Moving to a new town had not been easy for the teenage boy. Growing up in the same place your whole life, having the same friends and the same house, was something he had grown use to over the many years. Although something new sounded exciting and fun, it was also scary, even to a man of his age. His older brother had already moved out on his own about a year before and Adam has been close to being able to live on his own as well, in fact if he had pressed the issue and fought with his parents, he probably could have staid in Australia. He was a legal adult and in the end they couldn't have forced him into the move, however Adam was not ht kind of man to fight his parents. He always got along with his parents, even his siblings. He was a family man and was always called the glue that held them all together. After all, if his two other siblings got into a fight it was normally him who broke it up. Being a level headed kind of guy, he could easy ease any war that started in his home. Granted that didn't mean that fires didn't catch from time to time, after all they were a family, but it was still a rare sight. However, this ease that was once his way of life and that loomed over the house, changed once they arrived here in Maryland, as if everyone was tense about the new living quarters and new jobs.
It didn't take long for the tall boy to start learning the ropes, after all he was an outgoing person who normally fit into places very well. He quickly made friends in the neighborhood and was able to play soccer with a few of them a few times a week. Soccer was something Adam was very good at. Back at his old school he was the co-captain of the team and put all of his extra time into perfecting his game. It was something he lived for in a way, so being able to find people to join him in the game here made him extremely happy. It wasn't a big surprise that he found himself fitting in with the other kids his age quickly. Adam was always the type to be able to sit down next to anyone and strike up a conversation, to be able to fit in with ease and no force. This was something he got from his father, the business man. Being so open and friendly was a good quality and one that Adam was happy he picked up from his father. Most of the time kids got traits they didn't care for, but not Adam, this one was something he was happy to accept.
By the time Summer was over and school was starting, Adam found himself being pulled in many directions. Many people wanted to show him the ropes, to teach him how things worked and show him how to get around. There was many people inviting him to parties and after school events, asking him to sit with them at lunch and by the time they all heard he would be joining the soccer team, he was then accepted by all the jocks. It didn't take long before many of them were trying to explain to him the cliques of the school and the rules that came with, however this was something Adam didn't follow through with very well. It didn't matter how many days passed and how many times people explained it to the boy, it just didn't stick. Adam wasn't the kind of many who payed attention to such things, which people explained would only get him in trouble or looked at like the plague, however it never stuck. In fact he often forget about the lines, the different groups. Granted, many people allowed him to slide, after all he was new, but it didn't stop the stares, like the ones he was getting at the very moment.
Lunch had started out like the others in the rest of the week, people waving at him, the popular kids calling him over, high fives, the whole nine yards. However, as Adam started to make his way through the lunch room, he couldn't help but allow his eyes to fall on a brunet girl who had been watching since the first day of class. They had one or two classes together and the same lunch period, so the man couldn't help but notice the girl. It wasn't the weird, stalker, kind of notice, just a catch of the eye, a small glance in her direction, taking in her appearance or the way she did something, like move her hair behind her ear or write. Okay, so many be it did sound a bit stalkerish, but it wouldn't be if he got up the courage to go talk to the girl, something he had been mustering up all week, until today. When the lunch bell had rung and the man made his way through the doors, he started to make his way to her normal table. It seemed like everyone had a spot, however Adam didn't seem to catch on to that. Instead, being the kind of man he was, he didn't notice the groups and how she clearly wasn't someone he was meant to be mingling with.
