Her summer was slowly ticking by, with each day dragging on it seemed. Other than her trip to Paris, she hadn't done anything exciting, and soon the school year would be there. That was one thing that she couldn't wait for, school; it was her senior year. Her senioritis had already set in, deciding that this year was only for social interaction. On the verge of deciding to just scrap the beach party, stay home listening to the fire works from the comfort of her bed, her phone beeped. Her face lit up at the name across her screen, though quickly faded as she saw the text.
Their relationship wasn't a public one, more out of her fear for her reputation other than who it was with. Maybe more so how they ended up together than anything else. It was the begining of her junior year, and, she was looking for a stress relief. Byren had never been a relationship type girl, especially knowing most of the guys at MPA. Sure she had a couple of friends, that were often more than just friends, but nothing that she really cared about. Thayer and her had been friends since he started dating Lizzie, one of her social friends. They weren't very public, only talking when it was just the two of them, or texting. Being so secretive might have lent to the added spark, or appeal of him, but soon Byren found herself with a crush.
By the time their relationship had started to go downhill, though they kept up appearances, the two of them were talking almost daily. Byren had never expected herself to be placed in such a situation, being the 'other woman'. But, it was exciting, and she felt a rush everytime he was around.
She still did, and even though Lizzie and Thayer were now broken up, and Byren was no longer the 'other woman', she kept their relationship hidden. Thayer was once again a senior, and was casted out of the popular crowd. Being as shallow of a person that she was, she feared dating an ex-popular would effect her own social status.
Replying to the text, she made her way to her closet, pulling a small black bikini out, with a beige knitted cover to wear over it. She pulled on a pair of sandles before leaving, making the quick drive to the beach. Walking the beach, the sounds of the waves were inaudible over the sound of her classmates and countless others, slightly frustrating her. Something so peaceful had been turned into an unorganized meeting of people. She needed a drink before she would find any of this appeasing.
A flirty smile, a soft kiss on the cheek and she had a red plastic solo cup in her hands, filled with a mixture of different liquids, making a dark amber color. With a small sip, her eyes scanned the people nearby, looking for his familiar face. [/style] TAG thayer; OUTFIT in the picture; NOTES YAY!; ♔ [/style]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 181818; border: #282828 solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] YOU'RE THE SMILE ON MY FACE The Words: go here The Outfit: goes here The Notes go here The blond was a power house, a ticking time bomb about to explode, but was as gentle as the nice prince charming when it came to a lady. Thayer Donovan had been a popular ever since his relationship with Lizzia-Marie Cox or "Lizzie" as she had always gone by in school. She had been his first real relationship, and she'd been a popular already, and drug him right along with her. By the start of their senior year, they were on the rocks, fighting more than they were getting along. It had been a stressful time for both of them, especially when she learned that he had planned to drop out of school and get his G.E.D. They had agreed that for her reputation that they would remain the happy in love couple that they had always been to everyone else, but privately, Thayer had not wanted anything to do with her. It was hard enough that every social call on the calender he'd get a buzz on his phone, "Party, bitch, better show up." from Lizzie. It was enough for him to want to say, Look, I know your reputation is everything to you, but I can't do this anymore.
It was one another ring of the phone that he became the beck-and-call boy. Showing up, wearing exactly what Lizzie had instructed him to wear, she'd bought all of his clothes anyway, careful to not let him embarrass her, even giving the extra little bit by styling his hair the way she suggested looked best. That was the day that the relationship with Lizzie took a dramatic turn after an argument in the bathroom after she'd very publicly told everyone that he had been bad in bed. A drunk babble that Lizzie had been known for, always running her mouth and never taking credit for her piss poor attitude and her nearly cold personality. A type of person that no one would want to cross and yet some how he'd managed to be with her for so long, it was then that he really saw her for who she was.
The heated discussion ended in, "Sex with you was like sleeping with an ice block," and Thayer stalking off in a temper rage. Never before had he ever felt so ashamed of himself, not only had he stayed with someone he hadn't wanted to be with for someone else's image, but he'd also said some of the worst things, Lizzie truly bought the worst out of him. It was then that he'd ran into Byren, one of Lizzie's closest friends, a girl, in Thayer's opinion after months and months of communicating and being friends, had no business being caught up with Lizzie. It was unexpected and completely unplanned as they ended up wrapped around each other, in the bed room of that weekends party house, no one had caught them and no one had ever asked any questions. As far as everyone else was concerned, they were just friends, it was kind fun that way, once again he had a reason to get up in the morning and soon he'd decided to finish out school, but ended up flunking two classes by the end of the year.
