It was finally that day when Derick was going to be able to leave the house for a couple of hours without that cute little parasite of his being in his arms. Don't get him wrong, he loves the little fella but to be honest he also needed a few dys in which he needed to just relax and enjoy his day without having to babysit anyone. Although, in his case it wasn't technically babysitting, it was more like taking care of his child. A small sigh left his lips while his feet took him from the actually well sized living room to the hall that lead to his kid's bedroom. With one hand he pushed the door that was never fully closed, looking inside he found that little bundle of joy fast asleep on his crib with Loki resting beside him. Derrick would never be able to forget the countless questions he got about Loki when they found out he was a fox, the word seemed to rise some red flags but after a while they realized he was as harmful as a bunny. "Take care of him for me" he said to the fox who rose his head, looked his way then went back to resting as if he had wanted to make him know he understood the order Derrick decided to take it as if he had. With one final glance at the crib he made sure the light on the baby monitor was on before partially closing the door, his fee taking him to his own rook which was just a few steps more towards the living room. For some reason he had wanted his room the be the first one if you came from the living room; in case anyone broke in, he would be the first to find out, hopefully. The room actually looked spotless; it was one of the good traits from Derrick, he was one step away from being a neat freak. His room was very simple, minimalistic actually. When you walked in, a few steps to the left, his room could be seen, facing you for he liked to keep an eye on the door. Next to it were two black small nighstands on each side; a small black and white clock ontop of the right one. The other, it held one book right in the middle. A large picture of a bench with a hat on it was settle right in the middle. He had taken that photo years back and it had always captivated him, he gve it a meaning an a reasoning behind it so he kept it present at all times. On the wall opposite to that one there were eight small sized frames all with black and white picture, each from a place he had visited. That was it, that was all he had in his room. Other than the door that lead to his bathroom and the one that lead to his walk in closet. His feet took him all the way over to the nightstand with the clock; his hand pulling on the draw to open it and he took out his watch and put it on before closing the draw again. He was basically ready, he had everything he needed; he was dressed, Dmitir was asleep although who knew if that would last. Loki had been fed, the house was clean; all he needed was to wait for Alani to arrive so he could be free to go and drown his problems with a bit of alcohol, not that he had many of those to begin with. Derrick was actually happy, sure some ghosts still haunted his nights but he had seen the worst of mankind and survived, what else could life possibly throw his way? In that very second he heard a noise, the doorbell ringing through out the house and he looked down at his watch. He gave one quick nod and headed out of his room in order to go oen the door, hoping she wouldn't ring the bell twice or that might cause his son to wake up. Withot really realizing about it, he glanced over at the mirrow in the living room, checking how he looked as he walked by. Many thoughts ran through his head, most of them not so good since they involved some inappropriate comments from Corbin. Stop it Derrick he told himself inside his mind as he left the bethroom to the foyer and stopped there. He need to push his best friend voice out of his had befor facing the girl on the other side of the door. When he felt he was relaxed enough, which to him felt like an eternity but in reality were like two to three seconds top, he reached out a hand, took a hold of the doorknob and slowly turned it before pulling on the door, thus revealing the person on the other side to him. "Hi" he greeted her, deciding that word was good enough "Come on in" he said to her as he stepped a side to make room for her. A soft smile had taken over his lips, merely a greeting gesture of course, something he would obviously do with anyone else. For his mental health, he had sort of turned off his brain on the comment section; he didn't wanted to imagine anything or hear his voice or someone elses making comments that he would rather not to hear. Derrick bot hates and loves how his mind works, this time around he was just torn as to what to feel. "I just put Dmitri to sleep, so you can actually rest a little before he wakes up, if he even wakes up that is" words: no idea|notes: hope this is good|outfit: click here! |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT IN LOVE The Words: five four four The Outfit: click The Notes crushing hard! It had been a long day. Alani had been at work since that morning and had just gotten off. It was 5:30 and usually she would head straight home. Today was different though. She had promised Derrick that she would go over and babysit. She had watched Dmitri for him before so she knew where he lived. That being said, she had gotten lost a few times on the way to his house. She was pretty sure that she wasn’t going to get lost this time though. She sat, drumming her fingers on the steering wheel as she drove down the streets of Ocean City. She really was getting the hang of the area. She had been there since January, but she hadn’t really started being able to navigate her way around until the past month when she got a job. She huffed as she got stopped at a red light and looked at the clock. She hated being late. And although Derrick had said he didn’t need her there until six, she still didn’t want to be late.
A sigh escaped her lips as she thought about Derrick. She had been babysitting for him on and off the entire summer. Her parents had met him when they went to go fill out some paperwork for Manchester. Somehow she got roped into babysitting. The first time she went she was dreading it, but now she longs for the nights that he asks her to. It was her only real excuse to go and see him. Throughout the past few months she had felt herself start to crush on him. She knew it was wrong. He was her teacher. For some strange reason she couldn’t help it though. Talking to him just felt so easily. It wasn’t like they talked that much since she usually got there and he left. Although there were those times in the chat room. Still, there was something about him that made her like him. No matter what she did she couldn’t help it. Another sigh left her lips as she realized she was going to be stuck in her work clothes all night because she had forgotten to bring a change. She let the thought escape her mind and pushed all thoughts of her school girl crush out as she pulled up to his house.