Shoving his hands into his pockets, Adam made his way to the girls table, stopping on the other side and looking down at her for a moment before sliding into the seat across from her, "Hey there, I'm Adam, I'm new here" he explained simply, although by now he was sure everyone noticed. It was as if new people were a big hit in this place, especially ones who were good in any kind of sport. Tilting his head a little, watching her, he didn't even wait for her to reply before continuing to talk, "So I know this might sound a little weird, but I was wondering if you wanted to join me and my friends for lunch. We don't talk about anything exciting or grand, but I just thought I would see if you want to join me, maybe save me from the boring conversations of shopping and parties." Smiling the boy never missed a beat, nor did he notice the many faces looking at him like he was speaking to a kid with the plague, instead his eyes staid on the girl, waiting for her response.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I WANT YOU SO MUCH BUT I HATE YOUR GUTS The Words: 927 The Outfit: school uniform The Notes <3 Adriana Tucker had made quite a name for herself in her high school career. She had entered her freshman year with her head held high and people had taken notice. In her mind, the place had belonged to her from the very first moment that she walked into the building. That attitude had gained her a lot of recognition and people gave her all the attention she desired and demanded. She had been the only freshman of her class to be accepted into the royals and she had continued to soar, even becoming head bitch until one mistake had thrust her straight down to the bottom of the social totem pole. For a while she had been in complete disbelief, it was such a dramatic change that she had hardly been able to handle it. There had been many tears and screams and sleepless nights until she finally realized that it was truly all over. It didn’t help that she was already upset about the quickly terminated pregnancy. Despite popular belief, she hadn’t simply had the abortion without a single care. It had been extremely hard for her and the decision would never cease to haunt her.
It had taken quite some time for Adriana to rid herself of disbelief. For a while she had been convinced that she would rise again and take her spot back. She had even been trying to get other people to join her but soon she gave up on it. After a while she simply stopped trying to be popular and started to make friends in the lower cliques. She still couldn’t walk down the halls without whispers and insults following her but at least she had people who liked her for her. When she was at the top of the food chain, it had been nearly impossible to know who was truly her friend and who was simply there to kiss her ass. A lot of people didn’t really know anything about her, they just knew that she was popular and they wanted to be the same. When she fell, she didn’t keep a single friend, no one cared enough for her to risk their social status. It had been one of the hardest facts to face but it made her much more wary of people’s intentions.
It was simply another day when Adriana walked into the school that morning. She went to her classes and did her best to avoid any stares or rude comments. The new freshman had probably already heard plenty of horror stories even though they had barely just started high school. At Manchester Prep, gossip and rumors always spread like wild fire and some stuck forever. In a few of her classes she had noticed a new face and she soon came to know him as Adam, the guy from Australia. The popular kids were all over him and the jocks wouldn’t leave him alone. She had noticed him glancing her way a few times in class and she couldn’t help feeling a little bit pissed off. Sure she was well known at Manchester but that didn’t mean that he had to look at her like she was a zoo animal. He probably already though he knew her because his lovely new friends were filling his mind with stories. It was something that she had grown used to but the fact that the new kid was already in on it bothered her. She didn’t understand why everyone could walk around with their noses up in the air like they were better. None of them actually knew her, they just knew of one single story that apparently mattered more than anything else.
When lunch finally rolled around Adriana was ready to lose it. It had been a very long day and she was sick and tired of the stares and the whispers. They seemed particularly more obvious but that was most likely because she was already pissed off about the new guy. She spotted him sitting with a group of jocks who were laughing about something. For a moment she was tempted to storm over and give him a piece of her mind but it wouldn’t be good for her to create a scene. She could only imagine the things that would be said about her if she did. Instead she sat on her own and nibbled on an apple; she was far too annoyed to eat much else. She was about to just give up and leave when she felt someone approaching. She glanced up in disbelief to see the new guy sitting across from her. As he said hello to her she just stared at him, her apple sat forgotten on the table. So I know this might sound a little weird, but I was wondering if you wanted to join me and my friends for lunch. We don't talk about anything exciting or grand, but I just thought I would see if you want to join me, maybe save me from the boring conversations of shopping and parties." Anger burned inside of her, she couldn’t believe that he would mock her like that. ”You want me to sit over there with them? You’re hilarious” Adriana could feel tears burning behind her eyes and she quickly jumped to her feet. ”I hope this little joke was worth it, if you’ll excuse me” She did not want to cry in front of the guy so she quickly left the cafeteria. She just made it into an empty classroom before the first tear drop fell. |

i wasnt looking for this [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#af9ea8; padding:0px;]
Adam Anderson was not the kind of guy to listen to stories or rumors. This school seemed to be full of them, however he paid no mind to them. When people would start to tell him a story or explain someones history to him he would shut them out. While he was happy to already be fitting in, after fearing that it might not be so easy, he wasn't happy about the way everyone treated everyone. Back home people were not so cut throat. Yes there was bullies and gossip, since that seemed to be a universal thing, it wasn't nearly as bad as here. This seemed like that prime time tv show. A story for every face, a rumor for every name. He wasn't the kind to be so Petty. He was the kind of man to give everyone a chance and learn things for himself, not be told. It might leave him alone one day, from what he could tell, however he wasn't sure if he care. It had become a new thing, a crazy look in his direction every time he asked a question. He didn't understand the cliques, the rules, how he was accepted so easy if it was so hard to be at the top. He knew being athletic helped move things along, however not much made sense of it to the young boy. It wasn't that he was dumb, he was just new to such a cut throat world and it wasn't sure he ever wanted to understand it.
