life - archer likes his life now, in fact, he loves his life now. life now is a stark contrast to what it was just a couple of years ago. sure he still struggles a bit to stay on his own two feet, but it's better. archer grew up in a low income family to two parents who had too many kids than they could handle. he was the second oldest, his brother being five years older, and having four younger siblings, two boys and two girls. the oldest was out of the house by the time archer got into high school so that left him to be the responsible figure while the older one went out and made a life for himself. the next youngest - his sister - is two years apart from archer and definitely the closest to archer than any of the other siblings. the next one is basically the middle child - his younger brother who is three years apart from him. finally the youngest children, twins, a boy and a girl who are now in their senior year of high school. despite that age gap, he still considers himself pretty close to them and watches out for them whenever he can.
high school hadn't held much for him to be quite honest, for the longest time he was a reject really. it wasn't till his junior year did he get really active with sports and found he was pretty good at it, that however still didn't change his reject status. he'd always be that nerdy guy in science class who got way too enthusiastic over a chem lab experiment than scoring a touchdown during playoffs to win the game. archer worked his ass off in high school knowing the only way he'd ever be able to get by in life without half the trouble his parents went through was by getting good grades and getting to college. he had no clear plan other than to get to college and he didn't figure out what he wanted to do till his sophomore year of college. he's always been great at science subjects, they were actually his strong points. so it made sense that he choose to major in chemistry with biology thrown in.
shortly after graduating from college he got engaged to his girlfriend of two years. they had a good relationship in the beginning, it wasn't often they fought about things and everything seemed perfect with them. archer was completely faithful to his bride to be so it was a surprise when he called the wedding off days before it was supposed to happen. it was also a big surprise to find that his bride to be skipped town with his best friend shortly after that. archer doesn't like talking about that bit of his life so the whole thing is still a mystery to everyone, even his family. well what really happened was he caught his fiancee cheating on him with his best friend. honestly, that story is so common these days which is why he didn't bother to let it be known. he was calm about it even though he'd wanted to bash his best friend's face in, he still's hold a grudge against the guy to this day. archer was completely in love with that girl. of course if archer ever saw them again he wouldn't be too pleased.
well that was the least of his woes, the bad luck seemed to start with that. at first he thought he'd be fine, he could get by with his job at the local mechanic's until he found a more stable job. that was until he lost the house among most other things, it wasn't a big fancy house, but it wasn't a shitty house either. a job opening at manchester prep seemed to be his saving grace and what was able to get him back on his feet.

Lyra wasn’t going to lie to herself and say she was a relationship kind of person because she honestly wasn’t. She never did anything more than flirt and crush on people from afar, if it got to be more than that she shut off those emotions quickly. She didn’t she was fit for a relationship really, and she hadn’t found anyone that could get past her motherliness. So she was just that, Lyra who always mothered her friends and made sure things went right. Lyra who was a prefect and usually didn’t bend the rules too much, Lyra who couldn’t be anything more than friends with anyone. But that didn’t bother her at all, she was content with what she had and she never complained about it because who need a relationship anyway? There was far too much drama involved, drama that she didn’t need considering she was still trying to wrap her head around why the hell her father would leave them only to find some other woman and have kids. She’d admit, she was jealous of her half-siblings because they never had to know what it was like growing up without a father, and essentially he was the one who ruined relationships for her. She gave Julian a bright smile, she didn’t think people told him that enough. “It’s a good thing you know. Considering I’m not much of a relationship person myself.” She laughed softly
Her brows furrowed and her nose scrunched up at the mention of the slytherin. Run ins with him were terrible, she didn’t particularly like the guy. Figures as much that he’d be the one causing Katherine problems. “Ugh, what is his deal anyway. He’s like some sick twisted pedophile or something.” Her nose scrunched up more at the thought, shuddering. He probably did get off on hurting people, it wouldn’t surprise her if he did. She nodded at Julian, giving him another smile. She wouldn’t do anything that could potentially put her friend in any danger and right now she wasn’t very sure a professor would be of much help. If anything it would probably only make things worse and she couldn’t stand the thought of Katherine getting hurt because she had blabbed to a professor about it. “No problem at all. I just want to keep Katherine safe.” She sighed, relaxing a bit knowing Katherine was ok, now that she knew Julian was helping.
She scooted a bit closer to Julian, lying on her stomach and looking at him curiously. There was a wide smile on her face, tilting her head a bit. Oh she really loved the thought of Katherine and Julian dating, they were cute as a couple. She laughed softly at his reaction, the poor boy. She nodded her head when he asked her not to tell. “Don’t worry, this is staying with me as well.” She said happily, chirpier that she usually was. “Judging by your reaction, she doesn’t know yet.” It was more of a statement than anything, her brow raised a bit. She shrugged a bit at him, she had no idea what to do in relationships. “Just talk to her more, spend more time with her. Maybe then the both of you will settle into this thing, whatever it is right now and later on it’ll turn into something you want it to be?” It was the only logical thing she could think of seeing as she’s never had a boyfriend before.