Returning as a fifth year senior, was embarrassing and it was then that he was asked to remove himself from being popular, publicly disgraced, not that he cared. He'd hoped that the year would be full of being truthful and finally tell everyone he was officially with Byren, but all secrets come with a price. He had become her secret instead of the other way around. It hurt, but he accepted it, he cared about Byren enough to do anything she asked of him. Anything to make her happy, which turned out, it wasn't hard to get her to smile, which was a comforting difference between her and Lizzie.
He'd sent the text message to Byren, urging her to get to the party. "Hey beautiful, miss your face, come see me." knowing she'd know exactly where he was, everyone was there, geeks, potheads and populars partying in the same place, only happened once a year. With that he excused himself from Val, and waited patiently to see her face in the shadows . Once he did, he simply sent her a text, "meet me in the parking lot," and darted to hide among the cars in the fully night sky. He knew the fireworks would be happening soon. |

It made her adrenaline pump slightly when they met up in such public places. They had done such a careful job of keeping their relationship hidden that they had gotten pretty good at being able to see one another without anyone else taking notice. Of course the topic of taking their relationship public came into topic, but, Byren always quickly shot it down. Mostly for her reputation, but some for the fact that he never left Lizzie. That it took her graduating for him to break it off with her. And of course Byren understood, and honestly, even if he had broken up with her before, she couldn't have publicly dated her friend's ex while she was there.
But Lizzie was gone now, and Byren didn't even talk to the girl anymore. She knew what she put Thayer through, and couldn't honestly call her a friend anymore. So why did she still hold it against Thayer? She wasn't sure, but, she didn't want to confront it, in fear of ruining what she and Thayer had, or her reputation.
As she weaved through the people at the party, and made her way to the parking lot, she managed to finish her drink, and discard of the cup before standing in the middle of the parking lot. She was surprised, with the cover of night she couldn't really see any of the partiers on the beach, and other than Thayer somewhere, no one was in the parking lot. "Thay?" She called in a slight whisper, before it dawning that there was no way to know what part of the parking lot he was in, and was pretty sure he couldn't hear her whispering for him. Sending him a text to let him know she was there, she took a moment to look up at the stars, something she used to do when she was little. Now she was more worried with what she would wear the next day then if she could see the stars, and nights like those gave her a moment to stop and think about things. He heard his name, a loud whisper and he ducked from his completely concealed position, between two larger vehicles, and darted toward her, he'd always find her, no matter what she was. Coming up behind her, he felt the buzz in his pocket as he knew that she'd sent him a "where are you?" text, but instead he wrapped his arms softly and loosely around her shoulders, and kissed the side of her neck, making his way up to her ear, giving it a nibble before whispering, "I missed you." he said, inches away from her ear lobe, feeling the rush of energy between them, whether it was the way they felt for each other or the sneaking around, it wasn't hard for him to get caught up in the moment. turning her around, her brilliant golden brown eyes were bright as the moon it self regardless of the darkness that surrounded them. He loved her, he did, but he was scared to death that she didn't return it, never having exchanged the words between them.
"Come on." he said, grabbing her hand, her hand fitting in his, as he lead her back to his spot, where he pulled himself into someone's truck bed and looked back at her mischievously, they both knew that a truck that was parked here wasn't going anywhere for a long time, and it had parked itself in the perfect position where a cuddled couple could lay and see the fireworks perfectly. There was no one on earth that he'd rather share the moment with. He'd already placed a blanket and a pillow or two in the clean bed of the 4x4. He was dressed in only a pair of swimming trunks and he quickly sat down, putting himself in the perfect position to let her join him, and let her use his bulky arm as a pillow.