She reached the door and rang the bell, silently cursing herself knowing she should have knocked instead. She bit her lip and awkwardly looked around as she waited for the man to answer the door. She couldn’t help but smile as she saw Derrick on the other side of the door. ‘Hey.’ She felt like she looked like some childish girl with the smile that she had on. She really couldn’t help it though. She liked the man, even if he was ten years her elder. She walked in, letting the door close behind her. She gave a small nod as he told her that Dmitri was asleep. ‘Ok that sounds good.’ This was usually how their interactions went. Alani wished that he didn’t have to leave. But then again, if he didn’t leave then there would be no point of her even being there. ‘Have fun at you…what were you going to again?’

He was the type that if he had to leave him with someone he usually tried to find one that he trusted at least a little. The first babysitter he hired, he had to interview her, search for references and then it took all the courage he had to actually leave the house. Then again, he called every other second to figure out if everything was alright. Sure that tendency had changed with the days but when he had asked Alani he had seen the first time how Dmitri seemed to respond to her and it sort of made him feel like he was in good hands, which was why he tended to ask her now; when she was available of course. Now it all seemed to go smoothly each and every time she was here which had caused him to grow and like her more. He was, of course, trying his best not to fall into that more than he already had because he seriously needed to keep himself in check on that department. So far so good though, in his opinion at least. Derick might be lying to himself on that, but his brain was very good at tricking him, so he was not aware of that at all at the moment. So far his mind had been able to be distracted with the fact that he had to finish up an article for the magazine he worked for on some occasions; and he had to also give his family an update on his life so that had been occupying most of his time for the last couple of days and even weeks. Which he had to admit, he had never been so happy about before in his life, usually his family updates were a little boring for him to do.
Seeing Alani here only meant one thing to him; it was time for him to leave to this reunion that he had to attend too. At first, when he had heard of such reunion he had felt the need to tell them he could not go, simply because it sounded like they were going to be locked away in a room discussing all kind of things that were only going to be work related. Now, as they had explained to him a few days back, he had come to know it was actually at a bar and it was more of a social reunion between the teachers and just the faculty members. It had been that reason, and the fact that he hadn't been able to go out on his own for a while that gave him the final push to leave this house without his kid. The guy had always been a social person, no one that knew him could come to deny that, even more if you took into consideration the people he hung out with; but ever since he had Dmitri he had to cut back on going out, on his drinking habits, on sleeping and obviously, on taking unexpected trips to somewhere on the other side of the world. He had grown, probably more in the time he had had his kid than the other twenty-six years of his life but that was not a bad thing. Now, he was trying to find the last few touches on the balance between having a life and having a baby. It wasn't an easy process, but according to his friends he was doing a pretty good job, so he was going to make sure to keep believing those words and actually making sure to keep up the good name.
Derrick watched her for a few seconds, his eyes soon diverting from her smiling face to look inside as he moved so she could head in. Hearing her words just as he stopped and turned to look back at her. "Oh it's a reunion from a few friends that are my co-workers at College" he said while he used one hand to run across his hair, rubbing the back of his neck twice before dropping his hand. "I am not sure how fun it's actually going to be, but I figured it couldn't hurt to go" while he spoke he had started moving around his living room, searching for his keys, which consisted on both his house keys and the car ones so he was doing his best to try and find them. "So thanks again for coming; or else I would have stayed here trying to writer an article while trying to amuse a hyperactive baby which no matter how good I am, is just never an easy task" he continued on, moving away a few toys that he had forgotten to put away. How on earth did he forgot? It was so unlike him, but he ignored that as he found his keys under a cushion. Then he patted his front and back pocket to check that he had his wallet and cell phone. "Alright, you have my number, the alarm code is written on the fridge board, if anything happens just call me" he always said that, each and every time she had come to babysit for him but it was almost like a reflex by now. "And like always, the shower is in my room, you can grab all the food you like, watch TV, read, have a friend over..." he paused as he heard music, music that was coming from his pants so he instantly pulled out his cell phone. "Sorry" he murmured and before answering he added "You can just go right ahead to do whatever you want" he gave her a smile; it was just so she wouldn't have to awkwardly stand there while he spoke on the phone. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT IN LOVE The Words: seven eight five The Outfit: click The Notes awkward! Alani remembered the first time that she went over to Der’s house to babysit. She was so awkward and felt instantly on edge being at a teacher’s place. Alani wasn’t always the most comfortable in new situations and knowing that it was her soon to be teacher’s home didn’t make her any more comfortable. That was at the beginning of the summer though. She had now babysat for the man on countless occasions and it seemed as if their whole banter before he walked out the door was natural. Even if the whole thing was always the same, it just felt comfortable. Alani guessed this was why she was starting to crush on the older man. Not like she would every really do anything about it. He was her teacher and she had never even had a boyfriend her own age. Why would she then try and go after someone ten years older than her? Ever since she realized this crush though she made sure to try and push all thoughts of it out of her mind before walking through that door. No use in wasting her thoughts on something she knew would never become a reality.
‘That sounds fun.’ In all honesty, to Alani it sounded like more fun than what she had been doing lately. Since she was the new girl she didn’t know very many people yet. So if she wasn’t working or babysitting for Der she was just at home watching movies, or surfing the web being a little bored out of her mind. ‘I’m sure it will be more fun than you anticipate. Just have to look for the silver lining.’ Alani shrugged at this. She was a believer in looking at things in the best light you could. Why go through life hating everything when you could stop and smell the roses? ‘No problem, seriously. It’s not like I have anything else to do.’ Alani laughed a little at his comment about Dmitri. She loved the child and concurred about him being hyperactive. Although she didn’t always get to see him awake, but those rare moments she did she could confirm that he was one active little baby. ‘Derrick I know everything. I’ve been here a million times. Don’t worry. Go have fun.’ She shook her head with a small laugh. He always seemed to worry and always reminded her of where everything was and that everything was free range. She knew that he knew that she was capable of picking up on these things by now, but he continued to tell her anyways. As soon as he left she would slip into her normal routine of when she babysat for him on nights. She would shower because she always came straight from work, put on the comfy clothes she had stashed in her car, grab a bowl of ice cream and either watch a movie or pull one of his many books off the shelf to read. She was thinking she would go with reading “Oliver Twist” tonight. The only difference was that tonight she had forgotten to stash away clothes in her car so she was stuck in her work clothes for the next who knew how long.
