i can live without you but without you i'll be miserable at best Each mindless step that Camden took had a story begging to be told. Cam often opted to keep those stories locked up along with all of the other secrets stored in his mind's cellar. It was better that way because it protected people from knowing the real him, as well as protecting himself from knowing people in general. It was nearly sundown and Cam had arrived to the park reluctantly at first although he knew he had nowhere else to go. Since he moved to Manchester, Cam hadn't met anyone worth his time. The people here were stuck up and too absorbed in their lavish lifestyles to bother communicating with Cam. It was far different then living in Cedar Rapids. There it was a small town where everyone knew everyone, often allowing the police to capture culprits when crimes were committed. People in Cedar Rapids couldn't keep a secret if their lives depended on it. People just did not know how to shut the fuck up. The police usually continued on their game, making crime scarce in town. Not always of course. It wasn't that he couldn't fit in to a town like this, it was the fact that he didn't want too. Cam had practically begged his mom to move. Forget the fact that it was his senior year. It was better that way. Secrets were meant to be buried, and his was going to stay in the ground at any cost.
Cam trudged over toward the park's playground and reluctantly hopped on to the play structure, only to take a seat on the wooden step. For a second he admired the scenery around him, mainly because he had never seen such a sight. It sun was a gorgeous orange and yellow haze and the clouds came across as pink and creamy, only bringing a smile to his lips. It was peaceful without all of the rambunctious kids roaming around, terrorizing everyone that crossed their paths. Cam closed his eyes for a moment to gather his thoughts as he stood up and made his way toward the rusty looking swing set. With a plop he sat down on the light blue seat and placed his hands firmly on the cold metal chains. The cold from the chains swarmed Cam's body giving him a tingling sensation like no other. It was a relaxing time. The only thing that could ruin it (and irritate him in the process) is someone approaching him.
Cam sat there mindlessly, his body rocking slowly in an almost rhythmic pattern that reminded him alot of a night he'd recently had. A night that he would much rather forget. It was a one time thing and I got away with it, its not a big deal Cam...c'mon you can do this, he thought as he pursed his lips together. Cam continued to gaze around as he swung silently on the park, his long legs occasionally hitting the wood bark that lined the parks floor, muttering "shit!" every time it happened. Yeah, Cam was extremely bored.

[/style] [atrb=border,0,true] Jaylee just had to get out. She had been cooped up at her computer all day and on top of that stupid Lucas had pissed her off once again. For once this was the last straw. She was not going to run right back into his douchey arms just because she needed someone to fulfill her need to make-out. Nope this time she was really done which was fine with her. School was going to be starting soon anyways and if she was still hanging out around him someone was likely to figure out, or worse he would plaster it all over the school. So after lacing up her Converse she grabbed her sunglass, mostly out of habit, and was out the door. She placed the Ray-Bans on top of her head knowing it was soon going to be too dark. The sticky Maryland air surrounded her body as she made her way in any direction that put distance between her and her home. She didn’t exactly know where she was headed, but she knew that wherever she was going it was better than the four walls that had held in her crazy.
She felt at her pocket for her phone, soon realizing that that was the one thing she had forgotten to grab. It was probably better that she didn’t have it though. No way for people to contact her to try and convince her that make-up sex is the only way to go. She rolled her eyes once more at the thought of the guy she had been associating herself with all summer. She huffed as she continued walking, coming upon the park. It was eerily empty. Well except for one guy she saw in the distance. As she approached him, hoping it wasn’t some psycho, she realized that it was Cam. A small smile crossed her face. She got along well with Cam. He seemed to be one of the few guys in the popular group who wasn’t a total player douche. She had met him when the summer had started and he had just moved here and she already knew they would get along.
‘Hey there stranger.’ She hadn’t really seen him since the first time she had met him. She took the swing next to his and tried to stretch her short legs to touch the ground. ‘Hope I’m not disturbing you.’ Jay totally understood that sometimes people needed their alone time. Heck, she had left her home at first to get that. She just so happened to run into Cam and wouldn’t mind getting her thoughts off of everything that had just happened.

