alex was bored, out of his mind really. he was at work of course, making ends meet. and as usual, there was nobody there. and of course that meant he could slack off and talk to the waitress that's been all up on him since he's joined the ranks of the staff. which he wouldn't mind, she was a townie and his age, why not take advantage of that.
right, and after awhile, she was definitely going to drag him to the back and they would have some fun times. but that's when the door signal rang and he groaned as he had to take care of whoever was at the door. once he pried his grip from her, as she complained he could only smile, and he made his way to the bar. he just sighed when he saw who it was, and he was already doing the drink that she loved.
he finished it and slid the drink to her "how many today? twenty? fourty?"

There had been a lot going on in her life that had her stressed out. This in turn had her turning to her parent’s wine cellar. It wasn’t like they used it. Neither of them were home, her dad always and work and her mom…well she didn’t want to think of where her mom was. She had been practically perpetually drunk for the past week meaning that her paper for AP English didn’t even get touched. She knew that school was fast approaching and she needed to get it done so she could actually have a week or two to actually rest, but this past week hadn’t been the week to do it. Trying to forget the throbbing in her head, she packed her laptop into her backpack and decided she would head to the only place where she knew she wasn’t going to be able to get alcohol. The country club. Ok so if anyone but Alex was the person there she could get alcohol, but she was banking on the fact that he was always working so maybe she would actually get something done.
The drive to the country club was basically a haze. Her head really was hurting like no other and she probably shouldn’t be driving, but she needed to get out of her house so she could stay sober. Jay pushed through the door, flinching at the bell. If she could get a raspberry lemonade in her system she would hopefully feel better. She took her regular spot at the bar, setting her bag on the seat next to her. Before she could even take her computer out there was a raspberry lemonade in front of her and a familiar voice gracing her ears. She looked up to see Alex in front of her on the other side of the bar. ‘Hey I don’t drink that many.’ She couldn’t help but smile a little as he made fun of her for her obsession with the drink. She really did love raspberry lemonade. She took a sip of it and then took her laptop out, placing it on the counter. ‘You want to make me a Bloody Mary?’ She knew that if she had that then it would help with this hangover. She had already taken some asprin but it still hadn’t set in. She needed the pounding in her head to go away before she could even begin to concentrate. | [atrb=width,140]words ,415 tagged ,alex outfit ,clickynotes ,ummm ya | [cs=2] |

alex knew what she wanted, she was such a typical customer. he could only make the raspberry lemonade when she walked in, it was like a habit. and she always wanted more and more of it, he felt like a machine with her. but that party that he actually got the chance to get closer to her, it was weird but he made the drink and gave it to her before she even got the chance to say hello.
when she did it was one, shame. "says the fourty cups i have to clean afterwords." he laughed softly and slightly at his own joke. but the next moment surprised him more than anything, more than the fact that she was one, uncontrollable drunk. she wanted a bloody mary. "you sure? i mean i can only give you a virgin, so you might as well drink some tomato juice."
he knew she would be upset at him for not spiking any drinks. but she was a minor, even though he was too. but he was responsible believe it or not, not considering the fact he was almost going to make that waiter ride her brains out in the back of the place. he knew the right from wrong when it came to serving people, no id, no drinks. he could only grin at the thought. "what brings you here?"
he knew the answer, he was just wanting to strike up a conversation.