She stood there before him for a second as he got a phone call, not really knowing what to do because this ruined the whole sequence they always had. When he told her that she could go right ahead she gave a small smile and a nod and headed back to the bathroom. She figured he would be gone before she got out anyways. Still, when she got into the bathroom she locked the door behind her. She stripped herself of her clothes, not exactly being careful of where she put them, and jumped in the shower. It felt like she had been in there forever when she finally emerged. She wrapped a towel around her and got out. She picked up her clothes and frowned. ‘Frick’ Her clothes were sopping wet and she figured it was because she had just left them on the floor instead of the counter. She sighed and decided that she probably had enough time to throw them in the dryer. So her plan was to just stay in her towel for thirty minutes while her clothes dried and then she could put them back on. She just crossed her fingers that Der had already left. She picked up her clothing and left the bathroom to make her way to the laundry room, peaking in on Dmitri before continuing on her journey. All she knew was that if Der was still there for some weird reason her face was going to turn lobster red.

There were times when he would ask Molly to help, but she had a busy life as well and there was no way for him to ask her more than once every now and then no matter how much that girl loved Dmitri. Derrick had also hired some from a company, and while he had realized they were actually very professional and great with kids, he as always more at ease if the person taking care of his son was someone he knew a little more than just a hired person. Sure when he asked Alani it had been because he couldn't find anyone else; for he wasn't sure if asking a soon to be student to babysit was an appropriate thing to do or not but he had rolled with the waves and decided there was nothing wrong with it. In fact he found that both Dmitri and Loki likes her, which was more than he could say about the babysitters he had hired before, because Loki was one picky little fox, and most of the time he tended to give everyone a hard time. While he was looking around, for his keys he found that he was hearing her words and smiling at some of the comments without really noticing it. It was actually nice that that she saw things that way, because some of the time he had some hard time looking at things from a bright side since Anna's incident happened. However, he had to admit that since summer he had been lighting up more than he usually did; he had no clue why though, maybe because he was managing to finally move forward and letting go of everything that had happened. When she mentioned that she knew everything, a small laugh almost made it's way out of his mouth. He figured that made sense since he was always saying the same thing to her when she came to babysit but they both seemed to be alright with it. This was how it was supposed to be right? That they managed to have a nice routine, because this was usually how it went when she came to babysit.
Now however, this had been interrupted because the male had gotten a phone call; a phone call that he did not expect to get at all. His hand had snapped the phone from his pocket, pushing on the green symbol on the touch screen to allow the other person to speak to him. "Derrick! I am so glad you answered" just as the person on the other side of the line finished those words, Derrick saw that Alani merely walked away to start whatever routine she had when he was gone. "Yeah, I was just about to leave, is everyone there yet?" now that he had recognized he voice he could speak with more ease. "That's the thing, we had to move the date to the next weekend, sorry man, I am going crazy letting everyone know" so that was a bummer, sure Derrick had been on the fence on whether or not he was going to have fun but he had been looking forward to being out of the house, maybe drink a little and merely forget that he had a lot of work to get done. "Alright, I suppose I will have to check if I can next weekend" the disappointment on his voice was evident, and even one could tell that the man was just not entirely pleased. "I know, I know, you can surely find someone, I am sorry this was so short noticed, hope you can make it next weekend" Derrick sighed, running a hand through his hair while he turned to walk around the room, now he was going to be bound to writing on his article and that was not something he was looking forward to doing. "Yeah I suppose, it's alright don't worry" with that said the phone call ended, causing him to throw his phone down on the couch, debating on what he should do now. He could always tell Alani that she had the day off after all, but he also knew that if he was going to work on his article, he could use the extra hand in case Dmitri woke up. Derrick stood there, questioning in his head what he should do with this situation; finally guessing it was up to Alani if she wanted to still babysit or if she wanted to leave and maybe call a friend and get her afternoon back. That seemed like the most reasonable idea in his mind, so he slowly walked down to the hall, figuring she most be checking on Dmitri.