i can live without you but without you i'll be miserable at best He continued to sit there, his body mindlessly rocking with the swing as he continued to be lost in thought. Despite being popular and having the plethora of girls willing to throw themselves at him, Camden couldn't bring himself to do anything with anyone. Maybe it was the fact that he felt that he was only being used because of his popularity status and the fact that he was going to college on a scholarship. His feet hit the ground once more, forcing him to slowly come to a halt as he looked out in the darkness. It was nothing like him to take a late night stroll through the park, but today was different. Today, he had a lot to think about and problems that needed to be contemplated for the sake of sanity. He tightened his hands around the cold metal chains of the swing and ducked his head down - his eyes sealing tightly as he tried to erase the scene from his head. It was something like this that could potentially ruin his college career before it began, and he was determined to keep it a secret. Letting out a soft sigh, he opened up his eyes once more only to be greeted by the darkness.
In the distance a figure was approaching camden. he looked out cautiously, praying that it wasn't some thugs looking for trouble but let out a sigh of relief when jaylee popped out into the hardly dimmed area of the playground. "oh hey." he said with a smile as he stood up to embrace her. he had never officially met jaylee outside of random times, and camden had to admit it was nice to see a familiar friendly face especially in a time like this. he smiled at her once more as he sat back down in the swing, his hands once again returning the the cold metal chains. "no, not at all. sit down." he said, his hand motioning toward the other swing as he slowly rocked himself. "having a good night, or just out here thinking?" he questioned the girl, his eyebrow curled slightly as he focused his attention on the girl. she seemed different, at least initially to camden. she did not seem like one of the preppy and stuck up preps that he often came in contact with, instead appeared to be just like camden - a simple soul who happened to have wealth and social standing on their side. camden didn't let things go to his head like many of his male counterparts,

[/style] [atrb=border,0,true] Jaylee loved that she was out when the town was basically dead. It never seemed like it was like this. Probably because people were always busy doing something. Tonight just seemed peaceful though and that was exactly what she needed. She could already feel herself start to relax over the whole argument. That in no way meant that she was going to go running back to the slob, but at least she could let go. She had been trying to for a while, but somehow found herself running back to his slimy arms. Jay sighed trying to push the whole thing out of her mind. If she could have one of those cool Men In Black mind eraser things to just build in new memories for the past few months she would have been ok with that. Jay tried to turn her thoughts to more important things, like her summer reading that she had yet to finish. She worked on it a bit each day, but she hadn’t quite finished yet. She needed to do well on it because if she let her grades even slip a little then goodbye Harvard, hello some mediocre school that her parents probably wouldn’t even help her pay for. Her dad had been talking about her going to Harvard since she had entered school and there was no way that she was going to do something to make her parents look down on her.
She smiled a bit as she took the swing next to him. Jaylee thought Cam seemed like a really cool guy. Even though she hadn’t really hung out with him as much as she would have liked she knew that she liked the guy. He seemed to be more like her than most of the people who were higher up on the social food chain. She appreciated knowing she wasn’t the only one like this. Although sometimes she feared that not being as catty or whore-ish as some was going to get her bumped out one day and then where would her connections for Harvard come from? Nowhere, that’s where. ‘Just thinking. Ya know clear my head and all.’ Jaylee shrugged. She didn’t really care to go into more detail than that. Of course her brain was rattling off the list of things that were on her mind. She was pretty sure that Cam didn’t care much anyways, and it wasn’t like Jaylee was one of those girls to share her life story to someone she barely knew. She barely even shared her thoughts and things of that manner to her closest friends. Jax was probably the only one that knew everything there was to know about Jaylee. Then again they had known each other since they were born basically. Although Jaylee had known Chase that long and didn’t seem to tell her nearly as much. Jay wiped the thought out of her brain and rested her cheek against the cold metal as she looked at Cam. ‘What about you?’

