The crisp Maryland air was new to Lucas, especially because he hailed from the smoggy shit hole that was West Hollywood, California. The atmosphere was surreal - the people were friendly, the style was unique and very diverse and the people seemed to actually enjoy living here. It was so unlike the artificial, stuck-up, miserable people that hailed from Los Angeles; all vying for a chance at stardom and cutting anyone down in the process. Lucas was the product of his hometown - a victim who desperately wanted to get out of the black hole that most people fell into. He was still fairly new to this town, transferred right at the end of his junior year and already had multiple friends due to his social class. That was the only downfall of Manchester, the social divide. Not that it bothered Lucas much, he appreciated the idea of social class, so much in fact that he embraced it.
Lucas walked along the boardwalk, his hands thrust deep in the pockets of his green Abercrombie & Fitch jacket that he had bought after work earlier during the day. He admired the people walking by, noticeably stopping to check out the cute blond girls that wondered aimlessly around the boardwalk. It was refreshing to finally be alone and completely surrounded by strangers, although he wanted a companion to keep him company. He had to admit he was exhausted from constantly being surrounded by girls who practically threw themselves at him, especially since he had Case on his mind. It was so unlike Lucas, to have someone stuck in his head, especially a guy. Lucas was straight - at least he hoped he was straight. It wouldn't be good for his social standing if he even considered liking guys, even a kind and respectable guy like Case.
He continued to walk along the boardwalk, his left hand slowly tracing the railing as he paused when he arrived at a bench. The bench was rather small, about 3 feet in length, enough for two people to sit somewhat comfortably. He continued to study it for a moment before sitting down, his hand still resting along the bench. His eyes wondered for a minute, taking in all of the scenery that he hadn't noticed before. A smile pursed on his lips as he watched a little girl try to ride a bike. The innocence lifted Lucas, and make him feel warm inside. The little girl was scared and nervous, continually telling her dad not to let go. Of course the father was reassuring her he wouldn't, but Lucas knew what was going to happen. Soon enough she was riding on her own, her father laughing and sticking his chest out, proud that his daughter was finally able to do it.
Lucas pulled out his black iPhone and clicked on his instagram app, snapping a picture of the scene before applying multiple filters. He smiled to himself as he typed random mindless tags before posting it. He continued to sit there in silent, his eyes continually gazing at the scenery; hoping that someone, anyone would converse with him.

the static of your arms, it is a catalyst. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, height: 320px; width: 362px; background-color: #ffffff; border-radius: 20px 0px 0px 0px; border: solid 1px #c1bcbc,bTable] The boardwalk was such a great place to be. Casey loved it. He mostly enjoyed staying until the sun set, because the rides lit up and it was almost as if it were christmas and all the houses were decorated in lights. It was a celestial sight in his opinion. The boardwalk made him feel more childish than he already was. It might have been the games and rides or the amount of candy he could buy from all the stands. He had a craving for cotton candy today and hoped to find some in one of these stands. Case was use to coming around the boardwalk alone because he came quite often and he didn't want to beg for someone to come with him every single time he came. One week he just missed a few days of school just to spend time here with visiting relatives because he wanted them to see how amazing it was. Of course, they weren't as wowed as him. But they catered to his naiveness and let him believe they were having an amazing time. Most people catered to his ignorance.
Casey was lucky most girls found him adorable and most guys found him acceptable in the guy community since he was fairly well at sports. If not, who knows where he would've been on the social ladder. And just about everyone knows, he's not the brightest lad so defending himself would be an issue. But luckily, he's found himself a comfortable spot with the preps, who are all just happy to have him there. But then again, he was always so ignorant towards the social ladder and how it worked. The naive kid just sort of went along with it, not that he looks down on anyone. Quite the opposite, he enjoys just about anyone's company and even people with lower social status than his, find him wonderful to be around.
Looking around he had trouble deciding what he wanted to do first. There was the ferris wheel, the carousel, the other rides, games to play at. It was like a Casey-esque heaven. His eyes twinkled as he watched other people having fun and he just wanted to join in. He was so used to just having someone around with him, but Leonerd was off to Brazil, the place Casey assumed was in Europe. But he didn't mine being alone, sometimes. Casey could always stick up for himself, and thought of himself as strongly independent despite his long-lasting friendship with Leonerd. It was always a question whether he was actually independent or he leaned on his friend more than he realized. Guess he would find out soon.
