savannah grew up in a busy household of five, with two younger siblings and a mother and father. savannah was closer to her father but still loved her mother dearly as a child, and the same held for her siblings. when savannah was in high school, her father had an affair and her mother found out about it. the marriage couldn't handle the stress and the two soon got a divorce after. her two sisters, one two years younger than savannah and the other five years younger, had a very difficult time dealing with the situation because of the stress the parents put on the children to pick a side. savannah's father was deeply sorry and didn't have an excuse for his behavior but had always wanted his wife to come back to him. he had a problem with drinking from before savannah was born and the court therefore deemed him too irresponsible to be a guardian for the three girls. he was granted visitation but ended up taking off and moving to another state because of the separation he couldn't bear.

savannah tried to focus on her studies in high school, and she immediately discovered a passion for the french language upon taking it freshman year. she took it all four years of high school and, her senior year, decided she wanted to go to school for teaching in france itself. her senior year also marked when she met her high school sweetheart, gale woods. the two dated pretty steadily throughout senior year but decided to take a break when savannah left for college in france.

it was hard saying goodbye to her sisters but they kept in good touch. the three were always incredibly close. savannah left for college in france and excelled, finishing and qualifying everything she needed to in order to be a french high school teacher in just three years. her years in france were the best of her life and she misses it constantly. savannah wishes to travel there again once she can find the money. near the end of her three years there, savannah got word from her younger siblings that there was quite a bit of havoc. savannah was twenty one then, and the nineteen year old sister had been talking to their mother, during which their mother decided to let slip she, too, had an affair, and had made such a huge deal about their father having one when she had one as well. the three siblings were enraged at their mother. savannah finished everything as quickly as possible and came home. their mother was extremely apologetic but none of the three girls wanted to hear about it. the nineteen year old moved out and in with a friend for college, and the sixteen year old wanted to live with savannah. the girls' mother didn't put up a fight, saying she understood why, and so the sixteen year old lived with savannah until she was eighteen - just a little over a year later, when she moved out and in with another friend for her senior year.

the three sisters are still incredibly close. savannah misses her father quite a bit and wishes they could re-connect with their mother. she doesn't like holding grudges, unlike her two counterparts (her two younger siblings). the three are still inseparable, though savannah is glad they've turned out as independent as they are. upon returning home, savannah was quickly hired as a french teacher by kimball, and surprised to see her old flame, gale woods, was also hired as a french teacher. over the course of that year, savannah fell in love with none other than a student of hers by the name of saul stanton. it was incredibly difficult for savannah at first, and she didn't really even understand how it had happened, but it did and the two had to keep everything very low throughout that year. now that saul has graduated and savannah is starting her second year of teaching, they are beginning to let their relationship grow into something more public, though savannah is still incredibly nervous about the whole thing. she's still close to her two younger sisters, though they don't know about saul yet. her relationship with gale is odd and awkward, because he still seems interested but she hasn't told him yet that she's taken and is still remembering things from their past relationship.

savannah tries her best to be the best teacher she can, despite anything that has happened in the past, and actually succeeds at being fairly liked by the students as far as teachers go. she does try to keep a low profile around the school, however, for obvious reasons.
