.
dominik walked the lonely beach, the breeze running through his windswept hair as he held his favorite toy, a soccer ball. he had been walking for some time, but he didn't know how long, he checked his watch, but the suns glare caught his eyes and he snapped himself away. he then focused on better things, finding a place to relax and lay in the sand, perhaps dribble the ball a bit, in peace maybe? but he wasn't hoping for anything of that nature, he wanted some company of course. but he doubted any would come, considering it was the most farthest he's walked from the actual drop point. but he didn't really care if anyone came or not, all he wanted to do was enjoy himself, and was that much to ask? considering it was summer and all. once he found a small spot, with its own little chair, he decided to sit in it, and it reminded him of the that one story with the three bears and that girl, but his mind was blank on the name. he sighed and sat there, staring at the waves as they crashed on the shore, he realized he was in a nook, so he dragged the chair out a bit, and onto anyone's line of sight if anyone was here. but he didn't really care right now, all he wanted to do was enjoy his last remaining days of summer, and nothing he hoped, could stop him from that words; 352 music; future folk notes; blehhh bad >.< |

. will melt your popsicle, moving to a new town was always weird. she'd been in maryland for around a month and a half now and she still didn't quite know how things worked. everything was always mysterious and hard to decipher. she was used to being the one in charge and now she just felt lost. but she wouldn't. she refused to be lost. that's why she had put on her bikini (the one daddy didn't know she had) and sauntered out the door, hungry for action and attention.
the boys here were nice. she had met a couple of them over chat and while some were a tad offensive, telling her that she should go back or being weird and saying they were stalking her, she found that most guys here were actually okay. she loved boys. she loved their guilty grins and their hands and the way they always seemed to do whatever they wanted. she had always been captivated by the opposite sex, just like they had been captivated with her. but now that she had grown up some, she had realized that it wasn't holding hands and exchanging flirty ims what they wanted anymore. she used to be puzzled and even upset about it, but now she simply used it to her advantage. she never gave them what they wanted but dangled it close enough so that they'd stick around.
she was only a couple blocks into the beach (her house was practically built on sand) when she realized it was empty. there was not a single soul in sight. the realization came as a crushing disappointment, but she decided to make a workout of it. she had always loved exercising, that burning feeling in her muscles and the adrenaline pumping through her veins. it was the best feeling in the world, in her opinion.
the athletic girl ran across the warm pebbled surface her bare feet slower than usual since they weren't used to jogging over sand. after awhile she got pretty heated up, so she went deep into the waves, a little scared that a shark might appear but being so hot that it didn't really matter. the water was cool as it covered every inch of her body except her neck and face. then a wave came, it was bigger than most and it pulled her under completely. panic consumed her and she opened her mouth to scream but instead of releasing a cry for help, a plethora of salty liquid flew into her mouth, making her gag.
the water was everywhere and she struggled to get back to shore. after that initial meltdown she'd be able burst through the water once in awhile and let out a wail. "somebody help me!!!!" it was certainly loud enough, but with the beach so empty she was terrified and running only on the prayers she was repeating in her head.