Walking down the boardwalk, in the corner of his eyes he could see a cotton candy stand just waiting for his arrival. His nerves shook with excitement as he took a quick sprint to the stand and walked away with a little less money but more cotton candy. Taking a quick nibble of it, he looked up to see a very familiar face not too far away. On a small, petite bench, sat Lucas, a good friend of his. He wasn't sure if he was waiting for someone or here alone like Case was. It wouldn't hurt to ask would it? Making his way towards the guy who was busy with his iPhone, he spoke up some ten feet away from him. Hey Lucas! What are you here for?! His voice grew calmer the closer he came. Are you waiting for someone? He continued nibbling on his cotton candy., allowing a piece to hang out his mouth and then tipping it in with his thumb.

Something was serene about the boardwalk in which Lucas was sitting. Here he was free from the social restrictions that often barred and suffocated him on a regular basis. He was free - at least that was what he had hoped. Lucas hated that he put so much pressure on his popularity, often coming across as a douche bag because that was what he felt he needed to do to become a royal. He stared at the young girl once more, admiring how proud she was that she had finally learned how to ride a bicycle, his finger mindlessly chipping away at the old paint that coated the railing. The weather was nice, the sun was beaming brightly and more and more patrons filled the boardwalk. The corners of his mouth quirked upward as he reminisced about coming here at a young age, how majestic and pristine the sight was to him. He remembered the begging he had to do to convince his father to take him out to wonder the boardwalk and how much fun he had, most notably, how happy Lucas was when he was here.
Hey Lucas! What are you here for?! Lucas jumped, completely snapping back into reality as the familiar sound spoke to him. Turning slightly to his left, Lucas couldn't help but beam as he seen Case, one of his close friends, who was standing a good ten feet away. "Hey Case." he answered, the smile still caked on his face as he admired the boy. "Just thought I'd get away for a bit." It was true, it was good to get away. Lucas surveyed the boy, his eyes hesitant to make contact which struck Lucas as odd since he normally didn't have a problem with confidence. Case was a tad naive, a childish and innocent soul that Lucas often admired. In many ways they were two completely different beings - Lucas was the sarcastic tool who many people loathed, while Case was a friendly gentlemen who most people adored. "Nope, all alone today. Come sit." he asserted, sliding over a bit to make room on the petite bench, his hands neatly folded on his lap.
The fact that Lucas already had Case in mind before he randomly appeared stuck him as funny. He shifted a bit in his seat, glancing up at the boy once more, watching intently as the boy slowly devoured his cotton candy. The fresh aroma from the various food stand entered his nose and filled him with happiness. There he was in the one place that he enjoyed more then anything, with a friend that he, in many ways, looked up too. He was happy, happier perhaps then he had been in a while. He looked at the pier for a moment, his lip curled as he thought in silence for a moment. "How are you doing mister?" he inquired with a chuckle, his voice soft as his eyes continued to gaze the pier. "No Leo today?" He knew that Leo and Case were best friends, at least that was what he had gathered from multiple chat sessions with the two. Lucas never knew Leo aside from when he was with Case, and made little effort to get to know the other guy, but he knew that Leo was an important figure in Case's life. He glanced back at the boy as he said this, his attention once again fully directed at Case as he awaited his response.

the static of your arms, it is a catalyst. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, height: 320px; width: 362px; background-color: #ffffff; border-radius: 20px 0px 0px 0px; border: solid 1px #c1bcbc,bTable] Running into Lucas here was a fun twist of events. Despite the fact that he viewed himself as an independent individual, he was yearning for some company tonight. After all, he couldn't really enjoy himself at the boardwalk alone as much as he would with company. Or at least, he hoped Lucas would join him. If not, maybe Case could just convince his good friend to do so. Looking at the other boy get startled by Case's sudden appearance, he couldn't help but let out a small giggle. A giggle that only a Casey Smith could let out. He admired all of his friends equally. And he may have been a ditz but he knew how to differentiate his closer friends from the ordinary ones, because there was a hue difference in the way they treated him. And to be honest, he considered Lucas one of those closer friends despite his persoanlity towards other people. Case never caught sight of that because he was too baffled by the amount of attention that was given to him by so many people including Lucas and especially Lucas. He just didn't seem like the type of person who would take to anyone, but Case was an exception along with a few others he was sure.