i can live without you but without you i'll be miserable at best camden rocked silently in the darkness, his hands clasped tightly around the cold metal of the chains as he starred out to the shadows. he had to admit it was refreshing having a familiar face beside him, although he didn't exactly knew what it was that brought the two together. he dug his feet into the soft brown bark and began to form a shallow hole. something about the night bothered camden, so having someone accompany him made him feel much better about his situation. he looked over at the girl and studied her for a moment, seeing her soft face glowing radiately in the light overhead. he had heard about jaylee from one of his friends, lucas. although camden didn't really mind lucas, he of course was someone camden respected out of necessity. lucas was popular, he was popular. not that camden cared much about where he stood in the popularity scale, he didnt care at all, but reputation was something that kept people interested in talking to him. sure camden was a nice guy, but without being a jock he would have been a nobody. he blamed his shyness and his lack of partying.
he coughed slightly, his eyes cast back to the shadowy darkness of the park. "trust me i know the feeling." he admitted, his eyes making his way back toward the girl. as awkward as it should have been for two strangers to randomly communicate, he had to admit he was comfortable around jaylee. something about her intrigued camden. he liked that she was comfortable with herself and had paid no attention to her social standing. she was mildly attractive and seemed to genuinely want to get to know cam. he smiled once more. "you know, the same. had a rough day at practice." he said softly, his head slightly wincing as he replayed the scene in his head. he had went to practice only to hurt the teams best player during a box out drill. the boy went down, screaming in pain, the screams still affecting camden as he stood there silently. how could he have reacted? he didnt mean too. he was just playing, and he potentionally ruined this kid's chances of ever playing sports again. sure, it improved camden's chance and brought out camden as the star player, but he didn't want to hear the talks. the "he did it on purpose" or the "he wanted to take over his role". it wasn't the case. he was just playing. and he felt miserable. "long story. ugh. but it is a nice night." he said gloomily, his hand pointing up the the stars.

[/style] [atrb=border,0,true] Sometimes Jay didn’t understand how she got roped into being a prep. She guessed it was because she had grown up with most of the people in the clique. They all were born with silver spoons in their mouths. She had known most of them since they were in preschool. They all learned to swim together and how to spell. They were all in tennis lessons and dance together. They all had found ways to stay entertained at their parents events. Even when you didn’t get along with someone well there was an unspoken code between the children of the rich adults. There were of course people in her little clique who she didn’t like, Lucas Reid being the biggest one, but still there was a part of her that knew if something happened to one of them she would be there for any of them. True she wasn’t friends with all of them, but it was the rich kid unspoken code. Your parents getting divorced? The only people who really understand are the people who also have two rich parents and went through it.
Jay let out an awkward laugh with a shake of her head. There were so many things running through her mind. There was the whole thing about how she needed to get out of whatever she had with Lucas. And then the fact that she was pretty sure her mom was having an affair. Her dad was going to find out sooner or later. ‘Oh practice for what?’ Jay recalled knowing that Cam played sports, but she wasn’t sure what it was. Something that had slipped her mind. Jay understood what he meant by long story. She could probably spend hours going on and on about what was going on in her life at that moment, but she chose to keep it all in. ‘Ya. Hey at least we’ve got that going for us.

i can live without you but without you i'll be miserable at best having a girl like jaylee to join him during a time like this was perhaps something camden needed. he did not know jaylee too well other then small talk at the country club or in the school chat site, but he considered her someone he wanted to get to know more. as far as he could tell, jaylee was very similar to himself - not falling in to the sucking vortex that was the preps, opting for earning everything they owned rather then having it handed to them. that was the problem with manchester. everyone had a status to maintain. you had to be careful with who you considered friends because the people here would stab you in the back the first chance they got if it meant they would get a boost in popularity. often the preps didn't make friends, nor did they have friends in the group. they were brought together by money and by the fact that they grew up together, going to the same private schools and summer camps. camden rolled his eyes at the lack of real people here at manchester, but alas, this was his home.
