life
most stories start off with the parents getting married and then deicing to have children. but in this case melissa and neil were only supposed to be a hook-up and nothing more. but instead she ended up getting pregnant with twin girls. both decided to get married and try to make things work because coming from a conservative family meant that was the only thing they could do. on may third they gave birth to two baby girls audrey and adriana. growing up adriana was always the one in charge and audrey didn't mind following her sister's footsteps. audrey had always been the quiet type even when she was young, her nose always in a book. she mostly kept to herself and didn't have many friends other than her twin sister. but she didn't mind things being that way because she was constantly lost in the next story she was reading. when she has turned ten she had decided that she wanted to be a writer so she could write books that people held close to their hearts. the books were just always better than what they were dealing with at home which was their parents constant fighting even though they tried to hide it from them. audrey was constantly imagining how her life would be if she was one of the characters in the books she was reading.
when they were eleven their father decided that he couldn't be there anymore so he packed up and was ready to go. adriana of course hung on to him to try and prevent him from leaving but it was futile. audrey on the other hand just stood and watched crying as her father left them to start a new family of his own. the courts had decided on a custody agreement so that they would spend every second weekend with their father. after a few years adriana stopped going but audrey still constantly visited her father but never at his new house. she couldn't stand to see his new family that he had decided was much better than they were.
then high school hit and everything seemed to take a change for the worse. her sister quickly went up the social ladder making friends quickly. audrey on the other hand was quickly classified as a nerd which she of course didn't mind. she never really cared what everyone thought about her but her sister was the complete opposite. before she knew it audrey's sister was the queen bee of the school and everyone seemed to be falling at her feet. it seemed as though adriana turned into a completely different person who seemed to do anything to stay popular. soon after high school had began their relationship had pretty much ended and they rarely were in each other's company. even though audrey was still constantly covering for her sister when she came home drunk and needed someone to take care of her. but adriana was her older sister she never minded being there for her. then all of a sudden adriana had gotten pregnant and had an abortion. somehow the entire school seemed to find out and her reputation was ruined and she fell from grace. audrey could tell how much it had hurt adriana to give away the baby but of course she was too proud to ever feel the need to ask for help no matter how much she needed it.but even after all this had happened adriana still wanted to be popular and was clawing her way to the top. audrey of course was just focused on school and attempting to avoid any type of drama that could get in her way. she had seen the things that came with being popular and how they had ruined her sister. there was no way she was going to repeat those mistakes.

she sat in class twirling her pencil in her fingers not really paying attention to what the teacher was saying. it was hard to hear what she was saying anyways because of the two girls in front of her were intensely spreading rumors about two boys that they thought were extremely attractive. audrey rolled her eyes as they both talked about what they had been wearing today as if it was important. she wondered if all girls talked as much as these two did. amy being the exception but she had always been a talker so it was to be expected. every day it was the same thing but the boys they talked about were constantly changing. sometimes it would be about some big party where these boys would be and they tried to figure out how to get their attention. audrey would feel sorry for whatever guys ended up with these girls because they would end up talking their ear off. the one thing that audrey would probably never understand would have to be how most girls worked. and listening to these two every day she wasn't sure he wanted to know how they worked because all they seemed to be was complicated. it seemed as though none of them cared about the fact that without the grades they wouldn't be able to get into a good school. she understood that relationships were important but they weren't a very high priority for her. which explains why she never had a boyfriend or had even been kissed. tapping her fingers impatiently against the desk she wanted this class just to be over even though lunch was next. but after that she only had two more classes before she could go home which was what she really needed. she had a big project he wanted to get started on so she could be finished by the end of the week. then she'd have more time to focus on other things. the bell rang and she slowly gathered his things as everyone else seemed to rush out of the room to the cafeteria. audrey reluctantly followed the crowd as she tried to avoid crashing into the people running past her.
audrey was not a fan of the cafeteria that was for sure. it was crowded and extremely loud. she already had her lunch that she had made at home so now all she had to do was find a place to sit. audrey normally ate lunch on her own unless amy was around which she really didn't mind because she always had a book with her to keep her entertained. her sister on the other hand was the complete opposite and always seemed to be surrounded by people and if not that people were constantly talking about her. now and then they would get mixed up but when the person actually took a second to really look at audrey it was obvious that she was not ade. they dressed completely different audrey mostly focusing on what was comfortable. everything about ade was interesting and fun so people couldn't help but be drawn to her. then came audrey who mostly just focused on school and trying to get into a good college. amy was always trying to bring her out of the sheltered bubble she lived in but it never really worked for very long. audrey kept telling herself that she didn't mind playing it safe all the time, it prevented her from getting hurt. though sometimes she couldn't help but wish that she were a little more loose with everything and not so caught up in school all the time. wish a sigh she pushed the thoughts out of her head and took a seat at one of the empty tables nearby her. taking out her lunch she began munching on a sandwich as she read a book for english, which she of course was many chapters ahead compared to the rest of the class.
