harmless, and love will come eventually. When in a relationship, he’s chivalrous in an unexpected way. He does all sorts of gentlemanly things while he’s possessive and somewhat emotionally abusive. Yet when anyone else tries to hurt the object of his affections, he’ll get overprotective and defensive because his policy is that he can bully his loved one, but others had better back off. She often attempts to smile and act like everything’s alright, but in reality, she is usually miserable and torn up over the death of her long-term boyfriend. Music is the only thing that helps her cope because it’s always been her passion, and one could say she’s a musical prodigy. Music has been a part of her life since childhood, and experience has guaranteed that she has at least a basic knowledge on how to work most types of instruments. The cost of being talented in that area of the arts has cursed her with a lack of athleticism and shaky grades, but she can’t say she minds. All she wants is to perform onstage in hopes of leaving an impression because that is the only time she can forget about reality to lose herself in her music, enabling her to act uncharacteristically energetic and lively in contrast to her typically quiet and sheepish demeanour. friends - - - Though not particularly shy, Aphy also isn’t very social because she fears that when she attempts to make friends, she’ll be scrutinised and insulted. Others will likely have to approach her first, but afterwards she finds it hard to let people in because they may judge her. She tries her best to fit in by smiling and laughing as if everything is alright and life is peachy keen, but perhaps a handful of friends will see past her forced laughter to offer her a shoulder to cry on and to patch up her tattered self confidence, though it would also be nice to have some friends who try to take her out to have fun. enemies - - - It should be difficult to make enemies with a girl who hates conflict and has virtually no temper, but it’s not completely impossible. Some people may accuse Aphy of using the difficult moments she’s lived through to act as an attention whore, and others may be old bullies who are back to push her around a little more. She doesn’t really have the will to fight back, nor does she have the anger and hatred to want to lash out and retaliate. lovers - - - Love is something everyone needs, but it leaves Aphy feeling terrified. A boy her age named Gavin had been her support system and boyfriend for years, and he gave her a promise ring, saying that he would marry her someday. His unfortunate death in a hit-and-run when leaving her house one night put those plans to rest and left her heartbroken and shattered. To this very day, she believes that they had been made for each other, and she’s petrified by the notion she could ever fall in love again because it would be the ultimate betrayal. It’s not quite a story worth crying over since her parents patched things up with marriage counseling, but she’s never quite gotten over being neglected during her childhood and seeks attention from everyone else as a result. At age seventeen, she’s dropped out of school to pursue independence and a singing career, and all of it is because she has a son, Trevor, at home in New Jersey just waiting for her to come back. While he’s on her mind everyday, she does relish in having to be herself. friends - - - Brimming in confidence and generally outgoing, Vie is the type who is easy to befriend. She likes to party and have fun, even if she’s not into doing drugs anymore. However, there’s always a catch. If you’re looking for someone to trust and fully confide in, you might want to look elsewhere. Secrets bore her so she won’t go out of her way to especially guard any from nosy minds, and she has a bad habit of hitting on guys even if they’re dating her friends. After all, what’s the fun of a relationship if you can’t put it to the test? Obviously she’s rough around the edges, but she’s always reliable if you’re looking for a confidence boost or time to hang out and relax. enemies - - - Considering Vie has quite a few flaws that may be difficult to accept, she might clash with some people. She picks the occasional fight or two, but otherwise being at odds with someone has never been a major concern of hers. If she can be spending her time doing something she enjoys, then why waste it dealing with someone else? She’s currently preoccupied trying to take a step forward in her singing career, and she has a son waiting for her at home, which means there are bound to be people who want to stand in her way or disapprove of her behaviour. lovers - - - As expected from a girl like her, relationships are a rocky subject. The concept of love and a lasting relationship appeals to her, but considering that it’s the twenty-first century, she doesn’t place much faith in the idea of finding a soul mate. Her main interest in simply having fun and enjoying her life, but any guy who wants to win her over has to show her a lot of patience because she’s not quick to change her ways, and he’ll have to accept that she’s a flawed mother.