She didn’t know if there was any other way to describe it. They never saw each other out of this setting and honestly Jay was a little scared too. Not because she didn’t think Alex was cool, but because she didn’t know if things would be the same when he had to be there talking to her. Although he didn’t have to talk to her while she worked, in fact she usually didn’t get anything done on the days Alex was working and it was slow because she ended up talking to him instead. There had been that once that she had hung out with Alex outside of their zone, but she couldn’t remember a thing. She didn’t even remember it had happened until he had brought it up. She often wondered if she had said anything or done anything that would strain the relationship they had, but by the way Alex acted she hadn’t. Still, she wished she could remember that night.
‘You are over exaggerating Alex. The most I’ve ever drank in one sitting was ten. If that. You make my addiction sound worse than it really is.’ Jay smiled and shook her head at this. She opened her laptop and logged on. She was at least going to have the image of trying to be productive, even if she knew it wasn’t going to actually happen. ‘Ok you’re lame. I don’t want tomato juice. I’ll stick with my nectar from the Gods.’ Jay knew he wasn’t going to give her anything, but it was worth a shot. She took a sip of her drink and couldn’t help but smile as it hit her taste buds. She really did love this stuff.
Jay pulled her legs up into the chair, sitting Indian style as she normally did. She couldn’t help but laugh at herself. She really was a creature of habit and the fact that she hadn’t been out to the country club to pretend to do homework and bug Alex for the past week was out of the norm. It had just been one of those weeks. And plus she was pretty sure Jax would have killed her if she had driven drunk to the country club just to get a raspberry lemonade. ‘Same as usual. Ya know, trying to get things done. Be a productive member of society.’ Jay drummed her fingers against her laptop as she waited for her paper to come up. She couldn’t help but groan when she was there was still only less than a page there. If only it would just magically write itself. | [atrb=width,140]words ,443 tagged ,alex outfit ,clickynotes ,ummm ya | [cs=2] |

alex could only raise a brow, and a seat next to her, well not next to her. but on the other side of the bar. it was a slow day, and if she wasn't just hear to annoy him, she was here to actually use him for entertainment, when he could be entertaining somebody else out back. but, she insisted he was actually interesting, its funny how preps lie so poorly. he could only grin as she denied his claim of the fact she was addicted to the stuff he gave her.
frowned at the fact she called him lame, if anything it was her that was lame, still giving a damn about school, there was no reason to care about it, he wouldn't get into college, he would just be stuck in this town, and with nothing to do in life except for this job and maybe sticking with some townies. but townies were boring, but what was he going to do, his life was already set on its path, why try and fight it to change?
when she actually tried to be productive he could only laugh "then you came to the wrong place..." he held back a laugh and just played with the fountain drink hoses.

This just seemed how to be their relationship seemed to be though. Jay would show up to do work, he would make fun of her, and she would end up bantering with him back and forth instead of getting anything done. It wasn’t like she minded. Sure her grades meant the world to her, but at the same time it was summer. She deserved a break every once in a while, didn’t she? Sure she did. So even though she would go to the institution with the purpose of getting things done, even though deep down she knew that it was never going to happen. Still, she liked to pretend that she was going to get something done. It was a lot better than being home anyways. There had been so much tension at her home recently that being gone had been the best option for her, even if people did stare at her when she was out. Stupid gossip blog.
‘I always get things done, Alex. I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ Jay let herself smirk at this, situating herself in her chair and taking another sip of her drink. She looked at it and frowned seeing it was almost gone. Ok maybe she did drink close to forty, but it wasn’t like she would ever admit that to him. Without even thinking, it really was more of a reflex now, Jay opened the gossip blog. She didn’t even know why she bothered getting on anymore. It used to be amusing because well she wasn’t on it. Now her name seemed to be in every other comment either talking about her being a total slut or how she needed to be kicked out of the preps. With everything that was spiraling out of control in her life, she was barely hanging on. For the first time in her life she was actually having trouble holding it all together, but somehow she managed.
She closed out of the tab and ran her hand through her hair. Jay had never been one to wear her emotions outright. She had learned at a young age how to keep the bottled inside, only letting them truly show when she was alone. She was pretty sure the only person who had ever seen her cry was Jax, and it wasn’t by her choice. She would rather put on a fake smile and lie to the world. It seemed easier that way, even if behind closed doors everything was falling apart. She knew that if she did get kicked out of the preps she would lose every connection she had to Harvard. She was slowly realizing that her dreams were slipping away, and quickly. On top of that she knew that half of the people who called themselves her friends would ditch out on her. Not like she needed people like that anyways, just it was another thing to add to the list. The whole thing seemed insignificant though when she compared it to her home life. She knew her mom was having an affair and she was pretty sure her dad had found out, and if he hadn’t she was sure he would soon. The whole thought of her parents getting divorced just made her even more on edge.
Jay let out a sigh, taking another sip of the fruity drink hoping it would calm her nerves. She was pretty sure it would have worked too if she hadn’t noticed the two girls about ten feet away, staring at her and whispering. She rolled her eyes, set the glass down, and closed her laptop. She wasn’t going to get any work done, who was she kidding. ‘People are stupid.’ It really was the only comment she had about the people who bought into the gossip. People who actually knew her knew that she hadn’t had sex with any of those guys, or with anyone really. She couldn’t help but scoffing at the whole idea. ‘You know apparently we’re hooking up.’ Another shake of her head and a roll of her eyes. It really was all ridiculous.