.
dominik sighed, it was quite the boring summer day, he wasnt expecting anything to happen. but he had a feeling something would, its not like one of those 'of a girl will walk by sooner or later.' type of feelings, it was a feeling that he had to go search for one. considering the rather flat layout of the beach, if he stood up and walked out of his little paradise of shade, he could see pretty much for miles, even if the beach curved slightly. he snapped out of his thoughts when his mind spoke. help
he was a bit confused at the random outburst his brain had, was it one of those random thoughts he got every now and then? or was it him just going insane? he didn't know, but he raised a brow at his conflict. he had a bit of a cramp in his back from laying too long, you see he wasn't one of those people to sit or lay in a certain position for too long. he stood up and stretched, walking a small distance from his cranny, and once he did he heard a voice, but it was faint, and he was unsure it was still is brain or not, but it came from a direction, that's all he knew.
so he let himself walk, he walked and walked and walked. until finally he spotting something different from the crashing waves, it wasn't a random rock or anything, but it was thrashing around and struggling, he got curious until he reached closer, and he saw distinct features, a flash of colors, hair, arms and a face. He stared in horror, but his instincts took over. he ran into the water, diving in and swimming as fast as he could, it wasn't long until he reached the continuing thrashing as the wake zone pounded it.
he did the brave, and once he reached the now struggling to keep afloat figure, he reached and reached, until finally he felt an arm, in which he grabbed, he then felt a bit awkward, as he tried to handle the continuing to struggle figure, but he slowly but surely floated back to the more manageable waters, hoping that he didn't hurt the figure in the process, he was a bit at lost for words but he spoke as he swam the figure to safety. and as he looked back to speak, he noticed it was a girl. his smile appeared, but he didn't know if she was watching him or just unconscious, he just whispered "Its ok... Your safe now." he pretty much repeated the phrase as he drifted and swam to shallow waters.

. will melt your popsicle, ariel's first thought as the light took over was i thought heaven would be colder. it took awhile for the light to fade away and reveal her true surroundings, sand water, and... wow. who was that? that's when she definitely knew she was in heaven. she couldn't stop staring. he was beautiful, like a sculpture or a movie star. she smiled happily, maybe this whole being dead thing wouldn't be so bad after all.
then she remembered. the salty hurricane in her lungs, the endless panic, the seemingly useless yelling, and then the coughing began. she sputtered the liquid of the sea out in front of her. why wasn't this boy giving her mouth to mouth? a tingle of excitement came at the thought of their lips touching. even though she was probably at her least sexy, she thought it would be appropriate to flirt. "you're really strong!" she exclaimed after realizing that no, she was not floating away to heaven but that this boy was holding her. however, her tone was lacking in the cheery notes she usually spoke in.
she tried to pull her hair back but it was matted on the top of her head, tangled beyond repair in a mess of sand and water. she could hear the waves crashing against the shore, and the sun seemed even brighter than before. how long had she been out? she felt more confused than usual, her head was flying into a state of dizziness that was far out of her control. she closed her eyes in hopes that it would help her think more clearly.
it took awhile for her to put things back into perspective. her olive colored eyes were alert as she raised herself a bit and took a good look at the guy. yup, every bit as cute as she remembered. she had been starting to think she imagined him. "i'm ariel, but obviously i'm not the mermaid or i would have gone with flounder instead of drowning." she explained, the usual pep back into her voice. "and you are?"
the answer came to her as a surprise. he was her hero.

.
dominik laughed as she was dragged along with him, it seemed like a silly scene if one were to barge right into it now, the danger was gone and he had 'saved' her. he looked back at her, when the water was calm, and she was attractive, he wouldn't lie, too attractive. he sighed as he knew that his chances with her were probably slim, she probably didn't even go to the same school as him, let alone lived nearby. but he laughed as she 'complimented him'. it wasn't really a flirt or anything, atleast, thats what he thought. her tone wasn't in the right pitch, and it seemed as though she was irritated. but he was mixed about that thought. thats when she started to cough, and he didn't know what to do, should he do the whole cpr thing that most romantic hero movies did? he decided not to, considering the fact that she recovered quickly.
he just replied "Hah, thanks." as he looked back to her, it wasn't polite to talk to someone important with you back to them. As she spoke again, her name was ariel and she made a disney joke. he just grinned and let a small chuckle escape him. "im dominik...." he thought for a moment as he remembered the ariel's story. "and i guess im your prince?" he laughed as he looked at her, that was probably not the best thing to say you dumb piece of log you. his mind yelled out in anger, but he didn't mind that, he knew he was a bit stupidly kind, after all, he was a gentleman, according to some.
once the water got shallow enough, he looked to her again and gave a small questionable face, he looked at her physique, and she looked exhausted. he wouldn't blame her, fighting drowning is tiring, he did it once as a kid, but his mother was there to save him, as it was in the family pool, embarrassing story really. he sighed and looked to her again, he rotated himself to be facing her, and now he slid his hands under her, he was intending to carry her, but only if she would sink into position, she still had the chance to walk herself.
the next thing his mind threw at him was, what are you doing, this is not the time to flirt.... true, it wasn't but she needed to be saved, and he did, so why not do it, its not like she will go crazy and fall in love with him and that would be the end of that? right? right.
just as long as he doesn't fall for any charms, or trips himself, mentally and literally, the rocks are too mossy.