Just as they got comfortable, his eyes were filled of sizes of red and blue lights of exploding matter in the sky, fourth of July was always a joy of his, he loved blowing crap up, popping fireworks had always been the best holiday for him, because his parents had never been able to afford much for Christmas presents, but July had always been a good time of the year to afford a few stuff, just as the sky was filled with colors of gold and purple, he tore his eyes away from the sky, and looked at her, watching her enjoy the show. |

"I missed you, too," Byren breathed out, leaning into him for a moment. As he spun her around, she made a slight face, being moved from her comfortable position. She scanned his face in the moonlight, smiling inward to herself. He truly made her happy, and, she couldn't wait to be around him. He made her feel different, and if that was what love was, she was quite sure she was falling head first into it. But, at the same time she questioned it, unsure if it was just lust from their unique relationship. Either way, she wasn't about to question it, or ruin it by blurting out a stupid phrase that she wasn't even quite sure exsisted.
Byren followed without question, following him as they weaved between cars, her hand in his. When he stopped at an unfamiliar truck, she was confused, he hadn't said anything about getting a new car. But before she could say anything, he gave her a mischievous look, and she realized it was just a random truck he happened to find. "Romantic," She giggled, climbing into the truck after him. Standing in the bed, she waited for him to get himself settled, all the while making silly faces at him, and posing as if she were a model before she sat next to him, once again snuggling into him.
The fire works had been going all night, but the actual 'show' had started while they were trying to find the truck. The sky glowed red, blue, green, but she couldn't really focus on the fire works, her mind too busy racing. It really wasn't fair to make him keep their relationship secret, but, what if that was the only thing that attracted him to her? It worried her, but, being Byren, she would never voice her fears. She was beautiful to him right down to her fingers and toes, every last one of them. He turned his head back to the show, the smell of black powder and salt from the ocean engulfed him. A smell he would never forget, whether he signed up for the marines like he'd though about doing once he'd graduated, he was sure to remember this single moment with the person that meant the most to him in the world. He turned to his side, wrapping his arm around her face, and pulling her in for a kiss. Kissing her each and every time was always the best kiss he'd ever had. So different from Lizzie who was to busy thinking about whether they looked attractive while doing it, "Quick, close your eyes, we're taking a picture." This was a nice change, and he'd remember to appreciate the little things that were simple between them.
Regardless of wanting to go public with their relationship, and make sure no other guy looked at her, or talked to her, he wanted everyone to know that she was his, and he would like to be able to officially tell a girl who was dropping hints about wanting a screw buddy that he was uninterested because he was taken. Now it only seemed like he'd either gone gay or was hurting over Lizzie. He didn't look at another girl, Raisin had definitely had the easier part of the relationship, no worries about him being unfaithful, not after how much it hurt to keep both Lizzie and Byren riding along with him. "Raisin." he taunted her, using his pet name for her, another difference, the only thing he'd ever called Lizzie was baby because she groaned it every time she needed him, "babyyyyyyyyyyy, get me another beer, just do it.. baby.. please." "i hate when you were away" he told her.

Thayer was the first guy she had ever had feelings like this for. She at times was glad he failed a couple of classes, getting to spend another year with him. She knew it was a selfish thought, but, it was nice to have him there. Though, once they graduated, she was unsure what would happen, she was even unsure if they would still be together come graduation. Of course she wanted them to be, but she wasn't an unrealistic girl. Things happened, and this was only high school. Feeling him pull her into him, she happily returned the kiss. It was one of her favorite things, the feel of his lips against hers. When they kissed all her worries vanished, anything bothering her disolved, and her mind couldn't think of anything but Thayer in that moment.
She turned away for a moment, looking back up to watch the fire works for a moment. He had too much control over her, something that she always feared. Byren liked to have control over whatever situation she was in, afraid it wouldn't go right if she didn't, but with Thayer, she never seemed to be able to argue with him, no matter what he wanted to do, she followed without hesitation. The only thing she had kept in her control was who knew about their relationship, which was no one but them. She didn't want it like that always, but, there was some comfort in knowing that he liked her enough to oblige to that one wish. That he didn't just say fuck it and find a girl he could be open with in public.