her sarcastic tone wasn't helping the fact that she never really got anything done around him. he could only sigh and wonder what she was planning on doing being here, probably just drink a ton of that drink she loved so much and just leave to go play tennis with some douchebag prep. they were all the same really. he didn't even know why she hasn't even realized that he's a punk yet, it was on that joke of a gossip blog.
he wondered what she was looking at, but didn't bother to ask, so he just walked away for a moment, grabbing a beer and coming back, his boss wouldn't mind, him on the job drinking wasn't as bad as it sounded, his boss was chill unless it came to serving alcohol to minors, drink all you want, dont serve it. the hissing pop made his slight frown turn upside down and grow into a grin, he might be a bit of a douche drinking in front of her, but it didn't matter, he was never going to really get farther than friends with her, considering her status.
took a sip of his beer as she began to talk, the burn slightly woke him up, but he was still bored and waiting for her leave really. but this interested him now "hah, thats a funny joke..." he raised a brow, was she serious? but he nodded to her comment before "insanely stupid." he took another sip. but he leaned to where he could barely see her screen "hows that paper thats a waste of time coming along?"
he finished with another casual sip of his beer, not really minding his own business, might as well just fool around, she was apparently too good for him.

It just was how she was. She really was sarcastic towards everyone, but for some reason it came out a lot more whenever she sat at the bar pretending to work on something productive. It was probably because she knew that she could actually be working on something and he called her out on not doing anything. She had to be sarcastic back to it. She couldn’t help it. Jay couldn’t help but give him a “are you serious” look when she saw him grab a beer. ‘So you can drink on the job, but I can’t have a Bloody Marry? Please explain how that is fair.’ She rested her chin in the palm of her hand as her elbow rested on the counter. For the longest time Jay had thought that Alex was just some townie who worked at the country club, but after everything that had been said on the stupid gossip blog she was pretty sure he went to Manchester. Not that she had ever seen him. She figured he probably hung out in the same crowd as Jax, hence why she had never really seen him.
Jay shrugged to his comment. ‘I didn’t say it. Stupid people who have no lives did.’ Jay took the last sip of her drink and casually slid her cup towards Alex with a smile, insinuating that she wanted another drink. ‘I’m glad you agree.’ When he leaned over to see her screen Jay playfully pushed him away. ‘Hey get out of here. It’s a work in progress thank you very much.’ She stuck out her tongue and then laughed as she turned her laptop away from him. Her paper wasn’t even up anymore. She was on youtube looking to see if anything good was on her little feed.
She tilted her head back and forth a little trying to decide whether she wanted to click on a link to a video or not before she looked back at Alex. ‘You go to Manchester, don’t you?’ She might as well confirm her suspicions while she was sitting there. She really had never asked before, but then again before she thought he wasn’t in school anymore. She felt a little dumb that she had never really realized that they had gone to the same school, but she was always caught up in school and what not. She rarely even talked to her friends in the halls, walking around with her nose in her notes while she walked to her next class. Jax always told her that she was going to run into an open locker one day, but it had yet to happen thankfully. Jay’s eyes went back to the beer in his hand. ‘Meaning that you’re not legal to be drinking that. Such a hypocrite Alex. And here I was thinking we were friends.’ She let out a small laugh. She really didn’t mind that much that he wouldn’t give her alcohol. If she really wanted some she could always go scour her house for the key to the wine cellar and get some there. Plus she wouldn’t be drunk in public that way.