. will melt your popsicle, if there was a word to describe ariel in that moment, it would have been delirious. or silly. but the point was that she was an even goofier version of herself. everything was exaggerated and colorful and she felt entirely overwhelmed. the boy seemed amused and she didn't know whether to take it as a good or a bad sign. ariel relied on signs too much. she was a very spiritual person, always looking for hidden messages or clues from god. a tiny grin lit up her features when he politely thanked her for her flimsy compliment. he was nice enough to laugh at her bad joke, so she decided he was perfect.
he was her eric starr. eric starr had been a boy she had made up with her friends back in texas during sixth grade. for her friends, eric starr always changed. sometimes he was a rowdy bad boy, or a certified genius who would do all their homework, or a musician who'd serenade them with song they'd written for them, and others he was just a sensitive boy who knew how to make homemade ice cream. however, it constantly surprised her friends that ariel's eric starr never changed. he was always tall, dark, and handsome guy with good manners, who was athletic and laughed at her jokes. and of course, that he was respectful of her decision to wait until marriage. as she grew up, she forgot about eric starr, and started dating real boys. it was weird for her to remember eric under the blazing sun after being saved by a total stranger.
"im dominik...." he seemed thoughtful. "and i guess im your prince?" ariel laughed, a harmony of high notes scattered up in the air. "actually, i'd be the prince seeing as i'm the one who almost died." she said even though she was incredibly pleased at his response. this was her very own fairytale. she'd always lived under redhead ariel's shadow and now things were different. being with dominik made her hopeful that she could pave a new road, start over, and write her own story. although, not literally since she hated writing. english was her worst subject, or maybe math. the truth was, ariel had never been built for academics. she never truly got them and she didn't understand why people made such a big deal out of them.
once the waters weren't so deep, he gave her a chance to walk, but ariel found that she liked being in his arms. she felt safe there. it was as if this weird place with cliques, meanness, and mysteries finally counted as home. she sank into his arms, looking up at him with a shy smile. "thanks for everything."

dominik couldn't help but keep a small smile as he now walked on to sandy beach floor, passing the wall of mossy rocks. he thought for a moment of how she reacted to him offering to walk, but she didn't react at all. he took this as a sign to carry her, which wasn't at all a problem, his muscles took the weight as gravity began to work as she went above the water line, his face had no reaction, neither did his pace. she was extremely light. he smiled to her and frowned as she replied to his prince charming comment rather, in a mixed way. but he didn't think about it too much.
once he was almost out of the water she spoke again, but in a soothing, more calm voice than before, he guessed she calmed down a bit. he just grinned and looked down "Oh dont worry about it." he smiled as he walked back to his little escape from the world, and where his stuff was. he then thought for a moment about ariel, her laugh was genuine, so that meant something? oh well it didn't matter, he had to stay alive and well, not lurk in the past with feelings or try and pry away at the internal meanings. once he got near it again he looked back down to her to check up on his 'catch of the day' so to speak.
"You want to lay down or something? I have a chair that you can use..."