As for cheating on him, the thought had never crossed her mind. She was a faithful person, and, although she was flirty by nature, she wouldn't, if not couldn't do that to Thayer. Hearing him call her by his pet name for her, she looked back at him, making another one of her faces. It used to bother her, being called a raisin, but, she got used to it, even liked it. It gave her butterflies, and made her melt slightly. "Next time I'll take you with me?" She offered, laying her head in the nook of his arm, kissing his chest softly. "Everytime I smell gunpowder and salt I'm going to think of you now." She smiled against his skin. [/style] TAG thayer; OUTFIT in the picture; NOTES YAY!; ♔ [/style]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 181818; border: #282828 solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] YOU'RE THE SMILE ON MY FACE The Words: go here The Outfit: goes here The Notes go here The times that was spent with Byren was always some of the ones he savored the most. He'd been born into a regular family, a sister three years older and a brother four years older. He'd always been the favorite, but in a family where money was not always a luxury, they had made it through with one step at a time. The family had been close, they appreciated each other, took care of each other. Kensington or Kensi, had been the straight A student, the perfect learner while Thayer and his brother Milo had always had a constant problem getting to drive to even go to class, more of the skipping variety than the attending kind. Homework was more of a.. copying assignments. Milo had already joined the marines and was stationed in Hawaii and having a hell of a time, the tours were bad, but they were only six months. He could live with that.
He had pretty much had his mind set when he'd got mixed up with Byren, her beautiful smile and the way the light glowed right up into her eyes, causing him to feel it too. He had purpose to go to school, having a few classes together, had motivated him to attend. Not that they could show attention to each other in class, he typically had shown her that she hadn't cared about her one way or another while the world was watching. However, he wished he could change that. He wanted everyone to know that he cared about her.
"Don't lie," he chuckled, deeply, "You wouldn't take me." Neither of their parents were aware of their relationship and if she drug him half way around the world, one or both of their parents would get suspicious. He kissed the top of her head, her glossy black hair filling his fingers, coating them in a silk. As she kissed his chest, he smiled. "I was thinking the exact same thing." he said with sarcasm flooding his voice. |

She had never felt the need to confess her heart, or had anyone to confess her heart to. Until Thayer, that was. But, their situation made it hard for her, she assumed the both of them, but she was still unsure where he stood with everything. At times she hated herself for getting caught up in such a silly mess, but, then she would look into his perfectly blue eyes and get caught up in a whirlwind of emotions. She had no regrets, only fears that he did.
She had been linked with guys before, even while she and Thayer were secretly seeing each other behind Lizzie's back, she still went on dates and made it seem like she was the single socialite she had always been. But Thayer was different, he could keep her attention, make her smile without even trying, she was always excited to see him, and he still gave her butterflies. He was the first one that seemed to capture her fully, without it being for reputation value. Perhaps that's why, because they were honestly together for themselves, rather than for anyone else.
It was partially why she liked keeping him to herself, he was her escape, where she didn't have to worry about status and social standings. Byren liked being able to be herself around him, being able to have moments like those in the bed of the truck, watching fire works with him. "It's not a lie!" She defended, her voice jumping an octave. "I would, too. I just have to get a bigger suitcase." She teased him, knowing that taking him on a family trip wouldn't exactly go over smoothly. Her parents, like herself, were about status and reputation. Though, they were probably worse, it was were Byren got it from, and at the sight of Thayer, and once learning about him, her parents would not approve. As he kissed the top of her head, it brought a genuine smile, something she loved about him. Any time she was down, or having a bad day, just the sight of him made her happy. "Why do you smell like you took a shower in beer?" She noticed it after she kissed his chest, never had been one for the smell of the alcohol.
Though at the sound of the sarcasm coming from him, she frowned. "Fine, I'll keep my thoughts to myself from now on." She pushed herself away from him, and while she was playing, she was a great actress. "I'll sit over here and watch the show," She added as a last minute thought, scooting to the edge of the truck bed. [/style] TAG thayer; OUTFIT in the picture; NOTES YAY!; ♔ [/style]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 181818; border: #282828 solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] YOU'RE THE SMILE ON MY FACE The Words: go here The Outfit: goes here The Notes go here The best part about Thayer was that reputations and opinions of other people had never been a big deal to him, however; he respected the fact that it had meant the world to the only two women he'd ever cared about. Lizzie had always put it above everything else, even his feelings, cracking a joke in front of all their 'friends' just for the sake of getting the last word of the night and to be remembered. No one had ever concerned how much of a bitch she'd actually had been by making fun of the amount of money in his parent's account. Statements like that had made him wonder why he'd bothered to try and save her from a reputation blow, why did her fake friends care whether or not she lost the cheap boyfriend she had? The answer to the question was, he was a nice piece of meat, she looked good on his arm.
