They had both had plans, she was going to go off to get her master's degree and he was going to go to Belgium to be a major Chemist in a company. One party night filled with bad decisions stopped them both in their tracks and forced them to paint themselves a new panorama. Waking up naked and hungover with a guy you met the night before and a wedding certificate might just make you do that. They were both in Vegas for a wedding between two friends they had in common, they ended up celebrating their own when their friends fought and separated hours before the wedding, costing the bride's dad a fortune and the groom's dad a new nose operation. They went back to Guadalajara, not really knowing how they were going to explain this crazy mess.
She was the first girl he had ever found attractive; boys were more his style. He had been preparing himself to tell his mom getting back from the wedding, as soon as she asked when he was going to get hitched. It was apparently unnecessary, he had met her under the influences of alcohol but even completely sober he could tell you how attractive he found her, it seemed she was his exception. The only girl he'd ever loved or would love for the rest of his life, apart from his mom. It wasn't in her life plans to get married, she was going to be a child psychologist. She didn't want to have a family of her own because she knew how messed up they could end up being, this dream was shattered a few months after they accepted their marriage and moved in together. She tested positive for pregnancy. Somehow, she found herself being ok with that.
When their child was born, Eva and Carlos couldn't have been happier. They named him Jonás Levi, Jonás after Jonas Basshunter, Eva's favorite singer and Levi after... Carlos's favorite jeans. Yeah, clearly these two people weren't made for naming people, but if you ask me... Jonah Levi sounds pretty cute! Anyway, these three... Though the father had wondered if he was gay half his life, and the mother didn't really want a family of her own... These three made a pretty awesome family.
They lived a pretty pleasurable life in Guadalajara, Jonás went to a bilingual school and learning English through school and movies and stuff; Carlos was CEO of a company that had a building in town and Eva being a psychologist that consulted in an office she had at home, all was well until Jonás's tenth birthday. Eva fainted at his birthday party and they took her to the doctor, where they found out she had lung cancer at an advanced stage, where trying to save her would only make her suffer more. A year later; after her funeral, Jonás fell into a depression that was worrysome for Carlos and he decided it was time for a little change. Packing their bags Jonás and Carlos moved to Florida, Jonás started going by "Jonah" like his mom had called him when they were messing around and pretending to be British. Jonah then turned into the complete opposite of who Jonás had been, quiet, moody, irritable. All in all, he was not a nice person. A year later, Carlos packed their bags once more and they moved to Maryland.
The first day in Maryland was one Carlos will never forget, he had left Jonah home alone while he went out to buy groceries and when he came back, Jonah was nowhere to be seen. Carlos flipped out, thinking Jonah had made a run for it and screamed. When his son came running into the room a minute later, looking better than he had in two years and asking what was wrong Carlos almost cried. That was the day Jonah met Molly. Molly was more than just "a few years older" than Jonah but she was the first stranger he had talked to since his mom died. A friendship soon blossomed between the two as Molly took Jonah under his wing and Jonah's depression slowly dwindled away [with the help of a few proffessionals of course.] When Jonah was back to his old self, the joking, happy, loving one; his dad decided it was time to come out of the closet, Jonah was shocked but he took it pretty well.
To this day, Jonah has not become depressed again and Molly has become his "replacement mom" even though he knows nothing will ever replace his mom. His relationship with his dad is loads better and his dad's boyfriend is a pretty cool guy. All in all Jonah has adapted well to Maryland and even though he still misses his mom, he's trying to move on and live life because that's what Eva asked him to do.
