He lay on the ground of his house, the air conditioning turned up as high as he could manage, as the back of his palm wiped his sweat-covered brow. “Could it get any hotter?” he complained to himself, seeming to curse the unchangeable. He sighed, closing his eyes as an attempt to get cooler in his heater of a house. With one hand, he reached up to turn on the ceiling fan, though he was absolutely sure that it wouldn’t help the slightest bit. His mouth felt dry, his body felt sticky with sweat, and he felt as if he were having a fever and there was nothing he could quite do about it but stand it. But then an idea, a brilliant, but obvious idea, came to his head. Why, what did normal people do on hot days? Go to the beach!
With a hurry, a smile was immediately upon his face as he grabbed his swim trunks, a towel, and a pair of sunglasses. He slipped the pair onto his eyes quickly, throwing sunscreen and other necessities into a beach bag and getting into his car to head to the beach. The car was excruciatingly hot as he got inside, packed tight with hot air and burning leather seats. He could hardly stand it as he waited for the air conditioning to fill the car, as he breathed through his mouth and felt the sweat building up again. Jeremiah reached over the dashboard, blasting the AC again as he drove down along the highway, the sun beating down on the car almost like it was intending for it to catch on fire. Hitting traffic was awful on the freeway, it seemed as if every person had had the same idea as Jeremiah, when it came to hot days. He groaned as he stared at the line of cars in front of him, seeming to taunt him with the glaring bright sunlight that reflected off their metal cars.
But finally, as he slid into a parking space at the beach, a large grin spread across his face – finally, he was here, ready to cool himself down at the ocean, grab a lemonade or something at the beach shack, and maybe even meet a few nice girls along the way. Peeling off his shirt, Jeremiah stepped out of his truck, heading towards the crowded Ocean City beach. The sand was soft, but hot between his toes as he almost felt the need to hop across the beach to get to the shore, but he had gotten used to the dry sand pretty easily. Jeremiah threw a towel over his shoulder as he headed into the water for a nice, cold swim. He couldn’t help but feel a little proud as he walked alongside the beach, what with all the girls seemed to notice his perfectly sculpted abs—well, after all the time he spent on it, why not show his body off? He smiled to himself, letting himself throw a wink at some of the girls, only to be met with a few girlish giggles.
Jeremiah was a good swimmer, and being in the ocean was amazing. Not only was the water and the ocean breeze refreshing, the feeling of the waves rolling against his skin was truly something else. He let himself dive deeper into the water as he swam farther from shore, before letting himself drift back. Jeremiah ran his fingers through his wet hair, smoothing it slightly back so it wouldn’t get in his eyes. Little did he know that on this little beach, he would encounter a girl that could possibly change his day for the better.