"Hey Alani; I just got a call and they said th---" Derrick had been walking down the hall, just like anyone would normally do, however the sight that stood before him was not at all one that he would have thought of ever seeing. His feet stopped, ending with one of them ready to be pulled from the floor to take a step. His deep blue eyes caught the person he was looking for, for he spotted Alani a bit down the hall. The state of dress, however, was what caused him to stop in the middle of his sentence. Well, this might not look if anyone else was to suddenly come into the door without having a knowledge of the context; heck, even he had some of the context and he still couldn't figure out why he was looking at Alani at the hall with just a towel around her. Der would be lying to himself if he didn't admit that his eyes almost moved to dance over her body, not that he could actually see anything but it was the reflex any guy would have just because of what the towel represented. "I...um...sorry, I didn't knew you were out here...like that" way to go Derrick, saying stupid things as if the situation wasn't awkward enough he thought a second after the words had left his mouth. "The thing, I was going too, just got canceled, so....um....I am going to stay here, I would still like for you to stay though, so I can work, but you don't have too" he was doing his best to just push through the awkwardness and get it all out, then move away and pretend this never happened. His eyes managed to remain on her face and nothing else; it really took more self control than he thought. Out of nowhere he could easily hear Corbin's comments from that time when they had been speaking at the chat room. That was definitely not the best thing to have in his mind at this very moment. "I just figured...I should let you know" his heart was racing, why was his heart racing? It made no sense to him as he was not doing anything wrong nor was he thinking of doing anything despite Corbin's voice inside his head. A lot of new thoughts came rushing down on him, like a freaking avalanche or something; thoughts he didn't knew he had and that shouldn't be there at all. "And I should probably let you change as well" he gave a nervous laugh, looking down for a few seconds before taking a few steps back. "I'll...I'll be at the living room" he added; his eyes lingered on her, then he quickly snapped out of it before it could look as if he had been staring. words: no idea|notes: hope this is good|outfit: click here! |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT IN LOVE The Words: five nine four The Outfit: click Corbin Commentary dude just do it! Dmitri was probably one of the cutest kids that Alani had ever seen. Ya sure she was only in a towel, but she couldn’t help but look over the little boy. She was holding the towel close to her body anyways. Plus she knew besides the child and the fox she was the only one there. Alani reached her hand down into the crib and patted down some of Dmitri’s crazy hair down softly. He really did look angelic as he laid there. Alani knew that the child could be a real handful when he was awake though, but whenever he was asleep he could do no wrong. Not like he could do any wrong in the first place. Being around Dmitri made her miss her niece back in Hawaii. Even though Dmitri was a really cute baby, she was a little biased when it came to her niece Kylee. The little girl was just so adorable and seemed to get cuter every time she saw her. Although now it was just through pictures or Skype. The little girl’s hair was quickly growing and curling like her father’s so it seemed like she had a dark curly haired baby afro. The thought brought a small smile to her face. She rubbed Dmitri’s back softly and then pet Loki before slowly leaving the room, trying to close the door as silently as she possibly could.
A voiced seemed to greet Alani as she exited the room. At first a part of her was confused as to why she was hearing voices when it dawned on her. It was Der’s voice. Der was still her. And she was in a towel. She could feel her face start to turn crimson and all she wanted to do was run back into the room and hide out till he left. She felt her hand loosen on the door knob and quickly tighten over the soaked clothes in her hand, which she brought closer to her body, and her towel. She was not standing in nothing but a towel of not only a man who was older than her, not only her teacher, but a man whom she was pretty sure she was crushing on. Just a towel. Why had she been such an idiot? Why had she forgotten extra clothes? She was kicking herself right now just hoping she wasn’t getting any more red. Alani gulped as he started to speak again. ‘I…uh…well I didn’t know you were still here.’ Alani looked down at her feet wanting to do anything, but making eye contact with the man. ‘Um….ya….I can…ya…stay. No um plans or ya.’ What was wrong with her brain? Sure the whole situation was awkward, but she was in the towel, not him. She needed to just stop being such a wuss and take control of her life. ‘Um well um thanks.’ For the first time the entire conversation she looked up at him to see him staring in her face’s general direction. She watched as he started backing away and the whole reason why she was even in just a towel came back to her. Great. Now she was going to have to stop him. ‘Um well….you see….my clothes got a little soaked which is why….ya….so um….I was going just put my clothes in the dryer and sit around in the um towel but um you know you’re here and that’s not appropriate so um…..ya.’ She hoped that from that scrambled mess he understood what she was asking because she would hate to say it again. |

Now, Derrick, he was no strange to having girls at his house with little clothing on. It was not like h was at the level of Corbin, no way, he actually was more picky even if it was only for a night stand. However this was nothing like that; this was his soon to be student standing before him; this was the girl who had come here to take care of his baby throughout the summer. He could not come to even accept any thought that wasn't a proper one, not even the idea of having an idea like that was allowed in his mind because he knew it would only lead to disaster. Corbin had told him before that he should go for it; then again it was obviously something Corbin would advice, but Derrick knew that was not likely to ever happen for several reasons. However, he hated to even think of admitting the fact that he did liked talking to her; she was a rather interesting person, and he felt at ease while talking to her but that didn't mean he wanted anything else with her. Stop it Derrick! he said to himself while he did his best not to let any thought cloud his mind at the time. All he needed was to be level headed, to not let the situation cause him to be too ashamed or confused or what not. At least she had spoken to him, that had to be a good sign that she was not too ashamed that she would want to rush out of his house as soon as humanly possible; not that he would blame her for it. However, when she said she would stay, a nod was given and he suppressed a smile; now he would be able to actually work without having to worry about Dmitri cutting his line of work by demanding his attention due to crying, or having to be fed or merely for wanting to play for a while. Boy was Corbin going to get a nice laugh out of this once he heard of it; he could already imagine what he was going t say about this, but it would still be amusing to hear it from the male. Sometimes Derrick would not understand how he could come up with such comments.
