He recalled the wind, the heath, the breathing, the look on the persons face. Heck, he even remembered if he had managed to see if the person had shaved that day, if they were married or if they were scared or not. However, now that he stood there at the entrance of the shooting range he could not recall a thing about how it was to fire. Part of him didn't even recalled how to properly hold a gun. How was that even possible? Was it logical for him to remember all those shots he took but not be able to fire even a paintball now without hitting two feet away from the target? Heath had even played those dumb games like Call of Duty to practice his shooting ability and it was not good, maybe because he had done it with a control instead of a gun, which is why he had bought another game that did had a gun and it seemed to be the same. It was not like he was desperate to actually shoot someone again, but it felt like a part of him was missing; although pretty much all of him was missing anyway.
Stop it Heath, you need to be able to just relax, you are here to learn, get one piece of the puzzle back... he thought while he looked at the doors. The guy had been standing there for a while so perhaps he needed to just step inside and get this over and done with instead of just wondering here why he couldn't remember some things and remember others. A small sigh escaped his lips, hand moving to run across his longish hair; then moving to run that same hand over his jaw, feeling his well trimmed beard brush over his palm. He had thought about shaving it all off but for some reason he had decided to let it like this. It was different from what he had seen on the photos at his house, and yeah, his mind sort of liked the idea of distancing from who everyone said he was. Because to be honest, he liked the idea of being a new person better than to try and be someone he didn't felt comfortable with being. So yes, he was going to keep this up until he found a new identity or his brain decided to recall who he really was. It just seemed a hundred times better than faking it.
With a push of his thoughts away the guy simply walked into the building and move slowly to the counter. His eyes seeing the young woman behind it who seem to instantly smile as she saw him. It seemed to him that the woman knew exactly how to do her work. Make people seem welcome. "Hello, I am supposed to be here with a meeting with Dimitry Kalinkov" the guy waited for a few seconds, wondering if the police officer he had met before was already here or if he was too early. In all honesty he didn't even knew if he was in time or not. "Just a second please" the woman spoke and she began to type away int he machine. "Name please" Heathcliff should have expected that to come out of her mouth but he didn't minded that much. "Heathcliff, Whitfield" he said as he looked at the woman and then noticed her typing a few things away on the machine before nodding and smiling. "Go to the door to the left, down the hall on the third door to the left" the woman motioned to the door while speaking "You'll fine Mr. Kalinkov there along with anything you need" Heath gave a polite nod of his head before turning to walk down that way "Thank you" he murmured, his feet quickly moving one after the other, his hand opening the door and soon he was heading down the hall, maybe this won't be so bad and maybe he won't such at what he was about to do. He certainly hoped so after all. "You'll be fine, Heathcliff, you'll be fine" he murmured to himself of course, as no one else was down the hall. At least the guy had some people a the restaurant that he could get a long with, they weren't his best friends but they were people who didn't questioned his mood or who he was. That was perfect in his mind. Funny, by now he preferred to have new acquaintances than trying to rekindle his past ones.
Finally he reached the door. He had heard of this place. One could shoot inside a room, to the silhouettes of a person with lines and circles; and on the back one had the large backyard in which you had more space, but he knew he could not head straight to those because he would end up shooting anything but the targets. Heath could sort of recall when he had started shooting as a sniper, it had been amazing to finally be able to do so. Now he was back at the bottom, starting up again and it pained him to have to do this; in fact he felt sort of ashamed. He had a medal for God's sake! A medal for his work! and now he had no clue how to shoot?! Ashamed yes, but not completely at the bottom, because he was asking for her and he was willing to learn once more. It was the best he could do after all.
Part of him wanted to skip this and head straight for the sniper one, but knew better than to do that. As of now the door was opened when he saw the green light lit up; letting him now it was clear for him to move inside. As he moved into the room he saw the male he was supposed to meet here, wondering if he had been here for a while or not. "Hey..." he greeted the other male, hand moving to close the door behind him as he moved forward. "Sorry I am late" he added, reaching a hand out to shake the other man's hand. Again he felt himself rather dumb to have to be here, but then again he was here and so he needed to learn to deal with this just like he had to learn to deal with everything else in his life. What he wouldn't give to have some part of the life he did remembered back in his life, which was why he was searching to recall how to shoot, it would be a step closer to the man he knows he is, instead of the one people want and expect him to be.

He was climbing up the career ladder quite quickly. from day one here in america, he went from a lowly garbage man, to a respectable position in the police force, and it only took three years. imagine where he would be in two more at this pace. but that was beside the point. the meeting was early in the morning, so he had to be there even earlier. wonderful. one thing that he was still wondering, was what the meeting was for, or what it was. then again it wasn't a meeting, it was an appointment?
and when he got into his office, dropping his duffel bag, hearing muffled gunshots from nearby firing ranges, this wasn't his normal place of work. he would usually by now would be in a cop car, waiting for somebody to make a wrong turn or go a tad too fast. but before he could get comfortable, a ring was given and he picked it up, the female voice told him that his guest has arrived. he had a little control panel to let people that wanted to see him know when it was a good time to come in, he pulled up the name of his guest on his computer.
