life
how does a native from hawaii and someone from french canada meet? well that's a long story, but it ended with them having their only daughter, alani. alani is the youngest child of four and really wasn't even planned, but her parents love her anyways. she has three older brothers, jean-paul who is 24 and married, akoni who is 23 and also married, and then maleko who is 21 single and still at college. the happy family of six had their roots in honolulu, hawaii. alani was born and raised there under the watchful eye of her devote catholic parents. she loved growing up there and learned to surf from her older brothers as soon as she could. they really molded her into who she was, making her a rough and tough girl who could roll with the boys. she was never one to sit by and watch the boys play any kind of sport. she had to be in there and be as competitive as her older brothers. she also attended church with her family and even though she might not stick too it as much as her eldest brother and her parents she still does believe there is a god. she just doesn't think you have to go to church all the time for him to listen to you.
when alani entered school, even though she was used to being outgoing and weird around her brothers, it would take her a while to really warm up to people. she wasn't crazy shy to the point where she couldn't make friends, she just had to pep talk herself a bit first before gaining the courage to go talk to someone. she wasn't going to lose out on an opportunity to try and make a potential friend.
alani loved hawaii. even though she didn't look exactly half native hawaiian like her brothers jean-paul and maleko did or picked up on french as easily as akoni did, she still loved it. she felt like it was a part of her. the day that her dad came home and said they were moving to maryland she almost died. she tried to find someway to stay in hawaii. she tried to move in with her older brothers since they had all moved out of the house and two were married, but no use she was going.
her and her parents arrived in january and she could already tell she was going to have a hard time adapting. when she first arrived she got stuck into public school. coming in halfway through the year didn't help, but her parents had already sent an application to manchester prep. the day the acceptance letter came alani got a bit more excited about being in maryland. sure she was still stuck in cold no real ocean maryland, but she would be going to a different class of school. the only downfall was she was going to have to repeat her sophomore year since she had missed so much because of the move but she didn't mind.
alani is now ready to get her sophomore year off to the right start. she's going to desperately try to break out of her shell to make friends. she's just hoping she makes it in well with good people who don't mind her randomness or her sometimes thrill seeking ways.