Oh yeah. Same. There isn't really much to do at my house because...well I've done practically everything I can,he sighed. Case was easily entertained, but usually desperately bored with most things so easily as well. Despite his dim mind, yes he was a complex human being with feelings of his own, and when people never realized this, it hurt him a lot. Hence, his lack of a relationship with his parents. They just let the personal chefs, nannies, maids, butlers, etc. deal with all of their parental duties. He was sure they wouldn't know his birthday if it weren't for the invention of the iPhone calendar. His big round eyes glanced at his feet and then back at his friend's.
Oh yeah of course! I'd love to! his perked voice didn't stutter as he sat his tush next to Lucas with a smile. He turned his head, placing his head on his hand, and his helpings propping up on his knees. Well it's been boring so I came here hoping to have some fun. The boardwalk never fails me. How about your's? And it was true. The boardwalk was Casey's getaway. No one could really take it away from him. Sometimes, he just liked to come here and think about things. Yup, Casey was able to actually think for himself despite the rumors that went around the school.
No, Leo's on vacation at Brazil. I think it's in South America. The mailman explained it to me, he said almost proud that he knew where it was. He didn't know where in South America or that Brazil was the largest country in South America, but he prided himself when he learned something knew because not many people expected that from him and when you did something against someone else's expectations, well that was just heart-warming. Did you plan on riding the rides or just sitting here because I kinda wanted to do some fun stuff? If you wanted to join me. he suggested with the fake puppy eyes and the pushed up lips of adorableness that he hoped would so happen to sway Lucas into joining him. It will help a lonely person in need... he added in the last moment.

"trust me, i know the feeling." lucas admitted, his blueish green eyes twinkling a bit in the sunlight as he watched a few passersby walk by, a cool breeze slowly blowing around him. lucas hated being at home especially since he was surrounded (and often smothered) by his mother. his father, christopher, owned his own law firm in upstate new york and often spent time traveling with clients. lucas figured that he was off having an affair somewhere since he rarely made it home. his mother, elaine, was a stay at home mom who strived for attention especially from lucas. while he should have embraced the fact that his family was indeed functional, he wanted more. so we set out to explore the greater aspects of manchester such as the boardwalk. "i love it here." he admitted, his eyes scanning the area, notably gazing toward the food stands and the soft aroma of the food carts. "greasy food, interesting people, all of the best rides manchester has to offer, plus it's a great place to get away from everyone." lucas had to admit that it was nice having case around.
lucas let out a soft chuckle as case spoke about leo's whereabouts, admiring how cute case was as he spoke, a heart-warming smile crept on his lips. "im proud of you." he said innocently, knowing full well that case was excited that he learned something knew. truth was, lucas knew very little about brazil or south america but it was mainly because he slept during his classes. he was proud of case and sensed the excitement the boy felt as he spoke of leo's whereabouts. "when did he leave?" he inquired, his voice raised slightly as he looked up at the boy once more. something about the boy intrigued lucas, but he couldn't quite but his finger on it. he sensed feelings for the boy that he hadn't felt for another but couldn't quite make heads or tails of it. bringing his hand to his head, he scratched his head as he began to speak once more. "i don't know." he teased, his voice seemingly playful, "maybe i need more convincing with that." he continued, the smile on his face growing bigger and bigger. he placed his hand on the knee of his counterpart for a moment, his greenish eyes locked onto his friend. "of course i'll join you. only if you come with my to get a bite to eat first." and with that he stood up and held his hands out to help his buddy up.