Sniper? needing shooting lessons? what is this! he chuckled quietly as he pressed the go ahead button. a few moments later a man walked in and introduced himself, dimitry, being a man of honor, was already standing, and took his handshake. it was firm, unlike some of the other recruits. "Do not worry." he gave a feeble smile, his thick russian accent cutting through the dense air. but he asked out of politeness "You must be Heathcliff Whitfield?" and when he asked the question he sat himself down, beckoning the man to sit as well. and out of curiosity, he waited and took in what he said. "and whats a decorated sniper doing here looking for shooting lessons?"
he asked with a raise of a brow, he was on the field, something about an injury but it didn't say what it was. he figured it was something weak, but then again, if he was a sniper, why would he come to this place to look for shooting lessons? it just didn't make any sense, he hoped the man named Heathcliff would answer his internal questions, as well as the ones he asked, no matter the order.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, border-radius: 1em; -moz-border-radius: 1em; background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2wom9du.png), width: 400px; height: 400px;] Sometimes I wish for falling, Wish for the release I’ll dance with myself, I drunk myself down, Found people to love, Left people to drown, I'm not scared to jump, I'm not scared to fall, there was nowhere to land, I wouldn't be scared at all… As anyone who knew Heathcliff in the army and they will tell you he is not a man to back down from anything. The guy truly was a born leader, which is why he had managed to actually move in the army rather quickly; it was something he could relate to the man who now stood before him, if he was to know his quick promotion in the career he had chosen. However, Heath knew nothing about it and so the thoughts went unknown. All he could really do was try to be himself and, try to actually shoot the right target. It was terrible to actually do this, but he had told himself that several times and it was probably best not to do this anymore. Leave the past in the past, he should focus himself on that matter instead of the rest.
However, his mind tended to make this terrible, it was very difficult for him not to actually listen to his brain for it had given him the answer on several occasions. A small sigh escaped his lips and he looked at the man, shaking his hand when the man reached out his. A firm shake, eyed meting the other males eyes, a quick shake and that was it. One could know much from a hand shake, and to find someone who could give a firm one was well was refreshing. Nice actually, to find someone who had confidence, it was also good to know Heath still held some confidence inside, even when most of him was gone or tortured. Dear lord, he most stop now, no need to feel sorry for himself, for he would hate others to feel sorry for himself. Impossible to erase it all but he could do his best.
It was nice to see he need not to worry, and despite him not wanting too he catch the thick accent and quickly identify it as Russian. Oh Russia, he had been there once, it had been quick and efficient but even so he had sort of liked what he saw. Not time for flashbacks, they tended to lead to not so happy places anyway so he focused on the words that the male was telling now. "I am" he responded briefly, simply nodding as he saw the man sat down and he moved slowly to take a seat across from him. It felt weird to be back in this sort of place. Eyes looking at the male, but he had also taken in all the things around the room. It was mostly because, well, he had been trained to take in his surroundings. This was not the time to act all soldier like. Or, perhaps this was the perfect time to do so.
A small sigh escaped his lips, he hated having to answer that question. "I can't seem to recall how to do it" he responded. His eyes traveled to look around the room now, unsure of how the other man was going to handle the words he had spoken. "There was an incident, during a mission, it damaged the part of the brain where memories are; and it erased most of my memory; including how to shoot" he finished, that was the short version, for he was not looking forward to thinking of anything else, of giving more explanation to the situation at hand. Of course if he asked, he would have to tell him "I guess I am hoping to either learn again or have the lessons jog my memory into recalling how to do it properly" he finished, he could not be in the force and not know how to shoot, he just couldn't. His eyes had returned to look at Dmitry by the end of the sentence.
Heathcliff didn't exactly felt like most of the time, for once he felt more like in his element. Not entirely sure why for he had never been part of the police enforcement, however, the was a sense of familiarity in the room that made him feel more at peace, So, yes, perhaps he did belonged here instead of at the kitchen of a restaurant working as a cook. He might be good at cooking but he did not wished to spend the rest of his life there, that was for sure. So this place was his second chance.

[classy=head] burn it up [STYLE=float:left; width:379px; background-color:#F4F4F4; opacity:0.7; filter:alpha(opacity=70); height:150px; overflow:auto; font-size:10px; font-family:arial; color:#7A7A7A; text-align:justify; padding: 8px]Dimitry didn't really have friends here in america, he only had ones back home, and he left that life, the life of crime and coldness. and to his surprise, he was working for the very people or rather, organization that was hunting him, but in a different country of course. jail had been enough for him, at the age of eighteen, jail does some crazy things to you.
