Alec is of French descent like his father, Monsieur Soulliere, who died when Alec was 12 years old in a car crash. His mother was actually of both American and French nationality, having moved to France when she was in her early twenties. That’s where she met Alec’s father, fell in love, got married, etc. After Soulliere’s death, his family, a prevalent presence in Paris and very bourgeois, pretty much exiled Alec’s mother and her son from the family, seeing as they had never approved of Soulliere’s ‘liaison amoureuse’ with her. She was forced to flee back to her father’s estate in, you guessed it, Maryland. His mother’s family was also very well off, but Alec got his largest sum of money from his father, seeing as the rights of everything his father owned went straight to Alec when he died, according to French law. Although Alec’s mother was shamed into running back to America, the Soulliere family couldn’t touch Alec’s estate in France or the large sum that went into a bank account for him in the states. He can’t touch any of it until he’s 21 without his mother’s approval, but it’s no secret that Alec’s loaded. The damn kid owns a mansion in France!
Anyway, after moving to Ocean City with his mother, Alec grew up to be the prep-tastic popular he is today. He still has a few qualities that point out his heritage, like his slight accent and ability to speak fluent French, but he grew up like any other 12 year old kid would in the States. He excelled at anything academic or athletic, though he doesn’t like to play team sports. From his years in France, under his father’s reign, he was taught Latin, German, and Spanish, how to play the piano and the violin, archery and other hunting skills, and ballroom dancing (that didn’t last long, as he was a clumsy kid). Alec also takes great pleasure in being romantic. Although he’s honestly never had a relationship because he’s much too closed off, and he’s worried that they just want him for what his father earned. Alec actually doesn’t like that he’s set for life because his father died, and would have rathered earning a fortune on his own. Well, it’s too bad we can’t all be born in the slums.