. will melt your popsicle, there was a wall of mossy rocks that ariel felt it would be easy to get lost in if she walked directly into the lush green areas. they were somewhat magical and she was in a trance. the sky seemed to call out for her attention as well, an electric blue that pierced through her eyes like a pleasant dagger, carving its way into her innermost desires. the whole world seemed to be upside down, making itself more attractive and mysterious for her second chance at life. ariel felt extremely lucky but most of all she felt grateful that dom had given her this opportunity.
when she voiced her thoughts, he reacted modestly. "oh dont worry about it." it made her like him even more. he seemed to be occupied thinking about something (hopefully not a girlfriend) so ariel decided that for the first time she should close her mouth and let the conversation flow as it may. usually she had the burning need to make the topic focus on her or her interests. she always wanted the spotlight to shine directly on her, not leaving room for other people to get a chance at being the center of attention. the young girl usually did this by talking about scandalous things or inviting people to do things they weren't used to but there was something about that silent moment that put her restless tongue at ease.
then dom broke the silence and she found that she welcomed it. it was odd, it was as if this boy could do nothing wrong in her eyes. she figured being someone's hero could do that, but still, she kept an eye out for warning signs. boys who were too perfect also annoyed ariel. she had learned a little while ago that everyone had flaws, and those that seemed perfect usually hid the biggest ones.
"you want to lay down or something? i have a chair that you can use..." she batted her eyelashes, the picture of a stereotypical flirt. "yes, please!" it seemed as if her inner vow of silence had faded away so she continued speaking as she typically would have. "so dom, are you new too? or do you like going to empty beaches?" she questioned curiously.

as the little home away from home appeared, he couldn't help but think about his past, his old home and his family, what they would think of him now. they probably would be hysterically laughing at the fact he might be in love, or the fact that he was almost certain that he would be paid millions for his ability to play well in soccer. he snapped back to the present as she told him pretty much why the hell not, by then he was pretty much right next to the chair, he stood there and thought for a moment, with her in his arms.
before he could even think about anything, she batted her eyes at him when she said it, he wondered why, but he wouldn't think about it too much, it got him usually into some deeper messages that he wasn't really good at deciphering. once she spoke again, he realized that was a chance to say something back. he held a smile and replied "alittle bit of both i guess." he laughed as he set her down, but as he did his face was extremely close to hers, he froze in terror and slightly got more comfortable, he was pretty much on top of her, and if he wanted, he could kiss her and just finish the deal, but something was holding him back, he knew that if he was too quick, then things would be too fast for him to handle, but yet, if he held back...
but he wondered what she would do, if she would answer the call, if not then he would just pull away and they could relax by the beach and have a nice way to rebuild themselves, but for some reason, he wanted this kiss, he lusted for it. and as he lost hope, he started to pull away, ever so slowly, still in reach for her to lean up and take it.

. will melt your popsicle, "alittle bit of both i guess." his words hung in the air like still sirens, capturing a slice of that moment in time where everything seemed to slow down. the bright colors dulled slightly and the only thing holding ariel's attention was the proximity of his face and that soft melodious laughter escaping his defined lips. he seemed to feel it too, that shift of time, the break in the universe's flow. his body hovered over hers, a warm looming comfort that put her completely at ease yet at the same time filled her insides with hopeless panic. it was a sensation unlike any other. his lips were there as a temptation, tugging at her like a magnetic pull. he was the moon and she was the waves, impossibly fixated and crashing carelessly. she really thought he would close the short painful distance, if only to humor the romantic aspect of the moment but he didn't. as he started to pull away, ariel took matters into her own hands. or rather, her own lips. her body extended until her lips collided with his. there was light pressure coming from her mouth, almost none at all. she kept it soft, like a feather or a gust of wind, not wanting to take things so seriously. she had never been the first to kiss a boy and although it was exhilarating, it was mostly frightening. her heart was beating so fast she wondered if it was safe to kiss after such a close encounter with death. she had no idea how he would reach much less if he even wanted this. it just hadn't occurred to her to ask. she pulled away, her cheeks burning and her eyes shut even though she couldn't recall closing them. it was sink or swim but under the circumstances she felt it was more likely that she would sink. she was just a dumb cheerleader who cared too much. instead of letting him realize this, she took matters into her own hands.
her palm flew up almost instinctively and made an impact with the side of his face, leaving a pink mark in its wake. "how dare you?" she fumed as her mood quickly shifted. it was more of an act, an armor she put up to help her deal with the insecurities that plagued her. "i'm not some kind of slut. like, if you think i'll sleep with you just because you kind of saved my life, you're like, totally wrong! jesus saved my life first!" her eyes were wide and her voice was loud, breaking through the bubble they had been in. she tried to make eye contact with him, challenging the beautiful boy to contradict her.