it's perfectly alright. i've been totally MIA lately, and besides. take your time. |

the static of your arms, it is a catalyst. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, height: 320px; width: 362px; background-color: #ffffff; border-radius: 20px 0px 0px 0px; border: solid 1px #c1bcbc,bTable] Casey smiled. At least he wasn't alone tonight. He could see the night settle as the sun brgsn to smoothly slide it's way down the horizon. It was a shame you could never see the stars with all the lights that decorated and outlined most of the rides. So instead of stars, he had an artificial source of light, which was just as good in Casey's opinion because bright lights were just bright lights after all. No need to complicate reality. His rather silky eyelashes flickered up and down every time he blinked, revealing his glossy brown eyes everytime they opened once more. He managed to catch eye contact with Lucas, who smiled. Of course, the only reasonable thing to do for Casey was to flash a wickedly goofy grin back. And when he did, it gave attention to his smooth cheeckbones and his thick eyebrows rose with a sudden perk in them. So basiclaly, Casey Smith looked like a wide-grinned goofball with a bit too much caffeine in his system. His left hand ruffled with his own hair--he didn't bother to deal with it before he left the house. So it was very tethered mess of crooked strands that flowed to the left across his head and some that fell over his forhead, hanging low as if trying to stretch into his view.
He was able to take the view in of the boardwalk and enjoy it. The people looked as excited as he did and the sparkle in his eyes lit up everytime he heard the cheers after someone victoriously got to pick out a prize or the screams sourced by adrenaline rushes as rollercoasters were in motion. oh....well those look exciting, don't they? not really sure what lucas was trying to say by his comment, he just continued the conversation like he usually did, his eyes travelling with the rides as they spun around. every twist and turn they coasters made, casey's glossy brown eyes made. and yeah this place is amazing! it makes me feel like a kid again. the irony being that casey still was a kid in the most innocent sense of it. he didn't really have his own brain because people always thought for him in life and he had no role models to look up to and tell him he was his own person and he could very well stick up for himself. everything in life had been given to him. at least, he never complained and rarely did anything to hurt people, right? yeah that was a plus. hm yeah, it is! i think like if jesus made a heaven it would look like this but with like beds to sleep on and a lot more cotton candy. and more cookies. and then they'd have like a soccer field somewhere. and i could do whatever i wanted and loved to do. though casey didn't have much against mnachestarians, he just agreed. no one ever bothered casey's peace of mind because casey lived in his own universe twenty-four seven.
thank you! you're the first person to tell me that so far since i've told people i knew where brazil was. apparently it's huge too. his face lit up like the lights on the rollercoaster of pride. at least someone noticed his wit. he didn't leave too long ago. but he'll be gone for a while. casey nodded. he was smiling at lucas smiling at case smiling. it was a smile marathon and they were tied so far. he was having fun, and lucas was being so supportive and helpful. case could at least pick out his friends, right? He had at least that much sense. he wasn't a dead log after all. more convincing...uhm I don't know how to make any other cute faces if that one was cosnidered cute. he smiled. oh well in that case, then yes! whoops, I said my name again. maybe we'll find a cookie! he took lucas's hand and leaped up, let his hand slide out of lucas's and walked next to him.
thanks for spending time with me, again. usually i come here alone and it's nice to have company. he strided across to the concession stands at least one foot ahead of lucas at all times. casey was always too excited to stay at a slow pace. he was used to mainting a quick, fast pace. it was just the child instinct in him. he looked at the menu and they did sell cookies. excited he ran up to order. i'll have two cookies please! he then turned his head back to lucas. hurry lucas! you're a slowpoke. he took his own wallet out of his pocket and waited for his cookie and waited for lucas. | [/style] |

"oh, of course they do!" he replied, a toothy grin following as he looked up at the roller coaster case's eyes were fixated on. "let's go right it! please! it'll be fun." the childhood nostalgia filled him with joy every time he stepped foot onto the boardwalk. the bright florescent lights, the fresh aroma of the food, the soft melody of the music and the overall excitement from the patrons filled lucas with joy. "i know right! i feel like im twelve years old all over again!" he said, a childish giggle following his words which shocked even lucas. the memories he had while at the boardwalk flooded his head causing his lips to quirk upward in happiness. he allowed his eyes to wonder his surrounding, soaking in everything he potentially could. it was almost as if he was storing the pictures in his brain like photos to an album. his attention focused back to case as he spoke, a rather loud chuckle left lucas' lips as case spoke. "oh my god. i wish. then people could enjoy the boardwalk in the afterlife, and have all the cotton candy and cookies they wanted!" an approving nod following his rather excited response.