Byren was a completely different person in so many ways, she tried, from his view to be hard and judgmental, but to him, she was anything but. She had never judged him for who he was or what he had done. She'd always rewarded him for sticking up for women, and he'd always felt like like her protector. He knew that if anyone touched her, harmed her anyway, she'd be having to find a way to bail him out of jail because he'd completely lose it. Whether their relationship was secret or not, he'd do seriously bodily harm to whoever laid a single finger on her ivory skin.
"My fat ass would rip the shit out of your expensive suitcases," he chuckled, he was hardly fat, but he was a large guy standing at almost 6'2 and a half inches, and was completely filled out, muscles located in all the right places, "Think they might red flag it at the airport while two hair legs are sticking out the bottom of a teenage girl's bag." his bright blue eyes shining, as he spoke to her in a joking manor.
As the stillness settled in, their body's almost breathing at the same time, "Probably because some jackass bumped into a girl at the keg and her beer went all over the place." he confessed, he allowed her to use her imagination about what he did about the situation. He had never been one for letting things go, especially when a jackass was involved. "Awe, babe," he said, his voice lined with worry, he could never tell when she was pretending to be mad, but every time she did, he always fell for it, his biggest concern hurting any girl, but his girl mos of all. "I'm sorry." he said, a pout threatened to poke through his thin lips. |

Byren replied, joking back with him. As he explained about his incident with a spilt beer, she arched an eyebrow in curiosity. "Everyone's okay, though, right?" She asked, though she knew it was. More likely than not he just fixed the situation, probably replacing the girl's drink. It was the guy that worried her, fearing that Thayer would try to set the guy straight. It could have ended badly, but he was there with her, and didn't seem angry or anything, so she assumed everything went smoothly.
It might sound mean, or even controlling, but Byren loved the way he jumped whenever she acted upset with him. It was a reassuring feeling, that he did care for her, or at least didn't want her mad at him. Normally she didn't care about things like that, but, Thayer changed her. She was almost to the point of confessing all of her feelings to him, and forgetting her fears of what others thought, but, something still held her back. Perhaps it was the fact that it was her senior year, and they had already gone a year hiding their relationship, it wouldn't hurt to continue.
She wouldn't lie, though, it bothered her the way girls looked at him, and she couldn't say anything. Or swoop in when a girl was obviously flirting with him, and save him with a kiss. But, with love came sacrafices. And she was still convinced that this wasn't love. It was the biggest denial anyone could be in, and even though she would let herself play with the idea in the comforts of her bed at night, when she was with Thayer, all she could imagine was him walking away if she ever actually said she loved him. Looking back at him as he apologized, the look on her face made her pout as well, though it was more of a sympathy pout. "It's okay, babe," She smiled, leaning back to kiss him. "Not if they were dudes." he said simply, "This dog don't bark that way." he said his voice unmoving, as if he would not be swayed on his decision, strong and sure. "A woman couldn't deny these abs." he said running his finger tips along the bumps and ridges of his stomach, perfectly aligned, especially for a eighteen year old whose body was still developing, men at the age of 30 were far more ripped. "but then I'd have to tell them my girlfriend might get jealous." Though they had defined themselves as together, they never really described each other as boyfriend and girlfriend, any mention of any kind of attachment like that was almost a sore subject.
When they first got together, it was harder, they didn't talk about anything that would cause extra tension, the sneaking around had already added enough. But now that he had left Lizzie in his rear view mirror, he had always wanted to have the talk, but it had never happened. So again, they were just together, he tried to play it off like it was a joke, sure he was her boyfriend and vise versa, but Byren had never struck him as the labeling type.
The sadness in his eyes, the blue turning a light gray, and his eyebrows lowered, it really hurt him to see any girl hurt, most of all her, protecting her with his life if he had to, once she grabbed a hold of his face and kissed him, he hungrily kissed back, his lips in hers, she tasted sweet, like she always had, "Raisin." he murmured against her lips. Pulling away just as the last shot of the fireworks were fired, "We've gotta get out of here," he said, his face inches from hers, his skin a shade lighter in color, "Partys about over." he warned, regrettably, the last thing he ever wanted to do was say goodbye.