It wasn't until his feet had moved two steps behind that he stopped himself again; eyes looking from the floor to her face once more while she began to explain -or at least attempt too- why she was currently standing at the hall with a towel on. His eyes detached themselves from her blushing face to see the wet ball of clothes she was holding onto. Well; now he felt stupid for not have noticed that before. The following caught him of guard; he was looking at her, hearing her every word as she tried to explain what had happened to her clothes and in all honesty, he found himself thinking it was kind of cute that she was rambling like that. It made sense due to the situation, but he still couldn't help his mind as it told him that she looked rather cute, due to the combination of the pink-redish tone of her cheeks combined with the words she was trying so hard to get out. That was a short lived feeling though, for he quickly snapped himself into being proper when she mentioned how inappropriate this actually was. "Right, yeah you can't stay like that...." he said thinking about it for a couple of seconds while the gears inside his brain began to move slowly. One had to apologize the fact that he couldn't think too quickly, after all this entire thing had caught him off guard. "Let me see if I have something for you to wear..." he stayed there for another second, or perhaps two then later turned to go inside his bedroom; the second he was out of her sight he let out a breath he didn't knew had been holding in. His feet took him to his closet without a second thought; searching over for something for her to wear. "I can place your clothes in the dryer while you change if you want too" he said to her, assuming she was in the room with him; finally he found a pair of sweatpants and his AC/DC shirt and he held on both. It was funny how he didn't even hesitated on grabbing that particular shirt. Finally he turned around and walked over to her. "I only have this...I hope they work" he held them out for her to take. He gave her a smile, after the initial shock had passed he found himself more at ease, and if she relaxed as well later on in the evening he knew he would find this to be amusing at some point. As he thought about her changing he thought about that as well; but he didn't wanted to go around his house in pajamas when he had someone in the house. "They might be a little big for you though, but I guess they are better than the towel" so, now he was joking, well; Derrick knew the embarrassment couldn't last long, specially with someone with his personality. Besides, why worry so much, when they were going to bump int each other in the house; why make it awkward when they could move pass it? words: no idea|notes: hope this is good|outfit: click here! |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT IN LOVE The Words: six two three The Outfit: click Corbin Commentary dude just do it! Alani could feel the pressure on her bottom lip increasing. Every time she got nervous or was in an awkward situation or was just unsure it seemed to be her go to thing to do. So here she was, waiting for him to answer about the whole clothing thing, biting her bottom lip and hoping she didn’t break skin. She gave a small nod when he agreed that her staying in a towel was in no way a good idea. ‘Thank you so much Derrick. As soon as my clothes are dry I’ll change back, I promise.’ She watched as he made his way to his room. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other and debated on whether or not she should follow him or not. She decided she should so she could get the clothes. She stood in the doorway, not wanting to overstep boundaries, as she waited for him to give her something to wear. ‘That would be great, thank you.’ She shifted her weight once more hoping that he would just find something. The faster that she got clothes on the faster she would feel better. When he held them out she took them, trying to make sure she still had a good hold of the towel against her body. ‘I’ll trade you,’ she said with a small forced smile trying to make the whole thing less awkward, as she handed him her soaked shirt and pants. ‘Much better than a towel. Thank you Derrick.’ With that she gave him a small smile and made her way to the bathroom.
With the bathroom door closed, Alani could finally rest easy. She let out the breath he knew she had been holding and she was able to reorient her thoughts. Standing there in a towel in front of not only her teacher or the man whose kid she babysat, but the guy she had started to crush on was the most nerve racking thing she had ever been through. It wasn’t as if dirty thoughts had been passing through her mind, but the whole situation just had her on edge. The way he seemed to so smoothly deal with the whole thing just gave her one more reason to like the older man even more. That was not something that she had wanted to happen. She just wanted the crush to dissolve and yet this one event intensified it. Letting out a sigh she began to put her clothes on. Well not her clothes, but the ones that Der had given her. As she slipped the AC/DC shirt onto her body she couldn’t help but notice how soft it was. She liked it and she made a mental note that she was going to buy a shirt this soft because it felt amazing against her skin.
Alani slowly made her way out of the bathroom to the living room. She was hoping that Der wasn’t in there. That maybe he left so that she didn’t have to awkwardly sit there while he worked and only get up in Dmitri awoke. Alas, he was in the living room working on his computer. Once again, she bit her lower lip and made her way to the couch. She took a seat in the opposite corner of Der and looked around. She was determined to try and not feel awkward, but she still felt a bit weird. She looked at Der, taking a deep breath, and decided to find out what he was working on and how long he needed her for before going to get her book. ‘So um…how long are you needing me to stay now that you’re just working here? What are you working on by the way?’ |

How many times could you run into someone in a towel and have such an awkwardly funny conversation to begin with? However, on another hand, he saw that it was still something that could easily turn into something that could be seen as terribly wrong if someone was to suddenly walk into the room. The mere idea of someone walking into his house and later to his room was ridiculous, who would enter his house suddenly? Sometimes Derrick found that his mind was rather interesting, he was unsure if most people would react this way to the situation, maybe they would be more embarrassed or perhaps their mind would travel to some inappropriate thoughts but not his, he wouldn't dare himself to go down that road because it would not end well. Hearing her words he merely brushed them off in a careless way; there was no need to thank him, this was the right thing to do after all; he couldn't let her walk around in a towel. A smile even made it's way to his lips when she spoke; and he nodded as he handed her his clothes and she gave him hers. "Don't mention it" he said before moving to leave the room, resisting an unexpected urge to glance back at her as she left for the bathroom and he made his way out of his bedroom. His hands holding her clothes as his feet began to take him down the hall, making his way over to the laundry room that was at the end of the hall to the left.
Finally his body stopped in front of the dryer; one hand holding the clothes while the other opened the lid to drop the clothes in and then close it before setting the dryer to do it's work. He rested his hands on the edge, leaning his weight onto it for a few seconds, mind getting numb as he tried not to think much on what had just happened. He didn't wanted to think of what he had talked about with Corbin, nor he wanted to think on the fact that he had found her to be rather cute a few moments ago. What good could come from that? Nothing at all so he was pushing those thoughts deep into the corners of his mind to not let them out again. Or at least not tonight because he was going to be here with her. Now he was wondering how good of an idea that was; but given the fact that he was just going to work and she was probably going to just read or play with Dmitri if he wakes up then he felt they were on safe ground. After a few seconds he just pushed himself off and walked out, heading down the hall without stopping and took a seat at the couch, grabbing his computer from the table and quickly opening it, moving to open his latest article draft. While writing was something he deeply enjoyed, he sometimes wished to take a break from it but, that was not going to happen. His hands began to type in a few things, his mind needing to get warmed up for what he was about to do.