dominik's heart sank as he began to pull away, what else would it do? but before he could think about it too much, bam right in the kisser. she did the honors and proceeded to do what he wanted to do. he enjoyed the moment, of course, who wouldn't. it was that moment of success that everyone will have in their life one day, some more than others. and as he savored it, he had gotten a bittersweet reply to how she felt about it. he couldn't really grasp what happened. but his cheek spoke loudly, and a slight stinging was not only in his cheek, but in his ears as well. he then had the chance to stand up and look down at her. catching her 'rant'.
"calm down, im not looking for that from you..." why did everyone think that? was it because he was attractive or something. she mentioned jesus and all he could do was smile, she was religious, which was... unique. and all he could do was say "i guess your right." with a small frown on his face as he sat down next to her in a nearby chair. he would just lay there until she got the strength to walk again, so he rolled over to face her, even though his cheek was still throbbing in pain.

. will melt your popsicle, ariel's heart pounded in her chest in anticipation for the boy's reaction to her outburst. on the outside, she was still with a slightly annoyed expression lingering on her face but on the inside she was still terrified. the sun was too hot. her entire body felt weak and her head was spinning for the couple of seconds of silence before he spoke. "calm down, im not looking for that from you..." what? her eyebrows went up in surprise. any other boy would have ran away or at least asked her what was wrong with her. then there was crushing disappointment. had he not liked the kiss? she had practiced a lot with pillows when she was younger and she had watched a few youtube videos on how to kiss. her exes had always liked everything she did back in texas. but maybe maryland was different. her face felt hot and everything was uncomfortable as she looked down, avoiding the glare of the merciless sun.
"i guess you're right." even though she wasn't looking at him, she felt him shift around and saw him sit though her peripherals. she wondered if he went to church and if maybe that was why he hadn't argued with her. or maybe she really was a terrible kisser. there was a knot in her throat as she pitied herself and the awkward situation. she didn't have anyone to talk to about this. her church friends would have never approved of her kissing someone she just met, it was weird talking about it with her family, and she was sure that everyone else just thought of her as a silly airhead. tears were threatening to spill but she didn't want them to. all she wanted was to disappear into the salty air and pretend this whole thing never happened.
she wished she was older and wiser so she could come up with something witty to add to the deafening silence, but there was nothing except for empty thoughts concerning her ruined hairdo. her hair was probably a mess. it would take her hours to untangle it. she sniffled and snuck a peak at the boy sitting next to her. he was probably wishing he had just let her drown. he was probably thinking about a taller prettier girl with hair that always looked perfect. she couldn't stand it any more. her legs felt like jelly as she got up. she felt sick and didn't think it was safe for her to be moving but anything was better than sitting there drowning in silence for one more minute.
"well, i should go." she shifted from one foot to another, fiddling with the strings of her bikini as she said goodbye.

he really liked the kiss he had shared just a few moments with her, he couldn't get himself wrong. but it was her reaction to his kiss that made him a bit skeptical about doing it again. and her whole outburst about jesus and him figuring out that she was religious would make it morally wrong for her to continue it. sure he would do it, nothing would hold him back from it, it was just he couldn't after her reaction to it.
but she looked a bit distressed, he probably had done more bad than good to be kissing her like that, right after he had saved her from a life/death situation. but she said that she should go and with that he quickly sat up. as much as he wanted her to stay, she needed to get home and rest. he as quickly as he sat up, he got up and spoke. "you need help getting home?" he paused "you dont look like you'll even make it to your car..." even though he didn't feel like she would say she needed help, she looked like she did.
jesus, please dont take this as an awkward request, but please make her trust me. he thought, maybe, maybe.