the idea of college enticed camden to do better, and he knew that basketball was the only way he could get out of this hell hole. it was his life. sure, he received mostly A's in his classes, but in the eyes of his father it was never good enough. unlike most of the boys at manchester who would be given the reigns of whatever business their fathers owned, camden either had to earn his spot or come up with money on his own. his father, as much of a good man as he was, wanted camden to earn it. he leaned against the cold metal chain, his eyes fluttering shut momentarily as he nodded to himself. "basketball." he replied, his voice showing a hint of pain as he reminisced the gruesome scene at practice. "scott adams? You know him?" camden asked, his voice somewhat shaken. scott was manchester's golden boy, a standout athlete who could have went to just about any university in the world on his basketball skills alone. "well, because of me he isn't going to be playing basketball for a long time." camden looked up at her once more, a sense of pain visible in his eyes as he looked at her. "what about you? no one comes to the park this late because its a nice night, but if you don't want to talk we don't have too." it was right, camden didn't want to prod in her life. being the guy camden was, he wanted to help or be that guy who lended an ear whenever one was needed. he genuinely cared about people, and jaylee (despite being a stranger) was no different. something was bothering her, cam knew it but he didn't want to force it out of her. he pursed his lips for a moment as he awaited for her response. words 512 tagged open notes none |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style, background-color: #423c42;,true][cs=2] & YOU'RE NOT EVEN HUMAN ` YOU'RE JUST A LOVELY IDEA OF ONE WHO I ACCIDENTALLY LOVED AND GAVE EVERYTHING TO BECOME THE GIRL ON THE PIANO BENCH SINGING ALL OF HER TEARS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - away | [atrb=width,240] There was something different about Cam than the other guys in the popular group. Most of them were totally tools, but Jay could tell that Cam genuinely cared. It wasn’t like she knew the boy well enough to spill her guts to him. No she didn’t even spill her guts to Chase who was one of her closest friends besides Jax. Jax really was the only one who knew everything that was going on in her life. Jay was just a really closed off person and hated venting to random people. There really were only those few special people who she let entirely in. Jax was the top one. Chase was close to being one of those people since she had known the girl as long as she had known Jax, but for some reason she couldn’t bring herself to let Chase know about what she had figured out about her mother. No that would stay in the family and since Jax was practically family, her dad often said that he was the son he never had, he was allowed in on the secret.
Jay gave a small nod as he said basketball. Now that he mentioned it she had known that. She had been to a few games, dragged there by various friends who wanted to support whoever was on the team. Basketball had never been her sport, but she couldn’t deny that she had fun watching the Manchester team play. ‘Ya I know the name.’ She had never talked to the boy, but the name had passed by her in conversation a few times. Maybe Kate had said something about him. It didn’t really matter who said it, just that she knew who he was. ‘Oh frick that sucks. What happened? I’m sure it was an accident.’ Jay was more than aware that accidental sports injuries happened all the time. She had actually played soccer her freshman year and thanks to a horrible tear in her ACL she wasn’t allowed back. She was thankful every day that she was still able to play tennis at least. It was her sport and those few months of not being able to play it almost killed her. If it had been taken away from her for good she probably would have lost sight of the point of life because tennis had become her life even if she didn’t play competitively any more.
Jay bit her lip as the conversation turned to focus on her. ‘Um…there’s just a lot going on ya know. School. Boys. Family. The usual things.’ She really didn’t feel like going into the details. She bit her bottom lip a little harder as she felt the pressure of tears well up. She wasn’t going to cry in front of this boy. Jay didn’t cry, especially in front of people. Things had just become so crazy lately that she just had no other way to deal with it. She gulped back the lump in her throat and forced a smile on her face. ‘Nothing I can’t handle, ya know.’ Right, because downing a bunch of wine every night was a great way to handle things. | [atrb=width,140]words ,526 tagged ,camy-wamy outfit ,clickynotes ,longest post all night. congrats | [cs=2] |