"what did you send him?" he asked. he was still unsure about where brazil was in the world, however he'd never actually admit that. school wasn't his thing. he just didn't care enough to apply himself. he was getting into college based on the fact that he had money and he sure as hell wasn't going to complain with that. until then, he needed to just relax and enjoy the time he had while in manchester. lucas nodded and blushed a bit as case caught him smiling at the boy. as far as case, or anybody for that matter knew, lucas was as straight as an arrow. he was a ladies man who often had rumors spread about him. yet there was case who gave him butterflies whenever he was around. lucas changed whenever case was present. and he didn't even know why. he couldn't like guys, he just couldn't. "well you are good at making cute faces." he responded, hating himself almost immediately after the words left his lips. part of him hoped that case didn't interpret it in the way that lucas meant it. the other half hoped that he appreciated the compliment that lucas had shared. if anyone was good at keeping secrets, it was case though.
"no problem buddy." he began, his tone playful and sincere. "i really really enjoy spending time with you." and it was true. he genuinely liked case's company. something about the pure childish innocence that case had gave lucas hope for changing. instead of being the pompous dick that he was, perhaps hanging out with casey would allow him to react to people like he did case. he followed case, his footsteps slower then the lightning pace that case was traveling at. he studied the boy and smirked as he turned around long enough to call him a slowpoke. really? did case just call him a slowpoke? "im coming, im coming, hold your horses" he snorted with a laugh. he jogged up toward the boy and casted his hand over his shoulder. he looked at the cookies and smiled, the fresh chocolate smell raised to his nostrils filling him up with joy.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, height: 320px; width: 362px; background-color: #ffffff; border-radius: 20px 0px 0px 0px; border: solid 1px #c1bcbc,bTable] the crowds only got thicker as the sun set and casey basked in the admiration, wanting to be in the frenzy himself. not that he was in a rush to, sitting with lucas was just as satisfying minus the adrenaline rush. easily amuse, his eyes would jump from on view to another. you wanna ride it, too? a smile in lucas's direction, the company of the evening. sweet! we totally should. the white smile never withered, even when he turned his head back to the scene. what a beautiful night it was turning into. dusk was approaching and casey planned on making tonight memorable. only because if leo knew that casey could do some things on his own, maybe his best friend wouldn't feel so bothered by casey's incessant questioning, gulibility, or blankness of the mind. casey was so open-minded but at the price of losing maturity to such a degree that it bothered some. well maybe we are still kids. i mean, sixty-year-olds probably think we are. he giglged along with lucas. the gloss in casey's eyes reflecting the lights of the amusement park, and the setting sun sliding down the horizon. wonderful view and perfect company. i was trying to send him a letter asking how to make cookies cause i did something wrong and mine came out gloppy. he almost grimaced, but didn't really want to ruin the whole cute charade, so he just satisfied with a toothy, goofy smile.
well you are good at making cute faces.
he then curved his lips, closing them as to not let a fly in. he was quick-paced heading to the concession stands. even if hurdles were places in front of him, if he had to, he's jump over them with such finesse. as he ordered, he impatiently stood there, waiting for lucas the slowpoke (also a pokemon). his eyes glittered in his direction, holding two cookies. the ironic thing being, casey originally planned on eating both of them, until he remembered he had company tonight. losing a cookie was okay as long as it was to someone worthy enough and so far, lucas had proved his worth. how? he was understanding of casey and didn't seem to pick at casey's ignorance toward some things. which showed the boy cared about casey, and although it was easy to earn casey's trust, lucas went the hard route by actually taking time to know him. similar to leo, but of course he hadn't known the former quite as long. but by coincidence, casey was given a night to get closer to lucas, and so he would. nothing tickled casey more than being able to call someone a close friend. he didn't have many of them anyway.
says the slowpoke he responded as lucas grew closer into earshot. casey smiled as he handed over one of the cookies. it was still warm, and soft, and about two thumbs in diameter. taking a bite out of his, smooth chocolate chips kissing those white teeth of his, he grumbled with the cooking in his mouth, what do you think of it? casey didn't try too much to cover up the chocolate goop in his teeth. i love spending time with you, too. you're nice to me. and you're willing to go out there. really, i wish leo would do that sometimes, but he's always not wanting to. but i guess that's why you're here, right? but not the only reason of course!
without hesitance, he immediately grabbed lucas's arm and tugged him along. now we have a ride to go on and i'm not letting you slow us down from getting in line, slowpoke. he took another bite of his cookie, while pulling lucas along, leading the way towards the lights, he had been so awed by.