The calmness of his voice was impressive, most recruits would crack at the sight of dimitry, maybe it was the fact he was impending, his large body structure could rival some 'football' players. but this heathcliff whitfield didnt seem all the little nervous, this would be interesting. and when dimitry sat down, he saw the mans eyes shift softly, not too noticeable from the other civilian recruits he had seen. considering he worked for the russian mob as a hitman, he could read people extremely easily. but for some reason, people struck him as the cold, effective type. but really you had to get on his good side, and he was a good man.
but that was beside the point, and when dimitry treaded into some hazardous waters, a small sigh and the man's story began. a military sniper, probably best shot in his squad or whatever they called sniper units. and somehow, an injury caused memory loss. sad tale, he had been taught to shoot at age six, by his father who was going to send his son to the military even if his mother would fight against it. his family life had been shrouded in denial and hatred, and he ran away at age 13, just barely though, just barely.
he shoved his past into the back of his mind, letting the man talk. and when he stated and idea and fell silent, dimitry could only twirl the pen that was in his hand "i understand." he paused and added "no need for stuffy stories." and he continued "alright, i can help you, but it will be baby steps, dont expect to be shooting your rifles downrange anytime soon." he said with a straight face "i think you understand why." he finish coldly, but the thing was, it wasn't like him to be soft on subjects, it was just his outlook on things really.
he finished with a look to him, wondering what he would say about his plan, although he'd expect him to agree, he was prepared to argue. the main point of the argument would be public safety, and also that most people learned better by small steps, and adding more and more until they can handle it themselves.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, border-radius: 1em; -moz-border-radius: 1em; background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2wom9du.png), width: 400px; height: 400px;] Sometimes I wish for falling, Wish for the release I’ll dance with myself, I drunk myself down, Found people to love, Left people to drown, I'm not scared to jump, I'm not scared to fall, there was nowhere to land, I wouldn't be scared at all… Heathcliff didn't wanted to be a cook for the remains of his life; even when he could not remember his early years he still feel somewhere deep inside of him that slight sensation that he was meant to do something other than being a cook. He wanted to go back to the army but on another level he didn't wanted to jump right back into it; he wasn't scared, not at all, but he did have to wait sometime to go back, they had told him so. However, there were no rules that said he could not pursue a career in the police force while he waited to be able to go into the army once more. This would be his way of keeping himself in shape and going back to the hang of things. Besides, maybe being a police officer wouldn't be so bad, different, yes of course, but but not bad. He really just wanted to get his life back on track, back to where it should be, it had taken a while for him to think this way but now that he had he wanted to keep going. Where was the point on looking to an erased past? No, he might as well look forward and the present for it was quite literally all he had in his life now. Many people wished to forget their past, and he had their wish apparently. Not that he wanted too.
Not to offend the officer before him but he had seen scarier in his life. Maybe it was due to the fact that he did not know what the former job of the male that sit before him had been, maybe because he simply had seen the face of dead and survived. He had no clue what it was, but Heath had slowly but surely stopped being afraid of most things; if anything the things he feared where the ghosts of the people that seem to come to him wishing to be remembered, either that or his own mind. Lately it had been playing with him, being crueler than it used to be with it's comments and he wanted to turn it down. He did remember the calmness he felt when shooting, when he was at the shooting range, he recalled that and he wanted it back no matter the cost. Hopefully this will be the place to provide him with such feeling, eyes locked on the male, not wanting to appear unsure, or show that his mind had been traveling away a little. That would just be rather rude if you ask him.
Speaking more about his past was literally out of the question, if he desired to know the story then he migth as well get it from his officers at the office. That would be the way for him to gain the full story; or half of it really and then Heath could save himself the trouble of explaining it all. The version he gave was really the best one he could think off, it was short and right to the point. So he saw no reason to add anything to it, hopefully Dmitry wasn't going to ask anything else because he would have to cordially decline to answering anything else. Would that upset him? Suddenly he found himself wondering if it would, a little interested but not really wanting to find out. If it happened great if not, then it was probably better off that way.
Suddenly the voice came; he understands? Heath hardly thought so but he didn't comment on it and merely nodded once. Glad now that he was not going to find out what he had been thinking before. Most people would have felt offended by the tone and maybe even the words but not Heath. He came from a place where that tone or a worst one was used on a daily basis even when he did something right. He had been spoken in colder voice by enemies and friends, heck, even the ones in his unit had used it from time to time. So yes, he was perfectly fine with the words and he highly understood why he would need to start from the basics.
"Of course I do" Heath said in all honesty "I wouldn't expect you to give me a M82A1 SASR right away" Heathcliff decided to add. See, that was what bothered him. He could remember the name of the sniper rifle he used to use, he could even name every single part, he could put the entire thing together in record time but he would not be able to use it once it was assembled. What good was that? If Dmitry was to hand him a fun right now he could also put it together quickly, but once more, what good would come from that if he couldn't shoot properly? His dumb mind, how he hated it at times. "I don't mind the pace; I just want to remember" he said as he looked him. Would he understand? Would he be able to understand this was not about wanting to shoot people, not about wanting to brag that he had learned once more; that this really was a part of him that he needed back to feel slightly more complete. Whether he understood or not was not of the matter. All that mattered was that he was willing to show him how to shoot again.