As the day progressed and he met more and more people, it seemed there was more and more information for him to take in. More people he needed to know where cool and more he needed to know to avoid. It seemed that every person had something wrong with them, even if it seemed they were at the top. Friends were trashing friends and things seemed to be a tangle web of lies. It was a bunch of he said she said. By the middle of second person he wasn't even paying much attention to it. He had, had the pre-warning show before school had even started and as more time passed, he more he needed a break. He might be able to learn the rules and the way things worked, but it would take time. Instead he felt more like a man tossed into the ocean before being taught how to swim.
Drowning out the chatter of his fellow students, Adam tried hard to pay attention to the teacher, however he was often distracted by the notes being passed his way or by a girl that was in a few of his classed. He came to learn that her name was Adriana Tucker and she was a girl to stay away from. From what he could tell she was an angel who fell from grace, shunned for, well he wasn't sure for what reason. After learning the girls name, Gale hardly paid attention to the rest. What was the point? He didn't want to hear their bull shit stories about the girl or what she had done in the past that was so "horrible." Instead, he watched her, even as she glared at him, as if annoyed by his presence. He didn't understand the glares, but decided at lunch he would find her and talk to her.
Making his way into the lunch room Adam was quickly surrounded by the other Jocks. They talked about silly things like parities and drinking, however Adam spend the time searching for the girl. When he found her he noticed she was sitting alone at a table eating an apple. It didn't seem like much and he wondered if she had any friends? It didn't matter to him, he already had a plan. Adam was a very outgoing kind of guy and the type to jump right into what he was thinking. He was going to ask the girl to join him and his friends and try to get to know her. It might seem silly since he was so new, however he didn't care. So breaking free from the other guys, Adam started making his way to the girls table, before taking a seat across from her.
As soon as Adam spoke, he could tell this wasn't going to turn out to well. The girl almost looked surprised that someone was sitting at her table, so much so that her apple sat there ignored, as she listened to him. He could tell that people were watching the, but he never looked back to see their faces. After all, he had been getting weird looks all day. When he was finally done talking, Adam rested on the table, a dumb smile plastered to his face, waiting for the girls reply, however as it came, he was confused and pretty sure he didn't want it. "I really don't see whats do funny. However if you want I can just sit here and join you, I don't mind...." Adam wasn't even able to finish his comment before the girl was going on, hoping that his "little joke" was worth it. Adam didn't get it. What joke? Standing up as the girl stood, he watched as she quickly moved away from the table and out of the cafeteria. What had he said? Looking around he could hear snickers an whispers. Clearly there was a lot more going on than he knew. Maybe he should have paid attention to those rumors before.
Shaking his head the boy quickly followed after the girl, jogging down the hall toward the class room he had watched the girl duck into and when he arrived he stopped, knocking lightly before opening the door and walking in slowly. "Hey..." Stepping in he moved to shut the door behind him, before standing there a bit awkward, normally he didn't feel so out of place, however he felt like a puzzle missing some of its pieces. "I'm not sure what happened back there, however if you thought my invite was some kind of a joke, you got the wrong impression." He wasn't sure what else to say, he could tell that the girl was clearly upset.