Soon enough he heard a noise and his eyes glanced away from the computer screen to see Alani entering the room; he couldn't help a small smile to spread on his lips when he saw her in his clothes. Yes, they were definitely too big for her, that was for sure, but what caught him off guard was the fact that he truly didn't mind her wearing his shirt, the shirt he had never let anyone else touch. The thought caused him to look back at the screen, confusing filling him as he kept the emotions from being reflected on his face. Soon her voice took him out of his thoughts, thankfully. His eyes turned to look over at the girl in question. "Well...Dmitri sometimes wakes up around this time, or a bit later so just while he is awake, if you can manage to get him to fall asleep again then I he won't woke up again and you can feel free to leave" he decided to answer that question first because it seemed like the simpler one. "It's an article for a magazine I work for" Derrick said as he shifted a little on his seat "I should have finished a couple of days ago but...I haven't gotten the time to actually sit down and write" he continued, finding that the words just left his mouth with ease, not having to think twice on them. Glances at the screen and then over at her "Do you want to see it? It's about several art shows an some plays the local theater is doing" he added, he smiled at her and then patter the seat beside her "Come on, you might find something you like and want to try out" yes, the awkwardness was definitely gone and he was back t his usual social self. words: no idea|notes: hope this is good|outfit: click here! |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT IN LOVE The Words: four three one The Outfit: click Corbin Commentary doooo it! Even though she was now clothed, Alani still felt extremely awkward. Here she was alone in her teacher’s house, wearing his clothes. If anyone looked in on this scene and didn’t know their actual relationship and their ages they might think the two were dating. Alani didn’t really like the thought of that because one she had never dated anyone and two this was her teacher who she was crushing on. She had never been alone with him for more than a few minutes and now here he was sitting on his couch working on something and he had asked her to stay to watch Dmitri. It wasn’t as if she needed to do much watching since the baby boy was asleep, but still she was here if he awoke. Yes, this entire situation screamed complete awkwardness and Alani was just trying hard not to let that translate to how she acted or what she said.
Alani gave a small nod to what he said. Sounded easy enough. On paper that was. In reality Alani knew that having to sit there doing who knew what while Derrick worked on whatever was going to be really uncomfortable and silent. Alani didn’t do well with silence. She always had music or the tv on as background noise. It was just how she worked. So the silence that she knew was going to come soon was not something that she was looking forward to. She wished she could just press a fast forward button and be over with this night. Not that she minded being with Derrick. Ok well she did because it was her teacher and it was weird that she had a crush on him and well it was just awkward. ‘Ok that sounds good.’ Alani bit her lower lip and bounced her foot nervously. She was going to get through this night and she was going to be fine.
‘Procrastinating some more I see.’ Alani smirked a little. Ok maybe this wasn’t going to be as awkward as she thought it was going to be. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t had a conversation with him before. It just was only over the internet, not in person. In person it was always a quick I’ll be back at this time bye. Alani nervously looked around real quick and then moved over closer to Der. She felt her chest get tight and her stomach whirl. Stupid crush. She looked over the article reading a few of the things and smiled. ‘These all sound good. Any suggestions on which might be the best?’ |

He didn't wanted to think about it that way but one could not exactly deny that when he was talking to her he tend to forget about everything else and then just focus on speaking to her. He glanced over at her, once more he was rather unable to actually pin point why he had not hesitated when giving her that shirt and even more fascinating yet that he didn't feel the need to ask her to take it off so he could give her another one. His eyes remained on her although it was more of a casual look rather than a stare. Slowly he moved to look back down at the screen, one could see several things written down but to be honest nothing seemed to connect just yet. He was writing them part by part; then he would work on the structure later on when he felt like he would be actually able to sit down and make this work. He almost chuckled as he once more thought of her as a reason to procrastinate; it hadn't been his words but hers but one could surely see that they were somewhat true. Even so, he knew that this time around if Dmitri was to wake up then he would be able to go back to work for she would head over to take care of his kid. Derrick had never actually been with her more than those couple of minutes in which she arrived at his house and he left. So maybe conversation was going slowly, but seriously, how difficult could it be to lit it up? He doubt it would take long, for this was the same person; besides, he was just as chatty in person as he was on the Internet. He was never more open or more reserved in either; like some people tended to be.
Finally she had agreed to his terms on what she could do if Dmitri came to wake up and he smiled a little, glad to see that she was talking and not just being uncomfortable due to what had happened a little earlier. Derrick had been shocked, he would never be able to deny that, but he could move pass it and see it for the comical value that represented. His mind had already started to classify it as such. He used one hand to run it across his hair, gently rubbing the back of his neck before setting it back down on the keyboard. His mind needed to start focusing on his work rather than the girl sitting beside him. When her comment came he turned to look back at her and a smile instantly crossed his lips; a bit of a boyish grin taking over it a moment later. OK, so they seemed to be on the same page when it came to that. "I am actually not procrastinating right now, I am working and having a conversation" he mentioned with a nod of his head before typing a few words into the article, he couldn't really think much on the work he was doing but he could add up a few notes here and there to fix them when he had the time. Although technically he did had the time at the moment.
