hey! i know reading this sucks and all, but stick with it. you'll see there's no code on your app to prove you read the rules! that's because you can choose not to read the rules if you don’t want to, but you will still be punished for breaking them so why not just get it over with?
joining please do not harp us about reading your application. we have lives too(ha right)and we will get to your application asap. it shouldn't be longer than a few days at most. we know your app is there... trust me. also, there is a character limit on nrfm. you may not use your characters until they're accepted. that includes games, icc and posting. you are allowed to create five characters and no more. if you want to create more than five characters, you get to private message maggie on this account and staff will decide. i know we have character hogs (like myself) but i'm not going to have any more people with seventeen characters who use two. it’s not fair to anyone. also, oh, my, god, if you do not fill out your claims we will have big problems. just do it. if you don't fill out a face claim and someone else comes along and wants the face claim you're using, they get it hands down, not my problem.
roleplaying there is a three hundred word count, make sure your posts are at least three hundred words. over that limit is obviously fine. if someone writes you a 1,000 word post please don’t disrespect them by responding with 300 words. i'd really appreciate it if you guys took the time to code your posts. at least add a blockquote and justify tag to it to make it look neat and trim. i don't care if you write in first, second, or third person, but if you're writing in first or second, you must clear it first with the person you're roleplaying with. please proofread your posts before posting them. no smut on-site, it breaks proboards rules so take it to private message or somewhere else.
chatboxes you can have animated icons as long as they're fairly short. please use an icon if you're on a computer. i get that we sometimes are on our phones and get lazy and don't want to find an icon, but if you're on a computer get an icon, it looks nicer. also, do not chat as anyone but yourself or your characters. don't go in the occ and pretend to be another member, you'll get banned from the chat. also, don't go in the occ as a character... hence the occ, not icc. don't go in icc and pretend to be another character that isn't yours, you'll get banned. we use the icc as basically a functioning chat room. when your character logs on, you must put a message like: has signed on with italics tags like so: [ i ]has signed on[ /i ] minus the spaces. same thing with when they sign off. your character can also be idle, away, or invisible. there are no status changes on the icc. your characters cannot see things posted in the chat before they logged in or after they logged out. they can see messages while invisible, idle, or away. if you would like to make a comment out of character while in the icc, you must put it in (( double parentheses )) or [ brackets ] or something. anything in [ s ]strikeouts[ /s ] can be seen by members only - it can not be seen by the other characters in the chat. these are for character thoughts, etc. strikeouts cannot be seen by other characters. you can also private message in the icc - just put a message like [ i]pm jenny[ /i ] and then your message. these can only be seen by the sender and the recipient. do not flood the icc with out of character blabbering, you'll be banned. if you really need to have a conversation, take it to occ or aim or msn or whatever. just not the icc. it's very inconsiderate.
graphics do not go outside the size restraints. i mean, you can, but i'll just take your avatar/signature/offending image off without telling you until you fix it. no nudity (models in lingerie is fine). you can use animation in moderation. if you would like me to make you a gif to put above your avatar, private message me. maximum size for avatars is 150w x 300h. maximum size for signatures is 500w x 400h. if you put a image header on the top of your threads, please keep in mind the maximum header width is 500 pixels. because we have right sidebars, it's very important you abide by the signature widths or the board will get all funky because it will stretch very easily if you go over 500 and then everything will look weird. don't stretch the page, it's annoying. also, with the avatars, seriously guys, 150w maximum. proboards states that they will resize it but that often doesn’t work and then your graphics stretch the page. please just do it yourself or get someone else to do it for you, don’t depend on proboards.
activity there will very rarely be actual activity checks, because in the past people complained about them. to solve this, i wil only be doing activity checks every once in a while. but this comes with a consequence: admins can delete inactive accounts whenever they please without warning. inactive is defined as follows: either one, you have not logged your character in for one week, and you have not posted an away message, or two, you have not posted a legitimate roleplay post with your character for three weeks without an away message. again, if this is the case and we feel like deleting you we will without warning. If you decide to come back, you must get approval from the admins to have your account reinstated. all old threads/posts/apps will be saved and can be recovered if this is the case. if you’ve had a character deleted for either of these reasons more than twice, you will be banned from the site. end of story. once is understandable, twice is annoying, more than that is just rude. we've loosened up quite a bit, from one post a week per character to one post per character every three weeks, and i think this is reasonable for someone who wishes to excel at roleplaying.
out of character i will not have any more drama. we have dealt with it in the past but it is immature and unfair to everyone. treat all the members equally because they are equal. keep in character in character. this means, don’t treat people badly just because you don’t like what their character said/did/blahblablah to your character. it’s not real. do not talk crap about characters on the site. it hurts feelings and i know it. don't even joke around about saying crap about characters out of character. of course, in character, you can do all the gossiping you want if that's what your character would do. but seriously, control your rude little high school girl instincts and act like a mature writer and appreciate each character for what it is. i've lost members to catty, cliquey behavior and i'm not having that happen.
consequences okay, i used to be a really lax administrator and, i still want to be that way but at the same time, being a lax administrator was pretty much the death of the reputation of my site and i'm not going to ruin it again. so seriously, pretty much the result of breaking the rules is getting banned from something. the rules are very general and not too hard to follow. if you don't post, your character's account gets banned (don't freak out, if you remake the account under the same username your old posts will be there but you get to talk to me before your character gets re-accepted c;). if you screw around in the cbox, your ip gets banned from both cboxes. if your graphics are too big, i take them down without warning. yeah that's another thing i suck at, is warning people. this isn't kindergarten, people, it's a roleplaying site and it's a privilege to be here.
contact the staff if you have any problems, you need to contact one of us. just because another member is doing something wrong doesn't mean you need to quit all the sudden. i'm serious. wouldn't you rather watch me beat them up over the internet? hahah that's a joke but seriously. private message this account or aim me at maggieswhitelies and i would be so glad to help you with any problems you're having on nrfm.<33 if you're having problems contacting me, you can always try to catch dodi at monishaayita on aim or maddie at maddiemadsxoxo on aim. i'm really friendly, just rude when people don't follow my rules. c;
