life
A performer from an early age, Austen has always been a handful. He was born here in Ocean City, and grew up on the stage of whatever theater his parents were performing in. His father was a performer on broadway for a long time before coming back to his hometown and settling down with one of the dancers, who would birth Austen. They didn't hand in the towel on their careers, just went a little bit closer to home: community theater. They raised their son on the stages that they performed on, and he learned the ways of performing arts at an early age. He is also a skilled contemporary, jazz and tap dancer, and was trained privately in voice lessons. Austen showed affinity for the performing arts, having two skilled parents, and they raised him to be confident in his talent, and be forward and reach for his dreams. Which is what he has always done.
Austen didn't fit in during elementary school and middle school because he was so loud that most kids avoided him. His teachers liked to pick on him, although he never really did anything wrong. He was just loud and kind of annoying, and he liked being the center of attention like he was on stage. When he entered Manchester, however, he fit easily into the Drama Geek clique, but another clique he would have fit in was the Jokers. However, his niche was with the drama geeks, and he rose to fame throughout the drama club because of his father's career, and because of his own talent. Austen was easily one of the most talented kids in the school, and he was always a principal in musicals, and a lead in plays.
Being the guy to beat for most roles didn't give him a good reputation among other drama guys, and it didn't help that he could be overconfident at times. But he is generally a sweet guy, and doesn't like when people are put out. When it comes to the stage, however, he is a perfect show of focus. He is not one of the chorus joking in the dressing rooms or anything; no, he is always set in character, or at the very least, completely intent on the show. He takes performing very seriously, and has dreams of going to the big leagues like his father did. You can find Austen during schoolditching classbeing called out of class to go to the theatre department and rehearse or even help others rehearse. He is the favorite of the drama teachers, of course, which also earns him a few bullies from the jock clique. However, Austen is not a fighter and would much rather a prank war. That's generally the biggest way he will piss anyone off. During the summer, and pretty much anytime he's got free time, he'll be at the community theater unless he has other plans.