When he saw her moving closer he glanced down at her; his bright ocean blue eyes locked on her face before he moved then back on the bright screen. Once more his mind could not help itself from using the word cute to refer to her and he kicked himself mentally for it. His eyes locked on the screen as she asked that question. "Well, given that you like books I think this one would be best for you" he mentioned as he began to scroll down to show her the one about a book convention. The guy hated when he was trying to see something in the computer and the reflexion on the light kept getting in his way, which he knew was sort of happening to her right now so he shifted on his seat, shifting to turn a bit more towards her. He moved to rest one of his arms on the back of the couch, and much to his surprise he ended up closer to her; he didn't say anything though, deciding to act as if he hadn't noticed because, well it would make the moment more awkward and that was the last thing he wanted. So he just used his other hand to shift the laptop which was resting on his lap towards her so he could look at it better. "That one I think you might like" he added, then turned to look at her, wanting to see her reaction for he was wondering if he had chosen correctly. words: no idea|notes: hope this is good|outfit: click here! |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M NOT IN LOVE The Words: six five five The Outfit: click Corbin Commentary hahaha this is pure gold Alani wondered if he could hear her heart beating because it definitely was drumming loudly in her ears. And fast too. For some reason though she seemed to be able to push over this. She had never exactly been good with crushes and guys. Mostly because her brothers squashed it before it could really go anywhere, thus why she had never had a boyfriend and why she was really dumb when it concerned relationships. Someone could like her and basically say it and she still wouldn’t understand. This crush seemed to be different though. She kept telling herself it was just because he was her teacher that she felt that way, but deep down she knew it was something entirely different. Whenever she had a crush on someone back in Hawaii she found herself wanting to avoid them at all costs and tripping over her words no matter on what playing field she was talking to them on, but especially in person. This wasn’t the case when she was around Der though. She found her confident side that only her closest friends and her brothers ever saw. Her sarcasm and wit came out and she just felt calm. At the same time though she always felt like her heart was going to explode. It all confused her which was why she tried to ignore the entire thing as much as possible.
‘No you are totally procrastinating. Don’t even lie.’ Alani could feel herself beginning to feel less awkward. It was the same Der that she talked to through aim. It wasn’t like he was a different person. The only difference was that now he had seen her in a towel. And she was sitting next to him on the couch where she could almost feel his breath on her neck as he talked to her. Other than that it was exactly the same. Same conversation. Same making fun of one another. This was a totally regular student and teacher relationship, right? She had joked around with teachers before, heck she had even babysat for some of her teachers back in Hawaii. Difference there was that they were married and they weren’t incredibly attractive with beautiful, hypnotizing blue eyes. Alani cursed herself and pushed the thoughts out of her head. She couldn’t let herself go there or else she would do something she would regret. Actually she would probably just think about it because she wasn’t going to do anything to the man sitting next to her. He was her teacher for crying out loud! And she wasn’t going to make her first kiss happen with someone that nothing would ever happen with.
She leaned in a little looking at the screen. She smiled as he turned it more towards her and could literally feel her heart picking up the beat as he moved closer and his knee grazed hers. Alani let her eyes glide over the words on the screen about the book convention. She couldn’t help but smile as she read over it. How did he know her so well? This sounded like something she would love to attend and actually made a mental note of when it was so she could force someone to go with her. ‘That sounds like a lot of fun,’ she said before looking back up at him. Her eyes locked with his and what happened next she still wasn’t sure why it happened. Her brain literally shut off and emotion took over. There was no thought. There was no pros and cons list. There was not rationalization of why she shouldn’t do it. It just happened. Her lips were now on Derrick Romanov’s lips and he was now the proud owner of Alani Janay Kealoha’s first kiss. It ended as quickly as it happened as she pulled away, eyes wide and not really knowing what to say. Mostly because her brain hadn’t turned itself back on quite yet. |

Granted, he had never taught her, since she had just moved in but she was already signed in one of his classes so that sort of meant it was a done deal. How bad was it that he thought she was cute? That he liked talking to her? that he would let his work aside when she was around at the chat room? There it was again, his mind going crazy over it and he almost shook his head to get the thoughts away from his mind but there was really no real time for him to do so because she spoke again and it provided him with the reason to stop his train of thought and cause her to focus on her once more. Although, lets face it, focusing on her was the primary reason of him ending in his previews thoughts a few seconds ago. His eyes rolled as she mentioned that, leave it to her to mention that he had been procrastinating; she was actually joking through which proved to be a rather good thing because she was letting go of the awkwardness from before. Yes, this was perfectly fine, this was going to be alright and they were going to be able to move on and perhaps maybe laugh about it in the future; like a little inside joke. Was it good that the inside joke was him finding her with a towel in the middle of the hall of his house? Yes, definitely an inside joke because he was certain other people might end up leading it to a very unwanted end. Well, a very inappropriate end. Did he wanted it to end that way? Gee, Der focus! he thought while he looked back down at the screen for a second or two. His mind was on over drive now and he needed something to distract him; shouldn't his kid be awake by now?
