High School was a breeze for Shawn. He was at the top of the food chain, smart, and had girls falling for him everywhere. Shawn himself didn’t really understand how he got to being so high up in the royals. Most royals were rich and stuck up, Shawn was neither of those things, not really. He came from an average family and there were plenty of kids at the school that had a whole lot more money than he did and he was a generally nice kid, and pretty smart too. The only thing that actually gave him a bad image was these two girls that had been fighting over him. He wasn’t trying to be a jerk, honestly. He just couldn’t decide which one he liked more, they were both very different. And just before graduation he thought he figured out who it was that he had chosen, well he never got the chance because he was moving north to attend and early admissions program at Duke.

Well, Shawn is back and town and some people are really pleased to see him, others not so much. Being back can’t help but make him reflect on his past here and all the things he would have done differently. Honestly, he wished he had never joined the Royals it seemed like that was what set it all into motion. No one made him out to be a bad guy, putting the girls against each other then but now it’s a whole new story.

Now that Shawn is back he is doing all he can to keep a low profile. He’s working at the local newspaper writing columns and spends his free time writing books, or what he hopes to one day become books. He’s still pretty much the same guy as he was in high school but a lot more mature and less selfish when it comes to girls. Honestly he hasn’t had any relationships with girls, outside of friendships, since high school.

Dallas smiled as he opened the text back from Aly. She was coming. He knew he couldn’t face Ariana or even Jen like this. He had always been the carefree one of the group. The one they went to when they were feeling down. The protector, physically and emotionally, sometimes it was enough for just a few jokes and sometimes it was a shoulder to cry on and sometimes who ever hurt them got a bunch in the face. At least that’s what he considered his role to be, it was where he fit into the group. He didn’t come from money and he sure as hell wasn’t the intelligent one. He was the guy, the backbone.

‘well hi there sunshine!’ Aly called out from no to far from him. He lifted his head and felt a smile play across his lips and it wasn’t forced. Aly just had that affect on people. ‘wait a minute...does this mean i can't get free drinks if you're not working?’ Dallas laughed. Aly would always try and get free drinks off him and it had always amused him, especially when she was drunk. “And how many times have you gotten free drinks WHILE I was working?” He said questioningly still laughing slightly before finishing off his beer. That was already his third one of the night. “Yo Joey,” He called getting his coworkers’ attention. “Get me another one of these and get whatever my friend here anything she wants.” He said turning back to Aly. He winked. “And just add it to my tab!” Dally was feeling generous tonight, plus it was the best way to keep tabs on how much she actually had to drink.

Dallas turned on his stool so he could lean back on the bar and took a survey of the room. The place was hopping. He recalled his boss saying something about some guy renting out half the place for a party, but most of those people went home hours ago. The bar even hired a real DJ for the night instead of just using a Jukebox. Dallas wished they’d do it more often, the place seemed so alive