alex couldn't help but grin at the face jay made as he came back with a beer in his mouth and him enjoying it. her words made it even funnier, he was only doing it for the laughs. and he replied with an easy, sarcastic "life's not fair," he said as he set down the beer on the bar. when he did, he finished his sentence "get used to it." he grinned out as he finished. she was really trying to play the sarcastic game, and he was one of the professions at it, after all, its what got him landed in the rejects in the first place, his attitude.
but she explained herself, and he felt a bit harsh for thinking she would say such a thing, after all, she is a popular, right? he could only laugh as she explained the people having no life's, then how are they alive? he just calmed himself though, casually peeking at her screen. but she made it difficult by pushing him away, rude.
he only pouted slightly, figuring it was payback for him drinking a beer. so he rubbed it in her face. as he drank however, she asked if he went to manchester. this made him stop drinking, and he set it down slowly. he was wondering where she was taking this conversation.
"yes..." he paused and wondered "why?"
but she went on the offensive with her joke about him being hypocritical "think of it as a good thing." he said as he pointed to his co-worker. "if you were drunk, he would be all over you." he laughed as he leaned back on his stool across from her "and i couldn't do anything to help." he was a bit hurt at her last part of the sentence "then what am i?" he said with a grin as he finished his beer.

She really had never been mad at the guy. It was all in joking. Maybe it was because the only environment they ever hung out in was the country club. Jay figured that was probably it. She could see herself getting quite frustrated with the boy in normal situations since they both tried to push each other’s buttons whenever they could. ‘I refuse to get used to something I dislike.’ A small smirk ran across her face as she said this. In all honesty she had gotten very used to life not being fair. Not like she was going to go into great detail to him of why she knew this or what had happened that made her know this. No, those were things that she would keep to herself. It wasn’t like she needed to go around vying for
She raised an eyebrow as he took another sip of his beer. She took a sip of her own drink knowing that she wasn’t getting anywhere on the alcohol front with him. She had to stifle a laugh though when she saw his face when she asked if he attended Manchester. ‘It was just a simple question. Making conversation. Avoiding writing this paper. The usual.’ Jay sweetly smiled doubting that he would buy it. She was just asking though. Curiosity and all.
Her eyes gazed over to where he pointed. She couldn’t help but shiver when they landed on Alex’s co-worker. Whenever she came in and Alex wasn’t working he hit on her. She couldn’t even begin to imagine what he would be like if she was drunk. She would probably end up naked in the back room though. ‘You could if you wanted to. You would just be a jerk and sit and watch me being taken advantage of.’ Jay laughed and shook her head a little. She figured that Alex wouldn’t stop him from hitting on her, but she figured that if she was in any real danger he would step in. She figured that they were friends…sort of. She really didn’t know what they were, but she doubted he would let her get raped by his creepy co-worker. ‘Hmmm…you are…hmm…I don’t know Alex, but apparently we aren’t friends because you are so mean to me.’ Her voice was dripping with sarcasm and she had to hold in a small laugh and a smile.
A small ding on her computer brought her attention back to the screen. She looked over the tabs open at the top of the screen and saw her email softly flashing. She clicked the tab and scanned her email looking at what the top, bolded one was. It seemed to be a notification from the gossip site. Funny, she thought she had stopped the emails from coming to her. She rolled her eyes and opened the email. As she scanned over the faulty information she saw her name several times. She averted her eyes back to the top and intently read what was said. A wave of several emotions washed over her. None of that had happened. But she guessed this was her official invite to get the hell out of the preps. She could feel the anger of the lie wash away as the realization that this could kill everything she dreamed for hit. Her heart sunk and she bit the inside of her lip hard. She could feel her eyes begging to let tears come out, something she hadn’t let happen for a while, but when something you had dreamed about since you were little shatters it’s hard not to want to fall to pieces. She took a deep breath and then bit her lip harder. She would keep her composure if it was the last thing she did. | [atrb=width,140]words ,641 tagged ,alex outfit ,clickynotes ,um..ya... | [cs=2] |