Finally she was looking down at the screen and he wondered if he had chosen right yet again; yes, this was the train of thought that he wanted to keep going with. His eyes were on her thought, and when he noticed the interest look on her face he decided he had done a pretty good job. Derrick might be one to joke around a lot, he might be one to be very cocky and somewhat arrogant from time to time but he did knew how to pay attention to some important details and he felt like he had prove her right now that he was good at paying attention. Seriously, he thought she had mentioned she liked books a while ago and he could still recall the fact that she did. He smiled a little at the realization; feeling rather proud with himself that he had managed to remember. What htat said about him didn't matter though; but what did it said? Not about him but about the fact that he recalled such fact on one of his students; did he always remember those type of things? No, the answer was a no and he didn't wanted to work on it much. Thankfully once more he heard her voice and that caused him to snap out. Yes, a lot of fun. Actually that had been one of the things he had been interesting in going; so perhaps they could run into each other again; not that he was planning on it but the possibility was very likely to happen. His eyes looked at her, just as she looked up and his eyes locked on hers. He blinked once, and it seemed that somewhere between him looking into her eyes again and his mind going to try and say something a sudden action happened that absolutely caught him off guard. Heck, off guard didn't even begin to cover it.
It all seemed like a quick blur; like something that happens in less than a second and so your mind doesn't quite process it until later. When the moment has passed. His eyes were slightly wide as he looked down at her, his entire body froze as he stared at her. It was then that his brain started once more and he was able to relive what had just happened. One second he had been looking at her, ready to comment on the book convention and the next he felt her lips against his. Her soft, warm lips that literally caused his heart to stop. His body tensed up due to the surprise, his eyes widen a little and his brain shut down. Only his senses seemed to remain active and they were telling him this felt amazing. There was no thought process, no comment from his mind, no him thinking on who she was or what this could possibly mean. No; there was nothing more than the memory of her lips against his and how great this kiss felt. So by the time she pulled back, he was starting to think again. His heart was beating like a drum; his body slowly regaining some movement and he had no clue what took over him as he leaned forward. One hand resting on the side of her face while his lips pressed against hers at the same time that he inhaled deeply. Ok, that had been his body and feelings taking over but his bran quickly pushed them away to take control once more.
What the hell had he done?! He pulled back, surprisingly out of breath even when the kiss had lasted a second, maybe two. His hand moving away from her "I...." he looked at her in shock but he then heard a noise, a noise coming from away and he thanked God his kid had woken up. "Excuse me" he said in a hurried voice and he pushed the laptop away from him in a careless way to the couch; legs stretching as he walked away from the room. He could not think, not one coherent thought but the one telling him how bad yet how amazingly right that kiss had felt. words: no idea|notes: hope this is good|outfit: click here! |

She felt like she was in a complete haze. Had she just kissed her teacher? She couldn’t have. This was all a dream. At any second she was going to wake up and laugh because none of this had actually happened. He hadn’t seen her in a towel and she definitely hadn’t kissed her teacher. No she would have never done that. She was shy, naïve, never had a boyfriend, guy stupid when it came to more than friends Alani. Why in the world would she have kissed her teacher? But she had. Her lips had been on his, even for a brief moment she had kissed him. As much as she kept telling herself that the entire thing was wrong, the feelings of not caring were pushing that away and begging her to do it again. She literally had to bite her tongue to keep herself from doing it again. She couldn’t. She should just get up and leave.
Before she could get up and leave his hand was on her face. What did this mean? What was happening? Was she in the twilight zone? Before another thought could cross her mind his lips were once again on hers. She was kissing him again and this time he had started it. Once again it was over before it even started. What did this even mean? Her teacher just kissed her and well she just wished he would do it again. Wait…he kissed her? Did this mean he liked her? No he couldn’t like her. She was his student and she was ten years younger than him. No, there really was no way that he liked her. It must have just been impulse or maybe he had been taken over by aliens. That was the only logical explanation.
She was a little relieved when she heard Dmitri and he got up. She could make her escape. She made her way to the kitchen table, getting a pen and paper on her way there. She wrote out a note and stared at it for a second.
Der, I decided it was probably best if I left. I’ll return your clothes soon. Thank you for lending them to me. Sorry for the…well you know… Alani
Even her note sounded awkward. She rolled her eyes at herself and made her way to the laundry room. She took her clothes out of the dryer, not surprised at all that they were still damp. Now she just had to get out of the house. She grabbed her keys off of the front table and opened the front door, closing it as silently as she possibly could. Man what did she just do.

That was all his brain could come up with at the moment while he entered Dmitri's room and closed the door behind him. He had kissed his student, he had kissed his babysitter, he had kissed...well...Alani! How in the world did he ended up doing that? His back was pressed against the door and his head was almost wanting to back against it. As if kissing her hadn't been stupid enough he had ran away, like the scary cat that he always is. Stupid, Romanov he muttered to himself while he walked over to Dmitri and he picked him up. His eyes glancing around as he wondered what to do now. Would she still be there? Hardly, he probably scared her out of her mind. Then again, she kissed him first, what did that even mean? He ran his hand through his hair and then settle Dmitri back down. "I'll be right back" he said to the now smiling child and he walked out of the door.
His legs felt like they were made of rock, each step took a lot of effort for him and when he finally entered the living room he found it empty. There was a mix of emotions that he couldn't quite place as he walked further into the room, then to the kitchen where he noticed the note. His hand reached over to take it, eyes looking over it and he once more felt like banging his head against a hard surface. He turned the note into a ball and dropped it on the table, his hands running through his hair as he looked around trying to figure out what had happened. He should have gone out. He shouldn't have been here today because now everything was a mess. The worst part was, he felt slightly relieved that she wasn't here anymore, but deep down inside he knew that the real feeling was sadness over not having her here. Had he just ruined...whatever it was they had going on? Derrick Romanov found himself praying for a no, because he was going to truly miss her if he had. Whet-ever it was, he was going to miss it. Even if that whatever was nothing more than them talking through IM, because when it came right down to it; when he talked to her, it was the happiest he had been in a long time.
